i bought the 2018 model as my first motorcycle and i think it´s the perfect bike for new riders. very comfortable riding position, has enough power but won´t bite you in the ass if you accidentally open the throttle too much. not too sure about the vibrations though...maybe kawasaki managed to reduce them with the 2019 model but i know a couple of people who actually resold their 2018 model because their hands and/or feet got numb pretty quickly so i´d recommend a decent test ride before buying. very nice review as always though :)
absolom84 should be gripping the tank with your knees at all times you're arms should be relaxed at all times and feet relaxed also.. Hands relaxed with arms ready to take turns or make maneuvers as they come... If your wrists and feet are hurting on a 50 mile trip you are not in the proper riding position plain and simple.

Enjoyed your review. As an owner of a Ninja 650 and a daily commuter I can confirm that your review is spot on. I would recommend 3 clicks on the preload to improve the handling a bit and change the exhaust to a full system. Other than that the bike is perfect.
Been looking to upgrade from my CBR125R to possibly a CBR600 but I’m nervous about seat height issues as I’m just under 5’ 8” but after watching your review I think I’ve found my next bike! Thank you 👍
My Gpz500s is it's grandfather. I love it's classic lines and it still shifts if need be. Also it's got a proper seat and softish suspension which is something these modern Kawasaki don't have. I've owned a few and had to fit different springs and gel pads in seat's.
mark pulling Well, I’ve ridden one of these now. It’s kind of a small bike for my frame, but it’s a lot of fun for the money. It is surprisingly quick/fast but most notable was the light weight and how easy it is to flick it around. I’m not sure I’m a fan of the twin engine, but it sounds better in person than on videos, and it will make this bike move quite well. All things considered I’m more impressed with the 1000 (which I rode today as well) but if you are looking for an inexpensive fun bike, the Ninja 650 is great. I’ve watched your review on the 1000 as well, and I really appreciate you having reviewed both! The 1000 is an amazing bike, and the 650 is amazing in value.
Doug I recommend it man I live in the states and the prices on the ninja 650 is crazy cheap compared to its class mates however it’s not as sporty but still has good torque and and a top speed for me 124 I weigh 200 pounds (again this bike is the best bang for the buck by far for its power) also side note usally for this bike the insurance is gonna be a bit cheaper compared to bikes around the same displacement due to the fact less people own and drive it so less accidents (at least here in the states)
Marc Rosado I weigh 180 and can get it up to about 135ish.. I have a 2018 krt and it was by far the best choice ever as a first bike.. I'll be upgrading to a new 636 pretty soon but might keep the 650 for longer trips Edit: forgot to mention I have a full Yoshimura exhaust system with carbon muffler, that might effect the power slightly
it look so nice, i just wish they go back to 90's style fairing with 'full color' like all green etc without stripes. those 2 cyl are way better than i expected. try em you'll see
I had a 2017 model, great fun bike to ride.. although one of the most uncomfortable bikes I've ever riden.. more than an hour and a half in the saddle and it's agony on the bum and can be quite vibey at sustained motorway speeds.. If you want a light fun bike for small trips then it's great. Anything more than that it's a nightmare.. sold mine after 4 months
All my machines are large capacity machines BUT! After riding a few modern 500 and 650 machines, I'll admit they are better and more fun as road machines and most riders would benefit in trying these smaller capacity machines than large heavy high horse power bikes.
How is the ninja 650 not heavy? Both the er6n as well as the ninja 650 have a wet weight of around 211kg, meanwhile the cbr1000rr has around 206kg wet. If you ride these bikes in asia either in city traffic or even curvy mountains the weight of something like a er6n is quite noticeable.
@@charlyy1337 I said capacity not weight, weight is not normaly an issue while riding in motion it's only an issue when pushing into or out of parking spaces. Riding in town, easy answer dont ride a sports type machine, you need wide bars with good leverage its that simple.
64ft lb of torque from a parallel twin is pretty good cbr1000rr with 2 more cylinders has around 81ft lbs... the torque easily overcomes the weight i own a 2015 and it rocks..

