Fun fact: Geoff Castellucci, Tim Faust, and Avi Kaplan are all friends. I think if you were to ask any one of them who the best bass is among them, they'd say "the other two." They all have their fans, but in truth, they're all equally brilliant with similar ranges and very, very distinctive voices, even when singing low.
When Peter Barber interviewed Geoff, he was fan-boying over Tim Foust like nobody's business. I'm still not sure Peter managed to convince Geoff that he is a true bass singer, but Peter did seem to make some headway there.
@@Badger77722 Tim is the one that taught Geoff subharmonics. I don't think anyone out there can match Geoff right now though, he has really embraced it over the last couple of years. Tim is great too and definitely fits his country genre more. Avi can't get as low as them, but that buttery voice is awesome too. I love them all in their own right.
Forgot to tell you, Miracle of Sound did this song originally. Listen to their version with video. Sounds REAL VIKING as lead singer really gets into it and his voice has alot of gravel in it which adds to whole experience. Now, Miracle of Sound watched this VP cover and gave it "10 ale horns" of approval they said! Lol. If you play the Miracle of Sound version loudly, your neighbors will think they are being INVADED and then move! Lol! So if you want to run off neighbors you don't like, play the Miracle of Sound version loudly and play VP version for celebration after neighbors have moved away. Drink a cold beer in a stein looking glass, outside in lawn chair and enjoy! 😂😂❤❤
Yay you finally got to Voiceplay! I'll let others do all the introductions to the group. They can be totally goofy (Drunken Sailor, In The Hall of the Mountain King) and can make you cry your eyes out (I Can't Make You Love Me, Creep). They can do everything from Disney to Metallica to Beach Boys to the Chipmunk to video game themes and even more. You can't go wrong with any of their stuff. So settle in, grab a carrot or two, and enjoy!
No, they were not commissioned for this video. They tend to pick songs that people request a lot or are popular at the moment, and some of those might be from video games, tv shows, movies, musicals, etc. It might seem niche, but a LOT of people around the world love music from those sources, and VoicePlay isn't afraid to go outside the mainstream sources of music. They actually very rarely do mainstream songs. They look at what people ask for, and if they find a song they feel they can do something interesting with, one of them will take charge of the project and see it through from start to finish.
Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole (and by association, the Geoff Castellucci rabbit hole as the bass also does solo work). I'm glad you picked a song at random to start with as you can choose anything you like and be shown just how astounding their unique sound is. Looking forward to watching you expand your playlist!
This is one of VoicePlay’s most epic songs! And FYI - they are completely independent. If you check the credits on this one, it is one of the few with a lot of extra names. That is because they filmed at a different production studio than usual. This one had huge LED walls to project the scenes upon. The scenes were all done in Unreal Engine by the ‘rock’ tenor - the guy with the shaved head and full beard. His name is Eli (rhymes with jelly) and he always designs any lighting and/or computerized scenery they need. He has also arranged or helped arrange a few of their songs. This song was arranged by Layne, the beatboxer. Most of their songs are arranged by him or Geoff (the bass). You can often tell a Layne arrangement because he puts in some considerably low notes for Geoff. Whomever does the arrangement is most often responsible for the visual concept and look, the directing, the video and early audio editing. After the initial audio edit they send it and all the audio layers out to Ed Boyer. He is apparently the best for a capella. He also does the audio for Home Free and Pentatonix. They usually shoot at PattyCake Productions. The studio is co-owned by Layne and someone who used to sing with VoicePlay - Tony Wakim. He however left a few years back after deciding he preferred to be behind the camera. And lastly, since you commented on how they sound like a whole choir. The ‘music’ you heard as the Patreons rolled is an example of what they call a karaoke track. It is still just them singing, but you can get an idea of just how much layering might be done, depending on the song.
This is just typical Voiceplay. They do it ALL themselves for arrangement, costumes, background and all. Fabulous group that just gets better and better
These guys are the Theatre Kids of Acapella! Geoff's bass will shake you to it's core. Sooo good. Some of my favorites from them: My Mother Told Me (the precursor to this one), Drunken Sailor, Hoist The Colors, Oogie Boogie Song, Creep, Little Mermaid Medley, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Moana Medley. They also recently released a cover of 'Hellfire' from Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Geoff put out ' Jack's Lament' from Nightmare Before Christmas
If you plan to watch other VoicePlay songs in the future, here is an important tip: make sure to watch all their videos until their patreon lists appear. They sometimes put in bonus scenes at the end of their videos.
@@larryshair Also, I don't know if you noticed this about the outro, but it's something they've begun doing comparatively recently and I love them for it: the outro is a bit of the same song, but _without_ the lead vocal. Makes it easier to hear and appreciate all the stuff that's going on in the background.
