i absolutely love buying second hand furniture pieces like this. it's so hard to find something good quality like this cabinet for under $500 in store and i just love that people will list it for not as much so it doesn't just get thrown out
the extra spray after the dead spiders is SO relatable XD and the rainbowy crystal collection is just gorgeous as well (and functional, keeping it steady n all) it's like a lil bifrost for your home! just all in all a really cool piece 😍
The secretary is sooo beautiful! Also I love the way you organized your crystals, it really sparked a lot of joy 😄 This setup + organisation are goals, for real! I hope I can do this one day as well!!
My Altar room has all brand new furnishings as far as bookshelves , some with cabinet doors that came from an unfinished furniture store. There are 7- 8ft tall oak bookshelves going all around the entire room. I stained and finished them myself. The shelves with doors hold dried herbs , seeds , oils , incenses , and extra candles and candle making supplies. I make a lot of my own candles using the bottoms of cut down bottled water bottles. That way I can choose my own colors , oils , and herbs mixed into the candle as I pour the wax into the candle mold. I also have a 7ft diameter black rug that I painted the cardinal points and a circular border . I need an Altar with larger surface space but I like using a drum as my Altar. I try to blend my Native American Heritage into an Eclectic Wiccan Tradition. Since I am a Chickasaw , one of my friends has labeled my way of doing things as "Chicka - Wicca" LoL
Such a lovely piece. I have a secretary's desk for my oils and herbs I use it for my mixing area for salts, oils and herb brews and spell ingredients. My other tools, books, statutes, & working space are in my French Provincial Armoire (that stands about 7 feet tall.) I've had my "big boy" for over 15 years now. Once you move your altar space into something like this you don't go back. Enjoy🔮🍁🦉🕯💎🍀
Yeah it was a real bargain! But the thing is… most of the time you just have to wait and at some point someone will be selling something very cheap because they just want to get rid of it 😅

A Secretary's Desk is the traditional name in English. They can be just the lower part mainly the desk or they can have shelves above or to the sides. Come in a few shapes and sizes. That one you have was in really good shape! Glad you are able to repurpose it, into your space and will get some use out of it. Plus it's where you wanted it for daylight purposes, with lots of storage for tools and crystals. My tools and crystals are all in my bedroom. Although there is good light through the corner windows. Looks good with organizing crystals by color.
Truly gorgeous set-up you have there, and that bureau is beautiful! Such a great idea for an altar as well, to be able to hide it away if needed lol. If you were concerned about the top shelves falling over, you may be able to get some anti-tip furniture straps to clip to the wall behind! I know I've had to consider implementing them with my bookshelves :'')
Yeah I’m also thinking about mounting it to the wall. The problem is that I had to put it up fairly far away from the wall because of mold issues 😫 so I’ll have to figure something out 😅 but with all the big crystals on the bottom it’s very sturdy this far ☺️
I'm looking for something similar, but in pine so I can paint it without feeling guilty (your piece I would not paint!). Rolltop dresser with glass cabinet top would be ideal; a corner unit next to it, and a shelf/drawers/cabinet under the window ... small room, small budget, big challenge, lol. Beautiful alter! I don't know if you are able to but an L bracket on top screwed into the wall and the top of the cabinet would be safer and give you a bit more p we are of mind when opening the upper doors. Really enjoy your videos!
That won’t work because I had to place it pretty far away from the wall because of mold issues in my apartment… so the only thing I could really do is an L bracket as you said ☺️

May I ask, do you keep your Altars the same during a certain period of time or can you change them daily or weekly without desecrating it? I want to dedicate a ash bonsai to Odin which I care for. As I struggle with responsibilities and finishing projects, I feel like this is the best self sacrifice I can give to Odin, that also helps in making his altar in my home even more beautiful. So I think he might like that. It is my own suffering attacking myself (not literal but metaphorical) to this ash tree (because I need to attend it regularly over a long Period of time) to acquire wisdom and insight. I don’t have any on my shop sadly but I’d love to make some. Just have to find affordable biodegradable glitter. I got mine in a random decor shop here in Germany called Nanu Nana. I don’t know how sustainable they are tho…
Luckily, in Canada there are many places to get gold/silver candles, from our "dollar stores" which now costs more than $1/item but is still cheap, to some supermarkets, craft stores, and metaphysical stores.
Well the thought was to charge the big cluster in moonlight (or something else) and then be able to put other crystals, my tarot cards or whatever on it to then in turn charge those ☺️

Probably not your cup of tea but I am a death witch, I work with the dead and dead things. Little buddy would have been my best friend and I would name him. When I find dead bugs they get put on my altar in tiny jars. Currently there a beetle, a wasp, a entire jars of ants, and a lady bug. I didn't kill any of these bugs they died for natural causes or by my landlords killing their home in the ants case. 😓 I also have cow skull given to me my father. He also wanted to give me a dead tarantula but draw the line at things that could have kill me in life. Nope. He got me old horse shoes and some hair from my old barrel horse. She died a few years back of old age. Oh and a mesquite tree branch. Having a father who lives in the country has proven very useful to my craft. He also finds old bottles just scattered around and brings them to me. He brought me a cactus too, whole ass cactus, 🤣 it's not small either. Anyways I love how this went from talking about dead things to talking about how amazing my dad is. Lol. I love him, he is really in the most loving and supportive person in my life.
