🔥 My Keyboard comparison video • TOP 6 MIDI KEYBOARDS i...
This is my first hands-on video about the Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 keyboard (not the Akai MPK Mini MK3). The Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 is a small, light, and cheap keyboard that Akai makes. The Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 has onboard sounds and a built in speaker. Yes, this keyboard has a speaker! In this video you can hear the Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 sounds and I walkthrough all the best features including DAW control. I discuss the features, the size, the feel, and demo some sounds included with the MPK Mini Play MK3 keyboard. The Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 has lots of features including an arpeggiator, note repeat, drum pads, encoder knobs, and more. You can hear the onboard sounds as well. This midi controller keyboard is light and easy to carry around. However, the Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 is missing some features that other keyboards in this price range have. Watch and find out!

I bought one for my 10 month old baby. it is a lot more comfortable to listen to than the sounds from baby toys. it has been his favorite toy since day 1.
This is such a good idea 😂
Did the same for my 2.5 year old lol. It's nice for taking on vacation also as you can actually work on some ideas with this together with a portable recorder, and the battery operation is a huge plus. Plus I can use as a midi keyboard anyway if he gets bored of it, so it's a win win from any viewpoint.
Awesome dad move!
And who knows, he might end up becoming a great composer
He probably plays better than me.
Can’t even express how much I’d love to see Arturia’s „play” version of the Minilab
Oh man...that would be crazy!
YES!!!
Probably see Behringer doing it first!!!
I'd like to see a Novation Launchkey 37 Standalone, with sequencer of course
Whattt that got arturia play ???
I love how OCD everything in your house and videos is. It's so soothing the way it's all clean, organized, and arranged in 90-degree angles.
Wow...thanks...I put in a lot of effort to makes things attractive for my viewers. Glad you noticed.
Here hear.
I felt the same too, while watching this video :-)
I like that too, but we really shouldn't throw around the term OCD. It's a debilitating thing for many and hasn't got to do with liking things neatly organized
OCD.. 😆
I ordered one of these last night. I needed something portable to work on chord construction while away from the house. The ability to make complete music is an added bonus. Your video was a big help in me choosing this. Many thanks.
Headphones output is the game changer for me.Straight into the looper.
🤯 I know I was there, but watching back it’s so crazy to hear all the beats you make naturally on the fly when demo-ing the sounds! 🤟🏾🙌🏾
Wow...thanks so much! :-D
As a guitarist primarily I took one of my looper pedals and ran the headphone out of the mini play to its input. I then record a drum track using the pads. Afterward, I can add infinite number of melody tracks as well as more drum overlays. Easy way to make a song if pc not available.
How did you connect the guitar to min play ?
No guitar. Ran headphone out directly to guitar looper pedal so in essence the MiniPlay replaced the guitar as sound source. Once recorded I can add more mini play tracks or even connect a guitar to overdub some more parts. My looper has tracks to save the loops so I don’t lose them when disconnected from instrument.
I used a 3.5 TRS TO 1/4” adapter cable. Mini plug goes in headphone out of miniplay and guitar jack goes to input of loooer. The miniplay has such cool sounds I wanted way to save riffs since no built in sequencer.
You could also connect through a audio interface this way. I have a Fender Jr Go amp with built in looper and connect it into one of the inputs with an adapter cable mentioned above. Lots of alternatives. Ric
This would be great to use with the sheeran x looper 👍
You always do the best reviews Sanjay I love this midi keyboard this is a must have for my recording studio
Thanks so much!
What a great in depth review. I don't see it replacing my minilab but...BATTERIES! This looks nice for an on the plane/train/bus person that likes to play.
Thanks, Pat. Yeah, I think there's certainly a place for a keyboard like this
This is cool for maybe being on a plane and having an idea. Only issue is you can not record it.
@@heardpromotions hoo yes,, if i but this AKAI,, i ll Always bring m'y po-33 ,,,for record ideas,,,, or, at home, Always plugged in my boss rc30 looper,,,... Bye
Amazing review Sanjay! The fact the Akai MPK Mini play MK3 comes with onboard sounds and a built in speaker, along with the ability to save our presets for quick access makes this midi Keyboard user friendly.
