One of my favorite patterns is to short the first red day on a pump and dump. So how do you spot this pattern? And what the heck is a pump and dump?
I want to you be a smart, self-sufficient trader. You gotta remember that about 90% of traders reportedly lose. That’s why transparency is so important to me and why I show every single trade - win or lose. I share how much I’m risking. And it’s not just one screenshot, one trade. I’m open about every single trade.
A pump and dump is when a company - or an insider, investor, or third party - pumps up the stock. They hype it to try to bump up the stock price so they can sell their shares or do a financing. They pump up the stock price, then dump the shares. That's a pump and dump.
And when these stocks are spiking, it can be a good time to short sell or bet against it.
So how do they pump the stock? It can be through a press release or a social media campaign. A lot of these companies invest money to promote their stock. Why? Because they want the stock price to go up.
Why is this useful? I'm just trading the price action and the technicals. This is how this game usually plays out. I’ve seen it a lot. I'm not even amused by it anymore, and I’ve learned how to profit from it.**
You have that first red day in the chart ... The whole goal is to get people to believe in the company and buy the stock. After five to seven days in a row of the stock being up and then the volume drops a little, there's not as much buying happening. That’s usually the first sign that the pump is over.
Let me give you one quick note here: If you're waiting for the first red day to short, often there are no shares to short. A lot of traders know about shorting the first red day now, so you kinda have to anticipate the first red day, which isn't as easy.
That said, three of my patterns - catching the bounce, dip buying, and the long kiss goodnight - are all covered in my Pennystocking Framework course.
Personally, I enjoy dip buying the morning panics. But you need to study, experiment, and practice to find what works best for you.

I started a few months ago going the safe route and getting into it slowly. I have been learning alot though and have good studying and research skills. I'm just barely breaking even right now. Still waiting too recover from my first buy which was a mistake lol. I know I'm profitable and I know I'll get there but how much is your course? I could learn on my own but it will take alot longer. Wouldn't mind taking your course if it's not too much

But is the crash predictable only? Or can you catch it before/while it pumps also? I think I’d rather be on the side of the shorts on the crash but I would like to know from your experience, if you do see this.

I'm not profitable at all. Inherited 165000 dollars and picked some very bad stocks for long time. Deutsche Bank, Mallinckrodt, Microvision, Mattel... Now I have only 40k. This is exactly what I experienced. However, I read all the disclaimers and SEC filings and was able to ride the pump up, made a 60% ROI and walked away. I met my goal and now looking for the next one!;)

i saw a pump today dump within 6 minutes after it spiked. You could have rode the pump for a real fast 100x gain but it fell off the cliff right away. .76 cents to 1.09 real quick but then it nose dived. now sitting in the .60 range . the real pump was in the morning pre market .40 cents to 1.29 .

Hey, i hope you see this question. A few traders tell me that pump and dumps are becoming very rare these days. How often in a year you see a pump and dump?
it depends on the year,stop trying to make this an exact science, it's not
beginners luck i guess....i am down 2k on both idex & mvis but up 5k each on both aldx & ontx holding qlgn & srne & uavs & boxl...not sure im doing the right thing here but i do love learning. starting w 100 in may im at 129 but was up to 132. hope to recoup on the 2. i dont short yet i dont now how fully. new follower.

What do you think about the meteoric rise of the BYND stock price (**NOT a penny stock***)? Their IPO launched on May 2, 2019 at about $30 USD approx, now it's at $222 USD approximately!?!? 😞😟

I'm one of Tim's students and whenever someone has brought up a non-related stock that he won't trade. He will say "stop wasting my fucking time, who cares" he means well :) anything really above $10 he wont trade anything over $20 he wouldnt even look at it

Hey bud I have full time and had the same issue . I got a td ameritrade free account and downloaded TOS from them. then used the “on demand” feature so I could trade any day any time 2 am doesn’t matter . Then I’d go to precision day trading on UA-cam who posts live scanners ever day and has them back stocked for over a year . So I’d find a scanner from whatever day I wanted and sync up the time with my on demand and bam free “real time” scanner and simulator . Now that I’m in the real market this was a very realistic way to practice whenever I can and get used to how the market moves. Document ALL of your trades in excel . And be as honest as you possibly can . If you are not the only thing that’s going to be affected is your profit in real life so just pretend it’s real . Don’t take advantage of the software. It’s very easy to make 1,000,000 if you know what’s gonna happen. Also study study study . Whatever you can whenever you can . Then after your numbers are where you want them then sign up for super nova alerts on profitly. Get some type of broker who allows mobile trading so you can manage your trades at work and your started .
@ShanTyShae Mo I’m probably not the best person to ask . I do it a lot but I’m far from professional. If I had to guess for myself doing the same thing I’d bet on -4000 lol . If that doesn’t work I wouldn’t do it.

Unfortunately I keep falling for pump and dump schemes and you've described the exact behavior of management and insiders. It sucks, so many of them and the whole market feels toxic, where is the SEC?

You had me at "be cynical" HAHAHA, I am just negative about stocks, I just started back, I could be an infomercial for losing $$$ I got hammered by Seadrillers 10 years ago so bad that I quit that same 10 years ago.
Not profitable yet, but close. PDT rule is hard! I get in and want to get out of a trade that goes against me, but I end up letting a loss go a little longer than I should because I have such limited opportunities to trade. I was right on a dip buy but just a little too early.
