The frustrating thing about Irish mythology is you can read about it incessantly and still not know anything! I have a comprehensive book compiled by W.B. Yeats on the mythological spine of Ireland; and it's still only boasts one recorded strain of these stories. Celtic histories are just as vexing to get a pulse on sometimes. I did write about the sea giants, the Fomorians, but in the story they're called the Fomori. They're giants because they grow indefinetely and sea giants because they originally were sea elementals that assumed humanoid form using blood magic. The Firbolg are the first human settlers in Eire (Ireland). They live in the swamp "kingdom", the Meath, under the rule of the Wicker King.
Do u think Danu ever looses track of what she’s the goddess of? Like, one day Brigid is just staring at her looking for poetry inspiration, and Danu doesn’t know whether she’s into her or just creepy
I've always loved the name "Dana" - another variation of Danu. I named one of my sled dogs Dana and she was an amazing leader. It may be worthwhile to ask the Ancestors about her. Thank you for the video. xo

I think the term fertility is found in many goddess' references because paganism is centered around nature. The fertility of such is vital to life itself for without fertile soil nothing will grow and life would have nothing to sustain itself with including humanity. This may seem foreign to us of the modern society since all many of us must do to find sustenance to visit our local grocery store, but we all know there was a time when paganism was practiced that this wasn't true and fertility was the thing that stood between life and death.

There actually isn't a goddess in Irish Polytheism named Danu, The Danu discussed in the video is a neo-pagan mashup of the Vedic Danu and the Celtic Dôn or Danann.
You may be a descendant of Vibhishan, Bali (not Baali) or Barbareek (his mother Maurvi being a Daanvi), or someone like them, i.e. a good spirited Daanav who survived those wars. There have been a lot of good Daanavs, not all were bad.
I researched pronunciations for these particular words and found a few different ways to pronounce them depending on the culture. But thank you for your input. Much love!

Edit: I saw your link, so I'm guessing 8 1/2? - - I'm debating getting the 16 Inch.. But someone received one that was all messed up :( While the 9 has good reviews. Even though smaller and supposedly not as detailed... I'm having a hard time due to if the 16 inch ends up damaged.. Thank you for any tips/advice. She's really calling me overall. I've never had a statue call me like this. Or Goddess/Deity. But she overall is. Maybe she's one of the Spirits that have been watching over me? Now I wonder.. 💚
Also, thank you so much for the Video! Really appreciate it. It really helped further my understanding of her. Now I know why she's been calling me! Thank you again
I heard that we used to be gods and goddesses in the past. I dont know if that is just mythology. Maybe that's why our ancestors have a deep connection with astrology.
I should point out that my pronunciation bases more from the Irish and Pictish Gealic. I noticed someone speaking Welsh down in the comments and they speak it quite differently, Can we get some Manx in here please! lol 😂
She is YOUR mother and Dagda's daughter, not his mother. Dagda is Daksh Prajapati, maternal grandfather (and leader) of Tuatha de Danann. Danube is not Danu, in most probability, she is Danaayu. Sanskrit word for 'Tuatha de Danann' (children of Danu) is Daanav. In some Indian dialects, the word becomes 'Daanna', which also means giant.
those names can be damned difficult to pronounce. i do recall in reading books based during pagan times before christianity in ireland them talking about these dieties

Tiamat from the sumerian creation myth, associated with the cosmic sea waters and the cosmic primordial rivers found in the milkyway, and later the 2 flowing rivers of the Tigris and Euphrates, as the hindu mythology goes, she gave birth to both the gods (angels) and demons. Tuatha De danaan are the easir gods, (watchers /annunaki) the fomorians are the jotun giants of norse mythology considered demons of chaos and vanir were the mortal woman which represented the earth such as jord and were associated with fertility. Any deity linked to water would be considered a fertility deity, danu, represents tiamat the mother of the earth, the gods, and the demons. All people once lived together in the fertile crescent Mesopotamia and after the tower of babel was destroyed, mankind were dispersed throughout the earth, taking their ancient Sumerian / Hindu creation myth with them. Sumerian myth became same as Egyptian, than Greek, than roman, Norse creation myth, celtic and so on
It was written in a Catholic Monastery where they tried to mix Pagan and Christian traditions. It is possible the Tu Da Dannon is a warped and altered version of the original story. Especially when they talk about the Milesians descending from Adam

LevittownHS Anthony Murphy is the guy. Look up the children of Lyr. The land of Tyr na Nog. The tragedy of the sons of Tuirean. They're all ancient stories from the Tuathe De Dannan. Closest to Irish bible. Older.

I think we need a more specific term for fertility. It just doesn't hit home and it's in many goddess references.
LunarWisdom totally...just thinking that I hear the term a lot and its meaning is so vague
@@vallll6658 I think of it in terms of Creative Force; the fertility and vitality of all life forms as the expression of Gaia/Sofia.
@@Cr0vv56 now THAT'S a good meaning of fertile...ripe for the picking often.

So the morrigan was the high priestess of black magik in that region or the grand high witch yet in the opposed order of white witches she was one of the 4 personaficationd of Gaia? Is this why they called her three faced because she was more than two faced?
I am not an expert on The Morrigan ... but I am aware that she is a triple goddess; she has more than one form or persona.
Im from grahwal india ,my last name is also DANU . she is our kul devi .i dont understand how it went to that far . i would like find the link between these facts with our goddess .
There actually isn't a goddess in Irish Polytheism named Danu, The Danu discussed in the video is a neo-pagan mashup of the Vedic Danu and the Celtic Dôn or Danann.

