Happy to see you two happy together. My wife and I, married 60 years next April, worked together in a small business most of our married life. Would not change a single day, even the ones we did not always agree with each other on. We are still individuals but one unit. Wish you guys a long and happy time together.
Enjoy watching each episode. Grew up in Brazil, Terre Haute area on a small farm like yours. Now I live in Clayton outside of Indy. Watch A Few Acres Farm too. You guys are offering so much knowledge for first time farmers! Keep up the good work! I’d rather watch your videos than watch regular TV programs.
It's so fun to see Rebekah become such a natural on the videos. She's really come out of her shell ❤️ Those chickens were HUGE! Any thoughts on raising broad breasted white turkeys next year? I sure hope when all is said and done and all of your meat is in the freezers and all of your pantry is set for winter that you dona tour for us 😁👍 Thanks for the video! Loved it
Just seen your video using landscape fabric. Thought you might be interested to know I developed the fabric when I worked in UK for Amoco fabrics many years ago. It can be cut without fraying if you use like a heated hacksaw blade. The product was called MYPEX. REALLY LIKE YOUR VIDEOS
I like baked Chicken a lot better than Turkey. Looks like a successful process of producing a supply of meat for the winter. The turkeys will make excellent base for turkey soup. Bad thing about living in the country is that you never get a day off, there is always something to address on your days off. Good thing about living in the country is that the peace and quiet is the best way to enjoy life. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Amen!!!
Oreo is a well built steer! He looks as good as the ones at the Livestock Show. Yall have done a very good Job of transforming this plot of land into a productive farm
Thanks for sharing with us Evan and Rebecca . We really enjoyed Rebecca and Fireball THERE"S MOMMA routine. That was so cute and funny too. Awesome amount of chicken meat you will have available through out the winter. And the rest of the camps yet to come. And then venison too. You have worked hard for all of it and deserve good food. Thanks for sharing the fun too. Fred.
Keven you have a lot of energy, I am glad to see Rebecer (spelling ?) i has some boots, open toes are scary around farm stuff. Not only is she a doll she seems to share in your dream and is willing to help, be sure thats worth a million bucks
Rebecca my family is the Bush family from Terre Haute. The football Field is Bush Field and Marthann Bush had the Rockettes. It is a small world. I have family in Paris also.
Hi guys, I love your channel. I did my first batch of meat birds this year and meat birds are a lot of work. One thing I must ask; Do you cut the heads right off? I hope so!!! Many homesteaders just cut the neck to "bleed out." That is the Jewish way (halal) to torchure an animal. They still bleed out with the head off and it is instant death no suffering. Many years ago we used to lop the head off with an axe and the bird would run around with its head off. Nerves. It always amazed me that legs would work with the head off. But PLEASE teach people to do it the right way. No suffering of the animal. Love your content.
Sounds like raising the turkeys might not be as good as the chickens so I guess the turkeys will go by the wayside. Just wanted to mention that I got my delivery of the Hat and T Shirt I ordered. Thanks for the fast delivery. To the general public - they have top notch merchandise and at reasonable pricing. Would make great Xmas stocking stuffers.
If there is any nails they would be around the pad that we have electric wire around. And no I haven't used the magnet yet. But we will when we clen it up.
Seems like raising chickens gets the best return on feed, time, losses and source of fertilizer for next year's garden bedding soil. It's an all-around win-win farming situation.
I built a plucker similar to yours several years ago. I put wheels and a handlebar on it so I can move it like a handtruck. Makes it easier to move it around. That and I keep a cut bucket over the motor while processing.
For things like grass piles, feathers, and other light things a snow shovel is great. Even though I live in Texas but I have a snow shovel. I actually shoveled snow with it one time and have had it for twenty years. I use it for cleaning leaves and other flower bed trash.