You picked a great one to start listening to Voiceplay! Only because it is October, I recommend you check out their Halloween offerings--Voiceplay just dropped HellFire, and Geoff Castellucci (the bass) just did Jack's Lament on his solo channel. VP has done several Nightmare Before Christmas songs (Oogie Boogie's Song, This is Halloween, What's This?, and Kidnap the Sandy Claws), as well as other great stuff like In the Hall of the Mountain King, Hide and Seek (Ding Dong), Grim Grinning Ghosts. There is a vast catalog of amazing stuff, and you are going enjoy this rabbit hole!
They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! Geoff hits 3 B0's! Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us that rap indeed belongs in acapella! And Miracle of Sound gave this 10 out of 10 raised ale horns!! Great reaction! This from the Assasins Creed Valhalla video game, but that rap is all J None!!
I’m so glad you seem to enjoy VoicePlay as much as I do 😅 The other groups seem to get more attention and VP gets slept on some. They are on another level, especially with their intricate arrangements and theatrics not to mention their amazing voices! I was already subscribed and I’ll be here every time you react to VP or Geoff’s (the bass) solo work. You can’t go wrong with any of their covers! Just pick one and enjoy! But I have a feeling you would really enjoy In the Air Tonight, Nothing Else Matters, Seven Nation Army, Dream On and Hoist the Colours to start! ❤
With VoicePlay you can use full video since VoicePlay wants you to bring in more people. They will not block you, no contracts, no recording companies, just them. So much of VoicePlay is theatrical and that needs to be seen and not just listened to which is why they will not block you. I see you're getting close to 100K. Congrats. J None used to be VoicePlay's baritone (hear him in VP's Tennessee Whiskey) and was recruited by the US Navy for his vocal talents. He's coming up on 3 yrs done of 5. He just promoted and moved from Seattle to Washington DC. It's an easier trip to Orlando where VP is located and we are seeing more of him. Geoff Castellucci has his own channel and does solos there (not acapella) and just dropped a video yesterday Jack's Lament from Nightmare Before Christmas. Another is from The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug. He usually has his clones back him up (all named after misspellings of his name except for the last one if used is known as Darryl). He is one of the original members as is Layne Stein the beatboxer from when they were in high school. The bald tenor also known as rock god is Eli (rhymes with jelly), Cesar de la Rosa is the baritone/tenor inside here. J None is the guy out on the ledge watching the ships come in and did the rap. Miracle of Sound is the composer/group. When they heard VoicePlay's they gave it 10 out of 10 raised alehorns, saying nobody's done a more creative cover of their song. Another you might like is Dragonborn Comes Skyrim. Someone told them that an acapella group couldn't do metal - try Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, or maybe In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), or Dream On (Aerosmith). They just dropped Hellfire on Friday which gobsmacked me. Invite your neighbors in!
Miracle of sound is the original artist you can find him on UA-cam. J is an old member who left a couple of years ago to sing for the Navy he comes when he’s on leave. He’s the one that comes into Valhalla
I was just thinking "he's giddy as a school boy"! VoicePlay does everything themselves. They don't have a label so they choose whatever kind of music they want to sing. Then either the beat boxer (Layne) or the bass (Geoff) arrange the music and then produce the video. A couple of times the tenor (Eli pronounced L.E.) has arranged a song for them. They usually only have makeup and complicated camera work done by outside professionals. In my opinion these guys are the best and I think it's because they are so immersed in each project. They truly are The Theatre Kids of Acapella!😊
Thanks for your reaction! As the other "Voice Players" ( fans of Voice Play are called as fans of Home Free are called "Home Fries") have told you in the comments Voice Play are the theater kids of acapella music where as Pentatonix is more of a trendy Pop style and Home Free has more of a Country/Folk style. Voice Play is a group from Orlando Florida and all the members and their frequently featured guests have worked as performers for Universal and/or Disney theme parks. They work without a record label or contract by choice so that they have complete control of their creative expression and do all of their own production, makeup, costumes, arrangements, lighting and technical effects ( Beatboxer, Layne Stein and former baritone singer, Tony Wakim, own the production studio (PattyCake Productions) where most of their work is done. They are very close friends with the members of Home Free as they competed against each other on the "Sing Off" season 4 in 2013 and toured together on the "Sing Off" tour after the season ended. They are very supportive of each other despite their different style and approaches to acapella music ( Geoff Castellucci, bass singer of Voice Play helped Tim with the arrangement of Home Free's "Elvira" with the Oak Ridge Boys and Layne Stein, beatboxer of Voice Play, did the arrangement for Home Free's "Butt Remix"). Voice Play and solo Geoff Castellucci are the masters of anything Halloween themed and have the best Halloween music on the internet (as Pentatonix has the best Christmas music). Since you are a Home Fry, I would highly recommend that you react to Voice Play and Home Free together in their cover of "Survivor- Zombies Vs Hillbillies" (hysterical!). You may want to react with your son to some of Voice Play's spooky performances this Halloween season and other covers of interest thereafter ( Gaming, Rock, Disney, TV and Movies and pop culture things requested by their patrons). With Voice Play, you won't need to use a screen on their videos or worry about blocks and copyright strikes as they are independent and do not have a difficult contract or record label like Pentatonix has with SME- Voice Play puts so much into their visuals that they make easy to react to and share to grow their fan base and patron community. Reacting to Voice Play and solo Geoff Castellucci during the holiday season starting with Halloween will definitely get you 100,000 subscribers!
