over many years ive found that only clipping one wing is better if you have broody hens l only clip up one side of the wing feather these means that she can still keep the chicks warm
My brother was losing chickens to hawks and owls until i told him to go to all black chicks since then he has lost none, the hawks and owls think they are crows and wont risk taken a whipping
Hi Evan & Rebecca, I am elderly, 74 years young and I have watched over 50 videos from you in the last few days and the way you treat all the animals, the chickens, turkeys, goats, ducks, pigs and bulls appeals to me greatly. 👍👍👍 I myself am not a farmer although as a child I wanted to be one. You give the animals, as long as they live before they are slaughtered, everything their hearts desire! That is the way of farming in my eyes! I watch a lot of UA-cam and specially anything related to the farm scene and you guys jump far way above that by yards. I also see a lot of commercial farmers too who only think about dollars instead of the animals. Congratulations on your way of keeping animals !!!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 Greetings from Belgium.
Your shirt is the reason she was so calm. Her thought is, I got you back Ha Ha Ha. Enjoy your videos and watching you work with the animals. I saw you put the seasoning on the chicken. I found some at Dollar Tree called Memphis Style BBQ seasoning. It is very good and a large container of it is $1.25. I think you would like it.
My daughter Alli had a Pot Belly 🐖. They are very smart and are easy house trained. We just called her Pig. She liked to sleep in a big Costco dog bed with our Dalmatian and our Boxers. They all got along fine.
Hello guys, This was really an enjoyable video with many things to do but each one of them in themselves was quite interesting. I really like how you split the garden hose into a “Y” joints to create a Sprinkler for the pigs. They sure love that almost as much is they love them scrambled eggs w/ bread. In all the years I’ve been watching pigs, I have never seen one pig lay his whole body over the entire amount of food so no one else can get any!! I think it was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. It reminded me of a few people I know and I’m sure everybody can think of someone like that themselves even though they don’t literally throw themselves on the food they pile their play so high and make sure they go through the picnic line or the holiday line of food first and they have so much food on their plate you wonder if there’s any left for anyone else. Anyway those are some cute pigs and they really had fun playing in the sprinkler😊❣️ I don’t think I ever saw anyone clips of wings of their turkey. She should give you a run for your money before you Caught her !!! I don’t know about anybody else but that kind of bothers me when you clipper wings because it looks like it hurts but I know it doesn’t. I’ve had many of it tell me so… They say it’s like cutting up toenail and if it keeps her safe then I’m totally understanding of it. Anyway thanks for a great video & thank you for Being such sweet people😊♥️♥️
You guys are so good to your animals. Great animal husbandry going on here. It is great to see the calm voice you use when talking to your animals. They respond to tone just like dogs. I cringe when I see "homesteaders" having pigs and no wallow or shade. Or "homesteaders" that buy property and animals before they have proper housing for them. Then they wonder why they jump fences and or get sick and die.
Found your channel from a recommendation from Pete at Just a Few Acres Farm. Love the channel and enjoy watching your small farm come alive. - Amanda, Concord, NC
Nice cleanup on the old chicken coop!! I was secretly coveting the concrete blocks 😁. I could see a nice raised bed being built with them. I've always been pretty much of a perfectionist in what I do. I'm not saying it's always necessary, just how I'm wired. So it's nice to watch someone else work who "sees" things the same way 😄👍. I really appreciate what you two are building together there. Well done!!
I really like your grapple, it does a great job picking those blocks and post as well as the other debris from the old chicken coupe. Yeah, 13 chickens is what we have too, with a refrigerator full of eggs. I like your turkey, Gertie, she's adorable, obviously she didn't care for you holding her, while your wife cut her wing. Nice video, thanks for sharing, I hope you all have a nice evening and a great weekend.
Hey Gang, Evan, you can relocate the pigs fertilizer, shovel or pitchfork to a near by location, never close to the feeder, Great Posting God's Good Blessings to you and your beautiful family keep up the great work love U guys XOXOXO stay safe and healthy
A pole with a heavy wire nailed to the end and the end of the wire is doubled back on itself fairly tight the loop about the diameter of your little finger and then flair out the end so you have a hook...( about 6" long and 5" wide) . will make catching chickens or turkeys much easier you just walk up and use the pole hook to grab their leg ! and you gott'em ! easy !
Love your channel! Reminds me of my childhood, growing up with all of the animals around......goats, chickens and cows even had baby raccoons at one time!
Had a similar problem... Found a continuous nylon sock material and made some longish loose sand bags. Move the coop, just throw the sand bags around it. Worked alright.
Wonderful vlog. Great content. Rebekah is better than Dr. Doolittle, Your still finding tires, wow! How did the garden do this year? How about the fruit trees? Anymore problems with the wasp eating your fruit? Thanks for taking us along.
Great productive day on your property you guys are a great team and very hard workers, and have a great sense of humour, your three little pigs will become giants under your care really enjoyed the video, very good camera work and editing very entertaining thanks for sharing!!👍👍👍👍
Said it before, I love my grapple. I used a small sledgehammer to straighten my grapple tines. It worked pretty well but I really don't like the idea of beating on my grapple like that. I need to get a long metal tube like you used. I sent an email to the company about that problem and suggested adding a reinforcing backing plate to the grapple tines like they did for the rake tines. I don't think it would take a whole lot, even just a relatively thin plate would probably be a big help. You're pretty handy with a welder so maybe it's something you could add yourself.
Dude. You break everything! 🙂 LOL on that piggie potty! "You guys really get into your work." Whatta hoot! "My turn!" A little girl and her critters. This was "funny" day!
You can use mequite or hardwood nut blocks soaked in water 💧 prior to cooking and place on your propane grill with your pork or chicken during cooking for smoke flavor !
Funny, I had one gilt that would lay in the feed trough. Also pigs will naturally use the area as far away as they can from where they eat. They know that their own poop is not good around their feeding area. Also I have friend that uses a rotating sprinkler hooked up on a timer close to his pig wallow the pigs love it.
You did a great job fixing the grapple, Evan, now be gentle with it. Nice to see you cooking for Rebecca; I love to see that. You clipped the turkey's wings, now the peta folks will probably chime in. Love your videos and I always look forward to them.
Always interesting projects you are like me I save concrete blocks you can never have to many for different projects I got a bunch of concrete blocks from tearing down a couple house trailers for people around town with my dad we don't tear them down anymore though. My dad also said you was a tech on one of the machines he ran when you and he worked at TRW but Dad retired from there 4 years ago i was watching a video on my phone and he said I know that guy from work
If I were a betting man, I'd be tempted to hedge bets that Ms Rebecca won't be able to put Fireball in the freezer. But I kinda know better. However, if it were my wife in that situation, Fireball would become the longest living steer in history.😊
Noticed a gap at the top of your chicken tractor near the door support. A raccoon can get in there if they find them. If they can get their heads in it they will fit. I've waged war on the racoons here in Kentucky.

