What I really love about the FFXIV patches is the amount of QoL and improvements to older contents they do in them. It really shows that they care about more than just endgame and hardcore players.
I honestly believe that's the secret to success. Having new content is important of course, but something with the scope of an MMO needs constant QoL updates to refine systems and various aspects over time. If you just focus on releasing content and forget about it right after, you end up with a graveyard of outdated features that bog down the game rather than improve it. It's clear to me that the devs treat FFXIV like their baby and that's great to see
@@JackgarPrime I'll admit, having photocells for at least the first part would have been nice. @@anti-macro i also think thats one of the keys to ff14 success just the care put into all aspects of the content is amazing and it also just makes it fun to come back for a bit on a new patch cause sure there is that new stuff with new raids dungeons or what have you thats cool for players who enjoy that but then you also got the rewamped dungeons thats fun to just go and check out or other changes to content thats not really new but now very interesting to go and check out again with whats really just a new pair of glasses put on
I love that Mike hasn't even played the bulk of the patch, and he still loves it. The adventure plates were a huge surprise to me. Everyone I check has made one.
@@freakindamnshiki Right? Since it's still technically in beta (with the full rollout due for 6.2, I think?), I'm really looking forward to seeing how the "full" release will be. Are there going to be options you can unlock from achievements, from the achievement vendor, from each of the beast tribes, from the Golden Saucer, from the Wolf's Den, and every other little thing in the game? I'm TOTALLY stoked to see what happens with it.
Perhaps I'm just cynical but... the fact that he uploaded about what he loves about "Patch 6.1" and hasn't played the bulk of it just tells me he wanted to upload something about it while the hype was happening :(
@@orenji I don’t think so. This patch is huge. Usually there’s the msq and maybe one or two other focus items, but this patch has so many focus items (msq, role quests, alliance, housing, pvp) alongside the job revamps and numerous QoL updates that you can easily sink your teeth into anyone of them for days before remembering there’s other new stuff. I like split videos like this, especially when people are avoiding msq/alliance spoilers.
@@orenji OR... He wanted to talk about it because he was excited and happy... like we all are. Even if he had monetary interests behind it... He ain't lying, pretending or incentivizing you into anything... So... it doesn't matter.
I was so happy with the MSQ Roulette changes. Not only did they make them shorter, but the bosses are actually threatening now. Surprisingly, Gaius looks harder than most HW dungeon bosses lol. A lot of the attacks now show up, then only show the AoE circle/bar for a split second, just like modern dungeons. This helps teach players that sometimes you have to look at your surroundings. I was even surprised to see markers like Stack, Tankbuster, etc. appear in these dungeons. Honestly, this makes me envy new players because they get to experience ARR in a much better light.
One of the issues with prae and castrum is that we could originally skip those cut-scenes. The problem was that veterans would skip and pull back to back. Many new players then were more or less upset that they couldn't enjoy the dungeon for what it was, and new players were stuck in cut-scenes or "forced" to skip because "you can watch them later @ the inn" if they wanted to do the fights. They made them unskippable so new players wouldn't be "forced" to skip. People would find ways to still make it faster cuz it was boring. Just clarifying for those who never played XIV before the forced cut-scenes to know their original (and clearly mistaken) reasoning.
yeah, my first time running prae was basically just being in cutscenes the whole time or sitting outside of boss arenas/completely lost trying to find the group because while i was in a cutscene the group went ahead of me and did everything. it was not fun at all and one of a few reasons why i hated running dungeons for a while. i would be stuck on msq for weeks, months sometimes because i hated running them without friends and my anxiety would skyrocket.
@@icefox94 the first time i did prae (in 5.3, post skippable cutscenes) the main tank shirked onto me in front of the transporter and left me to die 😭 some things never change
Or even saying it when like a 3rd of the patch content hasn't released yet xD Between the Ultimate, and the side quests the announced for Tataru, Omega, Beast Tribes, and Ammeliance.
i went into some old dungeons for relic grinds and was stunned when the tank busters were telegrabphed with the shadowbringers tank-buster animation xD such a huge quality of life difference
As a player who doesnt tank often, this is huge for me to know when i should actually be using mitigation skills. Otherwise I'm just playing a minigame of 'buster or aoe' with the spell names in most random dungeons
I want to imagine that when a group zones into a raid that the boss just gets shown everyones adventure plate like at the start of PvP and just goes "I can't believe I'm about to get farmed by these people"
i like to imagine that too and now i kinda feel bad for the bosses....er well some of them atleast def feel bad for emet on that front...if we pretend this extends outside of endwalker XD now he will have no hope left in us XD
This is a great "something for everyone" patch. Crazy loaded up from top to bottom! And technically there is more content coming for this patch with the new sidequest lines.
@Jay Bee Isnt it the usuall thing? Arent recent FF14 expansion more content loaded in the middle/end of their cycle? If i remember correctly 5.1 was EXACTLY the same when it comes to new Content, MINUS crystal conflicht, Unreal Ultima and the Ultimate(which is only here because it got delayed)
@Jay Bee i agree a little it however, i dont think they will lose subs easily. Ultimate is gonna be the hardest ultimate according to yoshi p. So it wont be accessible to new players and new raiders, it will only keep a few hundred raiders sub until next patch. And yes they need to add something casual players will grind for. The new relic weapons will probably be added in next patch, they have to do it.
@Jay Bee It's been a common criticism that the meat of an expansion come way too late. In Stormblood, Anemos was supposed to come out in 4.15, but was delayed. Until 4.25, there was nothing to really grind, just Shinryu Extreme and UCoB prog for those that could. While this expac is looking up to beat Stormblood in terms of patch content, it still will be very backloaded.
I was never a PVP player in FF. After initial experiences, I believed the flaws to be integral for an mmo with a targeting system. But patch 6.1 made me a PVP fanatic! I'm so happy to be proven wrong by Yoshi P. yet again
I love that our devs constantly look at things that people don't like, or a lot of people don't like, and are going, "Hm. How can we make this better?"

