Ohmygosh, New Castle Island is seriously our favorite park! We wish we could have gone ashore, but that's ok- we will be back. Question, when we were anchored in Nanaimo, it looked like the dinghy dock pub was closed, has it reopened yet?
Our videos started a little rough- we have since learned a lot about filming and editing. Our Alaska series and beyond have much more details about our stops.
@@CruisingMaya Oh yes, right... my comment was premature, you did a great job sharing your journey on subsequent parts... That was a fun circumnavigation for you guys and an enjoyable watch, cheers
Unfortunately, our dinghy motor was broken for almost the entire Van Isle trip..... Happy to report that after we replaced the carburetor it's working again!
We had a lot of calm days- also flukey winds. Kind of feast or famine a lot of the time in terms of wind. Also, timing tides/rapids had us keeping to a schedule.
Very enjoyable clip. I often sail to Nanaimo but have yet to experience Newcastle island. Do you recall the name of the area you were paddle boarding in? It looked stunning. AL.
Newcastle Island is so great! Cheap dock moorage too- and they have showers on the island! As for the paddle board clip, that was in Green Bay, up the Agamemmon Channel. Thanks for the comment!
We had one of those troublesome Honda 2.3hp outboards, very nearly just tipped it over the side. Replaced it with a Suzuki 2.5 for less than we paid for the Honda. No more noise, failure to start, stupid centripetal clutch etc. etc. When you're done messing up the Honda, the Suzuki is the way to go, and it is in the same weight range.
Thanks for sharing! OMG we are STILL having problems with that stupid little engine. I am OVER dealing that thing. We will look into suzuki. Thank you again- appreciate the comment!
@@CruisingMaya we bought ours from online outboardsonline.com for less than $800 w free shipping. Only issue we had initially was that I put too much oil in it. They reccomend filling with exactly 7oz. Of oil (I didn't read their instructions) . We are super happy with the engine!
@@FlyNineVictor I can deal with a simple oil issue. We are still trying to diagnose what is wrong with our honda. Next step is to replace the entire carburetor.... been replacing small parts within the carb, to no avail. Hoping that the issue is somewhere in the carb and that a new one will fix it. If not, we will be shopping online! Thanks for the tip (and thank you for subscribing!)
Circumnavigating Vancouver Island isn’t a joke… Dealing with the tides the current breaking out into the Pacific and even dealing with San Juan de Fuca is not a joke
Great video. I live on departure bay and can see Newcastle from my window. Thanks for stopping in!!

@@CruisingMaya It was sold a little while back and maybe when you came through was while that was happening. Yes it is open once again.
@@darrengriff471 glad to hear it's open again! We love that spot!
8:24…it’s not a flounder, it’s a sole!
You are very correct! Good eye!
Great video, many thanks for sharing amazing and beautiful music 🎶everything super awesome. Good luck to you guys ⛵
Thanks so much! We feel the music is very important for setting the emotion of the video so thanks for commenting! Cheers!
You guys checked in the Bedwell but then the video jumped over to Montague
We went straight from Bedwell to Montague. Forgot to film that stretch!
Be great if you'd indicate where you are and where you're going for all your stops. I live on the island and interested in your journey around...

Disco is a little champion! She loves the boat. :-)
How do you fix the dinghy motor how do you get back?

Have been following you, but you are always motoring. Does this mean this is not a sailing route?

Cool! When did you leave?
We left Anacortes on June 22nd, 2019.

Another Alberg! Yes! You'll love the boat. What year was it made? Where is your homeport?
That wasn't a shoe-fish; that was a sole! LOL
Right?! Haha!
