Double Devonian Steam | 34046 & 44871 | 04&05.05.24

The first May Bank Holiday Weekend would see a double dose of mainline steam in the southwest with "The English Riviera Express" on Saturday and the "Royal Duchy" on Sunday.
We start the weekend at Dawlish where we catch Bulleid Pacific 34046 "Braunton" on her way to Kingswear with the "English Riviera Express". Next we catch the Bulleid on the climb after Goodrington. On the return journey we catch the tour at Greenway, however with "Braunton" running nearly 40 minutes early I missed my final shot by minutes.
On Sunday we head to Rattery bank to see Black 5 no.44871 climb the bank in the heavy rain. We then take a detour to Buckfastleigh to catch the final service of the day departing for Totnes, before catching 44871 a final time at Cockwood Harbour.
