THIS IS NOT TRUE! The Westphal problem began when Howard "Mr. Renegotiation" Slusher became his agent. This was early in Red's experience with this type of agent, and he was not very happy about the expanded role agents had begun to play in the NBA. Has Bob forgotten about the financial situation of the Celtics in the 70s? Red knew he wasn't going to be able to re-sign Westphal. One of Slusher's favorite stories about Westphal, pre-Slusher, was that when Westphal was first drafted by the Celtics, Auerbach dangled a key chain with a Celtic emblem on it in front of him, saying 'This is not just a key chain, this is the Celtics, this is Celtic tradition," without telling him that you could buy one downstairs for $2.50. Slusher: "Paul almost became the first kid to sign for a key chain."

Can Bob tell us about Bailey Howell? He was with the Celtics for only 3 years but he helped them win 2 titles and was an all-star in one year. He seems to be forgotten in Celtics lore.