I subscribed to your channel over a year ago, hoping for Voiceplay to appear. They are completely independent and do everything themselves. Arranging, production, editing, first mix, as well as costume, makeup and camera planning. They are wonderfully talented and genuinely nice guys. They lost their high tenor in early 2020 for personal reasons, he has not been replaced. J None was with them from 2018 to 2021 when the US Navy recruited him to sing with them. He is halfway through a 5 year hitch and has been back 5 times while on leave to be featured artist. Still one man short, they use a variety of featured artists, mostly from the Orland area that they've worked with for years. I'll suggest their most recent three to show the variety they can do. They did Radiohead's Creep which had us all weeping. Then to get rid of the tears they did Drunken Sailor. Still tears but from laughing. And they just released Hellfire from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. Loved your enthusiastic reaction!!
@@larryshair Actually, you had heard them once before, and were underwhelmed. You put their version of O Little Town of Bethlehem into your Christmas list a year or two ago. You felt that it started slow (traditional) and didn't feel any enthusiasm until about a third of the way through. It was not as exciting as Valhalla and they don't do Christmas as a signature the way PTX and HF do. Love watching second chances!!
@@larryshairThank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. Would you please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim. Your son will love it. Also Voice Plays cover of Halo, the theme song from the Halo video game. There aren't any words to the song. The composer of the music said their cover of Halo was better than his.
So exciting to see someone react to VP for the first time! Your reaction was well worth the watch and I'm immediately subbing. You now have the trifecta of Acapella groups. PTX and HF are great, but I am biased toward VP. VP is well-known as the 'theater kids' of acapella because they really get into it (oftentimes with sets and costumes like this one) and it's as much a feast for the eyes as it is a treat for the ears! Even when they tone down and keep it simple, it's just 'chef's kiss' perfect. I will say, they embrace their nerdiness, too. Your son may really enjoy some of their gaming songs (like Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim or Halo theme). They've been around for a while and have been through a few members, so don't be surprised if you see some of the older stuff and there are other members (like J None, when he was a full-time member instead of featured). If you enjoyed this one so much, I'd recommend My Mother Told Me next, or Hoist the Colours (from Pirates of the Caribbean 3). They are along the same vein. But VoicePlay has a bit of everything for everybody. No niche can hold them! You are correct. J None was the one who rapped. He was a full-time member then went into the military and comes back when he's on leave. Geoff (pronounced Jeff), is the bass (and I believe Tim Faust from HF can sing a bit lower, but Geoff has a different timbre and he is the king of sub-harmonics). Layne is the incredible beatboxer, also known as VioLayne--you'll learn why on your journey. He also has such a sweet and pure voice. Usually it's one of them who arranges the songs, etc. The bald guy with the raspy rock voice is Eli (pronounced Ellie), and they call him rock god. Then you have sweet and sassy Cesar. If his sass or silliness doesn't get you, his silky sweet voice will! Kathy (Geoff's wife) is usually their production manager and has been in a video here or there (most recent one is Golden Hour). They tend to shoot a lot of their videos in Pattycake Productions or the mall where it is (Layne and Tony--a former member--own that and make videos with fairytale/Disney-esque themes). Geoff also has his own channel and drops new songs all the time, too, with many versions of himself, usually. And one word of advice. They sometimes add extras at the end after the screen goes dark at the end of the song. So definitely never stop watching until the end! Besides, you get to enjoy the outro music. :) Enjoy the journey!
@@larryshair In the earlier days they played a recap of what they sang with the credits. But over the last few years they’ve started featuring the karaoke track as the credits roll. Sometimes those pieces are worthy of a listen all on their own. As a patron I get to listen to them which really helps because I don’t know a lot about music. It helps me hear all the stuff that I wasn’t listening to cause I was so gob smacked by what the lead singer was doing!
So thrilled to find another person who is discovering VoicePlay! In all fairness, this is one of their more epic pieces. They aren’t all quite this involved and crazy. However the skill is always there. This is a cover of a piece that the musical group Miracle of Sound did in association with one of the Assassin’s Creed games. VoicePlay previously did a cover of My Mother Told Me which was also featured in Assassin’s Creed video game. It was epic but it’s several years old and they have definitely stepped up their game. But they used most of the same costumes and all the same facial tattoos from that cover. Since you mentioned your son likes dragons, you really should see Dragonborn/Skyrim with him. They’ve dressed up in that one as well and it’s quite beautiful. I don’t game but the music is amazing. You mentioned the beatboxing, and the difference about Layne I think is that he also incorporates a lot of organic sounds. He does not limit himself to a drum kit. He likes to come up with new sounds to throw into the mix. For instance, he is the one who made the sounds of the doors opening. They recently released their cover of Hellfire, the song from Hunchback of Notre Dame with the same crew. J who was returning from across the water here is in the Navy currently. (The rap refers to his service with phrases like head of his ops.) But he comes back whenever he can to appear with them. When he’s not available, or the piece they choose needs a different sound, they use guest artists many of whom return.
