Same! Went to see Tenacious D at Telluride Bluegrass and got turned on by great chance 🦄🐍🦄🐍 I'm ready to tour if I ever get some $$$ Love these 3 especially 💛
Around the 22-23 minute mark Billy refers to a concert as being a "paid rehearsal", and then smiles that little knowing smile of his that we all know so well now. 🤣
It's now 2023, I'm set to see Strings in Detroit this summer. I'll say with confidence He's one of the best singer/ songwriters on this planet. History in the making
there are plenty of sets out there without any talking, personally i love things like this where you get to learn about them as people AND listen to their music
Discover bluegrass back in 1975. Got the privilege to see John Hartford, Earl Scruggs and so many others. I am definitely a sicophant of BS. Mourn the loss of Don Julian. He was the greatest mandolin player I ever saw! Ass, gas and grass forever!
Billy Springs is simply a young star born to perform magic music...a great artist who is humble enough to put his step dad in the forefront on a pedestal. Hat off son
Found Billy strings about 3 months ago and I strongly believe that he is up there with the best guitarists and song writers. A true legend in front of your eyes and it's music for the sole, fined his songs people and listen to them you are missing out if you don't.
That's a whole lotta talent on that stage. I'm always impressed with Billy's ease with an audience and, in addition to his mad music skills, he has that killer smile. What a combo!
Billy strings has come a long way this was 2015 2019 now his concerts really selling his band now is awesome , last week played outside festival in Florida packed . He has 2:/3 albums he’s made it i think Billy is awesome , has worked hard done great high energy! Billy has written some really good songs too. I’m a fan
Don't have the words to describe how special Billy and Don's musical gifts are... but WOW, they weave some magic. Killed Red Rocking Chair, and took Little Maggie on a cosmic ride.
I’m just learning bluegrass because I’m leaving California for Kansas and want to be able to jam in rural Kansas and fell on these two. I like Billy’s albums and band but I really like this album. Hope to find musicians in kansas
I'm from Ionia, MI., Billy's home town and I'd say I'm from Traverse City too..haahaa. Billy is an extremely talented young man who will go far... Charlie Hunn, Ted Nugent's former guitarist/singer is from Ionia also.
As gifted and amazing as Billy is, I really think, after watching about 25-30 videos, the mix of maturity & savvy with the free spirit,-60's & 70's influence of Don Julin, really helped give Billy the structure, the opportunities & some maturity to become a little more proficient at being in the public arena and playing for a wider audience. Would he be as successful as he is now, without Julin?? Sure, eventually, but Mr. Julin taught him the ropes & gave him driving lessons & a drivers license on the road to his current public presence & success.
A new king has been born..I want to say billy reminds me of johnny the great cash but playing the best of bluegrass, because the lyrics and his soul come straight through....he is a beautiful man..along with don who is a master, and dont forget that bass..they're fingers are so fast they're wives must be coming through they're pretty pink panties...thats a track title for you boys...loving it, loving u guys from scotland
I had a friend who recommended bluegrass to me in my aviation maintenance class, never listened to him. I think it's definitely going to stick with me for quite some time.
All are wonderful musicians, with an extreme amount of energy. I'm a big fan of Martin guitars, I even own a few but the guitar Billy plays is the best sounding guitar I think I've ever heard. Really enjoy y'alls music, hope to see you live some day.
Philstafford 1...have you heard the Preston Thompson guitars Billy has been playing for the last while? Thompson is a luthier out of Sisters, Oregon, I believe and he builds some sweet sounding flat tops too. I had never heard of his guitars until I saw Billy using one and I was blown away by the tone. Though I think Billy Strings could probably make a $100 guitar sound great. The young man is amazing.
Best since Ricky Nelson. And better music, friends, and magnetism. Best to you Billy and Friends. (First heard him LAST NIGHT! on a video about perf at a Louiseville BG festival).
Stanley brothers rule! I’m usually not a fan of something that doesn’t have a Stanley style banjo but this trio is awesome!!!!! Wish I could jam with these boys and add some Ralph flavor and see how it sounds
Billy, you're from Ionia Michigan???? Holyshit oh, and you owe boys are talking about Traverse City Shih time from GR anyway you guys kill it I thought you were from Tennessee or Kentucky or something like that, wrong.
Don is an amazing player and I enjoyed seeing that duo for a handful of years, but he was to straight ahead and old school for billy. You could tell towards the end that Billy wanted to jam and expand the songs but Don wanted to wear a suit and tie and tie and play coffee houses. Once Billy found Billy Failing Don’s time playing with billy was pretty much over. He went through a handful of mandolin players and bassist over a 2-3 year period before he found his current lineup. It’s been an amazing journey following billy over the last 10 years or so
@@wsmfp_4207 Thanks for the thoughtful response. I wish I had hopped on the Billy train as early as you. I've seen him three times since Halloween, and I'm going again on the 29th. Trying to make up for lost time!
what it is is bringing back real music, not the fake crap like we have to choose from now- auto tuners and computers- sorry but that is not music. Billy and the boys are MUSIC!
Billy almost exploded @ little Maggie (which obviously was planned as the last song; no encore) & 10 seconds after that the guy asks for the next song! :o I just don't get it. How can he be in such a position? Total lack occupation... Does any of you know/like Led Zeppelin? - And have you heard of that band called the Beatles? Oh dear
I wanna see a guitar battle between Billy Strings and Dave Mustaine... No distortion. Dave is my dude BUT can you beat him?? I would love yall doin solos like battle rap but with feelin with guitars. They left the feelin out of music long ago but people like you tryin to give the feeling back...just kiillll all of it. BeWare of MEGADETH LOL... Truthfully you and Dave solos would be great... These reactors would be floored Real Sh!÷ Dave is A1 Lets see what u pickin up on him... Look im just trying to START SHIT. IN REALITY THO... I’ve been on a Billy Strings voyage since the past few weeks ever since discovering the video of him playing an a sofa. OMFG, what a massive talent.
Me too. This last couple weeks I’ve seen everything. I really like his work with don.
Check out meet me at the creek at the Grass Roots venue. It’s insane