The new direction of the MSQ has me so freaking excited by where to left off, the Alliance raid was incredible, CC is so fun, and the new Adventure Plates surprised me with how it just added this really cool immersion factor to the world. This patch has been absolutely huge so far and really makes the game feel like its moving forward to something brand new with Endwalker!
Ey you're gonna love the "odd numbered" patches then! Some history for whom might care: I believe it was Stormblood when they announced they would cut down the dungeon count per patch (only odd ones at the time) to focus development on other side activities and quality stuff. Until then we were getting two dungeons per patch. Of course this was met with quite the shitstorm of "GRAAAAAH LESS CONTENT?!? LESS DUNGEON????" but we can see this was the wise choice. THIS is content, adventurer plates and glamour plates and all that jazz are, arguably, the result of this shift. An extra dungeon can easily be forgotten after it falls off roulette, but this? It's forever.

I went to PvP with zero expectation just to get the extra adventurer plate decorations and the Bolvar glam. Ended up going to bed at 5 AM despite working the next day because "hey just one more game" and "hey, gotta leave on a victory." This is the biggest surprise of the patch for me, the teams who worked on PvP should be really proud of themselves.
1. Alliance Raid : blew my socks off, best ever? close with orbonne 2. MSQ: Set up the new threads while being down to earth and getting some good time with a favoured char 3. PVP: I hate pvp in nearly every game but i've actually sat down and had fun bashing away at this. Enjoying my class fantasy in small doses is nice. 4. Endsinger: Great music great difficulty, great fun blind 5. Plates: Glam/customisation is not my thing but seeing others creativity, so so good
I've become completely addicted to Crystalline Conflict. It definitely has room for improvement, but I love it and just can't stop instantly re-queueing after every match, win or lose.
I can't wait to see you do the final EX trial! As someone who's watched you since my wow days of olde I'm thrilled to see you do endgame content in real time in this game I call home :D
I ported into the Wolves' Den Pier today to mess with my buttons and was amazed that the place is just packed now! Every time I've been in there since I started playing regularly last summer that has not been the case. And yeah, the story is good in the MSQ. Looking forward to your take on it!
Awesome video as always! You are so right on all points. I've always been amazed by how the game is created and treated from ARR through the current expansion. Only in FF14 is "old" content anything but, because between the roulette system for levelling and the occasional visits to familiar places it's always done with care and with the whole playerbase in mind. I came back to the game about 5 months ago and wish I never left. It's been a treat catching up on everything and sharing the journey with you and your community. Cheers!
Now that I up to date with patches, I really started to appreciate the amount of cutscenes even more. Getting a quest dialogue when there's a bunch of other players in same location really breaks emersion of you being the WoL
So glad you found this mmo. Its so nice to hear you give positive after positive review. To be honest, you are much funnier in these, than in the wow vids.
@@Shiirow Right? I have my PLD Lux glammed on my PLD, and just happened to be on PLD when playing with the plate. As I was going through the stances, I got to the one with the weapon drawn, and immediately I was, "OH MY GOD!"
Adventurer Plates were definitely the sleeper hit of the patch. It had a lukewarm or "what the hell is this?" reception when it was introduced but since we've gotten our hands on it, it's simply been fully embraced. And the chaos from the creativity is a joy to see. When I zone into raids and trials now I check out the plates of my party. It's great fun!
Really refreshing to see them take some time to address old issues and give some TLC to older content - also makes perfect sense as 6.1 is meant to be a new start for the game. Far too often I see games focusing solely on recent content rather than looking at the big picture. As much as we all love new content to sink our teeth into, an MMO needs constant QoL updates to keep those gears turning smoothly.
Jesus is coming soon! Repent! Be saved and born again! Religion won’t save you only Jesus❤️ not even the religion of watered down “Christianity” know Jesus and not just of Him! Repent! Love y’all God does more!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's my first time experiencing a new patch as well. I was playing during the last year of ShB, but I was still catching-up. The thing that impressed me the most about this patch, besides the quality of the new content, is that seemingly no stone was left untouched. No matter your playstyle, or how much you play, there's something for you there.
13:15 Same here,i just logged in and went straight to the adventurer plate. I didnt really care about this feature when they announced it but damn i absolutely love it now
It has all been pretty amazing. The MSQ is a really good start to a new story with some brilliant moments and the Alliance raid is probably my favorate Alliance raid so far and I have really enjoyed the new PvP system. I have mostly gotten the Ultima Weapon fight in the MSQ roulette but it is really night and day on how much of an improvement it is. All this of course before we have the Ultimate released and the new Tribe quests, Hildi quests and the new Custom Deliveries in a few weeks.
