Hr Geiger did the work on the original dune.
Yes that's right
The domes encountered in Prometheus were adapted from Giger's early Dune concepts..
Whilst this is most certainly beautiful and I would definitely watch it. The cost of the costumes alone would be immense. Great work though 👏👏👏👏
You mean Lynch's Dune. Bc the original is a book.
@@FabioLeprechaun no I don’t mean that the art direction for the movie was influenced and worked on by HR GEIGER , so redoing the film with AI in THE STYLE OF GEIGER is redundant
This could be an unpopular opinion. This artwork is nice but it is nothing HR Giger would approve. It’s almost too pretty on the eyes. Giger is all about pain and suffering.
100%. It's the definition of Pastiche. Copies the style without any of the deep and powerful messages conveyed by Geigers images.
As a life long H.R. fan I can say, with out hesitation, I concur.
Also, there are no androids in Dune
@@jerichothirteen1134couldn’t have said it better. It’s nice to look at but totally
Pastiche
yep its crap
This is amazing!
Did anyone notice in Prometheus, that some of Giger's art for Dune was used? The domed structures (the first of which the Prometheus team entered) were based on Giger's concept of Harkonnen architecture.
Thank you! I did not know about this face. But very cool then.
אין כמו אימא בעולם!!!!!!!!!!
Two of my favourite films and one of my favourite artists.
Or was it based upon Giger's concept of the egg chamber in Alien? Which came first, his designs for Alien or for Dune?
@@aliensoup2420 His designs for Dune came first, I believe. I cannot remember if he was tapped for work by Jodorowsky on the aborted Dune project from the early 70's (which would've had Pink Floyd doing the music for that version). I just remember reading somewhere (Perhaps it was the art book "Giger's Alien") that those domes with the elongated skulls on top were his idea of Harkonnen architecture.
While I feel that Giger's work is far too intricate for Dune's desert simplicity, these images are awesome!! 😮😮
Yes, all of that intricate structure and flamboyant design is impractical for the desert life in Dune. It looks good for a video game, but totally distracting for a film drama.
Its like an art director on drugs, "Give me more pipes, tassels, and filigree".
It would be appropriate for the design of the Harkonnen’s world & culture. The sand worms looked absolutely demonic in these images. In the books, Some of them are meant to be but most are meant to be seen as manifestations of God
Yeah, there’s a reason his art was primarily supposed to be for Giedi Prime in Jodorowsky’s Dune.
For the Harkonen yes.... But also for some other great houses and for the Spatial Guild!
But you're right... To much complexity for the desert life of the Fremen.😂
I would watch this Dune version! it just goes beyond anything that has been done so far. Also somebody needs to do War of the Worlds using this AI stuff!
Thank you ❤️
Oh yes ... that robot at 2:00 is very Dune.
You will get your wish. AI will be able to turn books into replica movies within 5 years.
Simp with no education to back up the choices they make 🤦♂ yuck!
In less then 60 years we can observe the weight that a prolific artist has taken on a work of literature.. or better yet OTHERS interpretation of the artist on a particular subject.. original books remain with the original detail remain in wonder.. outside the TicTok generation of course 🤦♂
Let’s just take the sandworm.. how they are described and how they are shown.. yuck.
Agree totaly
Damn that is so impressive. As a fan of Dune and Giger I thank you. If this was a video game, it would be incredible
Thank you for your kind words! We're glad to hear that you, as a fan of both Dune and Giger, enjoyed our AI-generated artworks. The idea of turning this concept into a video game does sound incredible! We'll continue to explore and create more unique projects like this one, so stay tuned!
Those images are something else. Really love Giger's work and also anything Dune related. To put them together is pure genius.
Thank you!
But its NOT Gigers work,m just images based on using his work without authorisation and spewing crap out.
Giger did art for dune
I have to disagree - while artistically it looks amazing it contradicts the feeling of the work of F. Herbert. Or, at least, this is how I feel it. 🙂
Check Gieger's original art for the Dune movie then.
Hmm, interesting seeing this new AI take on Dune. HR Giger WAS contracted by Jordorowsky to create concept art for Dune, there is already legit artwork from the 70's. It's really bizarre, but I would expect nothing less. I think some of his influence did eventually creep into the 1984 dune, specifically some of the Harkonnen set pieces. They look very Giger-ish to me.
And don’t forget the navigators! The Jordorowsky storybook „dune bible“ is very impressive too!
also Jean Giraud aka Moebius
My father ha and edition of Children and God Emperor with "illustrations" by Giger, first dune books I read 20+ years ago. Really creepy stuff, loved it.