Thanks. Yeah, they actually executed this pretty well - especially for people who already like the AKai MPK form factor
This paired with a portable battery pack would be pretty sweet! And you're absolutely right - adding effects to the built-in sounds really does make them sound better! This could also be a great option for a secondary instrument for gigs (for horn players, acoustic drummers to be able to add electronic drums easily and inexpensively) ...while keeping your expectations in check, that is!
idk, AA batteries are quite easy to carry around and are only like $4 for a pack of 8. It’s better than rechargeable imo… still though, an option would be a welcome addition for some people, gotta agree with you there.
There are rechargeable AA nimh lion batteries you know which last for hours per charge, even charge with solar charger.. IKEA AA rechargeables have been tested against the rest and come out tops by Which? Magazine 2022/23 and they even awarded them a best tech award.
Thanks for the presentation.... You are definitely teacher material.. Excellent presentation skills... Thanks.. I am 70 years old love to do something different... I played piano, guitar in a band.... love my hobbies...
having built-in sounds and drums on this keyboard is underestimated, never has it been more disappointing when a family member wants to try your keyboard on when you get it on christmas and you have to say it doesn't do sounds at all and has to be plugged on a computer lol
@laze mz pretty sure you didn't get what i said, it's from the perspective of someone who makes music on a DAW and asks for a midi controller, but they can't make their relatives try it out of the box because it does nothing on its own
I actually agree with you tej. Sometimes, you just want to play or hand it over to someone to play. This does it.
@@SanjayC like myself and I work in pro audio. I’m so sick of computer screens Anything that compensates for less screen time Plus portability already got mine. If it wasn’t for MPC, FORCE & ABLETON I would’ve gone back to recording with a 4 track to tape. Updates breaking the computer calling companies I lock blah blah blah I spend more time dealing with software breaking itself then I do making music.
honestly i don't mind having to boot the DAW, i own the mpk mk3, it's just extra steps.
thats why it cost 150 bucks... Real drums cost 2000. plus
Thanks! Mine just arrived today, so I'm just here to peak at what it can do. Off to explore the sounds now. Wee!
This is perfect for a second low budget keyboard for church players, beginner gig pianists... Thanks for the good work!
How about combining it with a folding digital piano?
Dope lil keyboard! Shoutout 🐶 lol. Appreciate the review! Have a blessed weekend Sanjay 💯
I've just ordered it! I hope I'm going to be happy enough with it to keep it, so excited right now! It seems like a very good option for absolute beginners and given the price I can afford some studio hours for taking my skills forward on more sophisticated gear while figuring things out at home with the Mini Play. Being able to have it on the go is an amazing feature!
Are you enjoying it so far?
@@megajam5286 Hey! I cancelled the order when I realized I can get an NI KK A61 for just a bit more money. Eventually I sent it back because it had no velocity. I'll probably reorder this little thing or get an M32 from NI, the software on that one is richer.
Excellent review, as usual. Wow, another video - I wasn’t expecting one so fast. Great job!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks Sanjay. I bought a Yamaha Psr-e473 for $370. The synth snobs will no doubt start wailing but that thing is insane fun. Audio and MIDI over USB.
Nice recommendation. I've heard good things about the PSR line.
Thanks Sanjay, you're gret help, as always! AKAI Mini Play seems to be the perfect little AIO Retrowave / Synthwave factory, while being sold for nearly the same price as the non-play model + runs on normal AA batteries (unlike the non-play model) = instant buy!
OMG, it took AKAI 7 years after Yamaha released Reface DX / CS / YP to realize that portablility + built-in sound = AWESOME.
Let's hope it doesn't take them 7 years to release a Play verion of the 37-key MPK, too :)
(PS: Yamaha Reface DX is super awesome, and has my unending love. I have LPK25 too, and I'm buying this thing as well).
