As a kid, I had it firmly in my headcanon that World Terminus was how the heartless were traveling to each world. So when I saw the 100 Acre Wood portal, I felt like that meant the heartless had made it to Pooh's world and I had to beat Ansem to save it.
Yeah, I kind of got that vibe, too. The World Terminus was how the Heartless had been able to get to the worlds so quickly. Ansem had "connected" those worlds, so when you're going through the World Terminus, you are literally stopping a last-ditch all-out Heartless invasion. After all, you had to go the long way around to reach End of the World because of how the Lanes Between were now swarming with Heartless. The only way to permanently stop the invading waves, though, is to defeat Ansem once and for all. It's honestly perfect theming that sadly isn't really replicated throughout the rest of the series.
Fun fact. Chernabog was originally the final boss. Supposed to be the source of the Heartless. That would make some sense . Since Chernabog is literally Satan in the Disney universe
@@JackkChaos I didn't know either. Till I checked the journal and saw that he was from Fantasia. I remember seeing commercials for it on the old VHS tapes for older Disney movies but never watched it

13:16 I think this is the scariest room for me. The floating, super bright heartless emblem is just so freaky. And that you can't go back to this room, and its decaying, its so strange.
In the original PS2 version of the Neverland part, there's this weird background sound effect that sounds like...some kind of windy whimper. I remember only hearing it in that specific map... Also, the Atlantica "watery" screen distort effect does occur, but only in World Terminus rooms that you haven't unlocked the world's keyhole for. Those pillars will glow blue instead of purple and you'll be forced to defeat the waves of enemies in them to proceed. Once you've beaten them all the screen will quickly flash white and then the distortion effect will go away.
I only have the PS2 version, and throughout the entire world, I always hear this strange droning sound in the background, and it's not part of the world's theme. It's definitely an ambient effect that's added to it, as I can't hear it on OST videos.
I love that this was basically a trip to the brink of Kingdom Hearts hell. So spooky, ethereal, and surreal. It was terrifying to know that this was the remains of beloved worlds like the Pride Lands, Land of Dragons, etc. The opening Gate to the Dark was really effective without the music, just the cold wind. Even using the gummi ship to this world is scary. Space got darker the entire game until it finally turned pitch black with just the light from End of the World. But much like Chernabog being bathed in white light at the end of Bald Mountain, that’s not a comforting light. That prophecy in the ark room was chilling. And of course battling the literal embodiment of evil in Chernabog was a grim omen of how deep into evil we were getting. And Ansem is one of the few villains who is worth the hype by the end of the game, even after Chernabog.
Yeah I found End of The World and the KH1 Heartless more "weird" and kinda "surreal" too. Especially the World of Chaos. Imagine Square Enix developers coming up with the idea of: "I have an idea for the final boss" "What is it?" "Let's add an eldritch weird demon thing" "And for the next games?" "We'll keep it normal"
I was under the impression that the colorful crystal formations everywhere were gummi blocks, considering that the barrier of worlds is made up of them.
I haven't played Melody of Memories but after kh2 I always thought that the Hollow Bastion room in World Terminus was Xehanort's lab where he created heartless
Favorite world in the series. It’s the most unique and mysterious world we’ve ever hard, it make the darkness feel so menacing in the first game. Hope they’re able to reach the height of effect this world had on me again.
I think Terra wasn't aware much during his time as the guardian, due to at least part of his mind being stuck as the lingering will. It's only after the LW is destroyed that he even tries to resist, after all.
The scariest part to think about this place is the fact that the ‘snow’ you’re standing on is basically all that remains of the dead planets that had their keyholes busted into; reduced to stardust.
could the black ring in the olympus room be intentional? Since at this point you are close to the end and more and more worlds are destoried so the sky gets emptier?(and i know you can leave and see the night sky in other worlds, but Sora would go straight to the end canonicaly)

Anyone notice that the crevice area looks a whole lot like soras part of the "symphony of sorcery" world in DDD? The part right after the clouds looks just like this crevice but before the darkness took over. Always thought that was really cool!
KH3 is kind of like the end and beginning of KH1 too. Sora disappears into another world like when he fell into Traverse Town, and then it all ends with the quote from his dream in the beginning.
Interesting tidbit: Almost every "world arena" in the world terminus is a re-use of a map that you cannot visit normally (or so I think.) For Traverse Town is the Third District with the blocks on the sides For Olympus Coliseum is the first area but at sunset (only seen in cutscenes otherwise) In Agrabah is the map they used for the first boss, where all main areas of the city are accesible at once. In Halloween Town it's Oogie's lair, just as you see it in cutscene. In Captain Hook's ship is, again all the main areas of the ship. And in Hollow Bastion is a never-before-seen location. As for the Heartless emblem blocking your way in that one Radiant Garden room: Ansem, Seeker of Darkness goes to rest in his World of Chaos form, protecting himself from all damage with a Heartless emblem. Maybe they are a (theoretical) immovable object.