Welcome to the rabbit hole of Voiceplay! 😁 If no one told you they are: Geoff- Pronounced Jeff. Bass beyond bass. May be part dragon. Has his own epic channel. Layne - Beatboxer. AKA Carrot Lord. Arranges many of their songs. Eli - Rhymes with jelly. Smooth-scalped tenor rock god. Cesar - In maximum beard moment. Tenor to Baritone. Newest member. Extreme sweetheart. J. None - Rapper and can sing almost any part. Former member. Left to sing in Armed Forces and guest stars when on leave.
I discovered Voiceplay around the same time I became aware of Home Free… though they are both a cappella groups, their vibes are so very different. I love them both so much! Each group is comprised of unbelievably talented people, and they are all acquainted…they trade arrangements, appear in each other’s videos, and respect each other immensely. Thanks for adding another of my favorite groups to the channel
I’m really familiar with both groups. I know VoicePlay has helped Home Free with some arrangements but I don’t know of any the other way around. If you know of one specifically I would love to know. Layne, Geoff and Eli are all geniuses when it comes to arranging so they don’t typically use others.
I know Geoff has been credited with the arrangement of ‘Elvira’ , Home Free did with The Oak Ridge Boys. I don’t know of any specific arrangements the other way around, but I will try to delve deeper. I have heard that Tim has helped Geoff reach the super low notes, both are so talented!
@@rebeccamccann8710 That is a bit of a rumor. Geoff has always been able to go low and he leans towards singing in chest and subharmonics. Tim showed him the growl technique that he uses most. I knew about Elvira and Layne helped arrange the Butts Medley but I would be super curious if VP has used any of HF arrangements. 🤔
@@thisismetoday7423 Thanks for the correction…If you find anything else about their arrangements, I would love to know more also. Both groups are so incredibly talented. I never knew that a cappella music could be so diverse and satisfying. I’m an old woman, and before discovering these guys I always equated a cappella with church choirs and barbershop quartets I guess. I am thorough enjoying this journey.
Yes, Home Free and Pentatonix are fabulous. But so glad you got to VoicePlay! And looking forward to more from you with them. "Creep," "Dream on," "7 Nation Army, "Hoist the Colours," "21 Pilots Mashup" and "Halo Theme" are just a few that I'm sure you will really enjoy.
@@larryshair Another group to check out would be The Bass Gang. It is made up of four bass singers who have been working together for a few years and three of them finally got to meet in person this summer. Two are from different areas of the US, one is in the Czech Republic and Marwan, who could not get a visa, is from Egypt. They’ve only been doing it since Covid which is I believe how they started this. They also feature collaborations and have worked with Tim Foust, Jonathan Young, and Colm McGuinness among others. If you watch Hooked on a Feeling with Tim, pay attention to when everyone is drinking wine in the background (they are all green screened). Marwan is using a juice box because he is only… 19 years old! They are currently releasing their newest album which is four pieces from the Disney group. My favorite is Marwan’s Aladdin.
I would LOVE to see a reaction video on the original of this song!! It’s awesome man I’m not 100% sure if it was created for it but this song is in the game Assasins Creed: Valhalla. Absolutely badass song
I adore Home Free. They vaulted me down into this Acapella pit and I don’t see myself ever wanting to climb out. Our 3 main stars, PTX, Home Free and Voice Play each rule their own kingdom. Talent and hard work at its finest. I love everything they do. Voice Play delivers some of my very favorites. You will find treats all the way through their extensive catalog. I love True Colors, Carry On My Wayward Son, Wicked Medley, Dream On, Creep, and on, and on they go. My guess is, you will want to remain part of this incredible community forever. Enjoy the fall.
Just so you are aware, this was not a commissioned piece. In fact it is a cover of the original by Miracle of Sound (In the title). The original was created with inspiration from Assassin's Creed Valhalla. So good instincts!
Oogie Boogie song, Little Mermaid Melody, and Hellfire really show what incredible range Geoff has. They have done other songs from video games like Dragonborn Comes, My Mother Told Me, My Enemy, Theme from Halo. They also do a lot of shorts that are fun too.
I have too many subscriptions as it is, however, this reaction earned you a new subscriber. Voiceplay is on another level, utterly mind boggling! Talent beyond belief! Your reaction was superb! Can't wait to see more, including more of Voiceplay. Don't forget to check out their bass singer, Geoff Castellucci's channel.
I have two recommendations. Next for Voice Play, try Hide and Seek (Ding Dong). It's a Halloween song they dropped last year. It features Lauren Paley and it's grand! Then I have a recommendation for another a capella group. This one is Voctave. Voctave is totally unique and different from Pentatonix, Home Free, or Voice Play. They have 11 members and use those members to create harmonies that are out of this world. I recommend their latest--Somewhere (from West Side Story). It gives each member a small solo and you can get a good sampling of the vocal talent in the group. I think you'll like Voctave. Like I said, totally different from the other a capella groups around, but amazingly talented (so the same as the other groups) and harmonies that will leave you speechless.