I'd forgotten about that!
And a few years after being commissioned to do the concept art for Dune he reused some of his ideas to create the concepts for Alien
*Long Live House Harkonnen*
As a kid who grew up on dune (and I've also read all of the books)...that amazing art blown my mind! Stunning 🤩
that makes me very happy ❤
Did you grow up on Dune? Awesome! Was it as hot as it looks?
HG's art designs totally embody the sinister, amazing. Even AI synthesizing his work comes up with some killer designs.
That last shot of The Baron - WOW!
Well, it‘s kind of Giger-stylish. But if you know more of his artworks - e.g. from the Necronomicon and rhe already mentioned images for the Dune movie - you see the large gap between the output of an AI program and an artist.
But that's exactly how it's allowed to be. No one will ever be able to copy an artist exactly.
@@khrom_ai except Vladimir Harkonen, nothing really scream Dune...there are deserts and creatures, but it's not even close. Also, there were so many things that could have been drawn in Giger style (Bene Tleilax Axlotl Tanks for example) and didnt. This looks more like Farscape, not like a true Dune...
but interesting concept.
I love these creatures! Dune is owned and done - they need their own story!
Holy shit, these are amazing! The Giger-Version of the Worm is so cool! - Also it has that "uncanny valley"-AI-vibe to it, to works brilliantly for Dune and Giger! That golden Skull Mask is also SAF!
I'm telling you. If AI does ANYTHING besides kill software jobs it will be design. Especially for movies. It can really excel in minute detailing differences to make each story seem its own. These are amazing. Way better than what we got. This feels more unfamiliar, like the world would truly be in 20,000 years or so. Almost alien. Fantastic.
was very happy about your comment, thank you very much
Itll not totally replace it, but itll kick that starting development phase to nothing
Generate a thousand concepts, and see which work
You're right, AI can definitely speed up the initial concept generation phase and provide a vast array of ideas to choose from. However, it won't replace human creativity and input entirely. It's more about collaborating with AI to bring new and exciting ideas to life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
@@khrom_ai Yeah, at first, anyways.
Herbert himself talked about this in _Dune._ The Butlerian Jihad was all about the consequences of "Men giving themselves up to machines." They nearly ended themselves via slavery in ignorance and dull thinking. Misinterpretations of his writing - including by Herbert's own son and Kevin J. Anderson - translated it as actual war against robots, but it's obviously a war against laziness and apathy. Only the focus on human exceptionalism via massive, religious specialization in strictly human abilities and beliefs are what saved them. We're literally seeing that "self end" happening today, and AI like this is just another tool for it. As a writer and an artist, I'm impressed by its capabilities, but I know corporate mindsets will adopt this simply by the nature of its ease and lack of expense and human baggage. Laziness is the death of creativity.
I recently watched a Japanese woman who's been crafting Noh masks for 40 years do her work. An AI could probably replicate that just as easily using automated processes. The real issue that gets me about it is this: Would an individual be able to feel that such a creation was hollow and without humanity if they _didn't_ know that an AI produced it? Unless their perception is particularly acute (almost like a Bene Gesserit or Mentat, funnily enough,) I don't think so.
_That_ factor is what gives me anxiety about AI. That people won't just fail to recognize it, but that they won't care when they do. As a creative human being, it's worrisome, but at least our unique individuality will always have a place. God willing.
@@_Jay_Maker_ Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Jay Maker. It's evident that you've given this topic a great deal of consideration. I agree that the essence of humanity and the unique qualities we possess, such as creativity and empathy, are irreplaceable. AI can indeed be a powerful tool, but it should be used responsibly and as an extension of human abilities rather than a replacement.
It's essential to maintain a balance between technological advancements and the preservation of human creativity, craftsmanship, and individuality. As we continue to evolve, it's important to remember that AI can be a beneficial tool when used to complement human creativity, but it's up to us to ensure that we don't lose sight of our own unique qualities.
Your perspective on this topic is essential, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and concerns.
Magnificent imagery. Captivating music. Superb presentation.
Ginger (Giger) did some sketches for Jodorowsky's project of Dune. He was in charge of the Harkonnen looks. That's how he got a job in Alien.
Did you see his awesome designs in the „dune bible“ storybook? So cool!
But which Ginger? There are so many.
@@defundhollyweird8675 😅 well spotted. I must correct the auto-corrector.
Also some Beksinski in there which is perfect, they’re my two favorite modern painters. Stunning!

