    Another excellent educational video, many thanks. I’m looking over the underlying stocks for QYLD, QYLG, RYLD, XYLD and XYLG are they are the SP500, Nasdaq 100 and the Russell and I wonder why there isn’t one with the Dow 30 stocks as the underlying securities. Any ideas, could it be that they’re more stable and not as much premium when writing a covered call?

    I think the increased volatility of QYLD might end up making it more favorable since you end up with more chances to lower your average cost. But I can see the opposite viewpoint where NUSI's stability is preferred for those who get panicky during market drops.

    So I read some of the comments on here and saw 1 about not wanting to own both this and QYLD due to them both having the same underlying index. My thoughts on that would be that it wouldn't be too bad to have them both since QYLD would be better in a bull market but that NUSI would be better in a bear market. Owning both means that so long as you believe in the underlying index, you win no matter what market we are in.

    • @RetireWithLess
      @RetireWithLess  4 роки тому +3

    Thanks for the analysis. I wanted to share that the strategy used is called a collar option strategy. If you are concerned about liquidity, this strategy can be implemented directly within a broker account. Even those with tax deferred accounts can do it, but you have to ask your broker to give you access to the appropriate option level in order to place orders. Hope that helps.

    • @RetireWithLess
      @RetireWithLess  4 роки тому +1

      Great tip! Also known as a credit spread. The many people with a Roth IRA can benefit greatly from some of these income producing strategies. Thanks Jordan

    • @jordankendall86
      @jordankendall86 4 роки тому

      @@RetireWithLess Although I am not a professional trader, I have experience in trading options and I have noticed that the phrase "credit spread" appears to be used loosely when referring to bull put credit spread or bear call credit spreads or essentially two option (exclusively calls or puts) at the same strike price. If you put in a collar order, which simultaneously buys the underlying ETF or stock, sells a call and buys a put, the result is actually a net debit. This is because you have to use cash to buy the underlying, but because of the net credit between the call and put, the net debit overall is lower. Another way of thinking about it is that you are buying the stock or ETF for less than what it is currently trading in the market or a lower cost basis. Although this assumes you are collecting more premium on the call than you are paying in premium for the put, otherwise it would not be a lower cost basis. Hopefully that makes sense.

    • @RetireWithLess
      @RetireWithLess  4 роки тому +1

      According to the most recent tax document it is 99% return of capital BUT those forms also have this disclaimer: . The actual amounts and sources for tax reporting purposes will depend upon the Fund’s
      investment experience during the remainder of the fiscal year and may be subject to changes based on
      tax regulations. The Fund will send you a Form 1099‐DIV for the calendar year that will tell you how to
      report these distributions for federal income tax purposes. As a result, shareholders should not use the
      information provided in this notice for tax reporting purposes.

  • @tomsettles6873

    GW - Which one are you going with? What is your purpose/goal in selecting this ETF? For a higher yield, or an ETF that is uncorrelated to your equity stocks & ETFs? reason i ask is because DIV appears to offer pretty safe 8.5% - 11.5% yield. I looked back at last 6-7 years payouts and its held up pretty consistently, even through this year. Payout is down 25 - 30% right now, but that still provides yield on cost of 8% for those that purchased 6-9 months ago at all-time high price. But DIV is 100% correlated to your other stock picks, so no diversification there.

    I don't have nusi on my M1 Finance Portfolio.

      It probably has to grow a bit more for that.

    That is a collar option strategy, thanks. I would just buy QQQ using that same strategy. You speak clearly but a bit too slow for me. It's just about right if I play it 1.5x.

      Yeah NUSI must not meet some sort of requirements for M1, but it’s on others. Thanks Charles!

    Hi that strategy is wrong selling 10% above the strike price may give you $6 but the is no way that a put 10% under cost you only $3 at least not a the same expiration day sounds good but have to be way more behind that

    • @RetireWithLess
      @RetireWithLess  4 роки тому +2

      Yup you are most likely right. That’s why I stated I was just displaying the strategy and I was making up the numbers. Thanks!

      I got monetized yesterday! So we will be getting paid for ads. I am sure it will be small but every lil bit helps right now. Thanks AK!

    I love the content but the way you speak literally put me to sleep at the middle of the way. Instead of the listening to white noise when I go to bed I'm just gonna listen to you. I wish I had your kind of peace, calm.

      NUSI- UP 1.84% Year To Date
      QYLD- DOWN 9.44% Year To Date
      On a price basis.
      I’d say it’s doing what it’s designed to do so far.