I know this sounds wierd but I actually kinda like the new housing system? When I got my house they had all plots available for FCs only or current homeowners for 2 weeks. It was a gamble and not friendly for any new time buyers. Which were a LOT, and many people tempt left their FC to try and get a house. Now you go up to the plot, put a bid and come back later. There's no spamming the sign and trying to scare off buyers, you can see how many people have put in a bid, and you have a timer set for when you need to log back in and see if you won.
Crystal Conflict is amazing. You are totally right, ranking up doesn't feel great right now, but the gameplay itself is fun, fast paced, and rewarding. It is also really cool seeing your adventure plate before the matches alongside others. I honestly hope they consider doing this for Dungeons where you can maybe see your whole party briefly before the dungeon starts.
I was surprised in how much I liked the plates too, usually I get choice paralysis with these sorts of things, but as I tried it out, I got to piece more and more of how my character seemed. PVP is also super fun, and is probably one of the least frustrating pvp content I've seen in a game ever. Oh and Preach! You should definitely check out FF9 since you loved 14, there would be plenty of moments where you witness something and be like "Hey wait that's...!" And that'd be really fun to watch your reaction. Keep at it man, love your stuff
Adventurer plates are SO fun! I love to mess around, see other people's reactions to those super lewd ones, I laugh at the really silly ones. People are so creative with them
As a long time FFXIV player, since 2.0 BEta, 0.1 patches have always been QOL but honestly this is easily one of the best QOL with PvP and Adventurer Plates alone, not even talking about the early ARR dungeons. The MSQ and Alliance Raids were also amazing in terms of set up And we still have Ultimate and we still have Housing And we still have DC travel I'm REALLY pleased. Possibly one of the best patches in general that wasnt JUST from MSQ hype
IMO this is a 5.3 quality content patch. The new story is really promising , the new alliance raid is awesome, the new dungeon is great, the new music is really good, ARR dungeons and MSQ roulette are much better (or at least less boring) adventurer plates are next level gpose and a really good idea (and probably gonna get copied presto by WoW, GW2 and ESO lol) and god damn the PvP is so good it's like I woke up in another timeline. Duty support I personally couldn't care less but good for anxious or anti-social players I guess, so add that to the list too if you want. Super good patch, I'm really happy.
I just love the amount of gathering and crafting I have to do do make the new gear for crafters and gatherers... Just "love" the sheer amount of solutions, danburite, and hannish. Sarcasm aside, I do enjoy crafting and gathering to an extent, and prefer it over pvp. I prefer Adventurer Plates over pvp too. But crafting and gathering? There are even some--albeit easy, and probably will be needed again later on--legendary fish to catch. I'm glad you're enjoying the patch's content and QoL stuff, and I hope you enjoy the story and new raid as well.
Those adventurer plates look so fun, reminds me of the addon you had in vanilla wow years ago where people wrote the character biography you could view
Who else gets excited for preach videos now that he is doing FF14 content and just seems so much happier? I love it man, so glad you got away from the toxicity that was WoW. You seem so much better for it.
Why is it always about "WoW vs FFXIV" for you people? Is it just mandatory at this point and being excited about more people getting into XIV isn't enough?
it wouldn't even have to be XIV specifically. Elden Ring has been similar for some of the solo game players. It's a joy and a treat to watch streamers genuinely enjoy themselves and cheer on what a development team is doing, instead of having an hour long yell fest about how horrible the new content actually is. WoW vs Every Other Game is the real problem today. The king of MMOs has rotted from the inside out, and every person who frees themselves from an abusive relationship is worth supporting.
My adventure plate is a lalafell with a mustache standing behind the DPS logo and using it as censorship bar while wearing nothing but skin color tights.
Interesting thing about the adventurer plates: it looks like they are starting to implement unlockable elements that you can earn in-game (and maybe even a few in Mogstation in due time), so the customization potential likely will not end here! That said, the revamped dungeons are quite nice (although I believe they mostly focused on story-related ones to line up with the Trusts), especially the MSQ roulette dungeons which are now actual fun dungeons to run. This was also the first time one of my sprout friends had seen a stack marker, which was an interesting moment... XD
Really appreciating the no spoiler video Mike! My internet crapped itself this week so I’m on day 3 of no internet with the new patch :( was too intimidated to try the PVP but might give it a go this time
I thankfully had an alt that was shortly before Cape Westwind, and omg...the change to that is FANTASTIC. It's an interesting fight and it has STORY going on during the fight! I highly recommend New Game + to do the new Cape Westwind fight as well as the new Lahabrea fight which is also pretty damn cool now. The transition in that one is awesome.
I mso happy Mike has continued playing and enjoying FF14 even after the Endwalker MSQ. I really really was looking forward to seeing Asmongold and his Chat react to some of the major events in Shadowbringers and Endwalker but he seems stuck on bashing wow... at least we have PREACH! I'm glad 6.1 has him so hyped!
dont most of you ff14 players just spend your free time bashing wow? cant see a ff video without someone mentioning it, the level of salt is always funny to me

