There's something special about a VoicePlay creation. And, every now and then VoicePlay does a more straightforward cover just to surprise us.
An analysis of the arrangements would be such a treat but I cannot imagine anyone tackling that task.
Well im not sure how I would analyze it . What questions would I ask ?

VoicePlay is known for their high quality videos, their theatrics, their creative arrangements and their amazing voices. They are currently a member short, so they have various guest artists singing with them to fill in that 5th voice. In this video it was the angelic high voice guy in the middle who was the guest Omar.
Besides Geoff, there is also the beatboxer Layne, the bald rock tenor Eli (rhymes with jelly) and the young latino baritenor Cesar. In older videos you may come across former members, so it can be a little bit confusing in the beginning 🙂
But Geoff, Layne and Eli will always be in these videos, they have been singing together for many years.

Wonderful reaction! Your enjoyment was evident. If you like theater you may enjoy The Wicked Medley from the Broadway show. For straight up fun a Capella maybe try Bang, Butter, If I were a Rich Man/Girl or any of their ACA top 10s (many of those one take live) or just take a stroll through their video library on their channel and see what speaks to you, pretty much every genre you could think of is in there, that's what I did when I first ran into them and got amazed. My personal favorites are The Bones, We're Good, Go the Distance, Warriors I could go on and on, so much wonderful content going back almost 12 years. Everything is a Capella and musical theater at it's very best. Also what everyone else said...

If this is your introduction to VoicePlay, you picked an excellent video to start off with! A great song from a fantasy game, with VP going all out on the production - sets, lighting, props, costumes, makeup - the whole thing!
On any VoicePlay song, I'm always a sucker for listening to whatever madness Geoff Castellucci is singing - and since he arranged this one, he's got no one but himself to blame for it all!
03:29 That low note from Geoff was a C♯1 subharmonic. It not only drops jaws, it also will rattle your dishes for you if you have the volume turned up too loud! And he sustains it for a good 10 seconds!
07:34 And then Geoff starts singing staccato arpeggiations so fast it'll make your head spin!
Others have already done great jobs with giving you background on VoicePlay, so I'll just give you some of my favorite recommendations.
Game-based videos: Warriors, Enemy (Arcane/League of Legends), My Mother Told Me, Valhalla Calling (Assassin's Creed: Valhalla), Halo theme (Halo)
Movie-based videos: We Don't Talk About Bruno (Encanto), Moana medley (Moana), Little Mermaid medley (The Little Mermaid), Oogie Boogie's Song (The Nightmare Before Christmas (TNBC)), This Is Halloween (TNBC), What's This? (TNBC), Hoist the Colors (Pirates of the Caribbean)...and a bunch of other "ACA" medleys from numerous (usually Disney) movies.
Other "dress up" videos: Hide and Seek (Ding Dong), Grimm Grinning Ghosts (both the official and live videos), Friends On the Other Side
Non "dress up" videos: I Can't Make You Love Me, Nothing Else Matters, Wellerman, If I Were A Rich Man/Girl
That should keep you occupied for a little while!

Look at you trying for 1,000 subs and now you are at over 3,000 in a day! I love Home Free but once I discovered Voiceplay they quickly became my favorite. They are a different kind of special because they make it a full experience. Even their low key videos are amazing because of their innovative and creative arrangements ❤

Since we're on the subject of video games would you please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover of " Halo * the theme song from the Halo video game ? The composer of the music said Voice Plays cover was better than his. That is the biggest compliment anyone could have. Wait till the credits stop rolling before you stop the video. Scott Porter pays homage to the game & a fallen member of their team. If you think this one gave you the chills wait to you hear Voice Plays cover of Halo.

Great reaction, guys! Here is probably too much information. Layne Stein, the beatboxer, and Tony Wakim, a baritone who left Voiceplay in 2016 co-own a production studio called Pattycake Productions. They do original videos there, rent there studio out to performers in the Orlando area. Voiceplay frequently uses Pattycake as well, as they did here. In the credits for their covers, they list all of the information about the production. I recommend Hoist the Colours next, it is a song from Pirates of the Caribbean 3.
Layne and Geoff have been singing together since middle school, professionally since 1997. They were called 4:2:Five (because they were sometimes four members, sometimes five) until they rebranded as Voiceplay in 2012. They have sung all over the world, toured extensively in the US until Covid shut the world down. Then they concentrated even more on their studio work. There have been changes in the lineup since 2020, they currently have four permanent members with featured artists filling the gap.
Geoff started doing his solo work during the shut down as well. Try his version of Shenandoah next, it is an old American folk song.

