From 2018/19 the athletic dept only cleared 12 million.
@@robjohnson8861 I can't disagree with the vast majority of what you are saying. I sure as the hell would like to know how Erik Chinander can justify to himself his still being the defensive coordinator.. Without exaggeration, the defense through three games is as bad as I have ever seen and that includes the Kevin Cosgrove debacle. What am I missing.....for Christ's sake Trev is a Blackshirts legend! If he had any character, any integrity he would have resigned after learning that Frost was axed! They rank 124th out of 131 in the country in total yards allowed and this was advertised as the most talent laden defense Nebraska has had in many years. To allow this many yards to Northwestern, North Dakota, and Georgia Southern and cashing a paycheck???? How? I would like Trev to interview PJ Fleck.....
What is next for Scott Frost top 2 1. Nick Saban will welcome Scott Frost with open arms to work as a Offensive analyst at Alabama by next year better known as Nick Saban coaching school in 2023. 2. Georgia State from Sun Belt conference is a good fit for Scott Frost.
OR maybe Frost is just a shit HC. Pelini was. Callahan was. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe frost can be like Monte Kiffin and spend 400 years as an OC.
Not a Nebraska or Big10 fan but as an outside observer Frost always looked miserable on the field during games. I wonder if that was normal demeanor or if he felt outmatched or overwhelmed with the job?
Erick Chinander has some audacity in not immediately resigning.....the defensive sword was the largest,, most impactful of all the swords Coach Frost eventually fell upon.. I am not hearing ANYONE, yet, start taking responsibility for historically terrible defenses on Chinanders watch! Up until this year, Coach Frost entrusted Chinander nearly lock, stock, and barrel to lead the defense with very,, very,, very,, little oversight while he did his thing with the offense....ala Coach McBride and Coach Osborne. All Chinander did was take good athletes, hamstring the their athleticism with pillow soft,, untenable defensive schemes that didn't work at UCF and clearly aren't working in Lincoln, and take zero responsibility! Nobody has been more supportive of Coach Frost than I.....he and Big Grant are my two favorite Huskers ever. However, after that loss on sacred Tom Osborne Field (reminded me of sitting in Memorial Stadium watching them lose to Souther Miss during the Callahan years) given every opportunity a program can give a Head Coach, yes, I agree that he had to be fired. Again, the fact that Chinander has not accepted any real responsibility for historically horrific defenses contributing to all of the losses despite haveing good talent and not resigned immediately revels, to me, a significant character flaw. I posted the following a few times since his hiring that Mickey Joseph would, soon, be a head coach...very impressive man. I did not, however, believe that his first gig would be now........ 2018 the defense allowed an average of 34.3 points per conference game. 2019 the defense allowed an average of 30.0 points per conference game. 2020 the defense allowed an average of 29.3 points per conference game. 2021 the defense allowed an average of 26.5 points per conference game. 2022 the defense is allowing an average of 31 points per game

