    Don’t let the trend of spiritual gatekeeping bring you down. You’re perfectly reasonable and don’t owe them an explanation anyways. Much love and be yourself ❤️

    I love the way you explained not wanting to be wasteful with the white sage. I was in a similar boat, but I realized that personally for me it felt more disrespectful for it to end up tossed carelessly into a dump somewhere. I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one 💜

    I love how sweet you are! You clearly worry about people being upset by things and try to explain and ease that before they even see anything to moan about, bless your heart! 🥰❤️❤️❤️ Your personality/soul is so lovely! Your altar space is so beautiful!!! 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m also vegan and I didn’t go anywhere near anything real leather, mead made with honey and not maple syrup, real fur etc until I joined a Viking reenactment group and everything needs to be authentic and I now have a lot of fur and leather but all has been bought 2nd hand or given to me and now I’ve started to incorporate it all into my little altar spaces and stuff like that too and I find it defo has a different vibe, almost a more genuine, old kind of vibe if that makes sense at all?! I always thank the animals it came from and pray to Hel for their spirits to be at peace too! I also grow my own white sage in the garden, how I managed to get even one seed to grow I don’t know as I’m in the UK 😂🤷‍♀️ but it’s a few years old and doing well in my garden 🤞🥳🙌 and I harvest pieces off that now and again and I still have the very first and only bundle I ever bought from a shop and still hardly use it but the plant itself does feels very, very special, I’d be heartbroken if it suddenly just died, I hate the smell of it though! But I adore that plant as it honestly feels to have a spirit around it that a lot of the other herbs and plants just don’t have, I see why the native Americans knew it special! 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

      I will definitely make a separate video on Altars in general ☺️ I have 2 so I think I could definitely give some info on that ☺️
      Hahah yeah Calatheas aren’t the easiest plants. But to be quite honest I tend to overwater my plants and Calatheas like getting lots of water. So we get along as long as they don’t get thrips or spider mites ☺️

    The need to explain is a sad fact in such a self entitled world. I am vegetarian, I consume very little animal products, but when I attempted veganism and found a local group. My first meet up someone was disgusted at our having pets even rehomed ones. And suggested we rehome them. The logic or lack of made no sense to me. My abandoning animals we love and ethically care for was and is a shocking concept. So the reuse or continued use of animal skin makes sense, more than buying new.
    Your alter is beautiful and a practical workspace.
    Thank you for taking the time to share.

    • @TehBuggy

      I think for some people, being able to label themselves something like “pure vegan” is more important to them than the reasons they chose that in the first place.
      My parents adopted a special needs senior cat who had been severely ab*used, and I was asking a resource group advice for some mobility issues she had and mentioned she had been declawed by her previous owner. Someone started berating me for adopting a declawed cat, and said that choosing to adopt her was just as terrible as declawing her ourselves. HOW is it morally better to toss her onto the streets defenceless? Or to let her rot away in a shelter? If someone thinks I’m evil for choosing to give her love and safety and care for the first time in her life, it says more about *their* morals than it does about *mine*

    There is this type of witch goth look in decorating right now. I gave a lot of ideas on Jacob's videos recently but I did not get back one word ever. Any way I can tell you and you may like the ideas. For one is old curio cabinets to put your bottles and books in. Old or not it looks cool. A little crow or raven sitting on one of the books on its side. In the corner the person had put a lots of old suitcases together and it worked as a cool end table. like near Chicago so the natural harder look is in . All I have to do is go into a nicer bar and the look is big and easy to copy certain things. I saw a viking wine bottle a long time ago but did not buy it like I should of. You may not be interested in any of this. I just mainly wanted to say hi. Im just beginning to get involved in the Norse religion.

    As a 're-aspiring vegan' I don't think there is such thing as a "perfect vegan". I think we do the best we can with the information we have and situations we find ourselves in. As a pegan I understand the connection with the natural world, life cycles and feeling the need to connect through detritus and other sorts if items. I also understand how people would think I'm a hypocrite for saying I'm a vegan while wearing leather shoes ect.. I think specially in the modern age it's difficult to see the whole picture and easy to pick things apart. There's nuance in everything and while it's easy to think in extremes most things sit somewhere in the middle. As started before, I believe we're all doing the best we can with what we have.

