- Today is me and Rebekah's Wedding Anniversary. We plan to go our for dinner tonight, so I need to get as many chores done before we leave. I also need to pick another load of Cracked corn and mix up some pig feed. There is always plenty of chores that need done around the homestead.

We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acres homestead. We just finished building our log cabin overlooking our pond. We are trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey living the rural life and developing our property and becoming more self sufficient.
I really enjoyed hearing about your history together and seeing photos of you and the boys growing up.

I remember taking my 14 yr old son to see Niagara Falls!!!....his comment was, "if I knew we were coming here to just look at water...I would have stayed home with Grandma!"

Great family pictures at the end. In late 2000’s most young boys just wanted to stay inside and play video games. As your boys get older I bet they will really cherish the outdoor memories.
I definitely took it for granted growing up, but I always tell them how grateful I am of those trips now
Thanks for sharing a bit of your history as its always nice to hear how people started together. Well done on 16 years, it seems that most people these days don't want to or cant be bothered to make a marriage work. As you both know you have highs and lows in any marriage and if you think of the highs when your in the lows, then you can work things out. After 5 years of courting, I married my wife in 1978, so we are on 43 years this September and have known each other for 48 years. It wont be long before you reach this milestone as once your over 40 years old time flies!

After I retired from dairy farming I got interested in feeding the birds.
The first time I bought a 40 lb bag of Black Sunflower seed, I was amazed at reading the sack.

Cool story and great pics. I couldn't believe when I heard on another video you had adult kids. You both don't seem old enough which is a good thing. I kind of admire when people start their family young and have the energy to put into raising them. Then they are still young to enjoy the empty nest afterward also. I think people these days put their careers first and wait way too long for the family.

I have a special place in my heart for nurses. I taught nursing for about 38 years. My first teaching job was at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois. Taught there 9 years. Great place and lots of fine people in southern Illinois. I guess that's why I enjoy your channel so much. Working full time and going to Nursing school is very difficult and only a few survive. You both are hard workers. God bless.

You should put a little rope on that gate so that once you drive through you can just pull it closed without getting off. A farmer I used to work for had a setup like that.