Have you been on the Ninja 400? If so how would you compare? Currently own the 400 and have been staring at the 650 for a possible 2nd. Going to keep the 400 because its a blast to ride but would love 2 bikes in the garage. Want to stick with twins since an inline 4(as nice as they are) is pointless for my commuting
I'm in the same position Adam. Have an R3 and N400 but really want the N650. Trying to sell the R3, but I'm like you, definitely hanging on to the 400. It is a blast
I have a '19 ninja 650 abs it's absolutely lovely very torquey down low and a blast to ride. I would say that for a guy on the lighter side 160 lbs you should put the preload on the rear shock to the second notch
Hi, i just got out from the bike store and i spent 1 1/2 hrs looking all the bikes and this one is the one for me. I'm just almost 5'4 in height. And this bike is perfect for me.. When the bike standing straight, my foot are 1/3 on the ground and when i just slightly bend the bike on one side my one foot is flat to the ground love it.. Is a light bike, i know the gas is very little or no gas on the floor display but, i think still not heavy.. I push the bike back and fort still i can maneuver it fine..Also what i like is the exhaust pipe is hiding under the foot peg love it.. Good to see the display on this video love the looks is balance.. I also like the full pairing... I wish it as a little bit wide rear tire maybe 180 like the 2018 Honda cbr650f rear tire..Majority i Love the bike and i'ts on sale today July 5 2019 for $6.999 US..The guy said on approve credit no down around more or less $200 a month for 60 months.. With the camera on the left side of your helmet, do you find the wind tugging on the left side (wind resistance) when you ride or is the windscreen deflecting the wind enough around your body that it isn't noticeable?
Hi Daryl ,don't really notice it at legal speeds tbh ,but I've now mounted the camera on the front of my helmet in more recent videos which is better for the video footage thanks Mark
Hi Adam ,I've got a review on the cbr too if you haven't seen it already ,they are both great ,the Ninja is a twin with about 65 hp ,the cbr has 4 cylinders which give it a smoother feet but it has a bit more power , personally if your new to biking I'd go for the Ninja ,I think it's cheaper and has a bit more character ,it's very easy to ride with a nice low seat ,I really enjoyed my ride on it and I've ridden alot of bikes. For a 650cc engine this is a really slow bike... Very entry level. I own a 2014 model and there is something about the displacement or the compression ratio of the engine that makes it slow... even though it's advertised as a 650.
It's a v-twin not a 4 cylinder, that's the entire point of the bike, a comfortable commuter that has the power for highways easily. If you're looking for speed you'll never even use, you want the zx6r.
Ive heard it does get a bit buzzy at say 70 -80 mph but its much better than previous models with this type of twin like versys 650 or er6 all the best mark
Bought a brand new 2018 model and had to sell it after four months. The tingly, buzzy vibration put my hands to sleep. I LOVED the bike in every other way, tried several remedies but nothing worked. Shame.
I don't experience it at all, but I rarely ride as relaxed as this review. I'm far more confident riding in high RPMs with a lot of powerful engine breaking at my disposal, not to mention the engine has a power spike between 7k and 9k RPM. Staying around 7000 RPM is a very fun time. You can do a comfortable 100 km/h in third gear and still get good fuel economy (~70 MPG). At lower RPM the engine is certainly more tractor-like in its vibrations, it really depends how you approach the ride. I've ridden 4000 miles on the bike this year.
For those who have one of these newer 650s, how is the buzz through the steering and foot pegs? Would I be able to be at 70 to 80mph comfortably for about an hour on the interstate or highway? I'm debating on getting this or the Honda CTX700. Thanks
Splash the extra £ and get a 650. There’s no point limiting yourself to a less powerful 400. But as it’s your first bike I highly recommend checking your insurance quote first on each bike as there could be a massive difference in each one.
Hi conner ,no its about right ,you just want to make sure your not labouring the engine ,twin engines like a slightly lower gear at low speeds otherwise they chug and vibrate a bit ,most inline 4 engines can smoothly take 6th gear at 30 mph all the best mark

i bought the 2018 model as my first motorcycle and i think it´s the perfect bike for new riders. very comfortable riding position, has enough power but won´t bite you in the ass if you accidentally open the throttle too much. not too sure about the vibrations though...maybe kawasaki managed to reduce them with the 2019 model but i know a couple of people who actually resold their 2018 model because their hands and/or feet got numb pretty quickly so i´d recommend a decent test ride before buying.
very nice review as always though :)
nice comment thanks MP :)
absolom84 should be gripping the tank with your knees at all times you're arms should be relaxed at all times and feet relaxed also.. Hands relaxed with arms ready to take turns or make maneuvers as they come... If your wrists and feet are hurting on a 50 mile trip you are not in the proper riding position plain and simple.
