This episode shows you that dandadan can not only do romance, action, and comedy well, but also incredibly emotional and dramatic moments like these. ABSOLUTE CINEMA 🗣️🗣️🔥
peakpepeak
To each their own. Personally it didn’t do it for me. I need more then 5 minutes of screen time and a predictable tragic backstory to give a shit about a character
@MirinM8 that's fair, was just 2 episodes.
I'd say for the 2 episodes we knew the mother for, the mangaka (and science saru for their slightly different story telling) did extremely well
You dont need a whole arc to see that back story and feel bad. Its basic empathy @@MirinM8
Cheers for that
If you notice, the stars at her feet are actually street and city lights. She was dancing on a rooftop when she lept off the building and we see her life with her daughter flash before her eyes before you hear her impact with the ground. This anime will make you go through all emotions!
Dude, crazy catch I didn’t notice that at all
Just when I thought things couldn't get any sadder
@@ceejay2318 It was very clear in the manga she committed suicide. A bit vague in the anime, but clear when you catch it
if you notice hahaha, as if they didnt make it vague on purpose and nearly impossible to recognize. hey, at least everyone thinks she died from her wounds vs killing herself. those are the same thing and have the same emotional impact. still a 10/10 though.
@@raraanangfd dude, everything is clear when you catch it. and not a bit vague, because that has caused almost all non reader to think she died from her wounds, so murdered, vs killing herself. those just do not carry the same emotional weight.
When she was dancing in the stars she was on top of a building and danced off the building(I’m typing this and crying)
Yes. They do not want to show the jumping part since it's a sensitive thing in JPN
I did not realize. Thank you for the insight. This episode was so dark and emotional.
They did show her leap off the building in the Manga, just (obviously) not the impact
@@judeestiller6041well it is pretty implied since the setting behind begins to turn until she’s upside down along with the wind against her hair. The manga is just MUCH MORE OBVIOUS because she’s clearly jumped so far from the building completely upside down
@@judeestiller6041In the Manga they showed her dancing on top of a building then jumping off of it. But either way correct.
16:44 So to explain that. In the manga, she was on top of her apartment building which is what you saw in the anime her dancing in a a pool of water. It didn't show it here but after she was done dancing, her final move she jumped off her apartment building falling to her death. Kids are said to be more connected to spirit than adults are hence why Aira was able to see her. When Aria was little she was able to see the mom that jumped and called her mom.
they do sort of show her jumping off for like 0.2 seconds but yeah its pretty unclear
Thanks for the manga context explaining my interpretation of the scene and then adding the last bit - I figured her youth allowed her to be closer to the spirit world. Solid way to explain kids’ fears and seeing stuff in the dark and whatnot.
In case people are wondering, the mom was in debt to some thugs, but she couldn’t help but treat her daughter for her birthday by getting an expensive dress for her. Which is why they came and trashed her place and took her daughter.
Perfect example of show not tell
In the manga they also show more clearly that she was a prostitute owned by the thugs
@@twinslive. Ooof, I should’ve added that detail too.
@@twinslive. Bro wtf, that makes it even darker and more sad. I thought she was just in debt to loan sharks or something like that.
@@trots4940 we see her naked in a bed and money left for her, why wasnt it obvious?
*Flashback plays*
Them: "Oh fck, I can't cry in front of the boys... I have to hold it, I have to hold it" 😅
Everybody in my watch group folded. 😂
😂 that’s what RTTV do. Try their best to not cry by talking and joking in emotional scenes like that
@@Oakland510 Yeah, I found myself tempted to do the same, but everyone else was just dead silent watching, so I didn’t. Glad I just let the sequence wash over me instead.
@@Oakland510 Yeah it's why i stopped watching them. That and some of Rob's reactions haha YaBoyRoshi is better imo
@@BuffPomsky Same they're so passive like just by watch their facial expressions turned the mood down for me
They made it subtle in the anime. In the manga, she jumped off a building after her ballet dance. The kid is also implied to be dead already. Acro Silky and her daughter got reunited in the afterlife.
its funny that to me, i'm only noticing how subtle it is now that i'm watching reactions and reading comments, i didn't realize it looked vague for most ppl, to me it was tragically clear and beautifully portrayed. Now i have to ask my mom if she understood everything that happened when she watched it.
