I remember when my mom was diagnosed with a glioblastoma and she kept asking her doctors if her mental health and over thinking could have caused this. She asked every doctor she encountered and they all said no. Mind body connection is so important! I dodged breast cancer by lots of self work, therapy and past life healing.

Yes it's crazy! Like they said, the science is there, it's up to date and backing up epigenetics --but the practice of medicine has stalled way behind science.
The medical field has stalled and it's stuck and stagnant and stinks! PS I know stinks is the understatement of the century but I just had to do it for the the alliteration, ya know? 🥰

@@warrensmith3865agreed. I don’t address trauma which came to a head as panic attacks but I was still human and functional. Meds ruined my brain and life. Strange as I had childhood abandonment issues that were whispers. Meds turned them into screams and now I’m 100 💯 abandoned by all, which has created a mental illness that I never had. Angry

Thank you for this interview. Dr Mate was my eye opener when I dealt with cancer years ago. Back then, he blew my mind when he talked about suppressed anger as one of the cancer factors. “When body says no”. That was the book I read back in 2014/2015. I am so happy to see him now all over the internet and once again he has just delivered a message that feels like it’s been addressed to me (I know, I know, but we all live in our heads a little bit)😊Few days ago I put out an intention asking for my true authentic self to show up, reveal itself, tell me what it needs from me. And voila! I just got a new understanding of authenticity and it makes so much sense! So thank you for this episode.

Brilliant! Although I am not that young to heal myself completely, I have been able to realize that my traumas since I was a child were the product of a life of many mistakes that affected my emotional state as well. That realization made me walk away from those who hurt me for so long, even though I loved them. The best thing to do is to run from them if you want to survive. That action is a pain in itself, but one must do it. I haven't healed completely at 75 but I am on the road to have peace to the end of my days. My faith also has helped me a lot. Thank you so much for your help, because although it is a video not a psycho analysis, you guys are helping people. I have been following Dr. Matte through other videos and will purchase his books. I don't know if a person really has to physically move to another place to feel a sense of community. Some people have neighbors two steps away and still don't talk. If you don't have a sense of community, I think we can create it where we are. Create a monthly game night where someone different in the group hosts it each month or have a Sunday dinner every week and invite someone different each time. I think lots of people lack community and they'd appreciate it.

I learned early not to express myself when I got angry and sad. Kept everything inside. Lived with my father who had mental illness. He fluctuated somewhat in his mood. One minute fantastic the next minute he became a monster and aggressive. Walked on eggshells. Because of his mood. Also became codependent and people pleaser. Became like an adult at the age of 7. But inside a child who taught me to never be able to express myself. So when I am involved in similar things, I become silent and freeze. Although I would have to bang my fist on the table and say stop. Never dared to open my mouth and be able to say stop and no. My mother is codependent and a people pleaser like me. Am a copy of my mother. My mother meets a new man when I am 9 years old. A covert controlling narc. My mother becomes a total robot. Who just gives and gives. Even I follow the same prediction. But I hit a rock bottom August 2021 .Became the turning point. But this is painfully hard work to break out of this pattern. Also to regain being able to say stop and no and get angry. Which is healthy. Gets angry inside but it doesn't show. Instead earlier I started please in the same second. But suffocated myself from inside. My mother has been doing that for 76 years. Me for 48 years. But never again. It's healthy to get angry. Unhealthy not to. It killed myself from the inside. Felt like living dead. Didn't get angry for nothing either. Except when it was totally crazy. Got my life back slowly .Get to know myself. Disappeared when I was 7 years old. Now it's my turn. Want to be involved in my own life.

This was a really great interview. I've listened to Dr. Mate' before, but I really enjoyed this interview more than all of the others. I really enjoyed the conversation you had after the interview with Kelsey. I think it's really great that you both took so much away. I can imagine all of us had at least one aha moment during the interview. One thing Kelsey said that struck me, was when she was talking about taking notes to bring to her therapist. While I love that she is proactive, it's a little depressing to me, that so many of the doctors and therapists don't seem to know half of the stuff they should know, and it almost seems counter productive to see them sometimes. When they aren't really much of a guide, but more of a listener, it just seems like it could be a never ending set of appointments. Like why aren't these therapists bringing it up to US and not the other way around.