Amazing how just being outdoors makes it less creepy than the older works.
This is freaking INSANE!
I'm saving this for my new 2023 Screensaver....the artwork is just awesome as f@ck!
Ending with the Baron Harkonnen was totally EPIC!!

I'm glad you liked it
I agree. All of the pieces were astounding, but the one with the Baron ended the sequence on a high note.
Baron is obese. Is he Hamlet type?
How are you gonna use it for screensaver, pls?
Last year we were blown out by AI doing great drawings, now it is photorealistic images.
At this rate, anyone will be able to make a full movie with prompts in just a few years I'm sure.
Matrix was a documentary
You'll get that right.
you're already in the Matrix... this is just a system update
Hands where I can see it :)
if only everyone could ALSO write good stories and learn acting... because we already have enough bottom level movies as is, barely not drowning in them, imagine so much bad movies you'll never be able to find a single of the few good ones hidden amongst all the dregs anymore!!?.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled that you appreciate the level of detail and character designs in these AI-generated artworks. It's fascinating to see how AI can bring a fresh perspective to well-known stories and universes. Stay tuned for more exciting projects!
One of H.R. Gigers designs for the Harkonnen Castles in Jodorowsky's Dune was used in the film Prometheus, but there again he designed so much for the Alien franchise.
To quote Lady Jessica from Dune Part Two. "The beauty, and the horror."
No one does it better than Giger. No one.
Aesthetically, this is the best AI rendition I ever saw. Bravo bruh!
This really means a lot to me, thank you
These images were Beyond breathtaking. Take it from somebody who read the books this truly brings them to life.
Very nice words, thank you very much!
Giger is one sick puppy ,but this Dune is something else!
BEST HR G inspired production I've seen! Hands down beats all the classics and a little bit of Riddick in there
Thank you so much SlimBim 🥰
Honestly, watching this video felt like a truly seismic moment for me. It made me realise something profound that I hadn't really realised before. For some reason with this video - because I've seen AI produced art before on YT but it didn't hit me like this did - I suddenly grasped what AI will do for the future of art. The power of AI really became apparent. And the implications terrify and entrance me.
Can you tell me a little of how you curated these images? I want to know how much of your human eye was used to sift through bad images and pick the good ones, because that is directly related to how good at its job the AI is, and if you have to sift through a lot of rubbish to arrive at images like this then it's less impressive - so part of me is almost hoping you tell me that you did a lot of curation and cherrypicking, because then the implications for human artists and human art aren't quite so terrifying.
Also, I'd love to know what parameters you need to set in order for the AI to spit out images like this. Do you just feed it a big dataset of Giger and Dune artwork and then press a button? Or do you have to set certain parameters, certain framing decisions, where certain objects are in the shot etc.?
Amazing video, whatever your answers are. I'm genuinely shaken.
Hello The Sprawl,
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. We're thrilled that our video had such a profound impact on you, giving you a glimpse into the future of AI and art.
In creating these images, we used Midjourney, an AI image generation tool. We experimented with various complex prompts to generate the initial outputs, based on a dataset of Giger and Dune artwork. It took several attempts to achieve the desired images that aligned with our vision and some postprocessing in photoshop.
Our human touch came into play when curating the final set of images for the video. We carefully selected the most suitable images from the AI-generated outputs. This process highlights the synergy between AI and human creativity, where AI serves as a tool to assist and inspire artists, rather than replacing them.
We're glad you found our video amazing, and we appreciate your curiosity about the process. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or concerns. Thank you for your support!
@@khrom_ai I really did find it amazing. For some reason - maybe because Giger's work sank into my subconscious at an early age with Alien(and I thought Villeneuve's Dune was visually extraordinary too) - this video was qualitatively different in its impact from any of the other, similar AI videos I've seen.
Thanks for the explanation - that was what I suspected. It confirmed my beliefs about what artistic creation and good art really is, and to me it has to be some form of communication between conscious beings, with intents. If there's no intent behind something, if it's just a pattern that the wind blew in the sand, then it just doesn't qualify. It could be an extraordinarily beautiful pattern but it wouldn't count. And that's what a purely AI-generated piece of art would be: a pattern in the sand. Without at least some form of human curation it fails. It has no intention or meaning.
So there's a part of me that's quite confident that art isn't in trouble. But this video still made me very uneasy. Something in my worldview wobbled a bit.
אין כמו אימא בעולם!!!!!!!!!!!
That's how Alejandro Jodorowsky's movie would have looked like if all his ideas weren't stolen from him in the 70's.
