Mr. Beat compares and contrasts two border cities that meet at the Mexico-United States border. One has a reputation for being one of the safest cities in the United States. The other has a reputation for being one of the most dangerous cities in the world.

    San Diego and Tijuana
Two sister cities separated by a heavily protected international border between the United States and Mexico.
It’s illegal to cross over that fence. If you want to go back and forth between the two cities, which hundreds of thousands of people do every day, you must go through one of three checkpoints. The largest of these checkpoints, the San Ysidro Port of Entry, is the busiest land border crossing in the Western Hemisphere and second busiest international land border crossing in the world.
The San Diego-Tijuana metropolitan area is the largest metropolitan area along that U.S.-Mexican border. While both San Diego and Tijuana are known for their stark differences, they probably have more in common than you think. And who knows, maybe if that giant fence wasn’t there, they WOULD have more in common.

Fun fact: there are many radio stations in Tijuana that are targeted towards San Diego listeners. For instance, XETRA-FM is an English language alternative rock station that must abide by Mexican radio regulations. Like, they have to give their station ID in Spanish every half hour, and in the early morning and at midnight, they're required to play the Mexican national anthem.

An important mention is that the rents here in TJ, though cheaper than in SD, are mostly inaccessible to our own residents. Most landlords tend to charge overpriced rents in dollars (when the mexican currency is peso) because the market is hugely inflated. In addition to everything you mentioned, some other fun things to do in the Tijuana metropolitan area would include Rosarito Beach, Bajamar Resort, Calente Casino, Estadio Calente (which is home to the Xolos, the pro soccer team in TJ), The Guadalupe Valley wine region, and Puerto Nuevo lobster. Other fun things to do in the San Diego metropolitan area would include sport fishing out of Pt. Loma, Legoland, SeaWorld, Belmont Park, Del Mar Race Track, La Jolla Cove, and Julian's apple and wine country. Best of all, both cities have the best taco shop food you will ever have, anywhere. One drawback of both cities is the mass transit systems are severely lacking. San Diego's is getting better, but they still have a lot of work to do to be as good as most other big cities.

Roberto's, which started in San Ysidro in 1963, claims they invented the California burrito; they are definitely a popular local chain. The real idea behind the California burrito is that the hot potatoes make the burrito more filling for early morning appetites, particularly the appetites of surfers. You should compare 2 metropolitan areas in Mexico that are pretty big and both kinda equal
    Guadalajara and Monterrey
Both metropolitan areas have around 5 million people and are the 2nd and 3rd largest respectively in all Mexico, these city's make sense to compare them since they're quite similar in size and Mexico city is too big for the rest of the city's in Mexico