@@rocket9244 You do realize he started out making 5 million a year, and the pay cut took it to 4 million, right? He will basically be getting, on average, his salary for the next several years. If I had a million of that I would bet you he would rather have his job for the next 20 years, be leading the team to 10 win seasons and earning that money than being embarrassed and kicked to the curb from his dream job. If you doubt that, you have never been a true competitor. He would make a lot more being successful at NU than this buyout gives him.
I feel there was some playing time awarded due to where the player was from. Gifford is going to be a good player, but he isn’t yet. Burned all night on Saturday but still played.
For all the Frost apologists on this strand, I think WE can all agree that Nebraska gave him every shot to succeed. The WSJ today published that the average American family makes in the mid-70K per year. Frost got paid $16M for failing on top of his already hefty multimillion dollar salary. His buyout alone equates to more than 200X the average annual income of a normal family. Can we PLEASE stop feeling bad for Scott. He failed and was paid handsomely for it. That said, I truly wish Frost well in his future endeavors. It is time to move on.
Having watched the press conference myself, I have to say this is a very great recap by Sam. It was clear Trev was smart enough to have a really thorough Plan B in place in the event of Scott Frost being fired. Also, the paid buyout is eye opening because that tells us all that there is a very serious wealthy booster (or two) that wants to see NU get this coaching hire right by getting on top of it asap. Don’t be mistaken, NU has boosters that will pay king’s ransom for the incoming coach, whoever that is.
@Silent Guardian U are totally BLIND Asshole. And this PROVES that the Frost Hire had its HATERS that had money and booed him from the start just like they did when he was our QB because he went to Stanford to be coached by the BEST QB coach in the country, Walsh. The rest of the coaches and the kids need to hold their own press conf. And tell the school and their money booster that they all voted no confidence in the school and the boosters and the college and at least half of the so called fans cause this opened their eyes to really how ruthless and stupid Nebraskians ARE. They now are if u lose the 1st game we want u gone. Well FUCK the SCHOOL the FANS and FUCK the ASS off of Trev. He should be next to go b4 he screws things up even more. Nebraska now has the rep that not only will they not honor their contrats they will really screw the coaches and the team over to not honor their word.
Just like a university to make a really stupid expensive decision. Would have been better to wait until October since the year will likely finish about the same. But it is only money. IF it was really YOUR money you’ll not make such a stupid financial decision. And we think universities are led by smart people. LOL Think again.
642 yards? I am reminded of Alie Sherman quote, "Statistics are for losers. Points are what counts." It's players not coaching. Nebraska lost the game to a superior offensive line by only 3 points. Good luck and best wishes to Scott.
Crazy. While one could laugh and take the money I think I would feel embarrassed that I was so horrible at my job my employer paid me an extra $7.5mil to go away. Especially if I had the ties to it Frost did. Frost doesn’t seem like he really cares though.
Coug fan here. Lord knows we've gone through our share of coaching changes, etc. It would be interesting to get Bill Moos's take on the Scott Frost situation. He was at WSU before Nebraska and hired Mike Leach which worked out well for the Cougs. I just don't know what changed from UCF to Nebraska for Scott Frost?
Scott Frost was never going to amount to what I think a lot of Husker fans were expecting, which was some sort of a return to the glory days of the Osborne era. I was skeptical from the beginning, and to see him fired now doesn't surprise me in the slightest, I'm honestly surprised he wasn't canned sooner.
You are still lost in the 90's as no coach will ever attain Osbornes wins AKA parity is here. congratulations on getting another good coach canned and get used to UN RANKED for another decade while frost will take his 16 million to Florida where with the recruiting he will field another un defeated team all the while in stinking Lincoln UN RANKED WILL BE THE PERMANENT STATUS THANKS TO DRUNKS STILL LIVING IN THE 90'S
I wish Trev knew why Scott Frost failed, only because the same hiring mistake can not be made again. I hope he figures it out or deep down he knows why and isn't saying.
I will always love and respect Frost........BUT, it is time for a change!! He's a very lost dog in a brutal and unforgiving conference!! Time to move-on!!
OU fan here; Husker fans deserve better. One can only assume the boosters gave up on Frost, and put their pocket books away. But in the era of NIL, you aren't going to rebuild with blood, sweat and tears; it will take money, and a lot of it.
Even though Scott frost fired his old assistant and came up with Whipple if he didn't do that he probably got fired last year that's why I kept his job this long I was hoping he will pull it through
They gave Frost a sweetheart deal on the way out. The school could've easily waited until Oct. 1 to give him his buyout. The season is lost and Frost's job was already dead to rights once the season ended, so I'm not sure what Nebraska accomplished by getting rid of him now when they could've paid him less to exit the program later. We're only three weeks into the season, so it's not like a coaching search will begin immediately. If I'm Nebraska, I'd consider hiring some young NFL assistant who's willing put up with recruiting and the TP and wants to take on the challenge of restoring a tarnished program.
@ M. Higgs U are a FOOL. If they waited until the 1st and frost won all of those games it proves how toughs teams that beat us are. * A dismal showing for 2.5 qtrs against ND before suddenly turn on the burners. It would be to obvious to lose but you could get Trev really hot.
* Then make a 1st coach look like Saban in the GASO game.
Trev is, at least on the outside, blowing the money off bec the booster paid for it. Remember this day 3 yrs from now when Neb starts moaning about needing money.
Scott Frost lately seemed like a farmer getting his farm foreclosed on. To me he had that same defeated look.