GREAT and best wishes to HR Giger and all the fans, especially in Gruyère, Switzerland.
Hell, I never visited his bar 😭
I don't know if all of these images work for Dune, but they definitely would work for Chronicles of Riddick and the Necromungers.
The next to say this. Should I make a video about that too?
Это точно.!!! Ваш комментарий единственный, который убивает всех Дюнофилов наповал. Риддик - это первое, что рисует воображение.

This looks amazing and horrifying at the same time, like a nightmare in the desert. It does seem much more like a different dark fantasy/horror/sci fi setting and not Dune's practical setting technologically speaking. Inspiring.
These were created by AI? This is mindblowing! Giger's creations always appear to be living, even the static stuff. Love this.
Thank you ❤
Giger's style makes everybody look badass!
Oh yes :-)
It is not Giger's style.
Well to be fair. Denis Villeneuve's Dune was most definitely inspired in part by H.R Giger. And for those that don't know, The stylistic design aesthetic Of the 2021 film was also inspired in large part by Jean Giraud. Denis V was heavily influenced and inspired by Jodorowsky's unmade Dune. And the chief artist responsible for design of Jodorowskys film would have been H.R Giger. And funny enough, it was Gigers work on the unfinished Dune that put him in the cross hairs of Ridley Scott who later used him for Alien. So in a sense Gigers influence and style is heavily pervasive in the 2021 Dune film. The weird insect look of Dune is all indictive of Giger.
The conceptual arte of HR giger is: "THE BEST"
You are absolutely right!
Speaking as a professional artist who spent years developing the skills to create convincing visual images, I'm stunned by AI's capability. By the end of this century every form of physical and mental activity will have been overtaken. What are we going to do then?
Peter, I understand your concern, but I believe that AI and human creativity can coexist and even complement each other. Instead of seeing AI as a threat, we can view it as a tool to help artists enhance their work or explore new creative avenues. As technology evolves, it's essential to adapt and find ways to blend our skills with emerging tools, ensuring that human creativity remains at the heart of art.
אין כמו אימא בעולם!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the novels and love the movie. But this art style is incredible. If the movie looks like this, it will be fantastic. Great job...
Thank you so much ❤
Brilliant work!
Fantastic art work! The detail in the suits, worms, vehicles, & buildings/structures is 'next level'
Done by a computer...
Giger made every science fiction project he was involved in better
if you like his style, then of course yes
Not at all bothered by how these were generated as I suspect a very talented human directed the program to generate these. All the best major films have been using computer tools to design the amazing visuals we now take for granted in well crafted movies, commercials and video games. Kudos to whoever created these images. Looking forward to the upcoming generation of amazing artists.
I've seen a few of these Geiger/Dune creations, and they are all very different. I like the detail in this one. Astounding.

@@khrom_ai Thanks for the reply. I'm curious how much of the artistic result is from your effort, imagination and creativity, and how much of it was the result of the AI? AI is helping people understand only now, that Giger was so much bigger than just Aliens. His designs can do so much more than that.
I have been saying AI was going to get this good this fast for a long time. Yeah, folks payin' attention now, huh? This is freaking AWESOME!!!
😝
Wait until ai takes over your life. Not gonna be fun n games
Excellent art but does not work as Dune in most cases
why do you think that?
@@khrom_ai because the clothing worn in most pics would not be wearable on a hot desert planet. This does not apply to the rest of the galactic empire where it is fine. The other thing is that there were no intelligent "aliens" of none human descent in the galaxy that some pics May depict. There also appears to be a "robot" which would not be allowed under Butlerian law.
This algorithmic visual generation is something that AI is actually pretty useful at. Great way to sell a visual concept for a movie etc.
The artwork was truly surreal! "The spice must flow!"
Imagine an entire Dune movie being made by AI like this. I think its possible within 20 years.
More like two years. Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow was done almost entirely CGI and green screen and that was 20 years ago.
I think you will see this happen in the next 5-6 years
There is a 1980's, I think, movie called 'Looker' that has the premise of scanning famous actresses, using AI to make their ads and such, then killing the original all to save money. Back then it was SciFi, now they don't even need an original... XD
That’ll be the death of cinema as we know it.
@@SeanHogan_frijole That’s what was said almost 100 years ago when the talkies began.
Visually appealing, but it doesn’t work as Dune for multiple reasons. There are no clouds in Dune, only scorching sun. Where are the harvesters, the carryalls, the ornithopters, the city the Atreides lived in, the spaceships? Also, I have seen about 1 worm. There is nothing Dune about it. It’s just some H.R. Giger art with a desert background, that’s all. Where are some characteristic or recognisable scenes from the film or the book?