Crystaline Conflict Overtime For Dummies (Important for people playing this game mode. Pin it if you want.) 1.) When 5 minutes are up, the game does what I am calling an Overtime check. The overtime check works like this. If there is a team pushing with the crystal when 5 minutes are up and they are in the lead, they immediately win. If they are not the team that is winning, then that is when you go into overtime. 2.) To win in overtime is dependent on which side you are. If you are on the losing side, your goal is to just get a higher percentage than your opponent's highest percentage score when they last had the crystal. Exp: the enemy team managed to move the crystal up to 55%. Your goal as the team with the crystal is to just get to that 55% because the moment you cross as much as a 0.1% you win. 3.) If you are the winning team, your goal is to regain control of the crystal. if you manage to recapture the crystal before the enemy is able to pass you, you win the game. 4.) note that I have not said that you need to reach 100% to win the game for overtime. You just need to get further than your opponent if you are the losing team and you need to regain control if you are the winning team. Hope this helps any Crystaline Conflict noobies out there
And then there's the perennial "Yoshida, nerf healers plssssss!!" Both when getting absolutely carried by one or miserably failing to dive and kill one.
This is true lol. But i think it’s because of your teammates too. If a sam or any high dps classes under performed it can really affect the whole team. It sucks that a team player cant carry the group if some doesn’t do good.
FFXIV has really delivered lately. First experiencing the MSQ after Endwalker release - then doing endgame stuff for some time. Then came 6.1, some more msq, quality of life updates and Chrystalline conflict - amazing addictive pvp. There is always something to achieve and do in this world. Love it so much
The best part of the Praetorium/Castrum revamp is that they made it so much better for both the new players and the roulette, rather than just for one. It is the initial climax of ARR - Now it feels appropriately challanging, and enganging for that. You aren't just rushed through by 7 other people, with no idea what's happening. You actually get to do the dungeon. And for the roulette, it's both shorter, and the fights are enganging, so when you do the gameplay it's actually fun. Pretty impressive stuff, and I think it vastly improves 2.0. 2.0 now ends on 5 fantastic combat encounters back to back (Cape Westwind, Castrum, Praetorium, Ultima and Lahabrea), as opposed to 3 just awful ones.
Yeah, the climax of 2.0 is now basically a boss rush if you think about it. Cape Westwind is a giant steel dude that just refuses to die, Praetorium you fight a fast as lightning love-psycho, Castrum you get red power ranger with giant hammer and golden general with laser beam gunsword. Then we get to Ultima Weapon that we would have died to (5 TIMES!) if not for our giant crystal momma and then we get straight up shot by Frieza's giant ball of doom to our face and return with Super Sayian aura crystals of light power boost. If that's not a definition of epic then fuck me, I don't know what is.
They also made Trust work in leveling dungeons 1-50 which is great. I made all my combat Jobs 50+ 6 months ago so i will have to wait for future patch when they will finish it and make 50-70 ones also work :)
FFXIV patches come with some changes people like and some people don't, but you can always tell that the team has tried to understand what the players want to play and how that matches up with the gameplay experience they want to provide.
For me the biggest features are the "checked if aquired" and adventure card. I haven't done any content since 6.1, I've only been doing my card, and decorating our new large fc house we won in ishgard before they paused the lottery