Mpc have built in sounds tho
If they release the 37 key in a play version I'm definitely buying!
You know what!? This Akai is obviously the absolute baby brother of the Professional MPC 61 Key!
Oh man, if it had some basic sequencing / recording functionality to put together a song it would be the near perfect AIO mini keyboard in my eyes. As it stands now though, seems like a fun gadget if you're really into playing piano on the go, but otherwise doesn't have much added value over the non-play version.
True. Turn it on anywhere, and record ideas. That's what I'm searching for. Akai could implement sequencing by firmware update. If one could also upload user samples (it's a sample based unit anyway), this thing could rock for a very low price.
Yes, and I agree with Tower Runner - loading your own samples would be awesome
I've been latching the arpeggiator & playing the pads live, which is sort of sequencing/recording, I guess. Also, been playing pre-recorded midi parts from Ableton back into the MPK. Got 3 different sounds playing at the same time!
@@mistrustmusic Using the arpeggiator for recording is a cool trick. Thanks.
@@mistrustmusic The "third" sound doesn't work. The MPK Play doesn't have midi in it, does it?
So the sounds can only be controlled via the keyboard.
Nevertheless, the device is fun! i have the older version. The sounds can be edited well. and it sounds really good with headphones!
Nice... was waiting for this. Thx my friend!
Always...hope you enjoyed the video
They really should make a mini play PLUS. That would be an instant succes with the extra keys.
I have the Mark 2. It’s fun plugging it into a looping pedal and making a little songs
Another video! Rapid lately 🙌
Hey Cameron, early commenters always make me feel like you all are sitting right here with me!
@@SanjayC For once notifications worked 🥳 always a great watch 🙌
clean review, with good excpectation management of the things like the speaker.
I appreciate that!
The finally made it! I was asking for a small midi keyboard with build in sounds and pitch bend for 15 years! YES
A VERY good option for kid to get used to all those fancy knobs and buttons taking price into account.
I love the pad though very deep
... I'll say It's like a Casio mini...
Hey Steve. DO you think you'd ever like a keyboard like this one?
@@SanjayC yea it's great for those moments when we get inspired on the go....
Always professional, but this time I‘m more interested in your wonderful doggy and cat, as I would never buy a mini-keyboard controller. Nevertheless it‘s Wednesday morning here in Austria and your promise of giving a review of this instrument is already here. 👍🏻👏🏻
Hello GAD and Austria! I love my doggy and cat...Doggy's name is Kyoto and she's a Silky Terrier. Cat's name is Rome.
@@SanjayC Very cool. And that a musician and workaholic has got time for animals must be appreciated. 25 minutes ago I saw a video where an owner had mistreated his little puppy and even the vet couldn‘t save this poor creature because of stomach injuries. Tears still come down my cheeks. I’m shocked. But I‘m happy that there are people for whom animals‘ lives are of great value.
Please treat your animals as if they were best human friends. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻
A simple sequencer would be cool for the Mini Play - to record ideas on the go. At the current state it's kids toy.
Yeah, that wouldn't been amazing
Just thinking about getting this for my 7y/o boy - he‘s very into music, can play a piano and likes to play around with songs/compositions. I think it could really spark some creativity and get him going into pc based producing… what’s your take on it? Thanks!!
Thanks Sanjay! An old friend wants to do some jamming/recording, and I want a portable keyboard to bring as well. Right now it's between this and the Minilab that Arturia seems to be blowing out on the cheap.
Thinking of getting this for my daughters 8th birthday. She started taking piano lessons a few months ago but she does not have anything to practice at home. I believe the small size will suit her plus the onboard sound and battery option are great. Would this be a good keyboard so she can practice some simple tunes? I bet she will have fun playing around with the pads also.
Melodics is cool! I tried it for a few months. With commitment and discipline, their lessons are extremely helpful for the price.