Straighten out a close hanger, bend a small hook on one end......easier to use it too hook one of their legs.....great chicken/turkey catching device

Pigs sunburn very easy also. Covering themselves in mud keeps them from getting sunburned.
You and Rebecca had a good day and accomplished quite a bite around the farm.
Rebecca, i love your Tshirt!
I really look forward to watching your videos. There’s just something about the way you present the farm
My daughter Alli had a Pot Belly 🐖. They are very smart and are easy house trained. We just called her Pig. She liked to sleep in a big Costco dog bed with our Dalmatian and our Boxers. They all got along fine.
Never thought I'd be jealous of someone else's grass. But dang that some nice green grass.
you can put a drip irrigation mister with a timer and run it overhead to the trees and get the wallow back away from the fence put one up for our dogs

The Grapple is my favorite farm implement!😏
I live to watch your videos,so calming.Great job on everything you do Evan.
Congratulations to 101k subscribers! That is quite an increase over the last week!
Fireball has a cowlick! 🤣
What about small sand bags around the moveable chicken coup to block the holes? 🤔
God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸
Great t-shirt Rebecca! Love that scripture! Nice relaxing video, thank you!!
Enjoy your video

Gotta say that grapple sure comes in handy. Seems like you have really gotten the hang of it too
You guys are humble,and fun
I like her t shirt

It's always a good day when Evan posts a video.
Love watching you guys and all the animals. We were just wondering where your dogs are at and why they are not with you like they use to be?
Looks like you've got some useful cinder blocks for future projects.
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!