What is next for Scott Frost top 2
I'd like Frost at Boise State Avalos is a bad HC.Frost would do well there.
@@mattm402 how can pelini be a sh😊t head coach when he won 9 &10 games per year?
Not a Nebraska or Big10 fan but as an outside observer Frost always looked miserable on the field during games. I wonder if that was normal demeanor or if he felt outmatched or overwhelmed with the job?
Your right I've said it before. Stop worrying so much about traditions and the Nebraska way. Winning should be important than just looking the part.
2022 the defense is allowing an average of 31 points per game

he is laughing all the way to the bank. lol
I’d love to see Mickey get the job. He’s just an amazing person.
Yeah, diversity hires always prove themselves out.....Always!
Hiring an "amazing person" should not be the objective. Being "amazing" might be a tie-breaker. But it should not be high on the list of criteria.

I feel there was some playing time awarded due to where the player was from. Gifford is going to be a good player, but he isn’t yet. Burned all night on Saturday but still played.
What a joke it's all about money
For all the Frost apologists on this strand, I think WE can all agree that Nebraska gave him every shot to succeed. The WSJ today published that the average American family makes in the mid-70K per year. Frost got paid $16M for failing on top of his already hefty multimillion dollar salary. His buyout alone equates to more than 200X the average annual income of a normal family. Can we PLEASE stop feeling bad for Scott. He failed and was paid handsomely for it. That said, I truly wish Frost well in his future endeavors. It is time to move on.
When’s the comic book coming out ?
Having watched the press conference myself, I have to say this is a very great recap by Sam. It was clear Trev was smart enough to have a really thorough Plan B in place in the event of Scott Frost being fired. Also, the paid buyout is eye opening because that tells us all that there is a very serious wealthy booster (or two) that wants to see NU get this coaching hire right by getting on top of it asap. Don’t be mistaken, NU has boosters that will pay king’s ransom for the incoming coach, whoever that is.
7.5 is chump change with or without mystery booster.

Well said Sam.
LOL. Great point. Hiring Rhule will prove to be a disaster over the balance of the contract.
@MAS Well, for the sanity of the State of Nebraska and my fall Saturday's, I hope you're wrong.
I will always love and respect Frost........BUT, it is time for a change!! He's a very lost dog in a brutal and unforgiving conference!! Time to move-on!!

Plan A. Decided a year ago.
OU fan here; Husker fans deserve better. One can only assume the boosters gave up on Frost, and put their pocket books away. But in the era of NIL, you aren't going to rebuild with blood, sweat and tears; it will take money, and a lot of it.
Gruden is at home playing with the grand kids bring back Callahan to coach line. I lived in Tampa during his Tampa run he was great.
You know Callahan is a great example. Not all coaches are meant to be head coached and that's fine.
Full time, principaled coach. No posers.
Now Fuck the OU game we truly have zero chance cause the ONE person on that team that really understands Rivalry a REAL Rivally just had his heart taken out with this firing. And LOST the only other person on that CAMPUS that really understood the OU Rivalry cause Trev not only does not understand it he does not know who OU IS.
I think they paid Frost for all his years of service and because he’s a Nebraska guy. Paying in full also sends a message to the potential candidates- we are ready to pay and we honor our contracts.
