What is liquidity? It's how much volume a stock has, how much action. This term is vital when it comes to trading stocks.
If you’ve read my book, “An American Hedge Fund,” you know about my $500,000 loss. I took a big position on an illiquid stock. It didn't matter that I wanted to get out. There were no buyers. Here’s how you can learn from my big loss.
These days I take very small positions. I trade safely.
My huge loss was an illiquid stock. I had hundreds of thousands of shares that I wanted to sell, but the stock wasn't trading. You don't want to have this giant position and get stuck in it.
The cool thing about trading with a small account is you can usually get in and out pretty quickly. A lot of big traders and investors can’t always do that.
A lot of these penny stocks can have great stories and seemingly amazing products. But if no one's trading the stock, stay away.
I think there can be so much opportunity with low-priced stocks ... IF you're trading active stocks. Do your research. Check the chart and the volume. Make a trading plan and stick to it. Take a piece of the action along the way.
For me, I like taking small positions so that I can get in and out. My sweet spot is usually around a few million shares traded per day. That's the liquidity level that I like. As you trade more, you’ll gain more experience. You’ll learn what you like, and it might not be the same as what I like. We're all different.
Find the liquidity level that you're most comfortable with. For me, I stay away from the truly illiquid stocks and focus on volatile stocks.

Well, Ive recently taken 3 weeks off cause I was just doing allot of revenge trading. During that time i just went back to studying anything and everything and im happy to say ive just had my first big win today of 151% on my small account. Thanks for everything Tim and ill be sure to continue learning and improving!!

interesting stuff about volume. How about the $volume vs number of shares? cause some of these penny stocks are so low priced that even a mil or mil shares may not be much $ wise... do you also filter through the dollar amount? and of so roughly how much/what range?

what i do is I check for the flow of the market and I see which pair is leading or lagging in the group of the flow and pick the one that matches my othysis
I don't day-trade but I manage/balance my portfolio at least twice a month. Always studying and looking for opportunities!

I studied from janurary/feabruaryish until the end of june where I made my first paper trade on StocksToTrade on the 26th with $CETX then paper traded since so almost 2 full months. Up $1200+ paper on profit.ly as TessaL
I've been only studying for about a year now, getting ready to pull the trigger and start in the next few months though.
Ben Barksdale same here, I've only spent $30 in natural gas with $CHK and made $10 with the spike on Monday and I don't plan on making another trade for months.

Yes I am. I've been doing really well. I'm coming up on 6 straight green months thanks to you and Tim Bohen. It's been impossible to build my bankroll because I use it as an extra income because my Bill's are pretty high. I'm waiting on a contract change so I have some retirement money to trade with that I don't have to wire out to pay bills every month.

I’ve been studying for close to 2 years now. I work construction hours.. So It’s a bit hard trading. When I get home, for the past month I have been taking notes on stocks and their plays.. trying to “experiment” as you would say. Swing trading so far seems to be my best option , just sometimes hard pulling the trigger and/or letting losses go being under pdt

JohnG TV1977 Tim says to get out of Robin Hood ASAFP. They use what is called a market order for their customers, and this is not a strategy you want. Check out Tim’s video about Robin Hood and market orders

I’m doing both Tim, I’ve spent a couple of years studying first and this year I’ve been trading very very small/mini/micro positions on Robinhood, just to taste the waters but for some reason I don’t trust this Broker/Platform, the only double edge sword here Tim is that, Robinhood is very affordable and it is something that I can afford so far to start knowing the market, so I’ll try to keep it safe, trying to identify and recognize your patterns there and small positioning always...

I’m studying I’ve been studying non stop for close to a month 40 gigs of you tube videos the 30 day boot camp and all the free Literature I can find probably 10 hours or more on average daily i listen all day at work and from the time i get out of work until i go to bed i study while i am cooking cleaning bathing using the restroom i’m going to do the boot camp over and over until it’s memorized
I like to learn on the job so i do both!