This is not melodics. U sound like a bot
Bought this one for practicing without a PC. Works great but I would love if there was any kind of looping function in it to work on song ideas.
might be cool for the diesel truck. thanks sanjay
Casio CT-S1 is a beast for less than $300. The piano sound is better than my nearly $3000 RD-2000.
Oh I'm sorry, for less than $250!
That's a good deal for sure. Does it have drum pads too?
@@SanjayC it is very basic as far as interface. You can't really tweak the sounds. You get a good speaker, great keybed for the price and 61 highly curated gig-ready sounds built-in. I think target market is people who gig in all kinds of random environments, or people who want better core sounds to add to an existing collection.
@@SixteenVoice Sounds lo-fi to me:
CTS1
ua-cam.com/video/2j5eF5VtsAA/v-deo.html
RD-2000
ua-cam.com/video/x3tRJf5sOSs/v-deo.html
you probably need to adjust/upgrade your speakers/headphones, CTS1 sounds lo-fi and a bit metallic, besides noisy, certainly beats at least the much pricier, versatile, and feature-laden Kross2 at a couple or sounds, but this is no RD-2000 killer
it will do for gigging and if you just need one sound at a time and such as RD-2000, MODX6, Kross2, etc. are all overkill most of the time 🤣
Duuuuuude this is so cool!
I wish there was looping on here tho😔………….
Yeah, that would be a game changer at this price range
@Sanjay C ikr
@@DrPrabhaMusic could connect a loop pedal through headphone jack
This would be perfect if it had a 6 or 8 track sequencer. Total portability for sketching ideas in dressing rooms or even out in the countryside. Or is there something like that I don't know about?
Thank you very much for your review. Mine just arrived today and this really helps
What I am longing for is an MPK mini plus play with 3 octaves. Much more useful for actual “players” ❤
What is something small and afordable like this but with a built in sequencer?
Lol, that was a nice flex with the watch. I see you out there.
I love my watches! :-D
Plug one of these into an sp-404 mk2 (another battery-powered device) and you got a stew going. Apply some effects and hit record. Recipe for fun
Yeah, I think you're right...but even the built in effects helped a lot. I was surprised.
As with your other videos - your explanations are great! Thank you!
Thx for this great review. I just bought because of your video. Loving you are so objective.
Keep on
Love
I'm disappointed you can't record that would really be like an old Casio 😕 I own an mpk mini black on black an I love it but was really hoping for the option to record on the keyboard maybe in a future version?
Wow, very informative. Thank you for sharing.
Just got this i am looping drums en melodies en play along with my guitar nice little toy.
Great review! Just ordered one today, so excited.
I will say i am seeing alot of people say that this new model is extremely challenging to make work with their included software (which doesnt make sense.) Do you have to install sound plug ins to play it, or does it play straight out of the box? I just want it so i can use it with my loop pedal and make music.
Thanks!
Mic that little speaker! I like it and I have pedals like the CSIDMAN for it. Or spice it up with a Roland E-4.
I was planning to buy this but decided to buy the novation launchkey 37keys. Its more of a complete controller than this. The lack of transport keys with akai was a downer for me. The LK is also integrated with Ableton. But the akai built in speaker looks a good deal if you want to tke it anywhere thats why i came back to watch your review if i should get one.
I feel like this is a mini jack of all trades kind of product. There are many far better and sometimes cheaper MIDI controllers. There are definitely better synths and keyboards out there. However, if you're in a pinch and need something that does all of this decently, this may just come in handy!
Totally agree!
I don´t know why they didn´t update with more modern and usable sounds, and looper and sequencer.
Yes they should’ve put a sequencer on this
Looper and sequencer would make it a no brainer...
Thanks ! My Question: it is possible via usb midi in ? For controlling the build- in -sound, with another midi controller?
Nice review, how about transpose, is it there?
What about the built-in speaker, is it any good? I need a little keyboard just for hitting notes and scales when singing.
But at the same time, I think if I got myself one of these I could maybe use it for Ableton/music production as well? 🙂
For a beginner I would recommend/ rather than buying a small MIDI keyboard (25 key) get a synth like the Arturia MicroFreak or Modal Skulpt, the Uno Synth. Lots of good intro options.
