My family always wanting me to do their hair for FREE🤣🤣🤣🤣 they'll call, text, send a picture of the style they want, and expect me to do it for FREE. "Thank you!" doesn't pay the bills. However, as a self-taught stylist it's hard, because you do not get the credit you deserve; because you're doing hair in the living room, kitchen, or even mobile. I took a break, but definitely will be back at it next year. Trying to get my pages right, prices, and even contracts for clients to sign. This was very informative. Thanks for the key points.💛 - 🆑

Honestly this video helped me so much I just graduated from hair school and I lost motivation because I’ve been in the business for too long and I’m struggling I struggle especially with pricing
Start at a chain hair salon if you just got of school they pay you commission build your clientele there.

aw thanks so much for watching love what area of cosmetology did you want to go to school for? I initially went for hair but then I fell in love with nails but then went back to hair lol now im into makeup a lot

Hi, great tips. I just heard about hair and scalp detox services for people transitioning from chemical services. This would be a great add on service and can possibly be expanded to clients transitioning to all natural products from those containing synthetic ingredients. Blessings

I definitely will be taking some advise from your video. Business cards are in order because people stop me all the time and ask me who does my hair. Right now I’m kind of torn between doing hair at home while in school. You have any suggestions about that? Or should I just keep it limited to people I know?
Im going to follow you right now :) also I recommend doing what works best for you unfortunately while I was in beauty school I had to work 2 jobs so I had to do hair in between but if you have the clients I would do their hair because you want to build your clientele even if its a few people at a time.

I’m just starting doing hair and i’m very good at silk presses. Its what I specialize in right now. The only thing is people have saw my work and want to book me. I just don’t know if they would think it is unprofessional if I do hair out of my home... I don’t think I could make it paying booth rent right now. Any suggestions??
JaBre' Raven You're a "freelance" hairstylist generally taking clients at your residence. #Boujie 😎 In addition to what she said, stay there until you get an overflow of clients. Set your GOALS, and stick to it. There are different levels of investment, booth rent/suite/owner, each one has unique pros/cons. Research. Hope this helps.
Do silk presses go to their home charge a traveling fee plus your service fee

This video was very motivating for me. I’m in a place where building my brand and clientele is very hard. Not much support, so I know I need to branch out now. But I do have a question, how do you feel about spaces ? I’m wanting to rent out a space where I can do my clients hair, is it too early ? Should I wait . I have a pretty solid clientele at the moment to afford it, but I don’t know I’m just wanting second opinions.

To answer your question you have to do what works best for you, when I first started renting a space I made sure I had a month or 2 extra saved up to pay for my space just incase something happens for example if I get sick and can't work for a week or its just a slow week. Doing that and creating a Cushion helped so much especially because my booth rent for my first space was $800 a month and literally my first month my car had a tree fall on it in a very bad storm costing me $500 with my insurance to fix.

Well in my case I am about to have my second child this month, so around the end or middle of September I’ll start looking into opening my own studio. But thank you so much! Your so inspiring.