Hi Mark, beautiful bike, good review, Thanks
Farings and the tank look cool! Looks good in the KRT theme too!
Well rounded review as Sir! Been following your other reviews, all of them informative and to the point. Well done! You have a new subscriber .
Take care.
Really good review! Now im pretty sure what i want. This bike has a little bit from sport, from tutorial also. Price is amazing also.
Saying that it’s a good looking bike and I like that colour ,, very nice 👍
Great video as always Mark, keep em coming!
Thanks Aaron 😊
They are a great little bike ,my sister owns one and loves it . I like the orange colour . I was close to buying one myself but found it to cramped for us 2 up .
Hi I think these type of bikes are great , because they are so much fun and very affordable ,nice change in a world of £15k plus bikes all the best mark
Enjoyed your review. As an owner of a Ninja 650 and a daily commuter I can confirm that your review is spot on.
I would recommend 3 clicks on the preload to improve the handling a bit and change the exhaust to a full system. Other than that the bike is perfect.
Thanks ritesh great bike ,I'm looking forward to reviewing the new 2020 model when it comes out
Looks fantastic 👍 keep it up Mark 👍
Been looking to upgrade from my CBR125R to possibly a CBR600 but I’m nervous about seat height issues as I’m just under 5’ 8” but after watching your review I think I’ve found my next bike! Thank you 👍
Great choice with the Ninja 650 the new model is due out any day now cheer's mark
I'll be getting mine on monday!! after watching this, can't wait to ride mine
Nice one ben. Great choice. Mark
Well did you get the bike? If so are you happy with it.
My Gpz500s is it's grandfather. I love it's classic lines and it still shifts if need be. Also it's got a proper seat and softish suspension which is something these modern Kawasaki don't have.
I've owned a few and had to fit different springs and gel pads in seat's.
Thanks for the review on this Mark. I think I’ve decided on the Ninja 650 ABS, and you’ve helped.
Thanks. Great choice 👍
mark pulling Well, I’ve ridden one of these now. The 1000 is an amazing bike, and the 650 is amazing in value.
loved my 2014 ninja 650 till I got ran over two years ago. now im ready and healed to buy another motorcycle maybe another 650
Nice one Doug :). I love the Ninja 650. All the best mark
I have a 2018
krt and it was by far the best choice ever as a first bike.. I'll be upgrading to a new 636 pretty soon but might keep the 650 for longer trips
Edit: forgot to mention I have a full Yoshimura exhaust system with carbon muffler, that might effect the power slightly
Good training bike, comfortable, sporty design, smooth engine and gear shift.
Indeed a motorcycle to enjoy all day. Mine are 2012, still my best daily commuting choice. Good video🙏
it look so nice, i just wish they go back to 90's style fairing with 'full color' like all green etc without stripes. those 2 cyl are way better than i expected. try em you'll see
I had a 2017 model, great fun bike to ride.. although one of the most uncomfortable bikes I've ever riden.. more than an hour and a half in the saddle and it's agony on the bum and can be quite vibey at sustained motorway speeds.. If you want a light fun bike for small trips then it's great.
Anything more than that it's a nightmare.. sold mine after 4 months
Exactly my experience. See above. Sure looked good though.
Just bought one and take delivery next week... can’t wait
Bet you can't Andrew ! Great choice where did you buy it from ?
Thanks again Mark. Great review. The bike is very impressive.......Sal : )
Great review buddy, well done.
Thanks Lucas this bike has proven to be very popular !!
Fantastic review, mate! Very enjoyable to watch! 😉
Great thanks :)
Looking this weekend at some model 650 Ninja cant wait
@@charlyy1337 Ninja 650 have 193kg wet not 211 kg.
john rocker this is very true!
64ft lb of torque from a parallel twin is pretty good cbr1000rr with 2 more cylinders has around 81ft lbs... the torque easily overcomes the weight i own a 2015 and it rocks..
Hi mark, great vlog, bought my 650 from Bournemouth Kawasaki today! My first bike! 😃
Great stuff John ,good choice of bike , Bournemouth Kawasaki are great aren't they :)
mark pulling They’re great, Pete was really friendly and welcoming, made buying it very straight forward. Can’t wait to ride it now
@@johnblower7232 yes I got my 636 from them recently ,I get on really well with Pete and Ross :)
Nice review
Nice and clear rewiew, good voice and mic. I want more! SUBD👍
Lovely thanks , should have a new vid posted in about a week All the best mark
Love this bike 😍 and all you’re reviews nothing is left out in them. Any chance of doing a review of a Honda NC750 DCT version soon ?
