Loved this interview! I’ve got Kate’s book and have read it a couple of times. Watched a lot of her interviews and this is one of the best! I’m going on about a year of doing this and my thyroid and digestion are much better. I’m 63 so I have a lot of healing to do after all the “dieting mentality “. Would love to see more with Kate!
This was such an excellent interview with Kate… Thankyou to the host for mirroring so many of the questions I have a few months in to this way of eating/living (ie: balancing fat after being in the keto mindset, digestion, when does weight loss come, etc) 👏👏👏
I can definitely notice the difference eating fruits and sugar after being low carb and carnivore on my stress and energy. I was so hyper but in a stressed anxious way on carnivore and couldn't sleep more than 7 hours. Now i almost feel depressed with adding maybe 50g of carbs but i think this is just how not feeling anxious feels lol. Ive never had high blood sugars and tend to get low blood sugar and reactive hypoglycemia easily.
Do not fear carbs. They are good for you. Mood disorders and depression are more often than not related to gut health. Saturated fats and easily digested carbs (ie few starchy carbs and few vegetables) allow for cleansing the gut. You should do that and see how you feel.
@@hyperTorless thank you. That is kind of what I am leaning towards now and cutting down on meat some. Still get my protein in but not overdoing it. I struggle to maintain my bloodsugar overnight with adding starches or fruits sk would like to solve that.
Thank you for this great interview, very interesting. Loved all the questions and the way Kate explained it. What is the marshmallow recipe? I would like to try and make it.
@Bubble, it made me weaker and weaker. After 7 months, I had to stop. My thyroid is now damaged, but I can’t blame low carb for sure, because my doctor never ran tests on it, so I don’t know what it was like before, but after 7 months low carb, I ran my own blood work and found out I have early stages of Hashimotos. Low carb isn’t good for thyroid health according to many in this space.
@@PeaceIsYeshua it made my hypothyroidism worse until I realized I wasn’t eating enough. I had to up my fats and once I began eating enough my hypothyroidism that I had for years finally went away way. Again, I’m the type of person who doesn’t care what people eat as long as they’re healthy and thriving.
@@BubbleBuster Oh my gosh, I’m so glad you found something to help your thyroid! I tried moderate protein, high fat carnivore, and my energy stayed low, and it just made me gain weight. 🤣 I’ll get tested again probably in September, and hopefully things improve with lowish fat, moderate protein and moderate/high carb. I’m also taking dessicated thyroid. Time will tell. So glad you’re better. Like we said before, healing is what maters, and it can be different paths for all of us. Take care!! 😊
I'm a bit confused by what Kate said about people coming off low carb diets tending towards having insulin resistance. I would've figured they would have insulin sensitivity... Did she misspeak or is my understanding wrong?
@@PeaceIsYeshua thanks. I jumped straight into pro metabolic eating from 10 years of low carb. Hearing her say that made me worry. I hope I didn't do any damage (but I've been checking my blood glucose and my levels seem pretty great)
@@Heracleetus Oh, I see! I haven’t heard anyone talk about possible damage from doing that, so I think you’re probably just fine. The main thing I have heard is that if not used to processing carbs, the body isn’t used to it and so the blood sugar can go too high in the beginning and you may not feel well for a while, and some people have a tendency to put on too much weight in the beginning as their body is adjusting, but if you felt OK, then your body probably adjusted pretty well. ☺️ How are you feeling in general on this diet? Do you find you’re doing better than on low-carb? I did very low carb carnivore for seven months, and my energy just kept getting lower and lower, so that is why I found myself here! I feel like I am starting to get some energy back which is great!
@@PeaceIsYeshua I'm not hardcore pro metabolic but I've been slowly incorporating the principles over the last year and I've noticed a major improvement in my quality of life. I was very low carb for I think over a decade. That made me feel great at the start and got progressively worse. I think, like many, I was so intellectually persuaded by the science BS of low carb that I ignored the very clear connection between eating low carb and how crappy I always felt . For the last few years I've dealt with extreme chronic fatigue and hip pain, more or less completely disabled by both. I developed so many food reactions that I was completely limited in what I could eat and as a result I was running my 5'6" 210lb body on around 400-800 calories a day (so much for eat fewer calories to lose weight!) Since reading Kate's book and applying some of the principles, most of my food reactivity is gone and I can finally eat dairy again, which has made it possible for me to really boost my calories. Milk+maple syrup is a game changer for me. Increasing carbs was a leap of faith for me but I also desperately missed eating fruit, so I took the leap. I had a glucometer and started checking my blood sugars. They tend to be in the mid 80s to mid 90s while fasting and high 90s to 110 after eating large amounts of sugar and carbs. Over the last year I would say the fatigue and brain fog have been cut in half, if not more.
@@PeaceIsYeshua I wrote you a nice long reply that seems to have been destroyed by automod. I'm doing great. My blood sugars are fantastic, fatigue is down 50%. Low carb was a big mistake.
I’m 75. Been more keto and low carb for years. I want to try this but having great trouble getting my calories up and fat lower. Hard to get even 1000 calories There doesn’t seem like enough food choices to pick from to get safe carbs up without slamming the other fats and protein. Fats climb up very fast. I need higher protein because of my age. I’m finding this is not making sense for me. I can’t eat all this food or have the time to fix it all. The food plan in your book is not appealing to me. The safe veg are very hard to do anything with. Am I supposed to eat mostly fruit and milk? Mercola says he eats about 50 pounds of fruit a week. That’s nuts. There seems no way to start slow. Sorry. This isn’t for me. I feel great anyway but thought I needed more calcium.

I love Kate but it's weird that she pushes the idea that hypercaloric consumption means weight gain because if your body is healthy, you simply stop eating spontaneously and more often than not people have the opposite issue, they are not consuming enough calories, which puts their body in low metabolism and makes them slightly hypothyroidic without them knowing. And it's everywhere now: body temps have gone down (look it up), depression is on the rise, etc. The "health" corporation has created a monster of worldwide hypothyroidism after decades of baseless claims that harms people's wellbeing everyday.
Love the book and love Kate. Thanks for having her on. I'm leaving the keto and carnivore diets and switching to a Bioenergetic way of eating.