Paladin feels really good in the new PvP, the Phalanx LB is such a game changer when set up correctly, there have been several times I've won a match because of it.
As someone who tried for years to enjoy Main Tank in OW, Paladin and Phalanx has given me what I was looking for. I don't want to throw down my hammer, I want to become immortal long enough for my team to regroup in Overtime, it's absolutely nuts how good that Ult is.
You missed out that on PVP not only the LB, all job basically has different skill that is very thematic with their class fantasy compared to the PVE one.
One of the biggest advantages i've given WOW was the PVP aspect, as I had thought that "no other MMO can come close to the fast paced PVP." Then I saw your video preach, so I decided to give it a try...And I love it, oh god do I love the revamped version of PVP. Did around 25+ matches in a single night, something about fights being quick and not a drag slowly burning a healers mana pool. It feels wonderful, this also shows me that PVP in a MMO CAN be good without the need for gear. I hope other MMO's learn from this.
They did revamp old dungeons in WoW. Deadmines, Stockades, and Shadowfang Keep. But the amount of time you spend at those levels is so small that most people don't run them any more.
Deadmines, they just replaced mobs. same dungeon, same layout. Stockades, they just replace mobs. same dungeon, same layout. Shadowfang Keep, just replaced mobs. same dungeon, same layout. Scholomance, just replaced mobs. same dungeon, roughly same layout. Scarlet Monestary, replaced mobs, merged four wings into two. same dungeon, roughly same layout. It was all a gimmick that was abandoned shortly thereafter. now they are doing the same gimmick but with mythic+.
4:30 - Main Scenario roulette gave a ton of poetics and exp because the ONLY 2 dungeons you could get were Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium. And Prae gave more exp than Castrum because it was longer. You couldn't get anything else in that roulette.
On the topic of reward structures and incentives I have been grinding PvP for 40 hours now, to get the Garo Sets, a bunch of armor sets that have no stats, no gains, they do nothing but they look so gosh darn cool that they are rewarding inherently (It helps that CC is loads of fun too)
Castrum was a CRAZY update. 4 person dungeon now, it’s actually kind of a challenge, the fights are fun and engaging, and most of the tedious crap got cut. I enjoyed it so much
Totally agreed! I think some people were saying ff14s fight is too slow. (Actually as all know if you go up to lv90 pretty busy bc of the mechanics) so answers. Lower dungeons get more mechanics to work with just enough not to overwhelm you at the starting point. Then pvp was fun! And not just the time it takes to finish one game but the quickness of the actions and intensity makes it fun. And that plate. I play pvp just to look at everyone’s plates. Funny ones included, those hype me up (and half make me laugh) so much! Loving this patch! Can’t believe we are getting more soon!
I spent 2 days playing pvp. I stopped only because I want to play the story and the raids lol. It's incredibly addictive. (before 6.1 I played no pvp at all)
Remember when people were saying XIV was shit because of the amount of boss fights per patch we got was ridiculous even for the cadence at which we were getting patches? Everyone forgets we get a truckload of alternative stuff as well, like the pvp revamp, the deep dungeons, places like Eureka and Bozja - they don't count that, they just count the raid tiers as if we didn't get any other content, but when a patch drops, it tends to drop *hard*
The Adventurer plates were indeed something I didn't expect to enjoy as much. I love the suggestive ones too, because some of them get really creative and frankly I hope they don't restrict it in any way.
had a casual match of pvp yesterday where we were getting dunked on a bit, and when the crystal was less than a second away from being pushed into our base, our tank leapt in to stop it from moving, bought us enough time for my team to respawn, and i landed a 5man WHM ult, we turned the fight around and must have thrown off the enemy's mindset so hard because they failed to coordinate the rest of the match as we pushed it all the way from 90% to our base all the way to 100% into theirs, it was like a moment from dota/league where the initiator gets a 5man stun on the whole team and completely brings the game back and all the shoutcasters are popping off pretty good gamemode/10
The yellow check mark for stuff you own is the BEST QOL change they added, Jesus Christ 😩 I also love adventure plates but theres what I say is a glitch to where even when you link to a gear set, the "instant portrait" does not register the pose and you have to set it every time you switch to linked classes, yet some stick just fine, if anyone has a fix for that incase it's just me missing something please let me know, all I've done is delete them all and remake my poses but still does it
I'm loving the PvP and the plates, it's so much fun to see what people can come up with, and to try out making my own for different jobs. My DRK portrait is edge incarnate and my DRG one looks like he's dazed, confused, and probably drunk.
Yoshi and his team just keep stomping blizz in every aspect.. with a way smaller budget, but instead a crew, that listens to their players and where every key member has a passion for their craft
I have never ever done PvP in 14 prior to this because of how clunky the setup was and the fact that there was still button bloat. Plus the time investment and the frustration of being stuck losing for 20-40 minutes. Crystal Conflict has seen me spending several HOURS of the last couple of days in PvP and telling my friends to do it too.
The dungeon revamps took me by the most surprise, but I've been spending the most time in PVP and my adventure plates. Did you know you can bind plates to each of your glam/job/gearsets? It's AMAZING!!!
Agree wholeheartedly with this list. I’ve been playing the pvp for years and omg crystal conflict is such a change in the best direction! I can’t wait for them to polish it a tad more kah! And omg the portraits, I’ve sunk too many hours already 😂
You used to be able to do WoW's version of Adventure Plates back in the original armory in BC. The Adventure Plates showing in PvP really made me interested in playing, let alone you don't have to unlock it.
First thing I did when I logged in after the patch was my adventurer plate. I didn’t want mike to run into mile and have him dismiss me as trash or a bot! Plates are now what distinguishes a bot from a real player!
The adventurer plate was definitely a surprise. I messed with it a bit the moment i logged in for the new patch and immediately went to look for other people who have done it as well, and it's so good to see how it matches either the player or the character's personality. And the more, let's say.. "creative" ones are so goddamn funny. I love this feature xD
I've been playing this game for years and I can only say this patch is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Super fun, super refreshing, the devs are puting a lot of work into making a game for everyone to love. I really enjoyed it so much.

