It looks like when she does the charge attack that she'll do three charges in a row, where she almost immediately dives after the first two, but sits on top of the water for a few seconds after the third. But if you get out of the water before the third, then she will just go back to hiding again. So you seem to be able to get more damage if you're willing to sit in the water with her longer.
It actually works, its just Rachta isn't good with Lance. It takes 2-3 Wax heads depending, on how many slashes you give her. If you are a true lance main- you always pack an ammo box. Even before the ammo changes. (In case you blow all 4 wax heads- I don't recommend dropping normal bolts to go full single ammo on Lance, and before you say: Steel Ball is just shotgun talon so...🤷♂️) The wax head doesn't stick because it doesn't say so in text and it doesn't have a harpoon head. You shoot the wax frag into the path of gator, not the gator. If you are in deep water you can shoot her as soon she bubbles charging her lunge. So flick, and then run. If you are Solo and not Smuggler pact, grab Gator Legs. Otherwise, Mariner, teammates or portable toolbox/medkit in the bag is fine. Lastly, Rottie is weak to blunt and I don't know, but I feel Lance gets a bonus damage?🤔 It cuts her up pretty fast, faster than a meathead it seems. - Your Friendly Bayou Lancer

I discovered that a silenced nagant with poisonous ammo is very effective against this boss. 14-15 rounds is enough for a quick kill - dodge bite attack and fan right in her head/mouth, reload, try again. It's okay if you miss her head - just one or two melee punch after another dodge and she is dead
Rot Jaw is actually also oneshotable with normal dynamite bundle. I don't know if it has to land perfectly, but I somehow managed to onetap the boss that way.
Must be a bug then. Every time i used a normal/waxed dynamite and a sticky while she was still in a bush i only did around 25% damage. You need the big dynamite bundles to insta kill her.

I'm still not quite sure how I did it, but I killed it with 2 nitro shredder shots back to back in the span of 1 second once. Haven't been able to replicate it since.

Regardless of lore, the Smuggler Pact is the best one to take if you're hunting Rotjaw. The Mariner Trait is as good as a Regen Shot, if not better. Especially on Thundershower maps! If you can't drop the cash for a Big Dynamite Bundle, or if you're going solo and can't afford to limit yourself with a Bomb Lance or other specialized equipment, Silenced Nagant with Poison Ammo and Fanning will wear her down pretty quickly. Still worth tossing a bomb on her when she's "dormant," but you use what you have in the bayou!
I emptied a server and looted a nitro with explosive ammo. I deleted like 70% of his life with one shot to the ribs. Maybe can kill it with one single shot in the mouth.
I don't know why people are talking about her like she was a limited time thing, or that she only appears on heavy rain hunts, I fought her today, and it was perfectly clear.
It can also deal bleeding damage. I couldn't find a way to reproduce it reliably, but there is also a source of bleed. First I thought it was friendly fire from my mates' melee attacks, but that's not it. I think it might be when I jumped on the gator to hit with melee, and the spikes of Rotjaw's metal contraption (prob a gator trap that couldn't take her down) did this bleeding. Doesn't happen so often though.
You can stand just on the edge of the shore enough to trigger the bite attack and when it get close (about the distance u were dodging the bite attack) you can take a few steps back onto shore and shoot (u can melee her to just harder to time) it in the mouth and take no damage. The timing is tricky but it's easier than dodging and easier to hit since u stay facing her the whole time.
my first fight with this thing was horrible i brought 4 big Vits and 3 Medkits all of them used i was on my last health bar and the boss was still at 50% Health and then some other dudes came and killed me and the croc
For being the hardest boss in the game, being in an area were you are easy to get ambushed in and only giving you 100 dollars (normal boss gives you 150 per bounty so 300 if you extract with your team), the boss is not worth fighting right now at all. Unless i got a big dynamite bundle i dont even bother with the boss.
hardest boss? In my experience there's nothing crazy about it, especially with how quickly it dies. Plus, it's the people defending the banish that do the ambushing, not the other way around - always hiding in a bush somewhere
My friend and I just killed our first Rotjaw and had a lot of fun doing it, without seeing a tutorial first so we went in blind and definitely almost got our asses handed to us.

How would you advise pushing teams who are already at the Rotjaw boss? I find it a bit tricky to work out a plan of attack. I imagine as everyone gets used to the locations the gator can spawn at more consistent strategies will emerge. I personally wonder what they are.
This boss has 2 problems, first it's the hardest boss in the game and it only gives one bounty. Second, it's only the hardest boss because often times My friends or I will hop in the water and when it goes for its lunge attack it spawns directly beneath where one of us is standing, making it impossible to dodge.
Boss was a huge letdown imo. Sure its cool but I was expecting a gator that ambushes you and has a grab attack that can drag you into water or a death roll animation or something cool and unique like that. The event as a whole seems lazy especially when they've been teasing and working on it for months ahead of time, since they first put the gator traps in, we waited all this time and this is all we get?
one question: when you log in with two Accounts (i guess the blue hunters shadow in the vid is your 2nd Account, you mentioned in another vid you got 2 Accounts to try diff things) do you log in on 2 PC´s or 2 Window OS´s or how do you manage it?
my friends and i did our first game organically and tried to melee him but werent sure of the way to do it without him completely draining our heals. so we just started bringing waxed sticks and when hes chasing you for the bank attack we'd just throw the sticks and after he jumps out his animation pauses there for a second before he goes back under the water and even if he goes under theres still like a full second before his hit box disappears. our second game we spawned on him and had him banished within a minute of the game then ran over took scrapbeak from some goobers and got out within like 6 minutes shit was nuts
me and my mates have just chucked waxed sticks into the water after it slid in when you first find it, still almost one shots so the disappearing hitbox doesn't seem to be a thing
@leviathanr53 That's not how math works. A man running 5mph takes 1 hour to run 5 miles. A man running 10mph takes 30 min to run 5 miles. The man running 10 mph is 100% faster than the man running 5mph.

As of now I don't really see why I should fight her at all unless I'm part of the last team on the server. Only gives you 1 bounty token and is a pain to fight if you're not equipped for it. I feel like it should be a lot larger, a lot more threatening and a lot more rewarding (gameplay/money). Now it's just an average alligator
Is anyone actally playing rain? It sucks so hard i onlyn played it once and then decided to skip playing rain and gatorboss totally for the whole event. Rain Breaks hunt Showdowns Sound which is the reason what makes hunt so great. Cant hear anything.
In Update 1.14 they made ROTJAW trigger from further distance when hunters get close, so it might be harder to throw the dynamite

Poison bolt is easy too and efficient
Silenced nagant with poison is extremly effective against all boss targets except the spider!

you can kill her faster. find her lair-> figure out where she is beached on the shore -> cook dynamite bundle -> insta kill her-> profit?

You can also hold a sticky for 8 seconds and stick her while she's sleeping. Which leaves her at around a quarter health.

She spawns only In low visibility time of day, you probably had Dusk which counts as low visibility

I second this. I didn't fight her many times, that's why I remember that in one of the fights she left me bleeding. And I was playing alone.

I mean it isn't really complicated, just fight them mid to long range.
defending a rotjaw bounty is honestly a terrible position to be in, as the attacker you have a huge advantage as long as you have mid-long range guns.
