- Disney Cruise Line 2023 WISH - Castaway Cay 5K! Let's take a 3.1(ish) mile tour of Castaway Cay, Disney's private island!
The Castaway 5K is a FREE event on the island- no need to register to participate. Start/finish line are located at the bike rental hut and this is also where you can pick up your finisher medal! Don't feel like running? You can walk or bike this course as well!

Love the concept. Wish more resorts would do this to encourage guests to exercise. Just set up a 5k route and have runners do it on own time, get medal after. I think its the coolest thing. lol more vacation resorts should do this!

Love that you put this together! We have a cruise soon and plan to do this with our two kids. Also, I love that they have merch for it. I had no clue. When you all changed after, did you go back to the ship to do that? I’m trying to figure out the practical logistics of how that day will work.
We just got off the cruise and did the 5k. We took our swim stuff in a backpack (well, my boys just wore their swim shorts to run in), so I changed in the bathroom after the run. It’s a long hike back & forth to the ship. We left our backpack and towels on some beach chairs on the family beach right by the 5k start line, while we ran. Worked out perfect!
Just like Kimberly said- we brought a change of clothes with us and never went back to the ship until it was time. It's a BIG time suck to go back and forth.

Great race. This is the first time I've seen this race. I'll be on the Wish in September, and I will run it. Is there any photographer on the route? Ha ha.
No formal photographer on course- unless you count yourself. 🤣 There are photographers as we disembark and once you get to the main part of the island where the characters are. We didn’t see any characters this day because of the rain.

Oh it was over an hour. We took a prolonged “hydration stop” down at the adults only beach. It’s not timed and done at your own leisure!

Do you have to sign up in advance for the race?
No! All you have to do is go to the recreation hut as seen in this video and tell them you want to do the 5K! They'll give you a map and show you where the start/finish is. It can be done at your own leisure!
Do they time you and do you get something if you get first, second, or third?
Can you run the 5k at any time of the day?? Or is there a specific time when you can do it, say like 8:30-10:00? Hope you had fun!
You can run anytime you’d like! It’s an “at your leisure” type of thing. It’s not organized at all.
Question: is there a place to store securely our beach and personal stuff while we do the 5k run?
There were not lockers that we were aware of. We just left our stuff on a beach chair and ran. Obviously we had all of our valuables on us in race belts. No one messed with our stuff while we were gone.