Billy & Don are amazing…but glad an audience member suggested giving Kevin some more credit/ speaking time
WOW Billy really looks good in a suit !!!!!
Doc Watson was probably my favorite musician. Glad to see Billy Strings following his lead.

Billy Strings stands with any player in bluegrass history for my money. When he solos , it is akin to a machine gun going off.
We're like having a conversation. We're listening to each other. WOW! What an awesome way to put it.
Would of never heard of Don Julin without Billy, what a great soul
Don was holding billy back, he had to move on, and that’s why you see what you now see , a legend
Some of the best young talent I have heard. Bluegrass future is in good hands.
Yea it is like a conversation thank you Billy .
He is really picking up steam now.

Man....gotta say it. Sure would have liked to hear a lot more playing....
He has so much content as it is. Hearing him in the beginning, explaining his influences and journey to that point is super interesting I think.
Yep,Traverse City

How can Don be so good at bluegrass when he practically disavows it?
The best , but there is Doc & Merle
Any body knows, what is the second song title?
Billy, you're from Ionia Michigan???? Holyshit oh, and you owe boys are talking about Traverse City Shih time from GR anyway you guys kill it I thought you were from Tennessee or Kentucky or something like that, wrong.
Can I give any advice to the host of the show?
Man this guy won't shut up and let them play.
How does Don stack up against Jarrod Walker, and was he ever given an opportunity to play with Billy's current lineup?
I can’t answer that question but in my opinion Jarrod is one of the best mandolin players I’ve ever heard !
Don is an amazing player and I enjoyed seeing that duo for a handful of years, but he was to straight ahead and old school for billy. The seagull guitar brand from Nova Scotia is a great sounding piece.
Who knew the bass player would be so chatty? 😂 He’s great, tho!

OK kids, take note on what not to do to your ears.He has to live with it the rest of his life.....
😳
Forget the neckties and jackets fellas. That ain't you.
Artists can change their attire or appearance whenever they want. Look at the popularity David Bowie amassed just by changing characters.
OK.... it's not about u. Keep the intro short

OBVIOUSLY Strings would DECIMATE him. Are you kidding? Billy Strings is a whole other entity when it comes to guitars than anyone alive today lol
Check out billy and tommy Emanuel, it’s on UA-cam somewhere

Billy sort of looks like a super young Brad Pitt in this in a way. lol

That DJ is long winded.
The interviewer is so irritating, that it makes the video disjointed
Be great if we could hear the music instead of this guy running his mouth

This guy talks too much. Geezzz let the play already!
The guy talks to much

Way too much chatter and not enough music.
