I usually prefer market orders when the stock is super volatile so I can get in pretty quickly. I haven’t gotten bad entries but thanks for shedding some light on how they can be dangerous.
Limit orders. Because of TOPS a few years ago I held it overnight and was up like a dollar a share, it was bouncing around, market sold for what was around a $300 gain and boom. Dropped right when I sold and turned the $300 gain into 200 and was right back to the price I thought I was selling at in seconds.
Not trading, working my way through Pennystocking Silver DVD's, Trader Checklist, all Steadytrade Podcasts and more video lessons before I start paper trading for a month as you've previously suggested to get used to how fast the market moves and then start with small sizes. Prepare, prepare, prepare.
I discovered you a month ago and did not understand alot of the terms you were using, now, after listening to your video's everyday, i am getting it.. getting better and better each day and getting ready to be ready.
Hey man, congrats on the progress youve been making! I am about a year into my research and do not have a brokerage account yet, although im close. If you havent looked into it, i highly recommend you check out a trial version of StocksToTrade or any other software, just to watch the markets move. During the trial i was paper trading, and it really helps you get a better understanding of the whole process. Also, look into that Complete Pennystocking Guide, its an invaluable resource, even well after reading it. I hope you find this information useful!
You learn from history! (I'm a student of yours now, 2022), I am just a month into learning and was struggling with stop orders. In my defense, the course has SO MUCH information (not complaining, it's a good thing) anyway, I didn't catch the fine tuning while I was practicing. So, tonight I still needed to put in more study time but I was taking a break and surfing your channel. I like the interviews, they are so good! Anyway, I found the answer I was looking for in this video. You're still saying the same things 4 years later and they are still every bit as applicable to the market and my training today! So glad to be part of the challenge and the team! I cannot thank you for all the thousands and thousands of hours you have put into all the lessons, videos, market review, chats, newsletters and alerts that make successful. P.S. I know as your student I could have shot support an email, and had the answer, or for that matter asked you in chat, and I appreciate knowing I have that as backup or get stumped on something, but if I dig and find the answer myself, IT STICKS! Limit orders all the way!
I've experienced it the past few days (very small trades to test theories) but did not know what it was. Decided to read books and came upon the term and decided to watch your take on it as I learn from you.
I mostly use limit orders. However, when I was raising cash to buy a car last month, I used market sell orders to make sure all the stocks sold that day so I could have the cash before the end of that week.
Yeah, I use limit orders, but sometimes don't get filled, especially on the paper trading where the price is moving but my data is delayed a bit. Or I see a price go the OTHER direction, and I try to cut my losses quickly, and I don't get the best price on the exit.
Thanks for the tip Tim, my biggest losses in trading OTC are because of slippage, imagine buying a false breakout and the price just drop without filling you to get out of the trade. Really frustrating !
I've only done sim trading and market orders have been quite generous on TD. Once I found out about slippage a few days ago I had to do some research. I also am considering lightspeed for real trading when I'm ready because their execution is supposed to be top notch
Hi, I want to buy an OTC stock to hold it for a long period , I don’t want to sell it, my question is, what price should I put in the limit? I thought that I can choose market order and buy at that price , but if I have to set the limit, how can I know the price? I mean, it’s an OTC stock and I’m fine with the price (I don’t know what to put a lower price
Had a couple of issues with Limit Orders recently. Had 4 good trades that hit the Take Profist levels but due to one reason or another the Orders were not Executed: How do i find out on TV whether its slippage, volume, or what not?
I'll be using your advice on limit orders. Makes sense to me and I would rather be in control of my decisions on entry and exit points. Thanks for making it so clear as to looking at your performance above the money!!! I think that is one of the biggest things as I get started is to not focus on money but rather am I executing a good plan? Like you always say, we need to know even in a loss that did we make a good play or did I lose because I was stupid and shouldn't have been in that particular trade?? Thanks man
Yes, I put orders before I start seen your videos, I learned options trading but now I see more potential in the penny stock trading, thank you for all your videos
I came to this video today because of this. Was buying about 700 shares of a 1.65 stock. Was watching the candlesticks and put in market order. Got filled almost 15 cents higher
Hey Tim thanks for the video. I’m going to order the book ASAP. Have been watching all the UA-cam content first and plan to sign up for your challenge by the end of this month. Already placed the application in. Is there any future sales coming for the trading tickers, penny stock frame work, etc...? J/w. Will be getting them ultimately either way. Love ur style of teaching and am stoked! to get started! Just from UA-cam I have a false sense of knowledge and want to start trading now but know I need to put more time in. Thanks again for all that you and your team does. It’s providing a light to the tunnel of $hit we all have to walk through. I seriously feel and know that I can do this.
Nope, no orders yet. Going to start trading after the T&I Summit in FL this year and join STT Pro with Tim Bohen, plus other learning plans I have before I start. Also, waiting for my interview for your challenge. Thanks Tim, your videos always help!
Tim you so funny your videos not just about getting info but getting entertained 😁😁😁love the video I just got this slippage thing and my reaction was exactly the same . 😁thanks for video !