@@LauraVivian It was pretty clear, but you have to remember reactors don't always have the best focus because they have to react. Not saying it's fake, but they probably weren't as focused at times.
11:24 I don't think I've seen the squad on the edge of their seats like this since aot lmao
Ikr
Dandadan has everything, action, romance, comedy and tragedy. It shines in every aspect
It's like Steins;Gate.
Usually comedians are really good in drama roles because they both play on hitting your heart. This show reminds me of that as I haven’t been deeply moved by something this heavily in awhile
Honestly this ep was incredible. I've read the manga and it was good but the music, direction and animation of the anime is some of the best I've seen in years. It's elevated the manga to another level. Might just be one of the best anime of the decade.
Gfffgf
The way I cried was insane. Like the way they animated it made it feel so real
When Aira saw her as a child, the woman was dead already. It just is a trope in Anime and Manga (or maybe it is actual Japanese folklore, idk) that little children can see ghost and yokai and stuff. It is referenced in Noragami for example
Dandadan may have solidified itself as the goat for this year because of this episode.
the manga showed that she was dancing on top of a building, at the edge.
I was thinking the same… wish it was a lil more clear she fell off
@@Melzo200 unfortunately, suicide rate in Japan is no joke. At least they put a second in which you see where she is dancing (I ignored it the first time)
You've been saved from some tears, this episode doesn't show explicitely that when she fninished to dance, she was on a rooftop of a building.
That last jump, was her doing it over the edge, head first upside down
There were tears that run down my face but I did not cry.
I feel u bro, couldn't help it
I have never read the manga for this, so I was not prepared at all. All I've ever heard about this series was that it's really good, but I wasn't very convinced of that in the first 6 episodes. Sure it's entertaining, but I wanted something more. And this episode delivered that perfectly. The scene where the daughter gets kidnapped genuinely had my heart pounding, which rarely ever happens when I watch an anime, or any show for that matter. Whoever directed that flashback deserves a raise, that was amazing. The piano soundtrack was so beautiful, too. I can't wait to see more of this show now!!
The manga gives a bit more details on this flashback and the whereabouts of the daughter (although implicitly).
Just like the anime, the manga is breathtaking so I'd recommend.
The boys just holding the tears back with all their power
Gotta act tough you know 😢
they added so much more in the anime i wasn't expecting it I'M LITERALLY BAWLINGGGG sigh i'm so scared for the next arcs lol
nah seriously cuz I didn’t remember it being this graphic and depressing but it’s been awhile since I read early Dandadan
They didn't make some parts so explicit, but they added more dramatic parts and such wonderful scene construction, I thought that because I read the manga I wouldn't cry, but I cried even more than in the manga
For conformation that anime watchers miss on first watch to make it even more depressing. She lived alone with her daughter and wanted the best for her and saw the dress (possibly for ballet) maybe cause she never had the economy to strive for her dreams as a kid. She forced herself to work two diffrent jobs and not only that also work as a sex worker (The hotel putting money on the side was her getting paid after a night). She went trough all this effort to give her happiness aka the dress she gave her.
The dance with the sky glaring on the roof was the lead up to her ending it all, jumping off the roof doing what gave her the most happiness, in her final moments jumping off that roof. You guys should definitely go checkout some of these panels of the manga (I think for censory purpose they didn't clearly show her on the roof, but the is an amazing panel of her final moments jumping of that roof overlooking the scenary, its just truly amazing.
It's just amazing that they could do all this in one episode with the emotions.
It's also even more depressing when you realize that she couldn't pay her debts due to the love she gave into her daughter. She loved her daughter so much that she bought the dress and cake for her birthday, but ended up short on debts as a result...
In the manga, it shows that she reunited with her daughter implying that she also died.
Ngl this had me comepletely in tears.
The story telling, the cinematography, the story boarding, the emotions. Everything was an absolute sight to behold.
This episode was an absolute masterpiece.
Children are more likely to see the supernatural, especially at really young ages. They are still open minded enough to that kind of stuff.
Children, elders, cats, and dogs are the few things considered "sensitive" to the supernaturals in many asian cultures
11:57 I’m glad someone else noticed this. It’s odd that they gave Momo such a unique appearance, then gave many of the same traits to the daughter. Not only are the hair and eye colour the same, the eyebrow shape is too. Given that Aira seemed approximately the same as the daughter, Momo would be too. We don’t know about Momo’s parents, just that they were both gone already when she was young. The dress could tie to Momo’s love of clothes, and the dancing could explain her fighting with kicks. I know the daughter isn’t Momo, but it’s wild that they hypothetically could be if the author wanted.
