Create-a-card stuff, six different media players, toolbars galore in Internet Explorer, several different "end-cap" printer drivers and their programs (the ones they sell cheap at Walmart Target, etc) and everything she ever saved was literally saved ALL on the desktop, including her banking ( and there were 2 or three of those programs on there) So, yeah, it's amazing if they DON'T get viruses!

With IE it's best though as you only need to go to bad websites to get viruses you don't even need to download or run anything. Still requires some effort to find the bad sites though.
Outlook was the biggest malware hole back then, and worms and macro-infected Word documents could make the computer unbootable. Nowadays it's just bundleware, adware and ransomware that you're tricked into executing yourself.

Upon first boot, it spewed an error about CMOS settings not saved, easy fix, replace the battery. Then, when it finally booted up, it had a 60 GB hard drive, and 40 GB of "adult content". Upon further digging, this thing was used as a website server for said content, and was in operation up to 2015. You'll find all sorts of interesting things from second hand lol