    I think for newbies it would be important, what it is exactly about the white sage, as there is still this kind of a myth as part of a "starter pack".

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  3 роки тому +3

      Yes in hindsight I really regret not explaining that 🤦🏻‍♀️ in short there are 2 things wrong with it:
      1. White sage is an endangered species
      2. White sage has originally been used by native Americans for cleansing in a special ritual called „smudging“ and using white sage or even „smudge sticks“ is thus considered cultural appropriation ☺️

    • @RhiannonHarvest
      @RhiannonHarvest 3 роки тому

      @The Norse Witch yes exactly. I have white sage myself however I am part Native American and Only use it on rare occasions for exactly that for smudging and I have been trained in it and the culture. I definitely appreciate others who are trying to educate others on this topic. Plus there are hundreds of other breeds of sage like blue sage that’s my favourite. Or you can use a combo of a different species of sage and herbs as an herbal bundle cleansing wand. That’s totally okay. 🌿

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  3 роки тому

      When I don’t use the leftover bundle I mainly use garden sage that I grow myself ☺️ that works perfectly fine too! And if you don’t want to completely eradicate EVERY type of energy, just the „bad“ one, Rosemary is wonderful ☺️

    • @RhiannonHarvest

    But I don't understand what you mean with the white sage. Is it bad?

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  3 роки тому

      Thank you! Yeah I should have said that in the video :/ there’s 2 things wrong with white sage:
      1. it’s an endangered plant so using it isn’t good
      2. People typically buy it in bundles as smudge sticks. But these smudge sticks are used by native Americans and they are part of special rituals. So using them is considered cultural appropriation.
      There are so many alternatives to using white sage, like normal garden sage or rosemary ☺️

    • @gamina-art1356
      @gamina-art1356 3 роки тому +1

      In addition I learned that white sage is cleaning negative and positive energies. Which isn't wanted in most cases. It's like the bleach of cleansing herbs. 😅

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  3 роки тому

      Yeah that depends on what you want. If you cleanse your magick circle in the beginning of a magick working its wanted that the circle is cleansed completely so that no energies whatsoever can interfere with the spell ☺️

      @Sweet_Strawberry303 3 роки тому +1

    • @AkayukiSan

      @@TheNorseWitch little question about the smudge sticks: What IS a smudge stick. Because, as you know, I'm originally from (northern) Bavaria. And even in catholic tradition at the beginning of the year, the farmhouse, stable, animals get cleansed with herb smoke and the herbs are a more or less tight bundle. But, well, I don't think, that the old lady on the mountain in the deepest Bavaria hundreds of years ago knows about Native American tradition. So, I am very curious, where are the differences and similarities lie. 🤔

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  3 роки тому

      I want to generally cause as little harm to any being as possible. And to me that includes being vegan. But honestly at the moment I could do better with that. 😅 the 98% come from the fact that I don’t force my parents to cook vegan for me when I visit them. My mother would be extremely overwhelmed by that. Also when we go out for dinner I don’t expect them to take me somewhere that has vegan options. I just don’t want to make their life harder 😅

  • @PpAirO5
    @PpAirO5 10 місяців тому +1

    No offense, but to my understaniding being a Vegan you're not "allowed" to use ANYTHING from an animal.
    Maybe you're more Vegetarian than Vegan 😊
    I'm non of those, but have the greatest respect for those that are.
    One have to understand that in nature animals kill and eat each other every day.
    I'm a hugh animal friend, and believe that the animal/food/farming production has to live up to HIGH qualities and give the animals as close to a "normal" life as possible. Respecting their nature and individual needs. The animals that we eat, and bless us with their fur, should be treated best way possible, to give them a good life untill it ends...
    Also using as much of the animal as possible, so that it hasn't died in vain 😌💚

    I have such a hard time deciding how to do my altar since my OCD causes me to want to make twos of everything and to be perpendicular: 3 different feathers on both sides and being from dark to light in shade to my mini cauldron being opposite of my chalice but being the same distance from each other. Then, I also get stuck in not wanting to change it after the frustration, but it needs to be done, so I suck it up, and when I'm done, it's so satisfying. Lovely video and beautiful altar space. ❤️