Barely any words spoken in their story and it still just hurtsss. This episode was incredible.
Nah this shit had me bawling 😭😭😭
When Aira was able to touch Silky when she was just a little kid... I don't know for sure, but usually it's a trope, or it's said that things like ghosts are only able to be seen by animals or those who are still pure of heart. This usually means innocent children long before they really have any understanding of the world. I'm not a manga reader btw, but it's my speculation that since Aira was young enough at the time to not understand that her own mother was dead, she was also able to percieve the strong emotions of another mother who sought a child she lost.
Dandadan episode 7 completely blew my expectations out of the water... wow.
this episode was one of the most heart-wrenching things i have seen this year, honestly, it was tragically the most beautiful and artistic piece of media i ever watched. I don't think i would've change anything about it, every choice made was beautiful.
I was not prepared for this episode in the slightest. I cried way more than I thought I would and then cried again, watching y'alls reaction. It was so sad and tragic. I haven't read the manga, but I saw a comment about how that woman jumped off the roof after her dance, which made me go back and rewatch the scene. If you pay close attention, you can pick up that that's what happened. It looks like she's falling after her dance, then you hear a thud, so I think it works, but it's not explicitly shown.
bro i did not expect to tear up.. what a beautiful episode.
Her story made me teary-eyed! I wonder where her daughter is.
its implyed that she also died in manga unfortunately. mom met her in afterlife
@@okage325 ohhh i see! thanks for this
@@okage325it's actually fortunate she's dead and reunited with the mom. Imagine the kind of live she would have been living
Dead after a horrible life. It's very tragic
@@mugen4516 I'm actually afraid how she died
DAYUM! Dandadan came out with a swift emotional hook, it got me good
Wow just finished watching this epi just now and then you guys drop the vid. Perfect timing cause i rly wanted to see your impressions of this peak epi
The fact y'all stayed so quiet during the reaction already says more than enough
Action speak louder than words
Dan Da Dan, Look Back and Frieren is gonna wipe the floor at any award cermony the coming years.

Guys, you can cry don't worry, I sure did. Even tho I saw it in the manga. Still cried.
16:51 so guys, The mom died after she finish her dance. They had to censor it for the episode because Japan has a very high rate of suicides.
There is a picture of the city light below her she sees them one last time and she jumps of the building as she lept to finish of her ballet dance.
Aura can see ghosts because that’s just an innate born ability. Kids are also know to see spirits either good or evil.
This episode was absolutely incredible. I was stunned.
About Aira seeing Acro Silky as a child - it's a common concept that children are naturally more attuned to the spiritual world. Her having an encounter when she was young and losing the ability to see spirits as she grows up is kind of just par for the course, really.
From balls to bawling 😢
ITS THE DAMN SOUNDTRACK THAT GOT ME
The only reason homies didn't cry is because they were all together and couldn't cry next to eachother.
I had an idea of what to expect from what i heard around the internet but i still bawled my eyes out on the first watch 🙃
Several moments throughout the episode had me tearing up man 😭
Best single episode of the year in any media format for me. Incredible.
I cried so hard I almost threw up ❤ glad yall like it LOL
Thanks a lot for your great reaction😊....this ep insane😭😭😭...some female animators created it, 'Kana Ito' also producted JJK 41ep(Sukuna vs Mahoraga?)...the last Aira hug scene be drawn by her. it is awsome !
i hoping next.
I sat at my screen as locked in as any other fight scene I’ve seen in anime. That episode was incredible
Bro missed a Banger of an Episode but Puerto Rico is Lit, so I understand 😂
Manly tears were shed in this episode.
aaaaah bro I'm scared to watch this video lmao I damn near bawled my eyes out when I watched this episode, idk if I'm ready for it again 😭
Might be anime episode of the year tbh
i felt so bad for silky. no mother should ever go through what she went through.
Dan Da Dan officially made it to my top 10 animes list, this episode made this show way better. About the Momo look alike, I thought that too since she said her parents died, but I have been told by manga readers that the manga confirms that her child died.
yu u mans understood how i felt i am deffo following ur channel. Keep doing grt vids
detail:aira actually could see the spirit when she Was a Little child.that ball just awakened her memories and ability.
