    Hi Daniel, I have just stumbled upon your channel an hour ago.
    I first stumbled across lucid dreaming a few years ago, when there was big hype around it. I was trying to start lucid dreaming for half a year as I was going through a rough time, but only managed to do it once or twice for very short dreams.
    I have watched some of your videos and realised some misconceptions and find you very genuine.
    I'm inspired to start trying again to lucid dream from today and I await your future advice!

Short lucid dreams are normal for beginners, so don't worry about that. It takes a while to get the hang of, but you'll get there!

    Thanks for the continued realistic explanations. I've gone lucid many times but I don't make it the goal. I just enjoy the increased vividness and recall with the dream practice. It's fun remembering 3+ dreams a night. My record was 8 dreams recalled. If I go lucid, that's a fun bonus to explore. It's all an adventure to me and realistic content like this just emphasizes the reality of practice over a quick fix sprint to lucid dream. Thank you.

      sir how to do this i mean personally i am improving 1 dream per night and currently i am having vivid and long dreams getting better and better per night due to dream journalling i got only 1 lucid dream right now and it was with dild hook but immidetley woke up afterwards

    And of course the other thing about getting fit/building muscle/learning a language/learning a musical instrument etc ... you have to keep it up! Because if you don't all your hard work will simply fade away and you'll be back where you started, so its also a good idea to pace yourself to a level that you can actually keep doing and be realistic - I've seen a lot of people get great results (with fitness training/martial arts etc) after a few months only to 'have a few weeks off' and then have to start again from the beginning.

    it's true what you say about training. i train for muscle mass and takes a very long time to see results and requires a lot of discipline. I'm working on the reality check mindset and it works great. and pretty soon 🤔 maybe coincidence and luck. I've had several pre lucid dreams this week. unfortunately not yet maintained awareness lucid dream. still working on it

      Firstly, thank you for being brilliant and supporting my content Jim. But also a major thank you for sharing your experience, it's so important to think of lucid dreaming in these same terms and timescales. The brain being a product of nature takes roughly the same time and training that the rest of the body requires. Early experiences are a little akin to when people lose water weight early in their diets. A great sign, and a motivational boost, but also not representative of the longer process.

      @@LucidDreamPortal That's completely right. lucid dreaming reminded me of working out. hard work and sometimes no lucid dreams and motivation dips for a while. I also sometimes have weak mindset moments with working out. I always get the question: how do you get a six pack? when i say you have to work hard, people quit after 1 week. or are they looking for videos: "six pack in 5 minutes" millions of viewers on such videos 🤔

    I love everything dreams. Dream journaling is my favorite thing to do and the more dreams I recall with vivid detail, the better. I find them fascinating and like to analyze my own subconscious and what it's trying to tell me 😊 this and being mindfully aware on a daily has been very helpful to me. I have never been a fan or WILD or anything similar because it makes me not be able to fall asleep whatsoever. I have frequent lucid dreams and the more aware I am during my days, the more lucid dreams I'm having. The one thing I have been procrastinating on which I know would help benefit my dream control is visualization. When I become lucid, I have no problem remembering what I need to do but say I'm gonna try creating fire from the palm of my hands? Last night I tried that and it refused to stay lit. Instead the fire became smoke and extinguished itself. I think if I took the time to visualize creating fire with my hands and watching cartoon shows on people bending fire, like avatar. Maybe I wouldn't feel like I'm going in blind? I don't know. I have the same problem when I'm trying to shift into an animal. It just doesn't want to work. Perhaps I should go back to the basics and regain more confidence in my dream control abilities and maybe I'm tackling too advanced thing? 🤔 Thoughts on this?

    Nice analogy mixed with a bit of humour and great advice? I like it! There are so many external (and internal) factors that go into both of those subjects, both are incredibly personal to your own mind/physique ... no simple "one technique over night" trick to do it!
    Also, for some weird reason my silly brain in my last somewhat lucid dream a couple of weeks ago thought it would be "safer" to try and fly through the roof than through an open window .. that didn't end too well ^^ I have a loooong way to go ..

