I’ve been getting a ton of requests for a ‘day in the life’ type video, and while most 'day in the life' videos leave you hanging when it comes to sharing productivity and efficiency tips…this 'day in the life' is different! In today’s video, I’m showing you how I organize a typical workday as a young professional, and how I'm always working towards having a healthy work-life balance….so that it’s not ALL work and no play.
A typical day in my life is never the same… so come to work with me and see what it’s like to work a day in my life as a producer, UA-camr, and social media influencer! I normally work from home or at a coffee shop, but due to recent circumstances, I’m currently working from home outside of my New York City apartment with family. (Currently, we're staying with Michael's family, but we've been going back and forth a bit between our two families!)
If you’ve watched some of my other UA-cam videos, you know how deeply I believe in building a healthy morning routine. My morning routine starts around 8am, and it consists of things like journaling, yoga, stretching, reading, affirmations and more.
After I finish my morning routine, I grab my iced coffee and some breakfast and start planning out my day. I use Play My Emails in Outlook in the morning while I’m making breakfast. It helps me save time while I listen to my emails. As long as the weather permits, I try to eat my breakfast and spend as much time throughout the day outside as I can. Getting fresh air is so important and I often forget and just plow through the entire day without going outdoors once.
Before I dive into my work, I basically do a journaling brain-dump of anything that pops into my head -- I try to write out everything I have to get done that day. Something else that’s a major part of my work day routine is allocating time to my habit tracker…this is where I keep note of the habits that I’m tracking. If you’ve followed me for a few years now, you’ve probably seen some of my bullet journaling videos and some really useful habit trackers I’ve built in the past. You can check out those videos on either my channel or Refinery29’s, but in this video I’m showing you how I make sure to incorporate those habits into my day by scheduling them into my calendar, and showing you the reminders I use to make sure I’m staying on track.
To have a productive day, it’s important to keep a calendar. After writing down my tasks and to-do’s for the day in my planner, I’m ready to organize my business-related activities, my personal life-activities and my personal habits I want to track! I do this all in 1 mobile app using the integrated email & calendar on the Outlook app. Something that I explore in this video is how to achieve your personal life goals by adding them to your general to-do list and really prioritizing them in your day, just like work activities.
Once I finish my work for the day, I spend time with my family and usually have video calls with friends and family who I am not currently with…like my twin sister, Allie! Again, every day in my life is truly unique and my workflow is always changing. I hope you enjoyed this video and let me know what your work days are looking like these days! I filmed and edited the anchors, along with helping the reporters get their stories together and leading a class brainstorming session every other week. So I know how much hard work and effort goes into a video 😊 I think it has given me a deeper appreciation of all video content creations.

That bed in the shot was a bed in my in-laws' house! It's just a regular mattress but it's on a wooden slat floor frame, so it's kind of like it's on a platform on the floor!