Now I’m curious what he gonna do with Castle oblivion Considering that There’s not much to there And for kingdom hearts two he’s probably going to Make a short video for Atlantica and I only really show Olympus Coliseum like the Colosseum itself once it’s destroyed and then focus more on the underworld
I’m not sure why but I never thought of the snow on the ground as snow but fractured parts of worlds. Like ashes falling from a massive fire but glimmering from the slight light left within the dying worlds
With regards to the World Terminus, it's a very meta and non-story reasoning, but I honestly thought the whole point of it was visiting maps in the game that were no longer accessible. I don't think it applies to every world, but for example, Traverse: you can't see 3rd District in its barriered boss fight setup anymore; Halloween: you can't access Oogie's room anymore; Olympus: you don't get to visit the front courtyard at night, only see it in cutscenes; etc. This was a part of the game I often gave a lot of thought to, and assumed 1) Story-wise, they're not really portals to the respective worlds as much as some sort of facsimiles housed in End of the World for some reason, and 2) Most of the place's purposes was gameplay and meta sort of reasons like "Here's a museum of sorts to visit these blocked-off maps".
As a kid, I always thought the World Terminus was meant to show that, even thought you went through all of them, the Heartless had destroyed the worlds, and this is where you saw what was left of them. I was 7, and didn't know I could go back to worlds once I got here...
So I think you mentioned in another video that the gummi blocks are pieces of the barriers that protect the worlds. I think based on that it's safe to say almost everything at the end of the world is made up of gummis as well as the broken worlds. Like that "snow" on top of a lot of stuff has big colorful bits in it when you look at the ground closely, so I think the snow is more likely sand.... the sand of ground up gummi blocks. This world is terrifying lol
World of Chaos looks like a fucked up Gummi Ship, always saw more of a boat but that dome really sells the spaceship thing. It's very Final Fantasy lol
I always think the structure of the "World of Chao" reminds me of the Meta-knight's ship the "Halberd" (two models of it in Super Star, and Squeak Squad)
So... I did actually find it weird that we didn't Physically "see" Kingdom hearts in the first game Until you pointed it out in this video. In all the other games Kingdom hearts Appears as a heart shaped moon. The one in KH2 Is made by the hearts of men (its a yellow color) and the one that appears in birth by sleep is assembled by the hearts of worlds. (Its a blue colour) The author of these games specified that these are what the different iterations of kingdom hearts represent. So what about this one? What does the black moon represent? A kingdom hearts Assembled by darkness exclusively?
Wow I NEVER knew that those invisible walls are mapped out when you are sucked into a bubble. Thats crazy. I learned something new about every world watching these.
Also the Arc’s canon name is the life bout. It’s an easy mistake to make if you didn’t go back and watch the official English cutscenes of Union X so I don’t blame you
In Japanese its called ark and in our crappy localization which screwed up already translated quotes fromnKH1 they call it a lifeboat. Its a bad translation imo but I guess its canon.
I don't believe you mentioned it so I thought I might just say that the tiny rocks in the final dimension area kinda point the way forward to the next rock so you can navigate easily without having to worry about the invisible walls
I've grown confused by End of the World. Is it a physical manifestation of the World of Darkness? We see Enchanted Dominion, Dwarf Woodlands, and Castle of Dreams here, each left in shambles. Is this a different rendition of what we see in 0.2? Is the 0.2 world the hearts of the worlds left in darkness while this is literally just metaphysical debris? Not that this upsets me, after all, it's KH. But still, isn't it odd to think about?

Wow I NEVER knew that those invisible walls are mapped out when you are sucked into a bubble. Thats crazy. I learned something new about every world watching these.
That's not Hollow Bastion's pod room. Look up "Daybreak Town Pod Room" and take a look that's from UX. Did Numora plan THAT far ahead?
The machine ended up in Hollow Bastion. Have you played Melody of Memory? It's shown in that
Also the Arc’s canon name is the life bout. It’s an easy mistake to make if you didn’t go back and watch the official English cutscenes of Union X so I don’t blame you
Ah I see, I have just been calling it what I saw other people say
In Japanese its called ark and in our crappy localization which screwed up already translated quotes fromnKH1 they call it a lifeboat. Its a bad translation imo but I guess its canon.
@@couchpotato3197 hu didn’t know that thanks for the info
Billy Zane FTW!!!
Final dimention might be an early version of the Final world
I don't believe you mentioned it so I thought I might just say that the tiny rocks in the final dimension area kinda point the way forward to the next rock so you can navigate easily without having to worry about the invisible walls
9:07 really, you went for the arena reference? It's literally used as part of the hades cutscene with maleficent.
But still, isn't it odd to think about?
kinda wonder what the world with reflected sky and water is called, seems like a polar opposite of this world.
Snow or sand?
I’m the 13th like
