Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.

We follow Dave Ramsey's baby step and biblical principles. We are out of ALL debt and have $65K left on our mortgage and will pay it off in 2023. Don't go half way - go all in by getting on a budget and living on less than you make. We read his book, "Total Money Makeover and went through FPU. My husband was against it, but came around after an unhealthy ultimatum. I was DONE! You be DONE too.❣

Building wealth from nothing involves consistent saving, disciplined spending, and strategic investments. Begin by creating a budget to track expenses and identify areas for savings. Prioritize paying off high-interest debt and establishing an emergency fund. As you build a foundation, start investing in low-cost options like index funds, and focus on continuous learning and improving your skills for better income opportunities.

My father introduced Dave Ramsey to me when I was 18 but I didn’t too much care (being young & dumb) to listen & now 8 years later I’m 26 years old & something fell into my spirit to go listen to this show & I did. When I tell you I feel a spiritual change within myself that I’m so grateful for & regretful at the same time for not listening then but thank you God for allowing me to mature enough to follow my intuition. This show has been a blessing to me individually, spiritually, financially & to my marriage. Thank you Dave for your teachings & thank you God for the understanding you’ve given me at the age I am. I needed to hear this being in the generation where social media influences our behaviors & mindsets!!

I have been following the Dave Ramsey way now for about six years. Before that we were doing it on out own and doing well but I was able to tweek our resources once I started paying more attention to the Ramsey protocol. My husband was divorced and lost his assets and was in debt when we met and I would not married him until he was out of debt. To get there I supported him while he put his entire salary onto those debts and then we saved for our $7,000 wedding and we married in 1986. He had nothing saved for retirement so we had a LOT of ground to make up. We have been married 29 years now, have made our way to retirement and with the exception of our condo we have no other debts.

Now in highest income ever for my wife and I and no bills. Being debt free is a mindset not an exercise. It is freaking common sense, like Dave says. I followed his advice BEFORE I ever heard of him but he has influenced me throughout the years. If you are making money for a bank then you are NOT making money for yourself.

My takeaway from this wonderful conversation:
    - Winning does not heal you
    - Emotional maturity: The ability to delay pleasure is a sign of maturity. That's what grown ups do. Children do what feels good.
    - What money does is it's a magnifier it makes you more of what you are.

These are very valuable rules for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $89k now to put in the market.

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. I know someone who made over $350k in this recession influenced market, but to the best of my knowledge, it was through a financial advisor.

Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $21k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

I think the one thing most investors miss when calculating intrinsic value, is that they look solely at the history to estimate growth in the future. The growth rate is very important, it arguably should take the most time in valuation. The past 10 years could be unusually good/bad due to acquisitions/dispositions affecting financials. Look to the future and make your best judgements.