No joke at one point we had Prae down to 10 mins
yeah, my first time running prae was basically just being in cutscenes the whole time or sitting outside of boss arenas/completely lost trying to find the group because while i was in a cutscene the group went ahead of me and did everything. it was not fun at all and one of a few reasons why i hated running dungeons for a while. i would be stuck on msq for weeks, months sometimes because i hated running them without friends and my anxiety would skyrocket.
@@icefox94 the first time i did prae (in 5.3, post skippable cutscenes) the main tank shirked onto me in front of the transporter and left me to die 😭 some things never change
Mike experiences 10% of the patch content: "THIS IS THE BEST PATCH EVER" Love to see it.
Presonally, the new Alliance Raid just blew my balls off.
was going to say the same xD
Or even saying it when like a 3rd of the patch content hasn't released yet xD Between the Ultimate, and the side quests the announced for Tataru, Omega, Beast Tribes, and Ammeliance.
It is SO much better than Nier in terms of mechanics and aesthetics in FFXIV that he's sure to love it.
I was in awe just visiting the neutral area for the alliance raid. I'm hooked on finding out more information.
They gave us a boss arena that wasn't a square or a circle.... and made it work with the mechanics of the fight.... what madness is this?
i went into some old dungeons for relic grinds and was stunned when the tank busters were telegrabphed with the shadowbringers tank-buster animation xD such a huge quality of life difference
As a player who doesnt tank often, this is huge for me to know when i should actually be using mitigation skills. Otherwise I'm just playing a minigame of 'buster or aoe' with the spell names in most random dungeons
I want to imagine that when a group zones into a raid that the boss just gets shown everyones adventure plate like at the start of PvP and just goes
"I can't believe I'm about to get farmed by these people"
i like to imagine that too and now i kinda feel bad for the bosses....er well some of them atleast def feel bad for emet on that front...if we pretend this extends outside of endwalker XD

