During one of my dreams someone came up to me and told me, now would be a good time to become lucid, but I should better go to the toilet. So I woke up and he was right, it was quite urgent. Until now that was the closest I got to a lucid dream. I think, my brain makes fun of me 🤡

I just had my second AND third lucid dream in the same night. I never really believed that it felt so real but now I do. The dream environment is unbelievably similar to the way the real world feels.

@@Randomtube265 It was just a lucky night. I have been having a lot of dreams about a person who I haven't seen in a while, so I've been telling myself if I ever see them, then I am dreaming. Very good video! A scientific and logical method to take down some of the .
    Are you dreaming?
Yes. I’m asking this in all seriousness. Are you dreaming right now?
Stop thinking that lucid dreaming will come tonight. Tonight never comes. Stop arrogantly assuming that you’re awake. Bring yourself into the eternal now.
Perform all your reality tests with an open critical mind, and with complete seriousness.
Remember, there is always an 10% chance, at any given moment, that this is all a dream.

This idea is what keeps me from procrastinating. Thinking that I'll put whatever it may be until next time, and not changing the present moment. I will keep putting whatever it is off until next time is now... and the cycle continues. I used to say that procrastination would be my super power, if I had one. Thinking this way is like shooting yourself in the foot, because it is programming yourself that this is the way it is, and it will not change.

I think this is a very good principle for making stuff happen in general! I am very bad when it comes to revenge bedtime procrastination (trying to make up time in the night when there is technically leisure time, which should ideally be used for sleep instead). I keep telling myself what I'm going to do next time to avoid it and then that gets in a vicious cycle. It manages to slip in one way or another even though I initially have good intentions. Rather than saying I'm not going to this tomorrow and do that instead, right then is when I should doing that rather than saying to do that. When I make a plan to do something like that, I should also stick to the original plan and not let other things slip in there. If one thing will slip, 10+ more things will then too. It isn't about limiting what slips; it's about cutting those extra things off altogether. I think this will help me with lucidity most right now because revenge bedtime procrastination is definitely killing my chances and healthy sleep, for only a little, almost unappreciative more productivity in waking life. Also, writing this comment is almost killing that too due to paralysis by analysis. It happens NOW, not tomorrow!

I always found mantras a bit annoying and useless. When I was going through rough patches, everyone would tell me to repeat mantras over and over again, telling me that if I repeated them, I would eventually feel better. Of course I didn't really do that because I didnt understand how that could work. I never used mantras for lucid dreaming as I didn't understand how they were supposed to work and I'm somewhat glad I avoided this "I will lucid drean tonight" loop.
What I might try to do from this video is change how I reflect on my reality tests. I've got into the habit of saying "chances are [based on the results of tests] I'm probably awake, however, I could be wrong" due to a livestream from over a year ago. I'm thinking about changing it to what you suggested in this video because I know I'm not reality testing enough throughout the day. I may need to modify it as the thought of reality testing can become overwhelming and intrusive (did you check good enough? Check again, check again), but it seems like it can help.
Thanks for the wonderful video! I always seem to get new take aways and insights every week! And apologies if I seem very all over the place in the comment, I am very much out of it as I'm writing this!

    • @DanielLoveOrg
      @DanielLoveOrg  Рік тому +1

No worries stumped, it seems to be one of those out-of-it kind of days! - I completely understand that reality testing can be quite challenging, we're always battling the mind's natural tendency to automate regular actions - so it's good to mix it up a little now and then, keep it fresh. They really do have to be done in complete seriousness, with the expectation that *now* is when lucidity happens, not the future. So always be prepared to be shocked!

This technique remembers of a time some months ago, in which I used some kind of similar technique and it worked. The thing is that, to this day, I don't know what I did to make it work.
I was in a normal night, before going to bed, thinking about what I could use to get to lucid dreaming. I don't remember too much of that night apart from in the moment that I was already trying to sleep.
I started to repeat in my mind the phrase "I'm aware in my dreams and I have full control", trying to do it until the very moment before entering a dream or just sleeping. Something probably key of that moment, is that I felt comfortable and very relax, I remember it was like some bluish image behind my eyes and very blurry, it was like the perfect state and moment. I remember trying to see if I could get excited or something like that, and I couldn't, I was just relaxed and my mind just couldn't overthink. After that, I remember that I entered in a dream, instantly lucid, not very vivid but enough to enjoy a little bit. I don't remember nothing about that dream past that.
I really don't know what I did to achieve that state of relaxation and focus.
(In advance, an apology in case I have a bad English, I'm not a native speaker)

One of my friends walk up to me and say "you are dreaming" and I said "no way" and he said "look" and spawned a mattress in front of the bus. I started feeling walls and questioned about how it felt real. Then I wanted to make a clock to stop time instead of just trying to stop it which was a clear indicator I was not lucid in the dream, so I spawn a box infront of me called a time stop watch making kit, and i got so frusterated trying to build it that i woke up

No, I wouldn't recommend anything that references awareness or lucidity, they are too nebulous and complex to imagine (try imagining "awareness" it's basically impossible, and instead we imagine behaviours related to it - similar to trying to imagine being drunk, or any other specific state of mind). So if we use terms that are vague and hard to imagine, the brain just overlooks them. This technique helps to side-step that: www.thelucidguide.com/Techniques/Task-Triggered-Lucidity

    Hey Daniel,
Long time and im back again at you mr comment section. I think you remember me. I'm thinking of starting ld-ing again but theres a problem. Im 10th grade now and in India, 10th is a very very important class. I dont want to put all my energy into ld and just ruin my studies. BUT! I still want to lucid dream😅😅. Will Lucid dream distract me? If you forgot, I had some lucid dreams in the past like 9 or 10. And also I found my old dream journal which I was searching for a long time. Do you have any tips for returning lucid dreamer❤❤ Cheers mate.

Hi Teabiscuit, yes I remember you.
First things first, make sure your studies are your priority - you have a whole lifetime to lucid dream, but only once chance to complete your studies effectively. So definitely don't do anything to risk that!
If you want to do lucid dream practice alongside study, and in a way that is beneficial. I would focus your practice on regular reality tests, dream journaling, and meditation. You may also want to occasionally use some techniques like MILD during a morning nap.
These are passive techniques, that will give you more sleep, help improve your memory and focus, and help you to learn to stay calm and relaxed under pressure. All things that should also aid your study.
      But, priority number one... study!

I don't support any kind of book piracy - it's direct theft from the author (which would be very un Buddhist!). I own every book ever written on lucid dreaming, including all the Tibetan (and other) religious texts. As a professional sleep and dream researcher, it's my job to make sure I an well informed. But my website (link in channel description) has a contact form.

@@DanielLoveOrgI previously think that you don't have the books about the Tibetan yoga. I would like a video about the difference of the approach of the eastern and western techniques for lucid dreaming. Also you say that to become lucid in dreams we must pay attention to what distracts us in the dreams, and the Tibetan yoga teaches that to become lucid in the dream we must have mindfulness in waking life, and this led me to think how each technique can relate to each other