I'll add it to the list thanks Jane
Great video Sir. Would love one of these bikes. Kawasaki Ninja 400 and 650 are winners.
Thanks shawn , i especially loved the 650 :)
I've got the KRT '18 model but man loving this orange colourway
I'm 39 yr old and I've just started Riding a bike.. I've stil not actually bought my own bike yet as I didn't know which bike I wanted but I now know I want the KAWASAKI...
Some people where saying it's 2 big an Engine but I always trust my Gut as I know how I will use my bike... I really enjoyed your video as you Delivered the bike's assets really well.... Nice on and you've got a New Subscriber 😎👏👏
Thanks Ryan ,you should be fine on the 650 ,it's easy to ride ,not to big ,and perfect power for a newcomer ,good luck with direct access if your in the UK all the best mark

Thanks for your time explaining everything in this vid. Would this bike be a good beginning bike 😀
Hi yes it would ,its easy to ride , fun, nice but not too much power and a nice low seat MP
mark pulling thank you for your fast response 😃
I bought one last week same color with ABS and its my first bike! Think ill have it for at least a year.
Great choice :)
Went to a Kawasaki dealership to look at Vulcan s but came out in love with the Ninja 650. As im 180cm and 100kg i just assumed a sporty bike like the ninja would feel cramped and uncomfortable for me and my hobby grade beer belly but it felt fantastic to sit on! almost forgot about the Vulcan S:p
Bought mine a couple weeks I love it
Mine is black
I can't make my mind up if I want a CFmoto 650MT or a Ninja 650. So today Im testing the Ninja.
Great bike ....let me know what you think :)
@@markpulling12 The CFmoto really surprised me. So close to a Versys how it rides. Small details make de Kawasaki's feel a bit more premium. But then they are 1400 euro's more expensive in the NL.
@@omega_profile1 yes I reviewed the cfmoto bikes ...I really liked them :)
I love my 2017 ninja 650. Good power. Reliable. Comfortable. Cheap on gas and insurance. If you want to just enjoy riding a motorcycle, this is an excellent bike. Looks great too!
Thanks for the comment :)
do you know any aggressive looking motorcycles for beginners? I love the aggressive position on bikes but all beginner bikes are so upright. Any suggestions?
i’m 5’7” too so yeah but what about the upright poster compared to the faster bikes
Pity you ha ent got another camera to show the clocks better especially with the latest LCD coloured displays they use on bigger bikes cheers Shane UK
Hi Adam no sorry I haven't ridden the 400 ,but I'm sure it's similar to ride as the 650 apart from about 20 + hp all the best mark
I'm in the same position Adam. Have an R3 and N400 but really want the N650. Trying to sell the R3, but I'm like you, definitely hanging on to the 400. It is a blast
@@vtecninja6363 Just upgrade to something with an inline 4 cylinder. Ninja 650 seems to close to the ninja 400 to justify owning both.
@@markwalker6692 Thanks and I agree. I ended up buying a 2019 ZX6R. I love it!!
@@vtecninja6363 that's awesome man. Have fun!
I have a '19 ninja 650 abs it's absolutely lovely very torquey down low and a blast to ride. I would say that for a guy on the lighter side 160 lbs you should put the preload on the rear shock to the second notch
Joe Gardner what about for the heavier guy I’m 264 lbs u think will be ok ???
I'm about to buy a stock 2013 ninja 650 for $4,000 that has 1.8k miles on the stock motor is this a good deal? This will also be my first bike.
Nice review, this bike is the one I am thinking of buying as my first bike, (Once I have my full licence) in a couple of months 🤞
Great you can't go wrong with these :)
Nice review. More like this please
Thanks Barry ,I have a review on the new model too
Hi, i just got out from the bike store and i spent 1 1/2 hrs looking all the bikes and this one is the one for me. Thanks a lot for the review on this bike. :)
Great hope you enjoy your ninja All the best mark

You can build in another Defuser

With the camera on the left side of your helmet, do you find the wind tugging on the left side (wind resistance) when you ride or is the windscreen deflecting the wind enough around your body that it isn't noticeable?
