Since religion is a part of the social science realm, we have to take classes that discuss many of the things Matt encountered when he was getting his MA. I love to hear his perspective because I find myself in his position quite often, where it feels like most everyone in the room is thinking the same way and I am the only critical voice in the discussion.

When it comes to the burlesque vs strip club thing, I don't think Matt knows what he's talking about. Chicago has a burlesque show place called untitled supper club that's better than any strip club I've been to. First, there women in the audience and bar area so it wasn't all creepy honey dudes like at a strip club. And the dancers were sexy and doing great shows unlike a strip club where they awkwardly and shamelessly walk up u and start flirting.
All the Burlesque I've ever seen is literally the equivalent of cringey drag for straight people, and an opportunity for the women to go on stage to pretend like they are sexy when they aren't - ergo they can only do it in a context like burlesque where they can play it off like its a "joke" or "art" so they feel safe and confident. Furthermore, who the FUCK wants women in their audience at a strip club anyway? I'm fucking gay, and even I don't want them at my shit where they ruin the vibe of male sexuality and annoy the shit out of everyone except for the minority of gay men and betas who exist to be clowns for women, and end up just like them. Most straight men I know who like strip clubs consider straight women going to strip clubs to be the worst thing that has EVER happened to them. They will spaz if they aren't allowed in anything, even when they don't want to really go - meanwhile almost every straight man would rather be caught DEAD then willingly involve themselves in women's BS.
