As someone who worked at Walmart and now works as in an Amazon Warehouse, it is possible that it was returned because the holiday was over. We used to see that at Walmart all the time, where folks would come in a day or two before the Super Bowl (Highlight of the National (American) Football League (NFL) for those unfamiliar), buy the biggest and shiniest TV they could get, and then return them the day after the Super Bowl after they mysteriously developed faults we couldn't find...The joys of no questions asked return policies.
This is a nice little set, Harrison, for someone who wants to put a train under the tree without the expense and size of Lionel or LGB. Unfold a sheet of fake snow, add some dollar tree buildings and pine trees, and you have an instant Christmas village under the tree without breaking the bank. Thanks for sharing. 👍🎅👍
All of the North American N scale trains came with Rapido couplers for the 3 or 4 decades. (late 1960's onward). 15 years ago, when I bought some N scale, there was a mix of Rapido and Kadee style/Microtrains knuckle couplers. I don't model N scale any more, but the reviews I see today all have knuckle couplers. I am surprised to see Rapido couplers on a new train set.
@@avlisk I imported a set to the Netherlands, and was happy that the train also has Rapido couplings. I can now interchange the train with my own rolling stock. By the way, impressed by the performance of the little engine.
Bought this set new. Set it up on December 1st. It runs around our coffee bar center island. We turn it on and it runs for about 10 hours a day. Only issue was with the EZ Track as a couple of sections did not snap as tight as the other pieces. Besides one cat attack and a giant 3 year old Monster Man wrecking the train, it runs great. My goal is to see how long the engine can keep going. Took it off the track once and oiled the engine and it still running like 10 days after we bought it. The couplers on the cars and the tender were bad right out of the box but there was a bag of upgraded couplers in the set. With a micro screw driver and magnifier to install them. Since then, the only two times the cars came uncoupled was because of the cat attack and three year old.
Super. My railroad only has one Christmas car, a refugee from a thrift store that I just had to save. The couplers, in certain places, are known as Rapido N scale couplers. Nice set. Trivia: N scale Christmas train sets usually include four straight tracks to help extend the loop around the presents or the tree. 💙 T.E.N.
What a cute Christmas train. I am a Christmas Eve baby so love Christmas time. Would be even nicer if it had a working headlight and color lit cars. But that is probably just me. Anyway, I enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. 💕😊💕🇺🇸
That's a great set. This looks like the perfect Christmas model train setup. I think I've seen this set in both N scale and HO scale in a few different hobby shops I've visited over the years. I normally run HO scale trains, but I've also dabbled around in O scale and N scale a few times. I much prefer HO scale, so I think I will pick up this set in HO scale at some point soon.
Cute little set. Love mine... had it for years and runs like new. Also picked up the Marklin Z-Scale Christmas set... Love that one too. Puts me big time in the Christmas Spirit. Happy Holidays.
Not bad for a relatively cheap and cheerful. Rather than run under a tree I think set up on a table with Christmas ornaments of appropriate size perhaps including a table top sized tree. Could be an inspirational gift to a child from eight to eighty plus (as long as they have good eyes and nimble fingers).
i believe that the little train, was hoping and wishing someone who loves trains would adopt it. You did and its running so well out of excitement........ it has aa home for the holidays!!!
Nice set Harrison, I see these pop up from time to time and they are pretty good looking sets as for the powerpack, while better than the ones used in the 80s and 90s sets, they're still pretty animec and can pretty much run only one DC locomotive at a time, they simply just don't have the power to run multiple DC or even DCC/SOUND equipped locomotives.
I had a lgb train set growing up and always set it up around the Christmas tree in the living room. If I had a smaller scale train set like this it would be in my room around a Christmas town with a decent size tree in the center
I ran the Bachmann Frontiersman train set under a small Christmas Tree sometime around the 2012-2014 period, but sort wore the locomotive out but I still display the locomotive and cars on a display self though.
At the places where you see a little bounce as the train goes by, check for a small amount of plastic "flash" on the inside of the rail, especially at the rerailer track.
Harrison, I would venture a guess as to say that set is NOS and someone ordered it and never opened it. Bachmann put those Rapido couplers from the factory on the older sets and the other ones in the bag just in case you wanted to be more realistic.
Hey Harrison Great run! Nice trainset in Bachmann did in N scale. Love the paint scheme. Close up shots make the set a little bigger. I wish i had one. Good demonstration & camera work. 👍
N Scale trains is very hard to work with at times. But that was a nice train any way. but I hope you like it. look like also the old west any way, have fun with it.
hey for $59.74 US thats actually very cheap for an N scale and you got a good deal. at 3:17 you mentioned about the couplers i looked it up those are called Rapido branded couplers that was the first type that was available for N scale then later on the Knuckle coupler came around. very cool set i gotta say.
Wow that's much better packaging than the one I got with my Bachmann N scale train set. The track pieces are on the back and tend to fall out when pulling the styrofoam out.. I love the set but putting it away is a pain some times. Anyways I'll have to look into that set if there's any available. Great video btw!
I think you got a good price for it it's a great Christmas train to have to run at Christmas time. You and you're family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I'm in Oregon McMinnville so not sure what it would cost for me here.
The couplers are 'Rapido" couplers. Commonly used by Bachmann for N-Scale in the late 90's and early 2000's. I have some cars and motive power, in N-Scale, from the mid-70's. Same Rapido couplers. They work, just have patience. 😁 Take 1 straight section out of ease side and place it in the curved sections so you have 3 curved, 1 straight, 3 curved, 1 straight, 3 curved and back to 1 straight. Put a 2 foot tall 'Table Top Tree" in the middle. Above all, HAVE FUN! 😁

