About being a woman working with norse gods : in my experience, I've never felt like a woman or a man, but more like a human, as if my actual gender didn't matter at all to them.
13:48 love that book! Definitely recommend Ryan smiths way of fire and ice!! He has a second book that he publish for intermediate pagans as well now! He’s so good at emphasizing the importance of a safe community that does not condone or overlook bigotry prejudiced xenophobia misogyny, and homophobia and it was so comforting and refreshing to have that in a beginners guide
Thank you for answering my question! This video was so insightful and helpful. It’s really great to find a community like this where experiences are shared and we can learn from each other. I appreciate your constant reminders that Norse Paganism is “what you make of it” (to a degree). I struggle sometimes with seeking reassurance from rules or other people’s ideas instead of trusting my intuition. This video felt informative, but also encouraging, that a lot of the heathen path is yes, do your research, but also, try it and find out!
Loved this video! I also love that you talked a lot about the land spirits. I’m not sure if you have a video about the land spirits or not yet, but I think it would be cool if you could make a video about how to worship/interact with them! I do wildlife photography and am trying to come up with little rituals or something that I can offer them when I am out in the wilderness and also trying to come up with a way to make my photos into some sort of offering to them
Interesting question. I did try to connect to Odin's ravens by asking him to help and just did a meditation with ravens outside. If I dIdn't Succeed, I wouldn't know. I had a full experience of looking in to their eyes. Thank you so much for hosting this. I do love these. They always comf9ry me in knowing I'm not alone and help give me ideae.
30:17 As someone who had Christianity forced on or around me but never let it taint my core and heart beliefs, I want to say something I noticed that people want to bring into witchcraft or paganism is this notion of shame or self shame and punishment. Even working with the Angels.. working with a God or Goddess - calm down - be genuine - stop berating yourself - they’re usually pretty chill - they usually aren’t out to nor have the notion or time to be bothered with petty things like how in Christianity we have to be exclusive and devote or absolve our sins and denounce being a human. They understand our lives are messy. Honestly they approach us with love and curiosity maybe even indifference until you show you have some effort or investment but take your own guilt and karma out of your practice.
Love the video and appreciated the answer you gave me. I would like to throw in for another question about if the stories should be taken literally. While none of us reconstructing this faith Know anything, I like to think of the Eddas as a mixture of lessons and stories. I tend to think of the Gods as, sort of, extended elder family. When my children are going through something, I try to relate to them a story from my life, if I have something relevant, and how I dealt with it, what happened, and what I learned. Sometimes, often actually, I embellish it to make it a better story or more on point to explain a lesson. The Gods are said to sometimes walk among us. Who is to say if maybe those Eddic Stories are not ones they told to people because that is what you do, especially to children, which we kind of are to them I suspect.
Hi Bente, I absolutely love your channel. I’m curious if you have tips for pagan veils for a fellow buzz cut person. As in fabric or how it stays on. Thank you 🙏
10:51 i was literally thinking about this right before i watched this. other religions have changed and evolved, why wouldnt pagans if they weren’t k***** for not converting? 21:17 bird feathers, antler sheds, and shedded snake skins are parts of animals you can sacrifice in a modern way. no harm to the animals and you can practice animism hiking to find them.
29:26 the idea that all deities exist in the binary of good vs. evil. i see this polarized way of thinking a lot when discussing Loki and his offspring for example. also, taking the few written sources we have and treating them as you would treat the bible.
I only just saw this video tonight but my question would be that i dont have much room for a large altar in my motorhome is it ok to have multiple altars in the home?
@@TheNorseWitch I'd like to ask as a newbie witch that does crystal divination and pendulum work I'm a Pisces and I love any crystals in the air element my dance is that of air not of water. I want to know my main power. How can I find that. Besides my personality traits.
@FreyalynnRyanneSDtrainer I‘d say don’t get hung up on your astrological makeup but try different practices and see what you like and what you’re good at ☺️
I have a question. What do you think about dia de los muertos ( day of the dead) as a start for a beginner like myself who is still learning about Norse Paganism? I hope I didn't confuse you 😕😕😕
Àlfablòt is October 31-November 2. It is not Día de los Muertos. I would say follow Bente's advice about inclusive authors and see what they say online about Àlfablòt.
In your next video I'd love to talk with you about a personal preference I have for me. I feel like I need to get into a costume or type of clothing to fully get into the spirit of witchcraft. Is this a strange thing or is this common?
To be honest I think a lot of practitioners start out with Wicca I think I kinda did, and some of the things I'm doing are still Wicca , kind of, even though I'm not !!!!!!
It is so sad to me that we have to label a meet up inclusive to make everyone feel welcomed :( seriously, that should be onvious! can't we just say assholes are excluded instead?!? :)
Perhaps I've missed something, I apologise if so, but why is a Norse pagan wearing a head scarf recently? Dont get me wrong, it's not that i think it's not fashionably acceptable, especially if it's cold there, where you are, but i have noticed that a few female 'creators' recently have been wearing these. Could you please explain to me why this is, as I am unaware of any religious or pagan reason for doing so, especially when many are representatives of different pagan belief systems... I enjoy your input, I'm not a Norse pagan, but I appreciate your insights,...Cheers.
with those stories about odin and thor pushing themselves on women, i personally believe that to be a part of christian rewriting of the faiths.... then again times have definitely changed...
I got back into contact with the realm of the (gods) by kinda cribbing Odins lore but under the (shroud/identity) of Woden, instead of plucking out my eye I kept it closed for basically an entire year... I sneezed a few times but other than that! It was a desperate time in my life and though it wasnt in of itself the gateway (those are inside, look for the infinite void, turn left shout) it was very much the act of devotion that got the attention of the one who guides me even now... Not in the telling me what to do way so much, the (gods) whoever they may be have all been the most amazing, brilliant, beautiful, terror and awe inducing people I've ever met and in ways that will allow you to transform who you are, the world, etc.. A few things that could be helpful. A spirit or (god) could perhaps try to impersonate another (god) and that would probably result in just the worst time for the impersonator:/ Pretend to be Kali:/ (we are allowed of course, still best to be courtious about it). If you use a method like mine, building a connection within, it can be really easy to trick yourself into thinking a thing happened, once again, this isn't an issue for the (gods) it can take time and effort but if you ask to know them, you will know, it will feel more than natural.... It will feel super natural :) blessed be (as you like)
I am an Atheist ans I would like to work with spirits/gods. I feel like Frau Holle is calling me but it is a bit strange for me since I don't believe in her. I am so confused😅

@TheNorseWitch Ach wie schade 😢 danke für die schnelle Rückmeldung😊
I only just saw this video tonight but my question would be that i dont have much room for a large altar in my motorhome is it ok to have multiple altars in the home?
Sure! There’s really no rule for altars. And if you don’t want one inside you can also have an outside altar

Could one who is not tied to the culture become a Norse pagan?
Yes!

hi bente!
is your headwear a sort of veiling or just headwear? i know it can be usual in helpol, but i don’t know if it’s a thing for norse pagans
For now it’s only a headscarf but I’ll turn it into a veil
@@TheNorseWitchso cool to know you’re starting veiling too! i ordered mines and i’ll start soon too🥰
I used hats already before, but yeah this will be my first time with a scarf ☺️
Is there a book in german or english that combines all the Sagas or most of them?
Not that I know of. But there’s different collections.

I mean, atm I really only do it for fashion reasons. But many use a head scarf for veiling, as in they use it as protection.
Cheers for that...What a fast response,...Regardless,... you pull it off very well...Have a lovely day...Benedictus!