I told you guys! Let dandadan cook, as a manga reader i'm sooo hyped for the future of this anime!
this episode had no business making me cry I thought this was a silly show about balls??
My fav episode BY FAR. The mothers story was tragic.
dandadan literally has everything lmfao. perfect ep.
All I do is cry on this damn app
Thant was the chapter I was looking forward to in anime I’m manga reader and when I read that chapter in the manga it gave me goosebumps and made my skin crawl🤯🥲
Man this episode literally pulled some strings 😢
I’ve read the manga twice and knew what was coming but still cried my eyes, absolutely incredible from science saru
She was dead when Aira confused her with her own mom. As others point out, She leaped off the building when she danced on the water. In the manga is pretty obvious, but here there are many tells, the most telling imo the THUMP when the screen goes dark.(Hitting the floor)
Just finished watching it, I'm a sobbing mess
I just finished watching this episode and I cried so much 😭 so cruel
This episode was so beautiful
Manga reader here: The daughter isn't Momo, Sad thing is that when she gets to the after life she meets her daughter. The child didn't survive that night and had been waiting for her mother's spirit this whole time.
8:35 solid prediction
Good lord was i not prepared for this
this one demon backstory was better than any back story in demon slayer 😂
Yeah this one got me… not even ashamed to admit it.
LETS GOOOOOO 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nobody warned me, I'm genuinely inconsolable, I need to watch some other people feel what I felt watching this, best anime of all time
i literally finished watching the episode
opened youtube
and i see this
nah this is some peak timing
ALSO
can you guys make an anime opening tier list eventually? im pretty sure you did one for the aot openings or something similar
but it would be cool if you did it for all the shows you've watched so far (watch and then rate like you did with the aot one)
Alr, have a nice day
So sad that Cannon missed this masterpiece of an ep hope he watches it 😔
The daughter reminded me of Aiko Tanaka and now my hearts hurts even more 😢
So for clarification, Dandadan deals more with spirits and yokai, which are distinctly different than demons (at least, how the west portrays demons). Spirits and yokai are more tragic in nature, versus demons traditionally being more sinister. Spirits are more akin to ghosts while yokai are more akin to concepts held together by emotion.
bro laughing 7:54
Manga reader 😂
😂😂
Anime Episode of the Year
damn its hurts 😢, not ready for this
havent seen anything this good since aot
Other countries may think of Japan as a rich country, but that's only the pretty part at the top.
Many people living in Japan are cold and poor, and manage to survive every day through hard labor.
The mother and daughter who met such a tragic end are not just characters in the story.
I can recommend that you come to Japan for sightseeing, but I do not recommend that you live and work in Japan.
250k subs and still just one blue yeti as a mic is insane
Yeah I can't really hear their voices unlike other reactor channel
Still they’re more clear to hear than RTTV
10/10 episode 🗣️
Damn you Ninja's! stop cutting unions in my damn room!
Please watch "I want to eat your pancreas" if you haven't already. Very good watch.
Turbo granny's voice is Luffy's voice
fun ep
nice reaction
can't wait next ep
In between scenes of his smiling life with his daughter, the casual depictions of money and timers measuring time represent prostitutes.
I was heartbroken by that gap.
Science saru truly was the only right choice for this show. The passion and time put into this show is stunning and this is why i begged the boys to watch it. This is all a taste of what dandadan is all about, I'm soooo hyped for some of the actual best arcs. Next one is a bit meh tho. Masterpiece of an episode tho!
Spoiler for daughter (i think) be advised
In the manga silky sees her daughter still as a child in the afterlife so I IN MY OPINION she was trafficked and died very young still a child to see her in the afterlife as a child
After I found out they censored a lot of stuff in the animé. It's just even sadder
Apparently she was a s*x worker to get enough money and when she was dancing she was on a building.... Then jumped off😢
She actually goes on the roof and jumps
10/10 Episode.
She was working as a prostitute, that’s why she wakes up with money beside her bead at the beginning and she got involved with the Yakuza that took her daughter away to prostitue her. Japan doesn’t condone sui*ide, so they cut off the part where she dances off the building. That sound we heard is her body touching the ground. I read all the manga and I knew this episode was a ruff one.
