Geez, if others comment on you shaking your head too much, they are not focusing on the excellent information that you are presenting! I personally have the M30T. It is a beast of an aircraft and is everything you commented on. As the civilian drone pilot for my local police department, I recommended they purchase the Mavic 3T which they did. The department's Part 107 qualified Officers do not fly as regularly as I do. So, it literally made more sense dollar wise for the department to purchase the Mavic 3T in a smaller, more maneuverable and a less costly package that the Mavic 3T offers. Despite its folding capabilities, the M30T is big and can be a bit intimidating for a less experienced drone pilot who does not fly on a regular basis. If and when a critical situation presents itself, I will fly my M30T along with an Officer flying the Mavic 3T. Hell of a duo in the air.... Batman and Robin! Since the department's jurisdiction includes a bay and coastline area of responsibility here on the California Central Coast, the M30T has an advantage over the Mavic 3T in Search and Rescue Operations with its range finding coordinates, DJI spotlight and IP 55 rating. Nicely presented comparison. Kudos too from Russ at 51 Drone, huh? Semper Fly, Dave in Morro Bay.

This was a very helpful video! Ive been trying to find out for awhile if i can do mapping with the M30T. I really didn’t want to spend money on another drone just for mapping.
Excellent review! I’ve owned the 30t since it’s release and it’s pretty much been a brick. All the software for mapping, rood, etc etc is super expensive and usually requires a yearly steep fee. I recently purchased the 3t and used it 8x as much. I think the 30t was built solely for LE or S&R. The 30t is a super expensive and loud hobby drone.
I absolutely ❤ the M30T, one day I WILL own one, until then I’ll just keep plugging away at the lotteries lol. Thanks for the video, just makes me dream more.
Excellent educational video for a newbie like me. I need a drone to find fawns before cutting my hay field. I was hoping for a thermal drone, but they are out of my budget. Do you have a suggestion for $1000 or less?
Hey Man, first off good video! It reinforced the choice I had in mind which drone to buy for my work. If I may add criticism though, I felt the thermal comparison was very lacking. I mean the video is called Thermal Drone Face-Off and the reason for anyone to consider buying this type is likely their thermal capabilities. And all we got is 20s saying "they're the same". You could try them out in simulated real-life applications. Try spotting a walking person in a forest, laying in a field. Or let them try read heat signature through thin layers of plastic, ply wood, whatever. Actually showing the capabilities, different isotherms, resolution on different distances, precision under different working conditions (LIRR, high noon, cloudy), you name it! Edit: Even if they still remain exactly the same, you'd show off their real capabilities and that is very useful info. 🙂
Thanks for watching and for the feedback. Here’s my thinking: If I make an in depth video comparing the thermal sensors and come to the conclusion that they’re all the same, people complain that I’ve wasted their time. Thermal can’t see through plywood or glass, maybe the thin sheets of plastic you mentioned, but it would make for a boring test. Maybe I can put something together going over thermal in general, but these drones, from Autel to DJI, really do have equal thermal.
@@AerialInfluence See? I'm talking nonsense and want to learn much more. That's why I wished there was a more extensive section hahahah Ply wood I get, but how does glass affect it? Can the wavelength not be transmitted through regular glass?
To answer your question simply, no. Thermal is great, but it cannot see through a sheet of tissue paper. I play around with a lot of thermal. Maybe the government has something different that can see through stuff, but it’s not going to be thermal.
Are the thermal cameras "radiometric"? Probably, knowing DJI (Teledyne FLIR sensor). Non-radiometric thermal cameras are much less costly (other vendors). Radiometric cameras are required for inspection projects, since they record temperatures as part of the imagery, and they are calibrated to provide more accurate measurements. Some people will need the extra capability.