    I think it's no secret that my mind isn't in the best of shape. I've been beyond stressed lately with college and taking care of someone where all the practices that I had missed out on are starting to show. When I was less stressed, my practices were producing good results but now I can't let that continue as my results are diminishing. Instead of having a weekly, somewhat good quality lucid, it's dropped to bi-weekly where the lucid is of lower quality.
    I'm also the type of person to beat myself up but do nothing about it. I can be critical of myself but do nothing to actually do anything as I'm exhausted afterwards and just decide to give up as it's too much. While I can't think of a good argument against what I'm about to say, the idea of changing something (ie behaviors) makes me feel very weird and not like myself. Heck, even doing something out of my comfort zone brings a little bit of "Who am I" thinking.
    While I could go on and on about this, I think it's a bit too personal to say and requires more thought than a UA-cam comment. I seriously do need to figure out something as I want to continue lucid dreaming and not fall out of interest with it (but I've been here for 2 years so I don't think I will). Very thoughtful video and I appreciated the humorous bits!

      Just remember, small manageable steps are better than no steps, or burning yourself out. Enjoy the process, take it at your own pace. And mostly, remember you're doing it for you 😊 (nobody else is judging!)

    Unlike other lucid dreaming channels, this man tells you the brutal truth and not just a false image of lucid dreaming, i remember when i stopped doing reality checks and stopped writing my dreams and i stopped having lucid dreams, bit the moment i started doing them again i started lucid dreaming again

    I am considering introducing more "dopamine fasting" days into my practice. My current use of social media is already very limited, but as someone working on PC, I am spending more time on UA-cam than I would like. Another thing is that my summer sleeping schedule is less conducive to lucid dreaming than my winter schedule. As the days get longer and there is more sunshine, my need for sleep decreases and I don´t get the 1 to 2 extra hours in the morning during which I was beginning to get lucid regularly. I still have about four to five dreams during the 6,5 hours I sleep at night so there are plenty of opportunities, but it´s more difficult to get lucid in the early part of the night. Might as well experiment more with the LOVE method :)

    any tips on overcoming an 8 year dry spell or "wall" as I call it? could it be the fustration of not lucid dreaming over such a time that has created the wall in my mind? I often feel like this "wall" is mocking me, because I have had the same semi lucid dream about 10 times now, it starts in a dark room, its night time and there are no lights on, usually a kitchen or living room, I am aware im dreaming and lucid, I know the dream I remember it however I feel that its not fully lucid because I always try to do the same thing, I always try to use my will to turn on the lights something I could do easily in a lucid dream, or change night to day, but nothing happens its as if I have no power in this semi lucid dream, which then makes me think was I ever really lucid at all? or was this just a dream of me thinking I was lucid. Very fustrating you are correct. I miss lucid dreaming so much 8 years is a long time to go without the gift I once had lucid dreaming 2 - 3 times a week for years strainght./

    Is using a dream journal on your mobile a really huge deal? Because some people keep telling me to use a physical diary to record my dreams, I would but I am afraid about my privacy. I would not like someone else reading my dreams for "fun". Does using a digital dream journal affect my chances of lucidty dramatically? The only downside I see is looking at a screen at the middle of the night.

      I believe security is not that big of a problem as I use those "password notes" application which requires my fingerprint to open the notes app, but still could be pretty unsafe, thank you for the article though, helped a lot.

      In an indirect way, yes. You'll be avoiding overstimulating your mind and making it harder to return to sleep.

    I’m a Muslim and I have been fasting(where you can’t eat or drink until around 8pm/sunset)and ever since it has started, I have been having trouble with both waking up at night and remembering my dreams. I’m not sure if not eating or drinking until around 8pm/sunset and lucid dreaming have any correlation and I want to see if you know anything

      Biologically this makes sense, fasting can lower brain activity due to decreased glucose levels, this may lead to fewer and less vivid dreams. Changes in neurotransmitters and hormones can also impact dream activity - such as increasing time spent in NREM (non dreaming sleep). Ramadan Mubarak!

      I imagine when you break the fast your dreams will come back naturally. No need to do anything unusual or extra. Although it's possible you'll have more vivid dreams for a short while.

      Binaural beats are pseudoscience, so a complete waste of time. Guided meditations are okay for helping to motivate, but don't do much else.

