    Not showing off, being understated, choosing high quality -- this makes total sense to me. Some of these popular showy items are downright ugly. I like to choose well designed, elegant, unusual in a beautiful way clothing and accessories. Comfort is also helpful. And long-lasting items. Showing less skin whenever possible. Those platforms are downright dangerous too. Anything the Kardashians are wearing, I would choose the opposite. Nouveau riche ... no.

      Liz you nail the Parisian style ! Parisian also like to add something original or unique (although old money from the 16th are more conservative) some bohoo or ethnic chic pieces, or rock (depending of the style), vintage pieces ect.

      @LizLyonsPhD Рік тому

      @@Aliceinparisofficial Actually, this is not too different from what chic NYers would choose as well. Old money here is from the Mayflower -- I am not sure what the Gen Z are wearing from that class but everyone else with just a bit of awareness dresses as you outline. (Not in LA -- any crazy thing goes here in LA and people will show up even at the opera in shabby clothes, something that still shocks me).

    I love the understated French elegance which is also more my own style, but there's something to be said about Italian fashion specially in Milan. They wear logos head to toe, carry brand bags, and wear color and loudness unapologetically. I can't say I dislike Milan's street fashion; it's freeing and individual and they can surely showcase it beautifully. Fashion is fun, not a sense of identity! BTW, I love your love of the Kardashians, LOL!!!!!

    • @am143-g1m
      @am143-g1m Рік тому +3

      Italian fashion it´s more flamboyant and always was. It is part of their culture which is very expressive and sometimes dramatic. We talk about opera, theater, architecture and all the history that comes from behind. The Italian taste has nothing to do with the French taste and although the Italians like logos, they do it well and with taste. We can't say that Italians dress badly, look like nouveau riches or are tacky. We cannot even associate them with these negative aspects, as we are talking about culture and the way of living life.

    What about designer logo brooches? Personally I don’t get why someone would wear brooches like a Chanel double C on their lapel. Are they Coco herself or a Chanel employee? Is it to show that they are a fan of Chanel? Or to get people to think that the H&M jacket the pin is attached to is from Chanel? Or to show everyone that they can afford a Chanel…pin? Or that they just appreciate the “beauty” of the CC logo itself? A Loewe logo pin has way more artistry in the design than the pair of interlocking Cs. Do Parisians wear logo pins?

      Someone just asked me why I have so many Vuitton bags with the monogram. I said, "why do you always wear your Yankee hat?" It's the same thing. I love the monogram - it's beautiful, and I love the heritage and history of the Vuitton brand. I am a fan of the brand, so someone wearing CC Chanel earnings may feel the same. Why are people so concerned with what everyone else is wearing. Wear what you want and who cares what others think?

    • @totesgene
      @totesgene Рік тому +1

      @csandford11 That's not a fair statement. I don't buy Vuitton monogram, Gucci Ophidia and Dior olique bags becasue I want to "look" rich or give some type of illusion that I am. I buy and wear them because they are beautiful. I've carried plain bags my whole life. It's nice to have intereresting bags with beautiful patterns on them, not to mention great quality items.

    Dear Alice, I followed and I liked your videos but sometimes it gives things which disturb me you showed some ppl wearing short dresses and you told it is not Parisian and not classy and you presented at the end of the video yourself with a short dress and overknees boots for the evening 👢 and I thought ok she is wearing what she told to not wear ??… so it was the first thing which surprised me The second thing is that If you personally disapproved that some ppl are wearing a belt with a logo may be with xxpensive shoes or bag but with no other signs of wealth and surely with high quality of clothes or others bc of some sorts of perfumes it is your own opinion as you underlined but it is not alright that you criticize everything you do not like bc the French allure came in the 60 from such ppl living in Paris like Birkin, Bardot , Deneuve , Hardy etc who wore hot pants or trousers or minis with belt surely from Hermes Gucci etc and expensive bags and expensive heavy patchouli or vanilla perfumes etc Their style is still a French recognizable style and they were the ambassadors of the French culture in the world and they are still in our days style icons it seems Dear Alice that you are not always objective.

    Well I guess the people in Paris prefer to dress like stepford wives, all the same in neutral colors. Color brings energy, smiles, life to and outfit. I have yet to see someone put on a neutral color to cheer themselves up. It seems to me that when everyone is trying to dress alike in the same colors and styles, you can easily loose individual personalities and customs. Each person is different so to say that if a person likes to wear bright colors and even a logo they are tacky that is demeaning their God given personality and/or customs is disrespectful. Color and logos done properly can be elegant. When Parisians travel to other countries, it might be said they Parisians dress boring or plain. Regardless of country, tax bracket, customs- color brings energy. Try it, it makes one less uptight.