Voiceplay is the third group of tge Trifecta of Accapella groups. The ither two are Pentatonix and Home Free. All three are amazing and cannot be compared to each other.
They started in 1997 with Geoff, Layne, Earl, Scott and Mykal and were known as 4:2:5
Around 2010 after Scott and Mykal left they had a couple other members com and leave they changed their name to Voiceplay. They picked up Eli and Tony and began applying for the Sing Off.
To be on the Sing Off they had to have a female so Honey joined and they were on the 4th season (Home Free was on the same season and won). Home Free and Voiceplay became friends and recorded Zombies vs Hillbillies (short but worth checking out)
Eventually Tony decided he didn't want to tour anymore so he left the group and with Layne started Patty Cake Productions were most of their movies are filmed
It took a couple of years but eventually J None was chosen and they again had five members. They toured and released UA-cam videos until the pandemic caused problems. Earl them left the group for personal reasons. Not long after J None left to join the Navy, he promised to come back and he has kept that promise whenever he's on leave.
Cesar joined and they are still looking for a full-time fifth member. But they have been filling the fifth spot with featured singers.

In The Hall of The Mountain King is an orchestra piece from a play with Trolls.
Hide and Seek (ding dong) they are ghosts from the Disney ride The Haunted Mansion.
Name the genre and they probably have done it.

One of my favorites because it was the first VoicePlay I heard, Hoist the Colours from the Pirates of the Caribbean! VoicePlay also did the Halo theme. Different from this one but really good. If you watch all of it you will see the guys when still in high school and will learn something about them from 25 yrs ago. There are a couple of Viking sagas "My Mother Told Me" followed by "Valhalla Calling". Geoff did a solo from Game of Thrones "Rains of Castamere".

It was a fundraiser for the artists sidelined by Covid, and showcases many of the amazing artists they have collaborated with over the years. There is at least one surprise guest...

Great reaction. Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole you will not be dissapointed. Love your reaction to Laynes sound effects he is definitely a world class beatboxer and is known for his weird drum fills and effects you should see what he does in their most recent videos like their covers of Phil Collins's In The Air Tonight and Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes also he sings as well and has a soft high tenor voice. Also if you watch a lot of Voiceplays videos you will sometimes see mentions of Kathy Castellucci she is Geoffs wife and she often handles the costumes for the whole group and had appearedin some of Voiceplays and Geoffs videos, the arrangements for their songs are handled by Geoff and Laine who alternate between releases although Ellie sometimes arranges songs as well. Ellie also often handles the lighting and has done some cgi backgrounds for them and the video editing. Laine often does the steadicam filming for them. Rick Underwood handles the makeup (with help from Kathy Castelucci ) and Ed Boyer does the mixing he also mixes the songs for Home Free as well. They have collaberated with Home Free on the song Survivor (Hillbillys vs. Zombies) and are friends with the group after appearing on the Sing Off tv shows together. They also have done some comedy songs like the above mentioned Survivor, Road Trip ( taken from the Sing Off show ) and The Chicken Song taken fro one of their live stage shows these songs are from much earlier in their career as a group. Also worth watching is Geoffs cover of the 1960's song "The Monster Mash" this also has a guest appearance by Kathy it is a very fun video especially around Halloween time. You should listen to their cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters. It is beautiful. Hoist The Colours is also amazing. You can't really go wrong with any VoicePlay pick. For something really different try their cover of In The Hall of The Mountain King. :)

Excellent reaction. It’s the kind of reaction we VoicePlayers like to see. This is definitely one of the more theatrical pieces. They don’t always go all out for cosplay, but you can almost always sense a theme or a storyline.
If you like gaming you are in luck. HALO is probably one of their more well-known pieces. If you do watch it, please watch all the way through to the end. The outro section really shows a lot about what kind of people they are. They’ve done a lot of video game themes, many of which I’ve never heard of because I don’t game. But if I did I would want to play this, because the music is so beautiful, and Portal because it’s such a funny video that they did for We’re Alive.
They a lot of Disney, musical theater, Pop, light rock and have recently been going in new directions as well. Recently they did a cover of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters, and released a cover of Radiohead’s Creep most recently.
I believe I caught a Scandinavian accent. They did My Mother Told Me a few years back and followed it with Valhalla calling. They also did a very interesting cover of Edvard Grieg’s Hall of the Mountain King.
If you like drama, definitely check out Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3. It remains one of my favorites.
When I was checking your catalog I noticed you did a reaction to Queen so you might want to watch their cover of Queen in 5 Minutes. It’s a very unique medley. Geoff, the bass, is Baron from the voodoo faith who determines whether or not you die. The other three are lords of the underworld waiting for that to happen. That isn’t a spoiler but it will help you appreciate the storytelling.
I’ve subscribed in hopes that you’ll continue down this rabbit hole and was pleased to see that you have already done a reaction to Geoff and am going to check that out next.