Or perform mapping at low speed. Basically the only difference is speed. Edit: If your curious on where to find it in the regulations it’s 107.12
M30T is quite a bit more money, but IMO it's absolutely worth it IF you're using your drone to make money. You can charge quite a bit more per hour for the quality and information you can provide. IF you're looking to use different payloads like LiDAR mapping, then you'd need something more like the M300. The M30T has a fixed camera, and can not swap payloads.
You forgot mention the M30T is able to fly with only 3 propellers if is necessary in case of accident. This is a great and informative video. Thanks !!
It’s more that it makes the landing a little less impactful, not that it can fly with 3 props. It sort of swirls down instead of falling straight down. Thank you for watching and commenting!
There is a dealer currently selling the 30T for $18,200. 8 batteries, landing pad , and the search light with the speanker option. Is this a decent price with the ad ons?
Thanks for the video. Which of these would be better for detecting small canopy mammals such as howlers and capuchin monkeys in tropical rainforest environments?
They’re going to give you equal thermal. The M30T is waterproof, has a night vision mode on top of the thermal mode and it’s got a much better zoom lens. I’d go with the M30T for your use case.
@@AerialInfluence can i rent one? Im on the fence about pulling the trigger on one, i will be applying the thermal aspect to my volunteer work with my counties fire dept.
@@thatchsmash I've asked about 100 people and got 5 responses, I've only had one guy set up an actual field test for me. I had a thought that if a drone could use an AI software to tell the difference in solar load to signal an inspection maybe we could make it easier to detect a group of people in a container. But it's extremely difficult...
@@thatchsmash I was hoping that a thermal camera could notice a difference in the surface temperature of containers being used to ship people in, but even with military grade equipment it seems impossible, it's incredibly sad.
@@anthonywolf943 I do know that thermal cant see through glass etc to see a person in a vehicle or house..... BUT you can often tell if someone is in a stationary vehicle because the glass itself will heat up some. Shipping containers are a different story though......maybe some kind of large directional microphone system to detect sound or vibration from multiple humans or a camera equipped with some kind of way to detect a large carbon dioxide expenditure.
The User Manual for both Mavic 3 and Matrice 30 specify that transmission between aircraft and controller uses O3 (OcuSync). Goggles V1 and V2 use earlier versions of OcuSync (maybe FPV goggles too, I haven't looked at those specs). That said, it is unclear if V1 or V2 Goggles can receive and display O3 (goggles only receive from the aircraft, no transmissions). However, you "should" be able to connect Goggles to Controller using an HDMI cable, and the Goggles will display the Controller screen. (I have done this with Autel EVO II and works fine) I "think" that you can have the controller display ONLY the aircraft video and no data. If so, this view would be like the V1 and V2 goggles view.
Thanks for the information and the video. However, I like them both and I will be purchasing both for them soon, along with the (DJI mini 3 pro), as well. And I just love my (DJI Sprank) too!

hi, are thermal drones useful at search and rescue after an earthquake? Would it be able to see people under rubbles? Can I, for example quickly fly through an area which has totally been collapsed, and mark down locations to send rescue teams for people in need of help? i would really appreaciate your expertise and answer.
Great question. Thermal will do a good job of detecting heat signatures, but it would not be able to see through the rubble. You could fly the area and drop pinpoints with GPS locations of areas that you’re concerned about. I wish I had a drone that could see through the rubble.
@@jerryrosen5792SAR like you said already, but i imagine it could also be handy in a police pursuit situation with the drone operator being in contact with arresting units on the ground. It would also be useful in a military situation for calling in precision air or artillery strikes.
I have a Mavic 3T and have flown in snow, fog, mist, and relatively heavy rain without any issues. I dry it thoroughly with compressed air as soon as I land. This drone is what we call FMT, and worth every God Damn Cent! FMT for those who don’t know is Fucking Magic Technology. Other examples of FMT would be things like modern fishing sonar and trolling motors with the ⚓️ feature, or the feature that enables full function control of a Bobcat with a smartphone.
I recently purchased a Mavic 3T - mainly for doing Thermal Work. However, when using it, I was a little shocked to see that all the functions on the Mavic 3 are not available on the Mavic 3T - No Raw, No Mastershots, No POI tracking etc. Sure, you may say, why would you need these on a thermal camera, but why not let the user decide. During inspections, you still need to use the camera, so why not RAW at least.
I have contacted them numerous times about active track. For whatever reason they have no interest on adding it. If everyone bugs them enough maybe they will add it in the future. So anyone that has this drone, contact them and let them know they need to add it
How well do these thermals work in warm / hot climates, I live in Arkansas, if the thermals don’t work well in hot ish weather, then spring / summer n fall, it’s just a cool drone. Nice info laden video, great job.
They’re going to work great at night when things cool down. During the day when it’s hot, it gets more complicated because everything is hot. But you can adjust your pallet to make it easier to get a heat signature. Thank you for watching!