I tried to create some of the components you mentioned, the results were not good. I hope to improve this with the next update of the AI. Regarding the clouds, oh man you are right, I did not notice this. Thanks for your constructive comment!
Yes, and we need to see at least one ornithopter in these pictures.
Bingo! KKKKK! Sabem nada!
Bingo! At last someone cites the discrepancies in F. Herbert's work as a result of the proposed arts. They are visually interesting but do not represent Dune. I think Dune was not absorbed. Those who are commenting also do not know the work and the concept of the Duna universe. A bunch of empty nonsense from people who haven't read Dune and are posing as great experts! HAHAHAHA! They know nothing!
There are harvesters and ornithopters in this video. I agree with you though, this world contains far too much superfluous protruberance. The Still suits would be economical with materials for weight and mobility. A fold in the outer shell would be to radiate heat or protect a joint, not just be cumbersome and pretty. The body hugging conformity was a biproduct of functionality first, not badassery. That was the job of the suits' inhabitant.
This is just some biomechanical style stuff, but there's no Giger anywhere.
Phenomenal!! Seeing the sweat and tears into such creations is celestial beauty in the style of H.R. Giger. I'd love to see this movie! Everyone knows of the Alien franchise... but this is another great masterpiece.... I saw this style in the Shrike in "Hyperion Cantos" by Dan Simmons, and LOVED it! Keep going!

AI images are like dreams, just like Giger's visions. It is interesting how the AI made itself a new design itself, by coming with Giger's training. que universo fantástico na mente do grande artista Giger. Maravilhoso!!!!!!
Thank you very much!
Definitely in the vien of H. R. Giger. Unfortunate that his original Dune artwork was not integrated into the films. Very impressive.
Yes, thats a shame. Thank you very much vor your comment
Awesome dune concept art.. the imagination is brilliant
That makes me glad, thank you 🙏
FANTASTIC WORK!!!
This makes me really proud, thank you!
Absolutely awesome. A real pity that Villeneuve has not seen this before to start Dune movie shooting
No way. I do love Villeneuve work, much more than this.
I can literally imagine that being In Dune. It would have been perfect for it.
Hi Mike! We're glad you can envision these images fitting well into the world of Dune. It's fascinating to think about how H.R. Giger's unique style could have contributed to the atmosphere of the story. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and enthusiasm! 🏜️🎨
We need a movie version out of this. This can be done now with blender AI, AI animate, and eleven labs.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with this.
Le queda muy bien!!!¡un estilo futurista y algo inquietante.😮
❤❤❤❤los topteros son algo feos!!!y algunas mascaras dem 5:03
Totally stunning imagery
Thank you!
So graphics are awesome!
Thank you!
The Harkonnen visual style seemed pretty Geigeresque in the new movies.
This looks better than the movie if you ask me. More gritty, esoteric and somehow makes more sense.
Feel warmly embraced. Thank you
@@khrom_ai Thank you as well. I was talking a look on the generating site for the track, as well as on Stephane Pigeon's page - such a nice find.
Outstanding
We come back to Jodorovski's Dune, the famous film that never existed, but without which Alien would not have been made.
So much better than the recent dune remake that it's not even funny. You should have been their artistic production coordinator. This is what I would expect from a planet deep into the future. Everything feels eerie and alien which is what it would likely feel like to see something so far into the future.
Thank you so much for your kind words, 77Avadon77! We're thrilled that our H.R. Giger-inspired interpretation of Dune resonated with you and captured the eerie, alien atmosphere you envision for a futuristic planet. Your positive feedback and support mean a great deal to us. While we weren't involved in the recent Dune remake, we're excited to continue exploring and creating unique artistic expressions through AI. Stay tuned for more innovative content!
Dune like this would have been beyond amazing
Thank you for your comment, Shane! We're glad you enjoyed this interpretation of Dune in the style of H.R. Giger. It's always interesting to see how different artistic styles can bring a new perspective to a beloved story.
I swear I saw the Shrike in there somewhere. Stunning images, really cool.
Thank you so much!
I’m in love with this!
Can you do “The Chronicles of Riddick”?
Wow! This Dune version would be great!
Thank you, Marv _! We're thrilled that you like this version of Dune. It's always exciting to explore new interpretations and perspectives. We appreciate your support and will continue to create engaging content!
Great images well put together.
Thank you Nick!