Subscribed for your nice looking mouth while it is hanging open, that is a hard look to achieve 😅 and i love VoicePlay from their silly to their theatrical( old and new) I love all of it. Not to mention, anything Home Free does is a win too. Need to introduce you to Voctave , they're also a group you can throw a dart at any thing they sing and its a win, my favorite is Disney Princesses song.

VoicePlay are meticulous in their makeup and costumes, cost permitting. Language too. They have a very good makeup artist and what Geoff refers to as a beard wrangler. Eli does the lighting, and somtimes they have steadicam operaters, when necessary. Poor Cesar was wearing 20lbs of chainmail for this, and has to keep lying down on the floor between takes to ease his shoulders. That's dedication. :) I knew you'd love this one. Hone Free and PTX are both great but for me VP are in a league of their own, with their theatricality and origanality. For a movie related video, try Hoist the Colours, from Pirates of the Caribbean, At Worlds End. Yes Omar is a fairly regular guest with VoicePlay, and his brother EJ Cardona also has appeared with them.

A lot of people have given you good information about Geoff and Voiceplay, but I would like to also point out that another UA-camr/reactor/professional bass opera singer, Peter Barber, just put out an interview with Geoff a few days ago. The first part is Geoff talking about the history and formation of VoicePlay, if you're interested.
They have been a group for about 25 years, if you can believe it. They have a vast catalog, and I always say that if you just scroll through their youtube channel, pick anything, and you will be blown away. They cover pretty much every genre, so they also appeal to a wide audience. I don't think I can say I have a favorite from them. I just love it all. However, I do have a favorite of Geoff's personal covers, and that is his cover of High and Dry by Radiohead. I love everything he does, but something about that one just always hits home with me.
After all of that, you should check out Peter and his work and the group he sings with, The Bass Gang. They're all classified as bass singers, but they all have crazy range and a couple of them beat box as well.

Love your reaction and hope do some more VoicePlay. They done some Disney stuff like Mona Medley, Go The Distance, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Little Mermaid Medley. Other songs like lots Nothing Else Matters, Running Up That Hill, Creep what the last come out with, Halo, Friends On The Other Side, Seven Nation Army, Dream On, Man in The Mirror that just to name a few. Also the Bass Geoff has his own UA-cam too which he done Sound of Silence, Blackbird, Headless Horse and Monster Mash to name a few on his channel. Hope to see some more I also like VoicePlay ACA Top 10 stuff they did too like 80's cartoon's, Sitcoms, Rap, Disney Hero's/Villain's/ Sidekick's. The other ACA Top 10 Movies was with Rob from Home Free and they also had Home Free VS VoicePlay called Zombies Vs Hillbillies.

These guys are my favorite! Word of advice: get good headphones. You miss so much with VoicePlay without them. There is an amazing amount of background harmony you won't catch otherwise. Every one of their songs is incredibly intricate and layered. I still catch new things after 50 listens. If you watch HALO, please watch all the way to the end. There is a moving tribute at the end to a friend of theirs that passed away and used to game with them all the time.

Yes i guess it will, well I will look into it , i mean my first 6 month doing youtube i used a laptop 15 inch broken so much that It had a toothpic for powerbutton unless it died for months. If you would like to hear another artist who dose a lot of fantasy music you should check out Colm MacGuinness. He is an Irish bass voice and composer and plays about 6+ instruments. He has done some tradition Irish as well as written and performed some original fantasy songs. If you have seen the 2nd Campaign of Critical Role. he wrote and performed the music "Welcome To Taldori" an epic instrumental piece for them. He also composed special epic music for Matt Mercer to use in the background for a final boss battle of Campaign 2. He started singing during Covid when the Shanty songs took off. His bass has just gotten better and better since then. One fan described his bass as the movement of the tectonic plates. He has been a guest singer with The Bass Gang (also check out) a time or too as well. He wrote and sang a fantasy song about a sea goddess who rescues lost sailors. It is my favorite.

@@madtv112 Critical Role has a UA-cam Channel. It is a Dungeon and Dragons roleplaying game. If you have Amazon Prime the first season of Campaign 1 has been made into an animated series. Campaign 2 will be being made into one too but they are just beginning to work on it. In the original form the episodes are 4 hours long. They are in podcast form too. I used to night stock at a grocery store and would listen to them while I worked during Covid. Their shows are exciting, funny and sometimes nail biting. Campaign 2 is exceptional. They ended up calling their adventuring group The Mighty Nien, in part because the 20 sided dice kept rolling an unusual amount of 9s and one of the characters, the wizard, was based in a German type culture so Nien instead of Nine. They were the Mighty No. All through this campaign the dice rolled in non statistical ways often featuring nines. Plus one of the characters was reading cards and really reading them not just choosing the cards consciously and they were telling part of the story just like the dice. When it is made into the animation you will not be able to see that magic but is was amazing to watch it unfold. The surprise on the players faces as the weirdness happened.