There is link bro.
Celtic people are the druhyu tribes in the vedas who were driven out of India.

At the same time he discussed how Lithuanian Language is practically like Sanskrit!😂😂😂
You may be a descendant of Vibhishan, Bali (not Baali) or Barbareek (his mother Maurvi being a Daanvi), or someone like them, i.e. a good spirited Daanav who survived those wars. There have been a lot of good Daanavs, not all were bad.
an tuatha de danann is pronounced "on too-a day dan-an"
mannanon mc lir is pronounced "man-ann-on mack-leer"

I researched pronunciations for these particular words and found a few different ways to pronounce them depending on the culture. But thank you for your input. Much love!
Crystal cruise ..
I've always heard it pronounced..
Two-a-ha Dee Dawnan
Cat Momma I thought it was pronounced “two-etha- dee-duh-nun”
June Cruz ...the TH is silent. I don't know why.
My GreatNan was Welsh and I pronounce it the way she did. It could very well be said other ways, depending on where you're from.

It is listed at the end of the video ... the title is Skye Cullin and it is from Kevin MacLeod.
You should make podcasts 👍🏻

What size is your statue of her, here?
There are apparently different sizes.

I'm debating getting the 16 Inch..
Yes, it was the 8 1/2. I purchased her from Sacred Source. :)
@@CricketSong Thank you very much for the response!!
I ordered her from Amazon because I wanted the larger version... Really hope it works out.
Also, thank you so much for the Video! Really appreciate it. It really helped further my understanding of her.
Now I know why she's been calling me! Thank you again
I realy enjoyed this video... Is Danu=Diti.
From the research I have done Danu seems to transcend many cultures and has adopted numerous names so it is possible it is the same goddess.
Indrojyoti Dattatryey
No bro.
Both are different, although both are wives of rishi kashyapa.

I heard that we used to be gods and goddesses in the past. I dont know if that is just mythology. Maybe that's why our ancestors have a deep connection with astrology.
Perhaps. I hadn't heard that concept, but it is interesting to ponder it. Much love. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for help with the pronunciation.
Glad to help anyone who cares enough about the subject to make a video about it. Good on ya! Slaintè Math !
I should point out that my pronunciation bases more from the Irish and Pictish Gealic. I noticed someone speaking Welsh down in the comments and they speak it quite differently, Can we get some Manx in here please! lol 😂
When I was researching pronunciation I did notice there were a few ways to say it. :P
Thank you for sharing this information. It is much appreciated. Love to you.
those names can be damned difficult to pronounce. i do recall in reading books based during pagan times before christianity in ireland them talking about these dieties
+Lippy Witch Yeah, no kidding! I had to do some serious research before I even attempted the video and still feel like I butchered the names.
goddess danu also. mention in. oldest scripture of all time rigved. hindus also warship of goddess danu... so much similarities in Hinduism and western theories. there must be some link
I agree! There must be some link!
Yesssssssssss!
She is Rig Vedic goddess mother of Danavas Clans which migrated outside of Bharat.many eu river names are derived from Rig Vedic Sanskrit root word danu like danube, dnieper, don etc.there is also genetic similarities between eu and Bharatiya.like r1a,r1b haplogroups are comman.

So what u want to tell her?
They know aryans ( Indo Europeans)
And am sure they support the aryan migration Theory because they are Europeans
@@adityaraj2447 Whop is this in response to?

Sumerian myth became same as Egyptian, than Greek, than roman, Norse creation myth, celtic and so on
Thank you for sharing this information. Much love to you!
Is it really mythology if people believe in it? Like will people in future call our religion mythology?
I imagine they would.
Sub titles in italian , please. 🙏🙏🙏
I don't speak Italian, but let me see if there is an option through UA-cam.
Bo4 anyone?
Emilio Galvan yes
Yes. So interesting isnt it?
This is not accurate, a lot about the gods of the celts was destroyed. So where did this info come from???
I found the information I shared in books and websites, but I cannot state where they gained their information from. Much love to you!
It was written in a Catholic Monastery where they tried to mix Pagan and Christian traditions. It is possible the Tu Da Dannon is a warped and altered version of the original story. Especially when they talk about the Milesians descending from Adam
Irish pronunciations are tough for non speakers. Lol Iam from the tribe of the wandering Danni. St Sara is the hidden deity of our devotions. Christ is Greek/Roman state, bullshit for the Plebes. No peoples, have suffered as much slavery & oppression, for so long on this earth.
I agree! Irish pronunciations are difficult!
Wait, what r the wandering Danni?
😭
St sarah
danavas worshiper of river goddess danu were either expelled/lost the war or migrated out side india and settle first in danube ukraine region hence these lang ukranian, russian, lithualian are very close to sanskrit. these ppl then went westwards and named every river as danu till they reached western most point of eurashia that in ireland and settled there. dnipro, don, dnister, dneiper etc etc all there names are corrupted version of danu. most probbaly pre christian europeans knew their ancestors came from india. these danavas could well be yamnaya tribe?
Thanks for sharing that information. Much love to you!
So am i the only hearing that the word lover is associated with sex so are you trying to say she had sex with her own son 🤔 just saying
I will have to go back and watch the video. It's been years since I shared the information, but I can say with confidence that within the mythologies of many pantheons there are stories of those relationships between the gods. It is important to keep in mind that much of these mythologies are symbolic in nature.
Sorry for being ignorant, but is there a problem for a foreigner worship gaellic gods ? Like, most of the myth says about the natives and etc... Sorry again for being stupid haha
I don't believe there is a problem with it, but I'm sure there are others who disagree with me. Much love!
