i love this interview, i come across it from time to time, i love mick brown, mega fan of hes and i love the story. but cant help but smile when i see kevin green, so so sad to think hes gone so young! RIP kev!

good interview matt for the first time I like the way you come across . I too love fishing for what it is and not for size and weight. When I go fishing its like a switch for me I forget all my problems and stresses from life and just enjoy the peace and tranquil surroundings .
I totally agree with him on the catching size of fish, I fish, its nice to catch big ones but the smaller fish are great to catch as well. I like fishing in rivers where the smaller fish are. its boring to just setup and sit there and fish for huge carp.
I went fishing for the first time in 6 years, coarse fishing in England that is, last Tuesday and all i caught were two Roach after 4 hours and the biggest one was probably about 6oz but i had a good day out and enjoyed it. Thats all that matters to me and thats pretty much what Matt is saying i think. If you're fishing and having a nice day out then great.
Loved Kevs enthusiasm, so sad he isn't around and taken away so young. Think it's the variety which keeps the enthusiasm. More people give up who are carp and "target" obsessed than any other, they lose all the pleasure. Totally agree with your take on fishing now. Unfortunately people think you have to catch monsters before you have any credibility. In reality you were the same person the day before you did it. Much better to do your own thing and set your own standards.
Well said Matt. I go fishing because I love it and it gets me away from the stress of work. What I find is the Time Bandits who don’t work are bound to catch the biggest fish because they are there the whole time
Funny he talks at length about how the size of fish are no longer important to him, and then ends off by saying he wants an 8lbs chub, 40lb Pike etc. None the less I totally understand what he means, top feller, top bloke!

I have that reel pictures in the foreground. It got stuck in the rear drag (baitrunner) setting. Flicking the switch has no effect and it's practically useless now. TF gear customer services won't repair it or replace it. Sort it out Matt! ;)
I'm a huge fan of matt hayes but find it bait confusing when at the start he's saying everyone's to hung up on size etc then towards the end saying he would like to catch a 8lb chub and 40lb pike

A trick: watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies recently.
