Vivziepop seems to have a consistent problem with making too many characters. She has so many ideas for characters, but doesn't know how to limit the amount of characters of a story for its benefit and ends up causing characters to be underdeveloped or downright ignored. And isn't it odd that this underdevelopment always seems to happen with the female characters? Its pretty clear that so far the male characters have had the most focus on the story than the female characters, both in Hazbin and Helluva.
I personally don’t think the problem comes with how many characters there are, just how many she has introduced at the same time. I agree with the vid in which they said that the first season should have had the Vees as the main antags and let them focus on the main characters as well, then bring in Heaven and characters like Helsa and Seviathan (For those who don’t know, Seviathan is Charlie’s ex and Helsa is Seviathan’s sister/Charlie’s nemesis) as the main antags of S2. Introducing too many characters at once really killed the overall pacing, and honestly the show feels like a Season 2 despite being a Season 1. The only episode where I didn’t see many issues with was Episode 4, because it was such a character driven episode and genuinely let us get to know Angel better and understand what he was going through. Overall, while I do enjoy the show, it’s like a 5.5-6/10 for me rn quality wise. It’s got heart, and there’s a ton of talent and great characters in the background (Personally a huge fan of Velvette, Husk, and Emily), but the pacing issues and underutilization of certain characters really hurts the show in my opinion.
well, she did write a few characters out of the main cast and replaced one too. but yeah, the plot is VERY rushed bc it's only 8 eps, which is understandable bc a fully animated, voice acted episode, with two musical numbers PER episode, the budget would be hefty asf (more than 50k?)

The only reason why the show feels so fast pace is because they got screwed over by prime to make only eight episodes seasons instead of the 12 episodes like helluva boss
This is a series where I do enjoy every episode that has come out so far, but I am not going to ignore the flaws it has. Despite its obvious fast pacing issue, the episodes have been very enjoyable, the animation was absolutely gorgeous to look at, most of the songs have been bops, the voice acting is fantastic, and I just enjoy the characters whenever they are on screen. It is obvious that Season 1 feels very rushed and it really could've had more episodes to tell its story or just let some of the plot points here be saved for Season 2. I can understand that this was done if the series wouldn't succeed like the series was originally supposed to be released in the Summer of last year before the reveal that there will be a second season. So, its not really the creator's fault for this decision. The episodes are enjoyable don't get me wrong, it's hard to not ignore the fast pacing of the 8 episodes we got.
The problem I have with the show is that Vivienne has already laid out all of the characters’ backstories, relationships, and pasts including when they were alive and so has been sitting on these characters for years but forgets we all don’t live in her head and they actually have to be introduced and expanded upon…in the story
I agree with the pacing, its prety rushed, mainly on the last two episodes, where even more characters are introduced. I feel if they would slow it down a bit it would be so much better. Unfortunately, this is not the case since it has so few episodes, so not much can be done about it. But I'm really enjoying the show so far! The songs are amazing, the animation is really good and even if its rushed and with too many characters for such a short series(Mimzy was so random and out of place), the story and main characters are really nice!

There have been some interesting stuff in the later episodes but still doesn’t fix the tone it’s all over the place,the writing is exactly like helleva boss, timing was off, and pacing is too fast.

I'm sorry but i don't really get the "criticism" of the characters swearing "too much" to me it's stupid, and adam swearing and being a jackass is a good example that the Angels are hypocrites, I'm pretty sure that was intentional. but even if u ppl mean like all characters swearing in general, i still don't understand how that's a problem, i don't see it as a problem in the slightest.
That's the problem of swearing, it's to show that YOU have no manners (Just like Adam, who swears all the time) It's okay if you swear just for for shit and giggles, but it's not really okay if you swears just because you made it your whole personality. Have you ever wonder why Adam is hated? Duh because he's swears all the time like the main cast who swears like one or two.
I personally feel if Hazbin was never delayed in last years summer since drama wasnt as extreme as it is now, wed definitely would have a much easier time than we do now. Yeh people would still be angry but premiering early it woulda been loved 10 times more than it is now.

I do agree that the story has been rushed- as a long time watcher it honestly didnt bother me at first because i was just so hyped about it that i soaked it all up and just enjoyed it- but when i gave it a second rewatch i do have to agree sometimes the episodes feel crammed with information and it must be hard for people that havent seen the pilot

Personally, I'm entirely on the fence, which is the last place I expected to be with this show. I expected loving it, I expected hating it, but I didn't expect to feel mostly ambivalent about it outside of the context of a few key moments and a handful of pieces with potential if they're explored later. Like, Helluvaboss I was willing to write off as a fluke when it started to dip in Season 2, because it's an indie youtube project and dividing work between it and Hazbin. But now that I'm seeing that even with studio standards and resources the same issues are creeping up, I'm starting to think this is just how Viv writes. And if so, I'm going to be really disappointed, because unlike Helluvaboss, as it was pitched Hazbin is supposed to be a drama first and a comedy second. Inconsistencies in pace and tone are going to matter much more here. Hazbin actually has potential to be more than cock jokes and horny demons murdering people and is aspiring to be more, so its gonna be sad if that sticks. Also while I'm not going to shit on the VAs or anybody- they seem to be putting in the work and the preformances have all been fantastic so far- it does feel very different from the pilot. I can't put my finger on it, but there's a missing chemistry that was in the original cast that frankly was a lot of the draw for me. Hell, I pulled up an old Hunicast the other day just to check that I wasn't bugging and there's a jena se qua that didn't make it over to the production. Other than a few high points, like Lucifer and Charlie's duet or most of Episode 4, this has been the definition of a 6/10 for me. It's alright, and they have my attention enough to at least finish out the season, but unless it really kicks things into gear soon I feel like its destined for a Helluvaboss style stall out from being spread too thin. P.S. The fanbase is also an absolute goddamn mess. I'm sick of seeing threads of teens going, "Nuh uh, you wrong because Vivzie said a thing once on Twitter" any time that someone has an actual nuanced, critical opinion on one of her shows. I overall liked the show, and I wasn't even a fan of the pilot. The animation is really good, the voice acting is great (exept for Vaggie, who seems a little lackluster). The songs are great. I usually hate musicals but most of the songs were really good. The story and the characters is great, though the writing is kinda mid at some times. The worst thing about it is the pacing. Everything goes by way to fast, and the episodes are way too short. Especially since there are only 8 episodes. Hopefully season 2 with have more episodes or at least be a little bit longer. To sum up my thoughts: .great animation . great songs . Great characters . mid writting (at times) . Extremely off pacing . episodes too short . Not enough episodes. . Great voice acting . Interesting setting . Cool lore

The Lucifer and Lilith story got leaked and I accidentally saw it but I thought it was a fan animation.
A lot of this The problems could been less prevalent if prime gave the first season more episodes