You just went for it…😂 Talk about diving into the deep end. 👏🏻 Glad to have another VoicePlayer on board. Since it IS spooky season, do please check out their spooky catalog. They are the kings of Halloween. Loved the reaction and thoroughly enjoying the channel. PS…now that you’ve added Voiceplay into the mix, 100k is just around the corner.
Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole! I could give you a very long list of recs, but really, throw a dart at their catalog or pull songs out of a hat and you won't be disappointed. I'm particularly a fan of their current lineup of the past 2-3 years since Cesar joined, and 2023 has been a banner year for them, but they've never produced a bad song or sung with anyone who was less than exceptional. The same can be said of their bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, in his solo channel--the cover of Jack's Lament he dropped just yesterday is a masterpiece not to be missed. Liked, subscribed and looking forward to more!
They create a karaoke track for their patrons. Recently, that's what they've played during the outro. I love that because you can hear so much more of the harmony.
YESS! SO glad you finally met Voiceplay! They've been the underdogs of the the acapella trifecta of awesomeness for way too long - at least in part because they remain doggedly independent of any record companies, which allows them to choose what they want to do and take more risks with their material, but also means they don't get the same level of commercial exposure. You have SO much amazingness to look forward to! J.None is indeed the rapper. He's been a long-time member of Voiceplay, but he's on a five-year contract with the Navy at the moment, so Voiceplay have been having 'guest artists' in order to hold his place open in the group until his service term finishes (he sometimes shows up during his leave to take the guest spot, like in this one.) In the last few years, they've REALLY upped their game as a group and are fast overtaking the favourite spot in the acapella trifecta of them, PTX and Home Free for many people (I'll admit that includes me. 🙂) Other absolute bangers I can recommend: For rock/pop covers: 'Seven Nation Army' featuring Anthony Gargiulia, 'Nothing Else Matters' and 'In The Air Tonight,' both featuring J.None, 'Dream On' featuring Omar Cardona, 'Creep' featuring Anthony Gargiulia. For game/tv themes: 'The Dragonborne Comes' from Skyrim featuring Omar Cardona again, the 'Halo' theme tune featuring Scott Porter (be advised to watch that video right to the end,) 'Running Up That Hill' featuring Ashley Diane. For Disney/show tunes: 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' from 'Encanto' featuring Ashley Diane, 'Hoist The Colors' from 'Pirates of the Caribbean' featuring Hose Rosario Jr, 'Hellfire' from The Hunchback of Notre Dame featuring J.None.
Так радостно наблюдать за восторгом человека впервые открывшего для себя шедевр. В такой момент вспоминаешь и сопереживаешь и свой восторг тоже. Спасибо за реакцию 👍👍👍❤️
I trust that all the 200+ comments gave you the VP basics. All I have to say is this: do more Voiceplay! they are fierce, they are goofy, they are hilarious, they are professional but they don't take themselves too seriously. and they are really cool guys with a VERY strong fanbase who can soon become your fanbase too ;)
Buckle up, these guys don't have a box to go outside of, they make their own rules. There's almost 12 years of content on their channel in pretty much any genre . Pick anything, theatrical, straight a Capella, some live performances especially most of the ACA Top 10's they used in their shows then sat down and recorded, some of the goofiest and most genuine people you'd ever want to meet...and what everyone else said. Your reaction was wonderful and you even went through the Patreon roll, good job there sometimes there's little surprises remixes, karaoke, bts and messages. This is the perfect time of year to discover "The Kings of Halloween"
Subscribed!!! Loved your reaction. Priceless!! And, you're not alone...being "mind blown" is....typical. Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole. Glad to have you. Enjoy the journey!!
@@larryshair So I watched your reaction a 2nd time just now, and again loved how you were just blown away...rightfully. As others have pointed out, it's October, so VP just dropped Hellfire and Geoff just dropped Jack's Lament. I am recommending you go back and watch VP's version of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, Creep, Hoist the Colours, Warriors, Dragonborn Comes, Aerosmith's Dream On, Seven Nation Army, 21 Pilot's Mashup, Hall of the Mountain King, Enemy, If I Were a Rich Man / Girl, Oogie Boogie. So many more great options, but that's my recommended journey through the rabbit hole! Enjoy.
Hot diggety dog, this made my night! VoicePlay is my jam and they revel in the unusual and brilliant. I loved your reaction! I recommend their recent covers of Seven Nation Army, Creep, and Nothing Else Matters.
Choosing this for your intro to Voiceplay is equivalent to doing a HALO jump blindfolded on your first time in an aircraft 😂. And fun fact: the Vikings had a tradition before battle called "flyting" where they would exchange insults with their opponents in poetically stylized verse. So basically a medieval rap battle lol
Congratulations! You just got "Geoffed" with that 20 second B0. Yeah, he's the best. You've got to see his solo of Jack's Lament that just came out. Just pick anything from VoicePlay or Geoff Castellucci and you wil NOT be disappointed. Dragonborn, Warriors, and their new release Hellfire. They're so talented. They do EVERYTHING themselves but the final mix and some make up. Every one of them has an amazing range. If you become a patron you'll have access to karaoke tracks and you'll be amazed at how much more you can hear. Geoff and Layne do most of the arranging and it's intricate.