    When I do a RC/T (reality check or test) in the following way: I ask if am dreaming or awake (or what the type of dream I am experiencing), then do two physical acts as RC, then remember until the point I initiated the RC, and then I convince myself that I'm not dreaming (or experiencing a subjective/memory dream) but awake (or objective/sense dream) and lists the reasons that I'm not dreaming/in a subjective/memory dream talking about the acts I did, and if something strange happened I would know and become lucid in the dream. There's something wrong with this way I practice?

He has a highly informative and extremely useful podcast here on UA-cam, and he is also very much into sleep research and dreams. I would absolutely, totally and thoroughly love to see you two in a conversation on his podcast. He takes interest in lucid dreaming as well and I´m sure your cooperation would be very productive. If you don´t know him, I highly recommend to at least check his channel.

    Imagine somebody was lucid dreaming in a coma like it would be fun at first but if you were stuck for ages would they go mad eventually and see this as reality like what would,happen to mental health

    I just started pinching myself every 10 min... It works for me, and I keep the routine through dreams to... I pinch myself in a dream, and it doesn't hurt (of course), It kind of feels fuzzy though. I recommend pinching yourself 24/7. Then you can wake up your mind while dreaming and dream about all kinds of things ( iykwim )

      There is no meaningful evidence for them. Most studies show they have a similar influence to music or white noise.

      A good place to start would be the 19 day course here on the channel (although that requires membership after the first 3 lessons), but there are also many other videos here which will answer all your questions.

      As far as I'm aware no, there is an option occasionally to pick "do not recommend", But UA-cam tends to get the hint eventually if you don't watch them.

    Hi One guy wrote on Reddit about device that would help with WILD using sensors like muscle and skin electric response it captures when you falling asleep and doing beep when device detects it whath make you focus on it and then you fal asleep again and process goes on, in one moment it would transfer focus from real world to dream. I am bit interested what do you think about it

      These sorts of devices have been around since the 1980s, they are mostly a massive waste of money.
      They have very minimal success rates, are mostly incredibly annoying, and they tend to end up becoming expensive dust collectors.
      They don't work at all without putting in training to use them, and that same training is best focused on the nature of mind, which is more reliable and consistent.
      I'm the gym analogy, they are like those devices advertised on shopping channels for "instant abs".
      There really are no shortcuts with this subject. Ignore they hype and save your wallet.

This is not REM Dreamer type device rather something like DORMIO it catches when you goes into hypnagogic state to help you transfer yours conciousnes by shifting focus on external signals. It's something that you can learn though

      I'm familiar with the device you're talking about, but you can achieve the same effect by holding something heavy (such as a table spoon) over the edge of the bed. When you drift into that state, your muscle tone relaxes, the item drops and makes a noise, and wakes you from that state. Much cheaper. Try that for a week and if you don't find it mind bogglingly annoying (as it often can be), then maybe the device would be worth an investment - but frankly, I think it is over engineering a problem that can be solved with a spoon!

      @@LucidDreamPortal I see, this is something connected to 4+1, technique from Poland which is really a connection of two techniques WBTB and WILD, in WILD par author says to fall asleep for a while and then focus and do it util you fall asleep. I don't know if it would work maybe it would somehow transfer focus to the dream.

      @@LucidDreamPortal The second one of the current two is the only one that’s been relevant so far, but that one is for some device that’s supposed to help you sleep better if you have trouble breathing at night, I think? Could be , I’m not sure.

    In the last few months try to get back into habits of dreaming lucid . I bought some claridream pro to see if it will help . It's does last night had crazy lucid dream with it . Personal thinks it's more than a placebo. I have some lucid dreams with out it . I didn't have one in about 2 weeks .

      It sounds like it may be a form of anxiety. Knowing you'll be woken, or that you have something important to do, and this thought starts playing over in your head and leads to insomnia. Try setting your alarm on days you don't need to get up, so when it wakes you can return to sleep and relax, this may help you to break the connection between setting your alarm and the anxiety of something important to do.
      Obviously, if you are suffering from any forms of anxiety, it would be best to also speak to a trained medical professional.
