Speaking as someone coming from a brit/loyalist background, its nothing short of a disgrace what was done to the natives here in Ireland. Utterly shameful.
Thanks Paul.

The original inhabitants of Northern Ireland were the cruthin (the ancient Britons).
You’d do well to remember that before you start calling people foreigners.
I was totally zoned in on this story there , picturing the events in my head . Belter James keep it up
Good to see how far you've come james always brilliant guests. Definitely the best podcast on UA-cam 👏 this was fascinating to listen to, storys of the troubles/IRA etc has always had my interest. My grandma was a Catholic from Cork until she moved her in the uk many years ago
I am a loyalist but it's really hard to dislike this guy. Proper Man. Loyal and Tough.

I love it...where ya live? We could move mountains together you an I.
David Irvine said the same of Óglach Bobby Sands R.I.P.
@@sammillar3881 why do you still have so much bitterness in your heart? Among other groups, what did middle class Catholics ever do to you personally? Most likely nothing, it’s just an oul ideological, irrational, unfounded hatred you have for them.
Love how James just sits back no interruptions throughout the podcast!

Having been born in Belfast In The 1970s Into a Protestant family - but being raised and now living in South Africa 🇿🇦 this podcast has given me a real perspective on what the Catholic people of Northern Ireland really had to endure over that dark period. Sam Millar is a brilliant story teller and an amazing man. Thanks again for another great podcast James - keep them coming.

@@Ladumasports pleasure mate!! That's a murder of British citizens
My grandfather was killed in McGurks bar and the family have and still are fighting for the truth. The ripple effect was to consolidate the families rage against the British Government. I grew up in the 70's was 13 during the hunger strikes, I laugh at soldiers having done a "tour" in NI which was 6mths and went home to a "normal" life and had PTSD, I say THIS WAS MY WHOLE CHILDHOOD
I’m so sorry for your loss. I believe Mi5 will never let any of their secrets of atrocities in all their colonies come to light.

Never thought I'd see someone gatekeep trauma
I just paused the video and reflected on my short time, my "snapshot" in an American jail & then acknowledged he did 8 years in the various circles of hell & you can tell from how clear and concise and genuine he is that the British tried they're hardest to break this lad and he remains intact, my dad was a staunch republican, born in Ireland but spent his adult life in the USA and he would tell me about people like Bobby Sands and watching this man's recollection of events it honestly gave me chills, if you can't respect this man's strength, determination and courage (even if you firmly disagree with his stance) then there is something missing in your human foundation and you should do some soul searching, this man is the personification of human determination and the will to go on, I hope I can have 1/1000th his strength and fortitude in my life and the struggles and trials and tribulations that I will inevitably face
Thank you chara for the kind words. Stay strong.

Another amazing interview James! Simply one of the best interviews I have seen… You do what a lot of interviewers don’t do. You let them talk. I have noticed that you get a lot from people you interview with minimal questions. It’s a gift, people obviously feel at ease with you brother!

Fantastic. Best podcast I've ever listened to. What a story. Gripped for the full 2 hours. What a movie this is going to make.
So here’s a thing, having just returned from my first tour of Belfast and all the tourist spots of the political divide ( on both sides ) and without disclosing my back ground or beliefs as it would offer no purpose to my comment…..I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, this interview and testimony by Sam Millar is the single most informative and in my opinion, honest, piece I have ever heard concerning the troubles by someone involved. It’s fearless, brave, heartbreaking and mind blowing all rolled into one. Quite stunning. Sam, I fully tip my hat to you for your bravery and courage in the face of such dire consequences and I salute you as an inspiration.Your honesty has removed many of the so called truths I have carried on this subject which have been constantly peddled by media and other outlets that have been pushed over the years. May you and your testimony continue to reach people and educate new generations in the hope that more of us will choose the pen over the sword.God bless you.
Thank you, pal. Very much appreciated.

Ireland should be Ireland end of I served in the British Army I have always believed Ireland should be one Nation
@jock kelso brits the fuck out,the imperialists USED ulster loyalists in ww1 as gun fodder for German machine guns, that's your crown for you tiocfaidh ar la 🇮🇪
Your right mate, I’m from Dublin and I get on with English or British people especially when we’re away it’s a shame it had to be that way and it’s still fresh in a lot of peoples minds as an Irish person I fully support Irish unity of course but that doesn’t mean I hate British people I get on great and love them as people but the British government that’s different story
Couldn't agree more. Also Korea should be one country, England, Wales and Scotland are one island why aren't they one country????? Why is North American one country like back in 1400 before Columbus showed up??? Why isn't Africa one country ?? It's an island too. And why don't those Celts invaders go back to where they came from?
IRELAND IS CATHOLIC
Well said Ireland needs to be free but its going to be a rocky road to get there hopefully it won't cost anymore lives been destroyed here's to a unified peaceful Ireland
I'm from a staunch loyalist area in Belfast and I have to say this man's story is incredible and James done a great job letting the convo flow, fair play Sam.👍🏻
Thanks Mark.
Who are you "loyal" too ?
Murdering bastard. End of story
@@bigc48 Who's a "murdering bastard?" and what is the story that is ended?
@@paddymuppy a loyalist is someone who is loyal to the crown, ie the British government and would be a protestant and would describe themselves as British.

Superb James! Your best yet. I listened to it last night and I am still thinking about it today. I was absolutely enthralled for 2 hours. What an interview, what a story, what an adventure, what humility and finally what understanding. The line about Unionists in a UI: "I would be one of the first to go and fight for them if I thought they were not being treat equally," shreds the bitter sectarian BS and exposes the reality of who really benefits from its continuance.

I’m English /British, I’ve great grandparents from Ireland all catholic, yet my family are not religious. I grew up in the 70s 80s, hating the IRA, but over the years I’ve realised that if I was Irish catholic I would’ve chose the same path as Sam millar. The oppressed have a much better cause to fight for the rights of equality. Respect to any person and people fighting for change against the system, I see things so different now, and during this plandemic I realise I/we/ all of us together cannot trust the government, the BBC,the media suppression, podcasts like this give a real uncensored view of all things that the average person is oblivious too. Good luck Sam and best wishes.
I’ve thought this recently, and it’s so sad that someone’s life and viewpoint can be completely different based on being born only a few streets away from someone else
spot on mate respect to you
Boy George was an English guy and his family was in the ra! True bill
Respect to you mate and it's great now that the internet provides people with instant uncensored news that the government can't control...don't forget it was only in the 90s that the British government were censoring Irish republican political leaders and getting actors to dub over their voices to gag their influence...
You're NOT English, then.
