i thought kirk played 72 seasons song harmonized lead? it shows him playing it in the music video and i get that there’s another layer of harmony where james plays but it’s not his specific part?
Not to play the 'Erm, actually' card But... Orion: in the CD case it says 2nd solo: Hetfield (which is his solo Kirk just steals it live), it's Kirk's solo after the bass solo which was written mostly by Cliff to the point where it says 4th solo: Burton in the CD Other than that that was an amazing video, good on you my friend (of misery?!?!? whoa) :)
The outro solo(not really i get it) for outlaw torn is probably my favourite one out of all em, like that build up just keeps going on forever which is really satisfying and ive listened to it on loop for like 5hrs straight up, really addictive, James is truly one of a kind.
That’s why I like to listen to the unencumbered version of the song. James’ part at the end is even longer than what is on the album, but they claim that it wouldn’t fit, so they had to cut it short.
Suicide and Redemption James Solo were included on the DLC of their theme of Guitar Hero and always blown away when everytime James solo comes it's so fkn Aggresive as hell idk but everytime james tries to do a solo he's style were like he was singing to it
I have no clue if it would fit, but an amalgamation/combo of The End Of The Line and Just A Bullet Away might be seriously cool. Always thought End of the Line had sick riffs but meh clean parts, and Just a bullet away with mid songwriting except for a few riffs and the entire interlude section. Actually, anyone remember The New Song (Death is not the end)? Just stick the 12/8 groove and interlude in there, cut out some other parts, and you have a killer track
That S&R Solo is amazing. This entire instrumental just slaps. Rob put some sugar on it. I just adore Death Magnetic. This and Two last songs on Yellow Album are proof that Metallica still got it. Also, thanks for including Just a Bullet Away. Really underrated
Gotta be the 2nd solo. The first has wah and is in the right ear, so it's Kirk's. The second has no wah and is in the middle. So if James did play a solo on 2 x 4, it's in the 2nd one.
@@420Impeller The solo I was thinking of is the one that starts at 3:21 on the studio track. Kirk has a couple lead-ish parts earlier in the song that I wouldn't call solos, so James's solo would probably be like the second or third if you count those. If you watch the live performances from 1995 (Donnington is the one I'm thinking of in particular), James plays the first proper solo, and it's basically the same solo that plays at 3:21 on the studio track.
@@fingerlingus7756 Yeah I wasn't thinking of those leads as any solos. Odd that he plays that one live because he rarely uses wah. With all the info we have the one you're talking about is most likely Kirk's solo for the reasons I mentioned. On Thorn Within and Outlaw Torn, James solos are on the left, so you can tell when it's one of his but the second solo in 2 x 4 is in the center. We can't be sur, so I guess we'll never truly know.
it just goes to show that actual thought went in to james's solos especially s&r that solo james should have slapped kirk with it and screamed thats how you do a solo rather than all the same wah bs
7:44 this song is such a shame to me, because all of the clean parts are SO COOL, but the rest of the song is long and very boring with pretty mid lyrics (imo) but the instrumentation is just so beautiful on the interlude and intro!!
That’s actually not James doing this; as I’ve drummed and played this song on the guitar before; Lars is actually shifting the beat at the end to give it an offbeat feel

holy shit i still managed to forget "now that we're dead", _again_
Oh, I didn’t forget, I had wrote down somewhere “not enough to be considered a solo” false alarm lmao
the solo in orion after the interlude was also recorded by james, though kirk plays it live.
i thought kirk played 72 seasons song harmonized lead? it shows him playing it in the music video and i get that there’s another layer of harmony where james plays but it’s not his specific part?

Room of mirrors’ guitar harmony nearly had me in tears… multiple times
House of mirrors 11:28
It does to me every time. And when you think it cant get any better, Metallica slaps you with Inamorata and you are left absolutely devastated
Most of these are harmonies, not solos. Still very cool though, James is a master of melody.
James writes most of the harmonies
Yes.
@@miketikeYT I thought it was Cliff who was the harmony dude
@@carrasco921 he taught James how to do it but I think he only wrote Fade to black, Creeping Death, Orion, maybe i forgot something
In master from 0:35 to 0:54 in this video, that part is only played by James and that is that part I really consider solo
James is so underrated when it comes to solos. He plays with so much feel and his phrasing and tone are some of the best I've ever heard.
His solo off to Live is to Die is my favorite. So much sadness over the loss of Cliff in that one.
I cry every time

That's my favorite solo of theirs by far
11:52 The scratching an itch simile is perfect honestly
4:04 This part almost sounds like Slash !

idk but everytime james tries to do a solo
he's style were like he was singing to it
for me, the breakdown from "am i savage?" and "manUNkind" intro are still my favorite parts from modern metallica.
and most of death magnetic
You sir, are incredibly based

Man his solo from to live is to die always gets me. So much grief in that section man.
House of Mirrors goes hard 😂
Hello fellow average Room of Mirrors enjoyer!
And yes, I also called the song House of Mirrors on my first listen LOL
Best song off 72 seasons

Pretty sure James played the first solo in 2 x 4. He's credited for lead guitar on that song.

I believe James plays the leads on Whiskey in a Jar as well
He didn't include Garage Inc.
Great video!!
NWOHBM... New Wave Of Hritish Beavy Metal
is HWTSD a NWOBHM?
Heavy British metal

11:04 its not house of mirrors its room of mirrors btw great vid keep up
Damn that’s so sad I made a mistake
Maybe he confused the song with Arch Enemy's
2:00 if you pay reallyy close attention to one you van hear some bass
House Jack Built comment had me dying
My Friend of Misery was combined w/ Bob Rock's Synth and One does have an audible Bass .
Yeah at like one part in the song (the outro harmony solo) and same with the rest of the album - other than TLItD you hear the odd note :|
Lead fill from ain't my b**ch
For whom the bell tolls has James lead after Cliff's intro
It's in the harmony solo, Kirk plays that solo
The fact that James solo in Atlas, Rise! sounded so NWOBHM
actually atlas solo belong to kirk.
wϟgh
LMAO
wϟgh indeed
If you are putting harmonies why dont you add Lords of Summer harmony. God it is so frickin good
Hero of the Day solo is in major
Does Too Far Gone? Count as not enough to be considered a solo
Yes, it isn’t enough
Is the harmony in "Day That Never Comes" not a James' solo?
just realized most of the songs he solos on are about suicide... hope he's alright
Not to forget the solo in "Turn the Page"
And his solos in Motörhead cover songs
My Friend of Misery was combined w/ Bob Rock's Synth .
I liked Kirk's work and they finally let Rob step up more, but James really carried Hardwired through and through.
Orion’s solo before cliff’s solo was played by James
Wait that one on THJB was a solo???
I'm sorry did you call it *House of Mirrors*?

actually ☝️🤓 the guitar hero solo it's on the studio recordings
T H E H A L F O F T H E S O L O

Hero of the Day is in A major, the only other one I can think of at the moment.
2 X 4, Now That We're Dead?
I have ruined the 420th like.
You're the choosen one
James does this thing at the end of his Master of Puppets solo where he retards his notes behind the beat.