They can be set up to use as MIDI controllers, introduced you to synths and saves you the money of buying them separately 🤷♂️
I would do the same....BUT...question for you: if you were a beginner do you think a synth like the MicroFreak might be a little overwhelming?
@@SanjayC it could be yeah, there are definitely easier synths, poly synths do tend to be a bit more complex but something like the Skulpt can be pretty nice. It is still fairly complicated but for a beginner, just realising it’s mainly only a shift button that makes it tough, it’s worth it imo. Especially as you get LOADS of presets.
Definitely depends on what the individual wants though
DAW control
Mono/poly etc 😃
Can you tell me the best easy synt whith no daw redy to use?
Excellent review as always. I just wish it had one more octave.
That would have been nice for sure. Maybe they'll make another one
@@SanjayC I'll buy if they do.
Get this Sanjay, that Roland VR-730 I'm sitting behind can be powered by AA batteries but you still need an amp or PA. A built in speaker would have been nice but I guess it wouldn't be considered "Pro" is they did that. But doesn't it having a battery option kinda say that too? All a bit silly to me.
Good honest review, I've got the orginal limted edition version with red and black keys. I fancy the Arturia this to use on a show I'll be writing for in May. Which Arturia model would you recommend? I have the Arturia Collection too.
If you need onboard sounds, you should try the Arturia Microfreak - its a synth of course, but so much fun and great value
@@SanjayC Thanks so much bro I'll definitely check this out. Thanks for the advice 🎹👍🏾
i sanjay, i would ask about the arpeggiator: the only thing important for me is if you can choose a MANUAL sequence in the ARP (usually are UP DOWN RND ..)
Thank you for the tutorial. I just got mine, but am confused about if you need to plug into your computer to get all those various sounds. Also, is the DAW also part of the software package and does it include Ableton live? I haven’t plugged mine into a computer yet since I need to buy a new one.
I'm a guitarist / vocalist / live looper, and have been thinking about finding a simple way to add some keyboard bass lines and pads to my live rig. I don't want to bring a computer to my gigs. I had been considering buying one of those midiplus usb sound modules along with my Arturia minilab keyboard, but this seems like a simpler option for me. Would you recommend this product for this purpose? If not, do you have any other recommendations?
I like your thought and I believe this is the best option for both of us.
i was looking to buy a mini keyboard to "learn" playing the piano / practice on the go. Found the apk mini on amazon (not the play, the midi version), understood that its a synthesizer in need of a computer to play, and not really a keyboard piano. landed on your video, ordered it within 3 mins of watching lol. the speaker and aux and the no need of a computer plus the ability to also make musik with a computer are a dealbreaker. cant wait to receive it, hope i made a good choice!
How is it?
I’m considering getting one so it would really help
@@Kazinga123 it is worth the money i would say. built in speaker is nice, just the keys are a bit small. if you play the piano for example you will find them tiny. all in all i like it to be honest. as i wrote, the speaker and aux and the no need of a computer plus the ability to also make musik with a computer are a dealbreaker
@@jayang1673 the main part I like is the making music without a computer part, but as a pianist 2 octaves of small keys is just kinda hard to use so I’m trying to find similar with another octave and hopefully full size keys
Thanks for the feedback though!
best review ever
For on the go i prefer connecting 3.5mm connection plugged to android headphone mic input to DAW instead of the MIDI controller simply for latency and sensitivity. There is more of a natural feel but of course using MIDI you can mod any sound to me its just a different feel and actually its a good value for the money that you have 2 options regarding "feel".
One will also develop a feel for the pads as for me if im outside i tap a little harder its all good but if im at a library needing to tap softer it becomes a skill to be able to have consistent velocity but playing ghost notes is great on this mpk. I think i need to develop skill for double bass when attempting a thrash metal beat because its kinda tricky to play snare drum rolls and metal kick drums the pads just become inconistent in response but it could be i just simply suck at double kick on the pad drums.