Welcome to voiceplay! Cant wait for you to fall down this rabbit hole as well, voiceplay AND the bass of this group, geoff castellucci, also has his own solo channel 😁😉💜
Welcome to Voiceplay... for me, the best and most versatile of the 3 top groups. I'm subscribing in anticipation of more Voiceplay and subsequently Geoff Castellucci, who has his own solo channel. 😊 🇬🇧
The original song was commissioned, yes, but that was Miracle of Sound, used in one of the Assassin's Creed games. VoicePlay did this acapella cover and NAILED IT! Even the video (they did themselves) is EPIC!
Chris, I appreciate the nice summary of what Valhalla is in Norse mythology. That is what gives this song its entire gravitas, and I have seen some reviewers who have no clue. You are in for a treat with the "theater kids of acapella" They are THE voice of Halloween, so you are hopping the bandwagon at the perfect time. J-none has the big eyes and hte sectet suprise moment. No commission, just a kick donkey cover. Miracle of Sound did give it ten alehorns thiough. Skol, Chris
They had me ready to march off to war with this one!! You picked a great time to start watching VoicePlay too because they love Halloween and have some awesome stuff. They just dropped "Hellfire" from The Disney movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Geoff (the bass) has his own channel and he just dropped "Jack's Lament" from the Nightmare Before Christmas and both are just fantastic. Geoff and VoicePlay both have tons of Halloween stuff that is just super fun and well done and certainly worth a watch. I really enjoyed your reaction to these crazy talented guys! ❤
Seeing you getting excited about Voiceplay, made me "click the button" without the need of asking 😆 - I think, we will have a very good time with VP and Geoff's solo videos. Welcome to the extraordinary universe of Voiceplay covers!🤩Have much fun and enjoy their talent!
Geoff (pronounced Jeff) is the bassist and he does solo work too on his own channel (Geoff Castellucci) and not only can he sing bass but he has a 5 octave range, at the beginning of the song that low note was a B0 held for 14 ish secs
We love first-time listener's to voiceplay. Your smile says it all. Geoff Castellucci the bass has his own channel😉😉. Welcome to the rabbit hole, enjoy the ride.
Hello, I felt the same way the first 20 times, what, how, I'm in VALLHALLA. Those were the first thoughts. Thanks for the good quality of the song 👍And for your amazement and surprise, I saw myself in you.
I don't give out my subs liberally. I loved your reaction and I hit the sub button on your reaction. I love Voiceplay, and totally enjoyed your reaction. I won't give you any suggestions because you really can't go wrong. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful to see a new Voiceplayer born! I think any of their covers will blow you away and especially their Halloween portfolio. One other suggestion, please react to their Nothing Else Matters. It's a masterpiece!
Welcome to VoicePlay's world, we're just the audience in it! They're hands-down the theater kids of acapella, and they do such an amazing job with it. You can tell they're having a world of fun with each video they do, and that's one of the things that I love the most about them. So, yeah, as you've probably heard by now, this isn't one of their songs, but rather a cover of a song from Miracle of Sound, who made this as a song inspired by Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. The first really big cover of this song was actually done with Peyton Parish, who would be well worth you listening to, as well. Imagine... a barbarian multiclassing into being a bard. That's Peyton in a nutshell. But yeah, PTX is very... serious about their music these days, which I don't enjoy as much, and Home Free... I'm not a Country music guy, outside of rare occasions. It's why I love VoicePlay so much, and hold them as my favorite acapella group these days.
They've just dropped Hellfire, from Disneys' Hunchback of Notre Dame and it's sensational. Don't worry about your son. I still love fantasy stuff and I'm 79 now! No they weren't commissioned, the otiginal was in a game or series I believe, but VoicePlay just wanted to cover it. And Miracle of Sound saw it and gave them 10 out of 10 for originality. Every video they do needs repeated viewings to pick up all the details. The arrangements are so incredible. If you get to see any of Geoff's solo low bass covers he also sounds like a choir on his own, by layering his voice to sing all the parts of his arrangements. It's amazing. :) Great reaction. I should add that VP cover many many genres, from rock to Disney to humour, and they do it all brilliantly, and often with a theatrical flavour.
The fact that all of these guys could have successful solo careers proves their talents! Definitely recommend falling down a rabbit hole of their back catalog including Geoff Castellucci's (Bass) solo stuff. Definte second song recommendation is their "Nothing Else Matters" Metallica Cover.