Hello from the Netherlands and thanks for the video. Sincerely, Hollandduck
Good job, kids!
What trade are you in Evan? You have some skills man
I work industrial maintenance repairing equipment. Mostly electrical side of things.
A lot of the "skills" come as necessity as it seems for a lot of farmers. Most of the people I know and call upon when I am in need are farmers.
Good to know about the pigs bathroom routine 🤣🙈 love how you explain these little details 👍
You are a master chef
Good looking soil
U should get some stuff to fix the wood shed up and make it look like your barn's so you can have it nise and good shape
Love your channel! Reminds me of my childhood, growing up with all of the animals around......goats, chickens and cows even had baby raccoons at one time!
I really enjoyed this
I was watching trying grab the Turkey's ! They make chicken hook it is used to grab the legs of poultry ! We would run into a net !
I enjoy Rebecca and her t-shirts! Great video's guys. Thanks.
Im thinking of using poly tubing. Way cheaper than hoses, easy to modify and repair.
Had a similar problem... Found a continuous nylon sock material and made some longish loose sand bags. Move the coop, just throw the sand bags around it. Worked alright.

Very nice video. Like all the activity
Hi..... Evan and Rebecca, thank you for showing your video homestead chickens duck farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🦃🐩🐕🐈🐐🐄🐖🐝🌱🌹🌻🌼🌸🌷🏡🎥👍👍👍
Great productive day on your property you guys are a great team and very hard workers, and have a great sense of humour, your three little pigs will become giants under your care really enjoyed the video, very good camera work and editing very entertaining thanks for sharing!!👍👍👍👍
Did you get the wet area in the steer area of the lower barn to drain and dry?
Pigs are so cute😍, good job with the wing clip too
I had to repair my pitboss. Ace hardware had the part for "treager" and its an exact match. Hope that helps
Thank you! Love your channel!
I just love you and Rebecca, I watch y'all's videos over and over. Keep up the great work I love watching y'all 😘
Hello nice work Evan,Rebecca you both have a great day.
Did you consider getting a grain bin instead of the grain wagon. Iam sure it would have cost more.
We smoked a chicken the other night it was so nice! But very Smokey!
Great job's well done! Always enjoy watching what ever you have going on!
Evan, any time for Sunday worship?

...good to see you fine tuning the grapple, good one, keep safe...
Thx
Would it be worth reinforcing those grapple teeth by welding some additional pieces on the sides to stiffen them up?
I boil my chicken pieces a bit before I put them on the grill.
So tender!
Look at the 1600 series Pit Boss from Lowe's, have been cooking on it for 2 yrs. approx. and cooks GREAT has some features you will like!
Congratulations for yours 100K subscribers, regards from Mexico.
You should try Camp Chef for a new pellet grill upgrade
If you need to replace your pellet grill check out Recteq. Ive had mine for 5 years+ live in northern Illinois and use it all year round.
You did a great job fixing the grapple, Evan, now be gentle with it. Nice to see you cooking for Rebecca; I love to see that. You clipped the turkey's wings, now the peta folks will probably chime in. Love your videos and I always look forward to them.
Roll Tide!

Evan love the videos great content. Your a better man than me lol I would’ve been picking as much as possible up with that grapple
If I were a betting man, I'd be tempted to hedge bets that Ms Rebecca won't be able to put Fireball in the freezer. But I kinda know better. However, if it were my wife in that situation, Fireball would become the longest living steer in history.😊
Good tool, less work as we get older,,,💪
Love those pigs…so fun to watch.
how are your chestnut trees doeing ? please let us now thanks
The pigs are cute
What happen to the Red grain wagon you rebuild ??
you should probaly start looking for a used skid loader.
You can line up the trashed chicken coop wooden pieces to fill the holes/gaps to prevent chicks from escaping.
Where's your dogs haven't seen them in a while??
Rebekahs shirts my favorite bible verse on. it.
Poll on top
I'd bust that concrete off the posts and use the concrete for washout in your ditches or wherever you got erosion from rain.
Ethan I know a hole where you can dump the trash😗
How did that happen to the grapple Evan?
How many moto hours does your tractor have?
Just Block the wheels of the feed wagon ....🙂
Farm Salon!
Okay, how in the world did you manage to twist the blades on the grapple?
👌
👍👏
Evan you got to watch Rebecca, she likes to play with the animals.you won't get much work done. Great video
GUYz,
FYI-What you call your MEAT Chickens & Turkeys the industry calls these MARKET chickens & turkeys.
!
Anyone know what name brand of grapple?
3:42 Oh, man - for a second I was afraid you were gonna make her a sandwich. At least you used the grill.
Get you a few black chickens for your flock. Chicken hawks will mistake them for crows. They afraid of crows
Noticed a gap at the top of your chicken tractor near the door support. A raccoon can get in there if they find them. If they can get their heads in it they will fit. I've waged war on the racoons here in Kentucky.
