The King of Fighters XIII combo video showcasing what EX Kyo Kusanagi is capable of, be that old, new, practical or impractical.
COMMENTS
I nearly perfected EX Kyo's combos the first time I made his video but there was something I noticed that was missing from the video and that was an extra backdash down C. Although people may think that both versions of Kyo are exactly the same in regards to normals, EX Kyo's jump down C is pretty much the same from the older KoF games unlike normal Kyo's. You can notice that normal Kyo's jump down C shows him swinging his arms in an arc while EX Kyo's arms almost instantly swings down which allows EX Kyo to get in an extra backdash down C unlike normal Kyo (which seems to be too slow). Also it seems no one knows about EX Kyo being able to get both hits of his qcf BD after his kick rekka ender. Just simply delay his rekkas so the opponent is very low in the air to get both hits. Other than those two big differences in this version of the video, I just added some random (not so useful) tidbits like showing uses of his ground qcf AC extensions and whiffing his Neo Max and still being able to combo afterwards.

NESTS Kyo is the best and I've never had more fun in a KoF game than playing him in 13. I hope they bring this Kyo back for 15!

*Four* DUNKS to Naraku
That's the hardest combo in the video, linking 4 dunks and right after you have to 1f link cr.B into cl.C, so damn stressing to do that link consistently.

I can say with no doubt in my mind that, visually speaking, EX Kyo's MAX Super is the best one out of all of them, hands down, no questions asked. I love it so goddamn much and it's one of the things that just sells KOF XIII to me. It's so awesome.

@@jaderabbit898 The orochi punch is actually a different move in the NEST saga. But I'd eat my hat if Totsuka isn't an improved version of it.
The most badass Kyo Kusanagi ever:
1- KOF 98
Because Kyo had a lot of possibilities to create destructive combos thanks to his very rich panel of techniques. He could especially count on his kicks which threw the opponent in the air, giving Kyo the opportunity to make combos that could include special techniques like Orochinagi. He could just as easily chain attacks on an opponent while standing, hitting him consecutively up and down, which made him very unpredictable.
2- KOF Maximum Impact Regulation A
In this opus, Kyo was the king of mixups with big damage and could put his opponent in total confusion thanks to his way of chaining high and low attacks with the possibility of easily including Orochinagi in his combos . And because of his special contact technique, the opponent had to avoid any bodily contact with Kyo as long as he had at least 2 energy bars. He was even more formidable in front of the wall because the latter favored his mixups and contact technique.
3- KOF 95
In this one, Kyo had good aerial footwork. His scissor kicks threw the opponent into the air, then Kyo followed up with aerial attacks. His combos were doing great damage.
4- KOF XIII
NESTS Kyo attacks are very similar to those of KOF 98 Kyo. And he could use his ultimate attack, the big flaming punch with ease, just after throwing his opponent into the air, which is very formidable.
5- KOF 97

I think I considered both criteria while comparing Kyo's level with that of other characters in the same game. You must have noticed that in my comment, I mentioned the NESTS Kyo's Neomax from KOF XIII as being one of his major advantages. It's a formidable attack that he can inflict with ease of opportunity, especially after simply knocking an opponent into the air. And I specify that I particularly like the execution of this punch which certainly gives Kyo an even more badass look. But that's not enough to rank this Kyo above the Kyo versions ranked in my Top 3, whether in terms of badass or best in the game. And in my previous comment, I explain why. If I can come back to some details, it would be that of Kyo in KOF Maximum Impact Regulation A, who has a very formidable super move executed with only 2 energy bars. It's his contact or grappler technique that comes from a NESTS version, but in KOF MIRA this technique is very well adapted to the 3D style of play and makes Kyo very dangerous as soon as he has 2 energy bars . His ability to create mixups is magnificent and he confuses high and low attacks. In this same game, he is clearly in the top 3. I can also talk about Kyo 98 who is the best in his game. Kyo 95 is not very impressive in his super moves but he is effective in his basic attacks in particular because of his great damage buddy during his combos which he ends with his aerial kick tsunami. And in his game he is the 1st in tier list so he outclasses all the other characters.
Those combos were too cool and hot at the same time!

Most people don't understand that the viability of these skills is absolutely insane. Most of these aren't wall pressure 100%... That require minimal setup... Kyo ex busted confirmed... Know what makes that the entire Kof series.. Kof is busted...

Unfortunately, the voice actor for Kyo Kusanagi in this game (And every single KOF game before 13.) has retired due to old age. It's unlikely he'll come back, especially since he voiced Kyo for almost over twenty years.

So what's the difference between the two Kyos?
They have different attacks.
KoF '95 vs. KoF '96 Kyo. The one that comes on-disc has a fire spark projectile whereas the DLC version has punch chains. I prefer the DLC Kyo.
SolidSonicTH They're both pretty fun to play with. Just wish that Normal Kyo in XIII had his 3-kick aerial assault. Would've been a nice way to finish off combos.
Aaron Chanthivong That move was ridiculous lol. Despite people calling Kyo' 95' era in KoF 98' weak than his rekka version (basically his 94' moveset that existed since his debut), its kinda wrong, he could do tons of damage thanks to his normals that are basically the same as his rekka self and other tools such as his cancelable overhead, 75 shiki and also not the best but still rather useful fireball. If he had it in KoF XIII though, it could change his abilities to combo cause the one he has now in KoF XIII allows him to go in for another move. If he has the 3-kick aerial assault, I bet the heavy version can only Special cancel into Air Orochinagi.

first combo flame super into reckka, how did u do that? when i try to do it reckka does not come out
winkawak The super has to hit outside of the corner while still being close enough to the corner so that the rekka will hit. If the super hits in the corner, it doesn't hit late enough for the rekka to connect.

Normal Kyo has a "shoto" playstyle, while NEST kyo has rekkas.

people complain about the new one for these graphics when honestly this was a huge disappointment to me when it came out. the mechanics are what matter most anhway.
