In this video, we cover our 77 day sailboat trip from Washington State to San Diego, California. We go over our route, lessons learned, we look at the metrics and discuss the trip and conditions we encountered.

Thank you!
Great video guys, many notes taken here. Hopefully bring our boat down in a couple years :)
The begining is the vancouver island circumnavigation imo! :)
325 people to over 6k now, you guys deseve it!
That Washington/Oregon/NorCal section was rough, but the cruising in Mexico is AMAZING. So worth the trek down here.
We've seen some growth over the years- you've been with us since very early on! Thank you for your support!
Hi Guys! I’m glad that you broke down the difference categories with brief explanations and costs. Thank you for this vid!!
Hope the info helped!
It will! Thx again Mac and Jenny!
Yes, a cutter rig would be nice but with the Portland Pudgy on the foredeck it would be difficult to have a fractional removable inner forestay that could be attached to the foredeck or stored at the bottom of the mast, or off to the side on the toe rail. If the forestay is not removable, the genoa and genoa sheets will tend to hang up on the inner forestay for the staysail. With an inner forestay, Pudgy would have to hang from the davits, which can get complicated depending on conditions. Good video - thanks.
Right now, our plan is to install a removable inner forestay. That's our wish any ways. We've got a big list of upgrades to make next season so we'll see if it happens or not. The pudgy on the front definitely presents problems... but we're not getting rid of that! We love our pudgy!
thank you. I'm in process of Seattle to San Francisco. you've confirmed all my thoughts.
Hope the video helped your cause! Thanks for watching!
And, You're still together! 😇
This is a great video for the bunch of us. Every story I have heard is, the worse part is getting to San Fran. I truly appreciate you letting us learn from you. You guys are fun to watch and we love your humor as well. Thank you for sharing.
Yea, that's a tough stretch to San Fran, but completely worth it for the cruising that's south of there. Thanks for watching!
Love this systemic approach to sailing the beautiful west coast. Inspiring and informative. 🎉
Hope the video was helpful! It was a big adventure!
Great reflections and fun to see bits of footage from your entire trip. This was a great shakedown for you and gave you exactly what you needed. Great reflections and love your constant humor and authenticity!
This was a fun episode to put together- lots and lots of editing (soooo many clicks). I'm glad you enjoyed it!
really informative, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for detailed cost breakdown.
You're very welcome- hoping our experiences will help others considering of heading down the coast. We learned a lot on that trip!
New subscriber sending greetings from Tucson, Arizona..
I'm 'bout settled on a Ta Chiao which is in Alameda, so this video of your adventures was good to save.
Hello! Glad to have you. Hope the video was helpful!
Perfect - thanks for all the info 😊
What's next?
Ever considered sailing down the west coast South America??
We've kicked around that idea! Patagonia sounds dreamy and remote!
Very very helpful.
Thanks for watching!
Very informative video. I'm sure many who see this will benefit from the info.
I hope so! We learned a lot on that trip!
Good video! Thanks.
Thank you- I hope it helps your cause.
Thats a great breakdown of both the trip and cost. Its a good help for people planning the trip south. You certainly got to see the sights! And the adventure continues!
We try to experience everything we can! Thank for the comment, Bob!
love your channel and adventures...
can show you around banderas bay when you come...it’s more fun than sea of cortez i think.
Thank you- we enjoyed our time in Banderas Bay. Indeed a lot of fun to be had!
Very informative...are there any books you can recommend for this trip?
Awesome info! Thank you so much! Ill let you know how our trip down to Mexico from Anacortes goes this year! :)
Thanks for watching! Good luck on your trip- our San Diego video has more of the regulations on the various anchorages around LA and San Diego. Very confusing and populated area down there, but there are options for anchoring!
Great info
Glad it was helpful!
this is terrific, all of this delicious data to sink my teeth into so I can dream of doing what you're doing.
Hope the video was helpful! Thanks for watching!
More great content!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
I asked in a different video but is that a Japanese fish print (Gyotaku) hanging next to you? Is there a story?
Yes, that is a japanese fish print. It's an artist we met in La Paz, Mexico. Great guy and great work. Here is the link to his store: www.etsy.com/es/shop/AdriGyotaku?fbclid=PAAaakSK15rIDi_CrNxgj3_HjleYt7st--w_w2arDPceuVTmCw9-64c0cYIVQ&load_webview=1&bid=-gbcJXprDH1SX_pFL08vExi9-IhV
Are you sailing back up the coast or you keeping your boat down there for a while.
No plans on bringing Maya back up north... a least for a bit. If we end up going back to the PNW we'll go via the Hawaii.
I wonder if it would of been easier on same size power boat?
Nice! -- BUT == It seems from watching your videos that your sailboat isn't a comfortable ride in wavy water. Kinda surprised about that since it looks super strong and has that Alberg old-school reputation. But it just seems to toss people around in anything but smooth water and makes you seasick quickly. Looked perfect on the BC coast when the water was super smooth and you were motoring.
Maya being our first boat we don't have much to compare in terms of rolliness. It was rough and exhausting out there on that northern stretch of water. We won't be signing up to do that stretch north of San Fran again any time soon!
@@CruisingMaya Fair enough. Love the sailboat overall though.

This could have been an hour video - very rushed.