Welcome, child, to the candy store. Where everythying you see is the most amazing thing you've ever had in your life. Since you're going to be reacting to VoicePlay and, I'm guessing Geoff too, please do your local Geological Survey folks a solid and let them know. This way they are not surprised by the Geoffquakes. They tend to get a bit upset when people just spring those on them. Although, I'm fairly certain they're used to it by now if you've been reacting to Home Free. ( both Tim and Geoff have aprox a 5 octave range, with Geoff slightly edging Tim in the upper range and Tim slightly edging Geoff in the lower, though the margins are so thin as to not exist. ) All in all, fun video. I'll be on the lookout for more.
Larry, it's about time you got to Voice Play! There is no need to filter their videos, you will have no copyright concerns, they own all their music. As someone tried to describe the 3 groups earlier, Voice Play are the theater kids of the bunch, Pentatonix are the student council group and Home Free is throwing a kegger in the parking lot! 3 of the members, Laine Stein(beatboxer), Ely(ryhmes with jelly, tenor) and Geoff Castelucci were friends in school, and all performed at Disneyworld in Florida. That is where the theatrics come from. Voice Play competed against Home Free in the 4th season of the TV show "The Sing Off" in 2012 or 2013. They became friends and Tim helped Geoff with his low notes and Geoff did the arrangement for Home Free and The Oakridge Boys collaboration of Elvira. Hope you Have as much fun with their music as all the Voice Players do!
JNone used to be a member of Voiceplay but he left to travel with the Navy or something like that. I wish I could remember clearly. He's done a few collaborations with Voiceplay in the past few months. Would love for him to come back full time.
I don't think you were quite ready.... Lol. This is the "sequel" to My Mother Told Me. Miracle of Sound is the name the song creator operates under. He was impressed by Voiceplay's version. He gave them ten raised alehorns out of ten for their effort.
starting with "Valhalla Calling" is like going in the ring with Mike Tyson after your first day at the gym 💀
This was my first VoicePlay song and I can confirm this sentiment.
Truth!
Its true. Tim Foust has repeatedly said he thinks Geoff is one of the best basses in the business.
Loving the 🥕 reference 😅
Carrot first of all!
Yes this song was originally done by Gavin Dunn (Miracle of Sound).
In fact, the fact it's not mainstream is what makes it more attractive.
Geoff does a lot of the work.
@@michellesmith6558 if he's in charge of the song that month, then yes. If not, then it's Layne or Eli doing most of the work.
It is still just them singing, but you can get an idea of just how much layering might be done, depending on the song.
heck of a song to be introduced to Geoff Castellucci!
Now you need to do their new release of Hellfire and Geoff’s Jacks Lament
Nice! Good to know, thanks!
Oh yeah! Especially on Drunkin Sailor. LOL
Don't for get Friends on the Other Side
@@Denalicat Yes, and I forgot to mention Geoff's Monster Mash, Headless Horseman, and Ghost Riders in the Sky!
Is also add Hellfire, now that it's out!
Has it really been that long?!? I guess it has...
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for hanging in there!
Enjoy the journey!
Thanks so much!
I can't believe this is your first time hearing VoicePlay! They are incredibly talented, creative and versatile.
Welcome to the rabbit hole of Voiceplay! 😁
If no one told you they are:
Geoff- Pronounced Jeff. Bass beyond bass. May be part dragon. Has his own epic channel.
Layne - Beatboxer. AKA Carrot Lord. Arranges many of their songs.
Eli - Rhymes with jelly. Smooth-scalped tenor rock god.
Cesar - In maximum beard moment. Tenor to Baritone. Newest member. Extreme sweetheart.
J. None - Rapper and can sing almost any part. Former member. Left to sing in Armed Forces and guest stars when on leave.
Thanks for this!
Geoff and Tim of Home Free are friends.
See Voiceplay's Just Sing where Tim makes a fun appearance.
Thanks for the suggestions!
It’s awesome man
I’m not 100% sure if it was created for it but this song is in the game Assasins Creed: Valhalla.
No, it's a cover of another artist's song. The artist is called Miracle of Sound, and he put a very complimentary comment on VP's video
Thanks so much!
Love your reaction! These guys are really good as a group, but Geoff - oh my goodness! How is it even possible for him to hit those low notes?
These guys are the "theater kids" of a Capella. Awesome sounds and dressed for the song or ambiance they are delivering.
Other absolute bangers I can recommend:
For rock/pop covers: 'Seven Nation Army' featuring Anthony Gargiulia, 'Nothing Else Matters' and 'In The Air Tonight,' both featuring J.None, 'Dream On' featuring Omar Cardona, 'Creep' featuring Anthony Gargiulia.
I'll be brief. There is nothing vp can't do. They are masters
Facts.
Yes Voiceplay! I hope you find the time to get to Creep - Radiohead cover by Voiceplay ft. Anthony Garguila! Love your reactions!
Thanks so much! Yes, I'll add this to my list, thanks!
Voiceplay are experts at blowing you away. So glad you're finally getting to them. You're in for quite a ride!
Welcome to Voiceplay❤
So glad you FINALLY got there! Welcome to fascination land. Got a lot to check out! Thx.
Welcome to Voiceplay. They are always so good.
