  • Rassler Racing's first race with it's new RX7 - a tribute to the TWR / Win Percy 1981 BSCC winning car.
With 40 litres of water strapped in the boot and (it turned out) a completely shot front left ball joint - giving the front left wheel a mind of its own - Rassler Racing attempted to qualify for the final of the 2023 Gordon Spice Trophy.
Starting from the back after being penalised for a weight infringement the task was to get from 29th to 15th place to make the final. We made it as far as 9th place before the engine gave up - limping across the line, hoping in vain for a chequered flag as the field streamed passed. The driver, Alex Taylor, parked up with an exhausted engine thinking all was lost. Turns out the flag was dropped a lap too late. After the wind back we'd qualified 13th! Sadly with no motor we couldn't make the final.
Credit to all the cars and drivers we ran with door to door in the race who, without exception, drove impeccably.
    Next time...

Valiant effort, this car might have been capable of being a contender, but he didn't use the exposive power out of the chicane, allowing minis to pull away from him. It felt as if the driver and car weren't in sync.
