    This is why I love to eat hors d'oeuvres, but hate prepping them. I basically if go out of my way to make a couple hors d'oeuvres for you, you know I love you. Even still, if I do end up making them I usually try and figure out a way to make them with something that I already keep stocked like kimchi like your team was doing, extraneous herbs and veg, bulk it out with some sort of starch on hand, then add a couple "special" items like Homemade Crab butter or Crab Roe (I go crabbing for Blue Crabs between mid-March and late-November when they're in season) so that it still feels special.