Can you talk more about your orchard? I’m getting into Apple trees. And berries. Your types of trees, cross pollinating, pruning for spring. Good stuff
The Coca-Cola bottle was designed in Terre Haute, but I'm not certain it was ever manufactured there. Nice birds. Our turkeys on the farm were the typical black or a breed called "Bronze". Those we're a reddish brown and white. In a summer's time they were all 16 to 25 lbs. They free ranged and we fed ground feed as well. As far as I recollect, they were what are called heritage breeds today. One Thanksgiving we butchered a 3 yr old tom. He was 45 lbs dressed. Mom had to split him in half and do two roasters because he was too big for our roasting pan. He sure was tasty though!
Next time I’d give the broad breasted whites a try for meat turkeys. They are fantastic! They are like the Cornish of turkeys lol beautiful job on the chickens!
Wanted to suggest being careful with them a s they are getting older, even though castrated, aggressiveness can still be a problem, because of their strength. Same issue with a ~200lb hog or more.
I have watched Rebecca clean the water containers for the cows drinking water and I was wondering if you somehow installed an aerator from a large fish tank it maybe would keep the algae from growing in it. It would be like the pond aerators that you use to keep the pond clear. Would save having to cleaning whenever you have to move it? Mind you I really have no idea if it would even work. Love and Peace. Blessed Be. Doug.
Great Job you 2! It would have been just funny (and Great) to watch the Turkey "Capture")! You 2 are Great! Keep'em coming. I super enjoy your Videos!!
Someone else on a You tube channel told me that to raise meat Chickens from babies until processing cost him right at ten dollars to raise, which ain't cheap, but he knows what they were raised on!
Always best Evan to check all your equipment physically so you'll KNOW it works - like that fence charger 😁. Been there myself several times. Great video you two and great content as well. And it's good to see those freezers getting filled for the winter also.
That was some big chickens! Made your turkeys look so small. Anyway, I'd say your set up for winter with a well stocked freezer, and you haven't done your steers yet! Oh boy, How many freezers do you have? LOL
Did any critters get in the feathers in the compost pile. I would think it would take forever for them to breakdown. Might it have been better to burn them?
I am wondering how many weeks? They can put on an amazing amount of weight in just one week. We used to try to butcher at 7 weeks and ended up with 6-7 lb dressed birds. At 7 wks, we could see just a little bit of loss in tenderness, so that was our limit on growing time.
They had the name on the bottom of the coke bottle on each city where they were filled and bottled I lived in Galesburg IL we had a Coke plant Rock Island IL they probably had them all over the country I know a lot of people collect them
I have great memories of the Coca-Cola plant in Terre Haute. They had a window set up so the outside public could watch the process. I’m going back to the early 60s.
I'm glad you had such good luck with the chickens. Sorry the turkeys were so small but it was a good experiment. At least you know they were fed well and only had one bad moment. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Dear Evan, Google has the complete set of actions to operate you round baler. It seems that something is being done in the wrong order???????Good Luck matey, you are both brilliant stars and the show is wonderful. Best wishes from The Isle of Wight UK xrogerx
Yeah, like wth, I know he only keeps them like two months too. I don’t know how that’s possible. Wondering what the taste is like for those chickens, maybe cheaper, but it probably doesn’t taste any much different than what you get at the store.
In my mind I can see a fox burrowing into your compost pile looking for the 'birds attacked to those feathers'. When the fox only finds feathers, 'What the heck kind of cruel trick is this?'
@@CountryViewAcres too big , I just gave it to my friend he was having a foot ball party , no body wants those sizes any more. 17 to 20 are the best sizes.
I would have been scared to process this one. Sure would have been fun to watch this.
9.5 pounds is a total beast chicken, congrats