I have the same set and you are right about the track. It is very tedious connecting the track sections together. I submitted a video of my train on your #smtxmastrain2021.
I just brought the polar Express battery power train from lionel for $29.99 found it at a supper market the last one. It has track talk, bell and horn sounds. I like your Christmas set you always find great deals. Is n scale the smallest train sets ?
I hope you dont mind me answering ,but z scale is the smallest from N scale . i do believe i looked up marklin sells trains sets not sure of other manufactures but they are wicked small.
Word of advice don't send it to bachmann if you ever have a problem just open it bend the tabs on the motor out a little and should work I sent the Durango and Silverton set back for repair and it worked one time after then I did what I told you and it is good but I need a new loco I was damaged while I repaired it but did not affect the drive I'm just telling you now even though I believe you can fix it like your other locos but I figured give the info I know I looks like a reskin and do not remove the traction tyres it is junk without
I wouldn't bother at this point. Years ago I sent a locomotive to them and the service was excellent but they've apparently become a lot more strict since then and doubled their shipping and service charge.
wonder if someone got it to use for Christmas with the intent to return it after. Just sort of borrowed it. Like some young ladies are won't to do with clothing. (at least as portrayed on TV) (g)

I saw this set at the hobby store in town today. They're cute!
This is so cool for a N scale train set I still have my birthday engine it's a NS SD70 from KATO
3:17 They are known as Rapido Couplers. As I understand it, they're most used/sold in European N Scale products. Merry Christmas.
Contact from europe confirming this.

For a beginner set, and a steam engine, not bad. IMO the only drawback, no lighted headlight.

I like the set. I think O scale will always be the best for trees but that's just a matter of preference.

Harrison it's designed for going with the little porcelain cottages or villages sets to make a Christmas scene like maybe on a coffee table
Would suit a small apartment with an artificial tree on a table. Merry Xmas.

Bachmann ezmate couplers come standard and you can replace them with rapido couplers, kinda would like to see this run on your n scale layout
I bought the same train set to add to my annual Christmas town for the grandkids.
Nice train set SMT. I do like the coloring to. I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Thank you so kindly.
Harrison, I would venture a guess as to say that set is NOS and someone ordered it and never opened it. Bachmann put those Rapido couplers from the factory on the older sets and the other ones in the bag just in case you wanted to be more realistic.
And I kind of figured Bachmann did that and they just stuck to the knuckler coupler on the car for the one that goes on the end of the train.
Hey Harrison Great run! Nice trainset in Bachmann did in N scale. Love the paint scheme. Close up shots make the set a little bigger. I wish i had one. Good demonstration & camera work. 👍
Awesome 🚂👍🚃
That e z track looks exactly like Kato unitary, Also Kato do 2 different Christmas sets and Kato n gauge are the Best n scale there is
Certainly not exactly like Kato UniTrak (not interchangeable either), but similar principle.
I will have to get some Kato track to compare.
I like the look

MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅 🎄 🎁
I've been contemplating buying that type of type of set.
Very nice set!
Video idea: You should get a Kato starter set.
I probably will but they aren't cheap.
i have a bachmann starter set iv had it for over 6 years and well it runs like a dream a little noisy but it is a bachmann train set
Glad to hear that.

Hey Harrison cute set.

I have that same exact set but in the Durango and silverton paint scheme
I made it in 13 minutes and I love your channel keep up the good work
It’s not your fault dude. The HO tracks popping but have the same issue sometimes
I went to a train show in Summerville, SC and I found SD-35, proto 2000 WM caboose and a GP 9m $18
Sometimes I run on30 scale trains under the tree which is basically Narrow Gauge O'scale that runs on HO track.
That's smart
Certified hood classic.
Sure is