I hear IGN gave this patch a 9/10. lol

This patch has been absolutely huge so far and really makes the game feel like its moving forward to something brand new with Endwalker!
I really enjoyed the patch. SE basically gave us a bunch of toys and said "go". There was a little bit of everything for everyone.
Ey you're gonna love the "odd numbered" patches then!
Some history for whom might care:
I believe it was Stormblood when they announced they would cut down the dungeon count per patch (only odd ones at the time) to focus development on other side activities and quality stuff.
While I get your point, that's a terrible example. Level designers, model sculptors and composers aren't designing game systems.
Ultima Weapon as a trial is the absolute biggest win of the old revamp, the fight was a joke for 6 years after release and now it’s glorious again.

2. MSQ: Set up the new threads while being down to earth and getting some good time with a favoured char

I've become completely addicted to Crystalline Conflict. It definitely has room for improvement, but I love it and just can't stop instantly re-queueing after every match, win or lose.

I love the Adventurer Plate so much I went out and got my AST Lux over the last two days just so I could use the animation in the plate.

Mike is about to become the conductor of the hype train itself! :D Great to see you are enjoying yourself, greetings from germany!
Between PvP and being shocked with glee/horror at the adventure plates I haven't gotten round to touching much else so far. Can't wait!
The 6.1 Patch is a quality of life patch in FFXiIV. The MSQ and Alliance-Raid are just a bonus :)
Unless you're trying for housing in Ishgard lmao. Introducing the mythical 0.
People are so creative with them
I really love the fact Mike is enjoying FFXIV so much and is just having one hell of a time with, well anything really
As a long time FFXIV player, since 2.0 BEta, 0.1 patches have always been QOL but honestly this is easily one of the best QOL with PvP and Adventurer Plates alone, not even talking about the early ARR dungeons. The MSQ and Alliance Raids were also amazing in terms of set up
And we still have Ultimate
and we still have Housing
And we still have DC travel
I'm REALLY pleased.
That Addon never left. it's basically a must have Addon for RP. In modern WoW it's called TRP3
Surprised how much the plates are. I've fiddled with mine almost everyday so far.
6.1 Is fucking amazing. They've knocked it out of the park with this one.

Who else gets excited for preach videos now that he is doing FF14 content and just seems so much happier? I love it man, so glad you got away from the toxicity that was WoW. You seem so much better for it.
same happened to most wow streamers, they are actually happy doing ffxiv content
Meanwhile the ones still huffing copium will just call it "toxic positivity"
Look at that smile.
The smile of a man out of a toxic relationship with bobby.
The best is yet to come! THE HIPPO TROLLEY!!!
And the ultimate, cant fcking wait for the ultimate baybay!
I have to say that I spent a lot of time designing my Adventurer plate. That was quite a fun activity all on its own!
My adventure plate is a lalafell with a mustache standing behind the DPS logo and using it as censorship bar while wearing nothing but skin color tights.
God damn I can't wait for you to go thru MSQ and alliance raid. They went full ham for this patch it's unbelievable.
XD

Crystaline Conflict Overtime For Dummies (Important for people playing this game mode. Pin it if you want.)
1.) When 5 minutes are up, the game does what I am calling an Overtime check.
Hope this helps any Crystaline Conflict noobies out there
PvP matchs in this game, for me, are: "OMG, how am I this bad?" or "OMG, I'm amazing!" And there is no in between. 🤣
Starts and ends the video with a smile.
Beautiful.
Praetorium didn't "kinda suck" it ... REALLY fucking sucked. It wasn't a small aggravation ,it was a massive aggravation.