Hi Daryl ,don't really notice it at legal speeds tbh ,but I've now mounted the camera on the front of my helmet in more recent videos which is better for the video footage thanks Mark
@@markpulling12 Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Would you recommend the 2020 model 650 , yamaha mt07, or the duke 790 with the power and electronics? What’s more fun? Regards
Hi Jacob out of those three I'd go duke 790 all the way just for pure fun factor :) all the best mark
Thank you for the reply it definitely answers what I thought. All the best!
Mark which one would be better as first big bike ( as everyday bike ) Ninja 650 or CBR 650r ?And If You had to pick one which one would You chose ?
Hi Adam ,I've got a review on the cbr too if you haven't seen it already ,they are both great ,the Ninja is a twin with about 65 hp ,the cbr has 4 cylinders which give it a smoother feet but it has a bit more power , personally if your new to biking I'd go for the Ninja ,I think it's cheaper and has a bit more character ,it's very easy to ride with a nice low seat ,I really enjoyed my ride on it and I've ridden alot of bikes. Good luck mark 👍
Didn't know that your that old mark been riding in the 80s no offence mate. Just shock you sound much younger to me

@@markpulling12 the only thing it does not have from ninjas 2020 2023 is the led lights and the tft screen along with ktrc. Anyway thanks! I am really considering this bike! its amazing
Is it possible if I want to change the handlebar lower than the original?
Hi ,ive havent seen that ,but no doubt if you google it ,im sure someone in the world has done it regards mark
Does it get buzzy through the handlebars and grips on the highway and higher speeds?
Ive heard it does get a bit buzzy at say 70 -80 mph but its much better than previous models with this type of twin like versys 650 or er6 all the best mark
Bought a brand new 2018 model and had to sell it after four months. The tingly, buzzy vibration put my hands to sleep. I LOVED the bike in every other way, tried several remedies but nothing worked. Shame.
hawkrider88 I’ve heard that similar sentiment. Hate to hear it, sweet looking bike!
@@stickmoto7688 Yea, great looking bike.
What is the best exhaust you recommend? To do a mod... AR Austin Racing... loud one
scorpion are nice and not too expensive
For those who have one of these newer 650s, how is the buzz through the steering and foot pegs? Would I be able to be at 70 to 80mph comfortably for about an hour on the interstate or highway? I'm debating on getting this or the Honda CTX700. Thanks
Find my comment mate it explains this
What should I get for my first bike? Ninja 400 or 650?
I’m in the same boat bro. I take my msf course next week. Super excited to get out and ride! I’m debating between 650 or 400
Splash the extra £ and get a 650. There’s no point limiting yourself to a less powerful 400. But as it’s your first bike I highly recommend checking your insurance quote first on each bike as there could be a massive difference in each one.
Very good review. Hadn't thought of this before. Would you say it would be too cramped for someone 6 ft? Thanks again.
Hi mark it would be a bit small for you but it would work ,maybe the versys 650 would be worth checking out too All the best mark
The colour is amazing
You forgot to mention the WIND SAIL license plate. Does it affect its performance? 🤔
haha lol
Is fourth gear going 30mph not considered high gear selection? Pardon my ignorance
Hi conner ,no its about right ,you just want to make sure your not labouring the engine ,twin engines like a slightly lower gear at low speeds otherwise they chug and vibrate a bit ,most inline 4 engines can smoothly take 6th gear at 30 mph all the best mark
So if you're taller than 6 ft the bike is too small for you?
It's going to be Abit cramped Andre, you could still ride it fine ,you might be better off with the taller versys 650 all the best mark
@@markpulling12 I read you can purchase with a higher seat.
This was my first bike. Perfect beginner

i wish they make it in a 4 cylinder and more horsepower! i had a ninja 650(2009) but its boring after 2 years....
Did you ride Ninja 400? Which is more fun to ride around on? Price doesn’t matter. Pardon if you have already answered this.
Hi yes I have a review on the 400
I preferred the extra punch of the 650 :)
mark pulling Thanks Mark..so you would say the 650 was more fun?😀
Great review Mark. 😊👍
I have been riding the KRT version for last two years and it's a fantastic machine for touring. I am getting a 2019 zx6r now, what you think about the upgrade?
Great upgrade choice ,I own a zx6r 2019 :)
Which one to pick as a first time rider , this one or the 400?
I'd go for the 650 it's still very easy to ride ,low seat and nice power good luck mark :)
i think the versys 650 is more upright better wind protection same great motor.
Yes, but is much heavier and have more seat height not being optimal for begginers and short people