I have not checked if the mpk is tuned to 440hz but it would be nice to have the option to tune the onboard instruments to 432hz more as sonic healing therapy when feeling ill or depressed... for example.
The double AA battery option is dope af bringing me back to the 80s but also its very modern hardware so dont think its just a flashy casio. Its a must for those of you who love making beats spontaneously and are tired of just doing the grid on square at a time.
I love creating a simple MIDI programmed grid percussion kick hat snare 8 measures then 3.5mm drum pads over the programmed beat and just practice timing and velocity skills on the pads. Practice, hand workout, and also a recorded track that might stand the test of time all on a bus ride to work..
I hesitated for 6 months about purchasing this and i have no buyers remorse whatsoever i did my homework and it suited my specific needs
Without a basic sequencer it's just a noice toy. They should also upgrade the sound library to something better then the Casio keyboard library. Akai needs to make an MPK Mini Play Plus and they will sell millions.
now this in bigger ones! with yamaha and casio putting amazing sub 200$ digital pianos that also are midi now is time to add the features
Yes, I think we'll see more of these types of keyboards with DAW features and sounds included
How well does anyone think this would be for a blind person? Meaning preferably no touch controls, predictable way to access it's instruments by memorization rather than screens Etc. Also anyone use this with iOS like garage band on an iPad or iPhone, or perhaps with a Macbook? Was looking at this one since it offers the option of either using it with software or independently. Awesome review BTW.
Hi Sanjay, as allways great and informative video and thanks for that. Can I ask you please what's your opinion which MIDI keyboard up to 25 keys would be good solution for gigs and live performances with the bend as well as for home studio music production?
Thanks a lot
I'd love this😀..I'm ease "on the go" style..
Perfect!
Hi Sanjay (or anyone else who can answer), The main thing for me when looking for a controller is how mobile it is. I know they are all technically "mobile", but the AKAI Mini Play seems to be the only one I can find with battery power. This then obviously means you can use it in the middle of a field without having any other equipment. Are there other options like this is it it that the better options tend to need at least a laptop to go along side it.
This seems like a fun little toy! Really consider getting one for my cousin as a gift maybe one day he will be interested in music production as well!
I think this makes a really nice gift for beginners for sure
I've been researching and watching all the videos (thank you so much for your excellent reviews!) to pick a new keyboard controller. I wanted all the knobs and faders and transport controls, but I also wanted a keyboard that wasn't so deep that I needed to pul it out from under my desk too far. Also, I love the 73/75/76 keys, it's perfect for my space and I don't feel quite as boxed in as a 61 key. I kept looking at my MPK Mini Mk3, knowing I can program it to do a lot of what I want, but I've been really wanting faders. I was really leaning to the Novation SL61.. but the deep profile and 61 keys were already feeling like disappointment (It's a lovely controller, don't get me wrong). After browsing and browsing and browsing, I realized I could get separate units. A shallow no-frills keyboard with decent feel, and a knob/fader controller. Then I can upgrade either of them any time I want without having to sacrifice the other. Genius! 😂 I already have a 75 key that I am totally fine with for now. I watched your Ableton controllers reviews and other videos wasn't feeling the love until ah ahh! The clouds parted and the angels sang: The Akai APC40 MKII ! Faders, check, knobs, check, transport, check, AND an Ableton clip/scene grid!? Holy moly! It's now mounted on my desk where I can easily control everything and play the keys at the same time. I can't believe this thing is 8 years old. I didn't see a review from you Sanjay, on this unit. Maybe it'd be worth a look for your viewers! Thanks for everything Sanjay, it has really helped me!
Why not an 88 key? You can find a hammer action 88 key with midi output for like $65
@@wolfetteplays8894 I'm never going to need an 88 key. I'm never going to learn to play piano and need that much range. Also an 88 key won't fit under my desk.
You also have a Niche for tutorial videos.
You should do a video about
ALESIS SR16.