As someone who tried for years to enjoy Main Tank in OW, Paladin and Phalanx has given me what I was looking for. I don't want to throw down my hammer, I want to become immortal long enough for my team to regroup in Overtime, it's absolutely nuts how good that Ult is.
So happy about the qol in 6.1. I've been asking for things like being able to see what minions and orchestrion rolls I already have since Heavensward.
You missed out that on PVP not only the LB, all job basically has different skill that is very thematic with their class fantasy compared to the PVE one.
One of the biggest advantages i've given WOW was the PVP aspect, as I had thought that "no other MMO can come close to the fast paced PVP."
Then I saw your video preach, so I decided to give it a try...And I love it, oh god do I love the revamped version of PVP. Did around 25+ matches in a single night, something about fights being quick and not a drag slowly burning a healers mana pool. It feels wonderful, this also shows me that PVP in a MMO CAN be good without the need for gear. I hope other MMO's learn from this.
I'm betting, when Rival Wings Come back, it going to be even MORE like a MOBA.
solid top 5 list Mike! good times!! and yes, the fun continues!

On the topic of reward structures and incentives
I have been grinding PvP for 40 hours now, to get the Garo Sets, a bunch of armor sets that have no stats, no gains, they do nothing but they look so gosh darn cool that they are rewarding inherently (It helps that CC is loads of fun too)
Castrum was a CRAZY update.
My favorite feature is seeing Preach happy again with gaming instead of suffering :P
I just wish Asmon would realize this too. He did say he would be back this month, but I don’t really trust him.
The alliance raid was truly a highlight for me, though pvp has also been a ton of fun. Also some great job changes too
I spent 2 days playing pvp.
I like to think of floor inspector as kind of an idiot savant. she's akward and asocial, but she spouts out blurts of insight between akward laughs.
The Adventurer plates were indeed something I didn't expect to enjoy as much. I love the suggestive ones too, because some of them get really creative and frankly I hope they don't restrict it in any way.
had a casual match of pvp yesterday where we were getting dunked on a bit, and when the crystal was less than a second away from being pushed into our base, our tank leapt in to stop it from moving, bought us enough time for my team to respawn, and i landed a 5man WHM ult, we turned the fight around and must have thrown off the enemy's mindset so hard because they failed to coordinate the rest of the match as we pushed it all the way from 90% to our base all the way to 100% into theirs, it was like a moment from dota/league where the initiator gets a 5man stun on the whole team and completely brings the game back and all the shoutcasters are popping off
pretty good gamemode/10
6.1 is one of the best patches they've done
The yellow check mark for stuff you own is the BEST QOL change they added, Jesus Christ 😩
I also love adventure plates but theres what I say is a glitch to where even when you link to a gear set, the "instant portrait" does not register the pose and you have to set it every time you switch to linked classes, yet some stick just fine, if anyone has a fix for that incase it's just me missing something please let me know, all I've done is delete them all and remake my poses but still does it
I noticed the ticks yesterday and thought I was too stupid to have noticed them before. It is a really helpful change.
Like you I also haven’t touched msq. Its pretty much been pvp and adventure plates for me. I do need to get on it though to play with friends
Guild Wars 2 could use a rebuild of their old dungeon content too.
Yea, adventurer plates is my #1 and I DID NOT SEE IT COMING
The adventurer plate was definitely a surprise. I messed with it a bit the moment i logged in for the new patch and immediately went to look for other people who have done it as well, and it's so good to see how it matches either the player or the character's personality. And the more, let's say.. "creative" ones are so goddamn funny. I love this feature xD
Your hair looks great Mike!
I've been playing this game for years and I can only say this patch is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Super fun, super refreshing, the devs are puting a lot of work into making a game for everyone to love. I really enjoyed it so much.
I never thought i would ever say this, but FFXIV PVP feels quite good to play now
So excited that you’re excited!
Mike, adventure plates contest some day. Yes?
