So strange to see the old flash game become something this well made. I remember the original and playing through it many times.

Good to see you still having fun with this. The two-handed weapons you can craft are all capable of hitting in a big area, but they only do it on a charged melee attack. So if you can get the timing right you can let it rip right in the teeth of an approaching horde, and if you can get the timing wrong you can get ripped up by the teeth of an approaching horde. Risk/reward!

Originally 2d with flash, now theres an fps and the original top down mmoarpg. Both very active communities and both quite enjoyable and very horror esque
I can only imagine that it's either not bothering the developers or too hard to do but I groan everytime you drive into a zone and neither the way in or out are passable by a car without using winch, anchors and time...
Agree with what you said about stupid horror movie characters. Funny enough, Veronica Cartwright was in both The Birds and in Alien. The only thing that changed in her hysterical ineffectualness was her age. Lol

A very very fun game I hold close to my heart
Not sure about unforgiving parts(maybe Wander played too smoothly, or too much leeway were given to fisticuffs), but combining roguelite progression with zombie survival is a rare occurence. Though I didn't know the series's past, I do find the current game promising. Will be anticipating another play-through attempt with great interest.
Are you ever playing Project Zomboid again? I would love another series on it.
Oh man, the old days playing TLS games on Kongregate (btw Flash Game Archive has all of them iirc in case someone wants to play them offline), will have to check this one out
it's VERY rough on PS5 (was this built in Unity?) with low performance and really ragged graphics settings.
i'm in love with it though, this is basically the most fun parts of all zombipocalypse games, where has this game been all my life

This game was really fun to be honest, I really enjoyed it.
State of decay 2 is way better then the first, and way better then it was when it first came out, a lot of fun.
As far as SoD goes, SoD 2 is better in most ways. Especially the multiplayer. The only bad it really has is the lack of a proper storyline save for the DLC.

i think the biggest problem with mmo vs rougelite leveling is rougelite you feel the increase in power in mmos you only really notice it when your falling behind..
I wonder if you can encounter the protagonist of Last Stand 1 and 2 in this game, he cameo's for the final battles/levels of union city and his fate is left unknown, but given I remember him holding off zombie hoards on a peer with a minigun, he should have been fine. :V
There are two reasons why I cant do horror. Body horror is gross a viscerally activates a suffering response in me. And the unrelenting rage that fills me upon experiencing idiot plot excludes me from feeling all other thoughts or emotions. No horror is devoid of those two things, apparently.
Shout out to the new the evil in me or whatever the new dark pictures game is called for being the second most stupid thing I have ever experienced.

Having characters do dumb shit in your story is called the idiot plot, Overly Sarcastic Productions has a very informative video about that trope. It can be done right if a character has a certain well known character flaw or if they are unaware of certain information, but pretty often in horror media it's done wrong and characters just act like idiots to move the plot along.
Or like, one good honest conversation could have ended the story.
I'm not affiliated with OSP in any way, I just find their videos about tropes in narratives very interesting and certainly this one about the idiot plot which is also a big annoyance of mine.
The only problem with this game is that.. its rather bland. and theres already a crapton of zombie games that do everything this does, but better. Project Zomboid is the standard i hold zombie games to, lol. This game is fun, just with little originality. Granted, you cant really be too original with zombie games.
It's true, but unfortunately a massive lack of good Zombie action roguelikes so I always had high hopes for this game, maybe it will keep improving
@@brandsmp As a big fan of The Last Stand series, I do like this game. played far longer than I probably should've. But it does feel like a massive step back from the side scroller series, or even Deadzone, which was, for what it was, an amazing game.
Be nice if they added a mode where you defend a barricade and search for supplies like the 1st game