AND I WANT TO KNOW IF THE MPK MINI PLAY IS IT BETTER BUY THAN ALESIS SR16.
I WANT THE BEST BETWEEN THE TWO.
i think it would be so amazing if Akai and Arturia cabled and made an amazing new midi keyboard. So, here's what I'm thinking , the key bed of the Arturia minilab mk3, and akai's amazing mpc drum pads, and also mixed Fecher's from both keyboard. And i think instead of the joystick for mod we could have Arturia's touch strips and also the solid construction from the Arturia minilab. And i think that could be the next best midi keyboard controller.
Hi Sanjay, my 10 year old wants to get into learning and playing a midi instrument like this. Would you recommend this one for a total beginner or is there another that is more suited to kids?
Thanks!
The cheapest midi-connectable epiano keyboard is maybe yamaha a50.
Really wish I had got one of these instead of the standard version!
Please answer. Have you got a video of the previous mpk play with small square built in speaker. Also Wer the earphones input is. Can we connect to a portable speaker? With aux 3.5 mm jack
Wicked video ... though I'm still more tempted to get the Arturia Minilab. Currently using a Roli Lumi for quick ideas but wonder if I should make the switch. Look forward to your review of the new incoming Seaboard!
Yeah can't wait to see what new features they'll introduce on the Seaboard
So do I get it right that bascially all you need is this Akai MPK Mini Play mk3 to and e.g. the Behringer Pro VS Mini and you have everything a newbie could need, e.g. a sequencer, a synthesizer, a drum machine, a launch pad, a keyboard? Connect them via headphones out of the Akai to the Midi in of the Pro VS Mini and since the Akai has a speaker one could listen either via that or use headphones on the Behringer's headphone out - or listen via the Akai speaker and record from the Behringer Headphone out to e.g. a recorder app on the phone? Did I get that right?
i think you mentioned about it in the video but my english is not that good and i was not able to catch the phrases. what is the difference between AKAI MPKMINI 3 and AKAI MPKMINIPLAY MK3? i did not understand a think actually
Hi Sanjay - hope u notice.. how to factory reset the mpk mini play ?
What's the best way to sequence and layer stuff on the go with this baby? Plug into a device with FL studio or caustic I reckon?
?
Thanks for a GREAT review, man :D
Great review Sanjay... I've had the Mini Play MK3 for a while. Have you noticed the problem with the 4 knobs? You sometimes have to reset them to minimum to pick up the values!
This is a common issue with non-endless knobs. You always have to find the last point and then they pick up.
@@SanjayC thanks Sanjay. It's a pain when you switch between keys sounds & drums then back again, only to lose your perfect sounds!
This is a great review and video. Thanks! I found one for $50 used that I'm now going to buy.
Can it be plugged to a mixer directly through the headphones output or should I plug it to a direct box before the mixer?
Hi sanjay amazing review can you please tell me is it possible to upload or store more sounds on it
No you can't upload sounds into it. It can only be used with the sounds that are already on it.
wonderful..can i play the harmonium sound on this? thx
do you miss having more knobs? dang I sometimes forget my cable to connect to my iPad so this is helpful
I was fine with 4 knobs...but check out the video...I go into a lot more detail
@@SanjayC my apologies I got excited 😆
I honestly wish AKAI had a MPC version with speaker.
Can you plug a small little speaker into it (eg: a portable bluetooth speaker). Can it connect to it by bluetooth?
Hi it been quite a long while Sanjay. I'm planning on getting two more midi keyboards for my future music gear. I was thinking of these two depending how the keyboards feels:
M-Audio Keystation 49 MK3
Arturia Minilab MK2 or Nektar Impact LX Mini?
Full-sized M-Audio controller without DAW/plugin controls vs. two portable mini DAW/plugin controllers?
You should decide first if full-sized keys or mini keys, then look at several options with features you want from one category or the other, not both.
How you found the keybeds?
Should I go an buy one rn?
at least the speaker on that one is better than the one on the first versions of this keyboard. The original one had a very high end heavy speaker without much volume.