Couldn’t agree more.
Dude I’m watching this a year later lol but just wanted to tell you that I appreciate the info in this video ! AWESOME ! SUBED
Thank you so much!
@@AerialInfluence Did the old Inspire 2 have the 3 prop landing feature ? I think I read about it a long time back , or maybe my imagination lol
thanks for information, if budget is available, i go to M3OT
Is the RTK tripod the same for both? Could you buy one for the Mavic 3T and keep the same tripod if you moved up to the M30T?
Yes you can use the same base station for both drones.
does the mavic 3 enterprise have a mecanical obturador ??? for mapping with high presicion ?
Unfortunately it doesn’t. Only the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Mavic 3 Multispectral have mechanical shutters.
There is a dealer currently selling the 30T for $18,200. 8 batteries, landing pad , and the search light with the speanker option. Is this a decent price with the ad ons?
The price has come down significantly. Call us! 312-278-7232
скіки ВОГів потягне?
Thanks for the video. Which of these would be better for detecting small canopy mammals such as howlers and capuchin monkeys in tropical rainforest environments?
They’re going to give you equal thermal. The M30T is waterproof, has a night vision mode on top of the thermal mode and it’s got a much better zoom lens. I’d go with the M30T for your use case.
@@jerryrosen5792 Too funny mate! :-D
Great job. I appreciate your time.
Where can I buy the mavic 3t
You can buy it from us. (312) 278-7232 or contact@aerialinfluence.com.
@@AerialInfluence can i rent one? Im on the fence about pulling the trigger on one, i will be applying the thermal aspect to my volunteer work with my counties fire dept.
What optical zoom does the Mavic 3E have
Mavic 3T have.
Or are they both the same zoom (optical)
The 3E and 3T both have a 56x hybrid digital zoom.
Is the M 30T remote going to be compatible with other DJI drones in the future?
I know it will work with some agriculture drones and possibly with the M300, but past that I haven’t heard anything.
Great video. Very helpful.
Excellent review. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words!
Will the smart controller that I use with my Air 2 S work with the Mavik 3T?
Unfortunately, it will not work.
Nicely done mate. Have a thumbs up and a new subscriber
Cheers
Thank you!
With the m30 do the 2 onboard battery’s last 40 mins each?
No, 40 mins total flight time with 2 batteries.
What is the faa regulations on using a 4 prop drone
It states people who ask instead of googling shall not fly…..😅
Is there anyway to test these drones on metal shipping containers? Would you be able to see if there was thermal activity in a metal container?
This is the second video I've seen your question in. Do you have someone chained up in a shipping container like the serial killer Todd Kohlhepp lol?
@@thatchsmash those are also good ideas
excellent video, and as for your head, do what you want with it!
Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
can you use the v2 goggles with either? you said there was a FVP camera on the m30t, so I would assume at least that one could?
Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. It’s a good idea though. Maybe a future update.
What is maximum range?
Thanks for the information and the video. However, I like them both and I will be purchasing both for them soon, along with the (DJI mini 3 pro), as well. And I just love my (DJI Sprank) too!

@@AerialInfluence Sounds like a plan, thanks okay!
@@AerialInfluence can the mavic 3T be used for travel films? i want the thermal camera for hunting, but 5k is not enough to justify it for just hunting tbh
@@wcsdiaries Sure, you can travel with it. 4k camera. Very compact with a nice hard case and smart controller
@@AerialInfluence how is the quality of the 4k footage? is it comparable to the regular mavic 3? Like can you shoot in dlog/different picture profiles?

I am Curious to know if a Logging company hires me to look at a Remote area with no cellular service can I still fly an M30T no problem?
satellite 🛰️📡 connection, so obviously yes ..👍
A Great video I am going to use it to show my Fire Chief Thursday to show him what these Drones will do I am teaching classes for Part 107 for 9 fire personnel at this time
Thank you for watching! If you decide to buy one, give us a call: (312) 278-7232.
We are in the process of buying some thing that not too sure how we’re gonna set it up. I’ll know that on my Thursday meeting and I know that I’ll have to have three quotes because this is a government agency and that’s the way they roll but I will definitely keep you in mind.
hi, are thermal drones useful at search and rescue after an earthquake? Would it be able to see people under rubbles? Can I, for example quickly fly through an area which has totally been collapsed, and mark down locations to send rescue teams for people in need of help? i would really appreaciate your expertise and answer.
Great question. Thermal will do a good job of detecting heat signatures, but it would not be able to see through the rubble. You could fly the area and drop pinpoints with GPS locations of areas that you’re concerned about. I wish I had a drone that could see through the rubble.
the radiation needed to see through 200mm thk concrete from 50m can give people cancer and a 2 tons of equipment
Is the M30T compliant with the new FAA remote ID requirements? Trying to get my work to upgrade to it from the inspire 1.
It is compliant!
Wow, the M30 is something else. The laser range finder is amazing.
Agreed. Thank you for watching!
@@jerryrosen5792SAR like you said already, but i imagine it could also be handy in a police pursuit situation with the drone operator being in contact with arresting units on the ground. It would also be useful in a military situation for calling in precision air or artillery strikes.
can you drop a point with both drones?
Yes you can.
I agree. Always puzzled that they don’t include all of the functionality.
@@AerialInfluence Thanks - it is not like it is not capable - they just need to flip a switch in the software.
I have contacted them numerous times about active track. For whatever reason they have no interest on adding it. If everyone bugs them enough maybe they will add it in the future. So anyone that has this drone, contact them and let them know they need to add it
M30t thermal camera is sub 30mk.M3t is sub 50mk.fair bit of difference in challenging conditions.
Great 411. Thank you
I've flown my Mavic Pro (first model) in the rain many times, no issues.