Having listened to many of these conversations over time, I believe we need to be careful when generalizing: Yes, a flare up of an inflammatory condition maybe because of overextending ourselves to others. It may also be because we're trying to get along on our own in situations that are overwhelming. Not everyone is a good advocate for the self when stressed or injured just from being human. Also, consider reframing or reorienting to need to look after others as a way to fill up. Being of service can be a beautiful and healing experience when done in the right context; not to gain approval or even feel good, but to enable another to feel less alone and less pressure. This is how a sense of self worth and serenity ensues, by giving without expectation.

Unfortunately, we look to our medical professionals to guide us but I quit expecting that and I go to Naturopathic Doctor for my medical care and to my MD for tests and prescriptions. So I already pay out of pocket for my healthcare already. I rarely use the healthcare system yet my tax dollars are still paying for this broken system. Canada’s healthcare is good for trauma but not diseases.
I healed my UC on my own with reading books and drug free for 30 years. I was told it was incurable by my MD. I told him, watch me.

Thank you so much for this video. This man Gabor is amazing he has figured this stuff out. I have been suffering my entire life. My body and mind has finally decided that I can’t function like this anymore. The inability to say no has cost me to much. I was so close to having a severe nervous breakdown. So, I am temporally off from work seeking therapy and on anti-depressant medication.

Wow! Thank you both for this interview. I v much wanna read this Dr Mate's book. The heads-up with how to effectively handle anger is so striking - immediate, when it arises, and boundary set, and let go: That makes so much sense, Sir! As a side note, that process so succintly expressed, as done in this interview, is a true sign of expertise! Thank you - 😊😊.

    I could die
from the pain of missing my best friend.
    He betrayed and abandoned me,
    discarded me like garbage.
My mind can't fathom, my heart can't comprehend.
I live in perpetual panic and constant longing...
How could he not miss me?
How could he do this to me?
    Did he just replace me?
    I'm dying inside.
    My soul is truly raped
    and my heart is shattered.

Yeah!! I think we care what people are thinking about us because
1.our judgements usually don’t mix and match. And they have something to talk about and spread smearing campaigns behind our back
    2. We afraid to say too much in order to avoid bad smearing campaigns and in many circumstances that might cause us a job.
    3. Very often during our childhood we’ve been told “don’t say that””don’t tell her/him”and we keep carrying it over our adult life
4We afraid to be judged , because people who who stand out of the crowd usually don’t follow social savior vivre and being considered nuts, crazy, irrational, being on something etc.
Retirement makes us judgement resistant and talking from the heart but not circumstances . I love it. I’m 71 and know how easy is to make some narcissistic money addicts CEO’s , very angry and powerless.
I’m a avid listener of Dr. Gabor . He is truly authentic person , Speaks from a heart as well from his personal experience not from text books from medical school.
Love all 3 of you. Hope some day our society turn around towards right direction and we get our humanity back on truck .

of the life of the interviewer to.

What does it really mean to experience your emotions and not suppress them when it comes to disappointment, sadness and longing over people who have died or left us? I get it with anger - don’t hold your anger in, but with grief, what can you do to let go of the sadness of missing someone? How do you not let that cause illness in your life?

You mentioned Therapy each week? So, I am wondering how dependent folk are on their therapists and what value does it bring? What emptiness does it fill? What healing is it providing and how much is it part of the American culture rather than an actual need? I'm intrigued as the UK culture appears quite the reverse (stiff upper lip etc) it takes a huge traumatic event to get us to a therapist and in my era there is still a sense of 'shame' attached to that choice. (That's not to say it's right, as it isn't.) So, I ask not out of any judgement but out of pure curiosity? But then I also know that my belief system of being emotionally strong and not asking for help when I need it goes back to my childhood....So many questions I have now as a result of this podcast, but wow have I learned at lot about me in the process, so thank you!🙏

About caring about what other people think. I'm thinking we are programed in childhood to care for our survival, but as you speak about Community and connection. Isn't it also a factor in those connections?
So, I understand that we have to connect with our authentic self. Listen to our body and acknowledge our feelings. Strengthen healthy boundaries. Pretty much a balance between all those factors.
Trauma for doctors, absolutely! I'm a nurse and I'm telling you. It's crazy! From the start of education and later the schedules the lack of empathy from other colleges. Because it many times turns in to carnage. Not to mention the incredible expectations from everyone.
It's not the only career that has such system, so I agree with Dr. Gabor.

I got my Clinical LPC hours in a community mental health facility. Lots of therapists including me left as soon as our hours were done because management did not know anything about selfcare. It is a shame because the platform of the organization is a good, but the practice is not.