You have a LOT of listening homework to do..and your neighbors will NOT hate you...they will love you for introducing them to Voiceplay!
Так радостно наблюдать за восторгом человека впервые открывшего для себя шедевр. В такой момент вспоминаешь и сопереживаешь и свой восторг тоже. Спасибо за реакцию 👍👍👍❤️
Thank you for you kind words!
I trust that all the 200+ comments gave you the VP basics. All I have to say is this: do more Voiceplay! they are fierce, they are goofy, they are hilarious, they are professional but they don't take themselves too seriously. and they are really cool guys with a VERY strong fanbase who can soon become your fanbase too ;)
Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole. It is deep and awesome.
Voiceplay is definitely one of my favorite groups. I can't think of a bad song they have done I love all their videos and songs
Welcome to the voiceplay rabbit hole. Listen to them all! You can’t go wrong. Can’t wait to see so many more of these
Oh, you are in for quite the ride - enjoy the VoicePlay journey!
Hi Cutie
Wow this was good.
And I live in Sweden, one of the country of vikings😊
Stay safe my friend 💛
Louise!! Hope you're having a nice day my friend 🤗
Oh no, you're going to the hospital? I hope all is ok! Keep us updated my friend.
Subscribed!!! Loved your reaction. Priceless!! And, you're not alone...being "mind blown" is....typical. Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole. Glad to have you. Enjoy the journey!!
Thanks so much!
First time hearing them too. That bass is bone chilling. Great to discover them here through this channel.
Thanks! Yes, that bass voice rocked my soul. I have never heard a person go that low before.
Wait till you hear his range 🤭🤭🤭🤭
Thank you for reacting to VoicePlay! I subscribed in the hopes of more reactions to VoicePlay and also to Geoff Castellucci’s (the bass) solo work.
Thanks so much!
Nice!
Thanks! Yes, more VP to come in rotation :)
Just subbed loved seeing your reaction to voiceplay. Looking forward to seeing more. Voiceplay are known as the theater kids of acapella.
Thanks so much!
The original song was commissioned, yes, but that was Miracle of Sound, used in one of the Assassin's Creed games. VoicePlay did this acapella cover and NAILED IT! Even the video (they did themselves) is EPIC!
Not a bad one to start with :D
Geoff's base is unbelievable, and in this one J None, a returning ex-member, is awesome :D
"Hellfire" and "My Mother Told Me" are excellent.
Thanks so much! What a great experience!
P.s. Halloween is the time these guys shine, new releases from vp and geoff this week. 🤯🤯🤯
Hello, I felt the same way the first 20 times, what, how, I'm in VALLHALLA. Those were the first thoughts. Thanks for the good quality of the song 👍And for your amazement and surprise, I saw myself in you.
Thanks so much!
@@larryshair No prob, thanks for the memories
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS THE BEST OF THE BEST AND THEN ANYTHING ELSE FROM YHEM,CAUSE EVERYTHING BY THEM IS PERFECTION. A FUN FROM GREECE.
him mentioning his sons love of how to train your dragon,
Me: should we tell him they did dragonborn comes?
I don't give out my subs liberally. I loved your reaction and I hit the sub button on your reaction. I love Voiceplay, and totally enjoyed your reaction. I won't give you any suggestions because you really can't go wrong. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much!
More voiceplay planned so I have subscribed
Thanks so much! Yes, for sure more VP in the rotation!
And it begins! Finally
Great reaction... Always fun to watch a reaction from someone who's never seen/heard VoicePlay or Geoff Castellucci. Welcome to their team of fans!
Yeah a first time ever reaction :D Great job! I also highly recommend their covers of Nothing else matters and Seven Nation Army ;)
...Dream on, Dragonborn, My mother told me...and so on and on and on...
Nice! Love these guys!
This dude is so wholesome. Love it
Oh Boy!! have you just fallen into one of the best acapella rabbit holes around at the moment, looking forward to more please!!
What a great reaction to a great song. Thank you very much.
Subscribed for more VoicePlay. Always fun to see someone's first experience with them. 😁
Welcome to voiceplay you've just begun! Also Geoff does solo videos the bass!
I recommend their cover of Nothing Else Matters, In the Air Tonight, any of the disney medleys
Wonderful to see a new Voiceplayer born! I think any of their covers will blow you away and especially their Halloween portfolio. One other suggestion, please react to their Nothing Else Matters. It's a masterpiece!
Subscribed after that reaction! Hope to see more from your exploration of this rabbit hole! It's a deep hole to explore!
Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole.
You can't miss with Voiceplay!
The creaky door was Layne's vocal percussion.
Im so happy at your excitement.... can't wait to see you react to more 😊
Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbit hole! Subscribing for more VoicePlay!!
Thanks!
Oh, wow, this sounds amazing. Adding this to my playlist too.
( both Tim and Geoff have aprox a 5 octave range, with Geoff slightly edging Tim in the upper range and Tim slightly edging Geoff in the lower, though the margins are so thin as to not exist. )
All in all, fun video.