I think Rebekah is one of those people you should listen to ... a LOT! 🙂 And even cows know to follow sugar around ...

Hello Evan Rebecca looks great. Have a great evening.

Awwww the animals love you Rebecca!!!! That is adorable.
Rebekah & Evan "Mucho Grande" Turkey & Chicken "Pluckers". Job well done!
Great to see Rebekah on the videos too. She’s a natural with the animals. It’s the nursing experience 😁

Thanks for the update on the Coke bottle. I would have been floored, had it been from Green Cove Springs, FL!!
Grew up using a wire hanger with about six inch long thin, V shaped hook to catch them by their leg and foot. Works very well.

Nothing better than a bit of a chase to get ya din din.
Roll that fence up and tuck each end in a 5 gal bucket and tie them together.
Glad to see Rebekah in more of the video videos! Thank guys ❤
Hope you got to relax. That was a busy several days for you two!!!!
Always Love watching you guy's! Rebecca really is the animal whisper!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I laughed so much when you forgot to turn the electric wire off. At least you know it works!!
love your videos. thanks for sharing. need more rebecca dialogue , you re a wonderful couple.
LOVE TO WATCH YOU GUYS

Wow that's awesome you are such a beautiful couple 💗 that is what I call real love.
I raise chickens for over 40 years they can grow very well we sell them at around 2.7 kg but they can reach 4 kg.
Another good vlog! Hi Rebekkah and Evan. Those chicken are something, more meaty than the turkeys. Great harvest. thanks for sharing.
I found that if you add corn oil to the permethrin it last longer and they're not as afraid of it
Hi again, have you run your magnet over the grass around the concrete pad ... just in case there are any nails etc for the cattle to tread on.
If there is any nails they would be around the pad that we have electric wire around.
And no I haven't used the magnet yet. But we will when we clen it up.
We raised backyard chickens (Cornish cross) they averaged 18 lbs each. Three of out turkeys were over 45 lbs. BEST meat we ever had. (Idaho)
I really love watching you guys. I have been since you had the house built. I wish I could live that life style. 👍👍👍

Momma knows best ! LOL!
Need to get your power washer Northern California
good job guys on getting all of the chickens put in the freeze. the cows are looking great. great video thanks for sharing.
In the end, those turkey bones will make some awesome broth. 👍❤️
That was so shocking 😮😅 lol 😂 followed you all the way to Rebekah. All hailed. Lol…well with this cull Tom’s offspring are bound to grow plump 🤞
You guys are awesome
In the videos I've seen the turkeys were loose. Do you think maybe they would gain better in a chicken tractor ? You have a beautiful place.
We did 50 chickens today, our biggest was 10.4 lbs. They were all between 6 and 10 lbs.
For things like grass piles, feathers, and other light things a snow shovel is great. Even though I live in Texas but I have a snow shovel. I actually shoveled snow with it one time and have had it for twenty years. I use it for cleaning leaves and other flower bed trash.
Becca, you're a natural, very mooooving, so cool!

Wow. That a big bird
Hello from Utah. Love your vids!
You guys make me smile😄
Thx
Those chickens are huge!!
Awesome. Great size chickens.
You should buy a round bale feeder with the cone hay saver. Enjoy your videos!
You both are doing a great job with your presentations. Really enjoying your videos and content. Blessings from Ohio 😊

Very good video...it's so relaxing for me...enjoy very much...Your farm is so Grand !
Palm turkeys are the smallest or if not one of the smallest turkeys.
Empty chicken tractor makes me sad. But next spring it will be full again!
I would use old skis under the chicken enclosure, might make it easier to move or slide around ;-)
WoW big.

Four.

Hi Evan & Rebekah from New Zealand. That's some massive meat birds. How much would the turkeys have cost if you'd purchased them as chicks?
I think turkey chick's were around $12 a piece.
LoL that was Funny I guess the wire and electric wire is working fine 😂 I would love to see you Keep Fire Ball and not send you to Camp
Have u guys thought about putting wheels on the chicken plucker to get rid of the feather
You should be able to adjust the forks.
There you go again... Shocking yourself🤣😂🤣😂

evan use yer hat to press down on the electric wire or a stick or yer boot to push wire down
You should maybe mount your chicken plucker on a pallet.
The feathers fall out the bottom. So you want the bottom open.
Are you sure you didn’t mix the chicken and turkeys while weighing them?? How were those chickens even walking?? Our chickens average 5lbs.
Yeah, like wth, I know he only keeps them like two months too. I don’t know how that’s possible. Wondering what the taste is like for those chickens, maybe cheaper, but it probably doesn’t taste any much different than what you get at the store.
👍how old are you 3 cattel
Different feed? different hatchery? Different growing time? That is a significant difference.
Different hatchery. Same feed.
@@CountryViewAcres which hatchery? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.
Meyer hatchery
@@CountryViewAcres thanks.
Big chicken
Quick question?? Why “age” them in the refrigerator?
The Rigamortis has to release but they need to chill to keep them fresh.
Yes rigamortis release. Helps the meat be more tender.
@@CountryViewAcres thanks for the tip. Wish I’d known that before I stuck my eight turkeys in the freezer haha
In my mind I can see a fox burrowing into your compost pile looking for the 'birds attacked to those feathers'. When the fox only finds feathers, 'What the heck kind of cruel trick is this?'
Is there a video on how you made the plucker?
Believe it was purchased.
Someone else made it. I bought it off them.
I had a 56 lb turkey last year dressed at 43 lb. Lol
That is huge. Our turkeys last year dress around 15-18 pounds. I can't imagine 43 pounds.
@@CountryViewAcres too big , I just gave it to my friend he was having a foot ball party , no body wants those sizes any more. 17 to 20 are the best sizes.
I said to myself, if he drops the chicken plucker, he's gonna regret not listening to his wife!
Is that fly spray safe to fall in their feed?