i know this is an old video, but i put in a buy limit order for a stock at $57.20. a few minutes later the stock went to $57.19 for a few seconds but my order wasnt fulfilled. is that because not enough shares were being sold at those prices? SORRY IM NEW!!
love you, Tim, still learning from you,i paper trade with TD Ameritrade, have trouble with strategy, entry, and exit and getting a trade downright, saw your video on supernova and breakdown, breakout, and many more, want to learn practice seem hard can't find the light at end of tunnel, to get over the hump,i read and watch video from you and bullish bear a lot on thinkswam platform, but it doesn't come easy what would you do sir.
Limit orders yes I was trying to get every penny I can and losing not executing the orders. But know I have to have cushion on the win and the losses to execute the order. What do you think about HOT KEYS? I am trying to set up in Etrade.
Hi I am here because last night I ordered (Sell) doge/usd with the price of $0.65 then I slept, when I check the in to my bittrex account I saw the 24HR changed from $0.43 - $0.70. Same with with BTC I ordered (Buy) in an of $57,000, the 24HR changed is from $56,700 to $59,300. I just slept for only 6 hours, I don’t know why my orders (LMT) didn’t fullfilled. It’s still on my orders section. Why bro? Could you please help me to figure it out. Thanks
I've only been reading for about 8 months. Im on Robinhood currently, will be switching to TD very soon. But I've put in a lot of orders that didn't fill, and it's extremely frustrating. I bought shares for one at .45, and set a sell at .53. It not only hit .53 multiple times, but actually hit .55 before it dipped again. Very frustrating
I'M THINKING ABOUT BUYING A SHIT LOAD OF SNDL CONTRACTS FOR CHEAP IN THE MONEY OR REALLY CLOSE RIGHT....... AND SET A SELL LIMIT ORDER 2 CENTS ABOVE THE NEXT TRADING DAY EARLY AT 4 AM... AND ONCE IT GOES THRU RINSE AND REPEAT 1000 TIMES 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes, I've made stock orders. Definitely been listening to your warnings and have only been trading on limit orders, although i have had some losers/winners that have had some slippage . Its definitely something im working on and trying to get that important experience on, watching lvl 2 and time and sales, mixed with my trading plan. Its been 3 months since ive started trading and I know that it doesn't happen straight away, but im slowly starting to see the difference. Thanks for always drilling these lessons into me so I dont get complacent and stay focused! #drillsergeant
I’m so confused I’m on robinhood and I get a message randomly when I buy certain stocks it says that my order has been partially filled and that my order still remains open for the vast majority of the money that I put in to buy my position, but when I go to the actual stock it shows it all there as being accurate. It also shows above the message saying that it’s been partially filled that my order is complete... but then the partial execution one comes shortly after... any suggestions?! I’m just doing market orders in dollars and I’m just this message(I’m a noob and some help would be great)
@@TimothySykesTrader wait so am I out of my money? When I go to the stock itself it accurately shows all of the money I had put in, but in my messages it says that it’s partially executed for a very little amount and that the vast majority is still open and that I can cancel the remaining order. I’m just confused
Hi Tim I’m a beginner and trying to find a trading platform that’s not governed by the PDT rule and I can use in Canada for day trading like yourself.....which is a good one for myself if you know??
Im using Robinhood and the limit sell and limit buy order work well never had a problem with execution . Robinhood is not bad for beginners and level 2 is a most have . I started with only 500 gaining 40 15 70 dollars profits I recently added to my buying power for a bigger profit . Once I have learned enough I'll switch to E-Trade and keep both.
Tim, I know your feelings about Robinhood, but you can set limit orders, and it’s super simple, just 1 additional button to push. Again, I know you think it’s good to pay commissions, and I know you hate that OTCs can’t be traded on Robinhood, and that you can’t short on Robinhood, BUT overall it’s not the enemy.
Don’t follow his rules. Do actual research and learn the stock market on your own. Because then if he’s wrong and you lose tons of money following his advice instead of learning how to read charts and do it yourself then you’ll be assed out. So just read a book on stock market or pay for a legit stock market course
not at all, the most money is in the smallest dertails, watch the video 3x at half speed to make sure you understand because right now your atittude holds you back
Do you use market or limit orders? Tell me why below!
Hey Tim, I put limit orders when dip buying and buy stop orders when buying "clear" breakouts, what u think?
Thanks for the video
Yes, I’ve made the mistake of market orders when I first started trading but I’m never using them again.
I was literally watching Trader Checklist Part 4 and needed you to elaborate more on this very topic.
I usually prefer market orders when the stock is super volatile so I can get in pretty quickly. I haven’t gotten bad entries but thanks for shedding some light on how they can be dangerous.

New to day trading. Done long term investing for 5 years. Whats the best broker to prevent limit order slippage? e-trade or stockstotrade?
Si, you buy OTC stock to sell them and not to hold them for a long period of time?

Crazy to see all of this free content and you only have 7.5k views. I know I'm a few decades late to the game, but some people never even showed up 😁😁
Why when I put a limit order and the penny stock reaches the price that I set, my broker doesn't buy it?
Im having the same issue in the otc market im looking at lslpf . Please help what can i do to get it filled im buying 1mil shares is it why??
that may be because there are people who also wanna buy the stock at the same price you wanna buy it

Limit orders only. Paper trading w/STT.
i had an order for TQQQ for one share. the price hit the limit many times but never executed last week. this is why im here
A couple of times I put in a limit sell order, it didn't fill right away or it partial filled.
Yes, both. And yep, never use market orders.
