Looks great Steve, I like that you don't have to run cords through a door or window to get inside the house. Cheers.
Hi Ron
This is by far the lowest cost compared to wiring up a breaker panel , permits ect , just plug and power 👍
That’s a good installation Steve and there is nothing better than being prepared….CHEERS
Hi Gator
I still find it odd how I know people that have bought a genset but every time the electricity goes out they sit and hope it comes back on as they have no idea what to do with the genset but claim they have one just incase 🤣😅
Looks great Steve. I have a similar setup to your original setup. The only difference is I have my heavy duty cable running underground right to my shed and that’s where I plug the generator in. Thanks Buddy 🍻
That's a great setup too 👌
Nice clean work Steve👌 It sure seems like power outages are more common . At my property as soon as the weather man comes on the power is out!
Take care Steve✌️
Hi Marc
Down here I'm one of three people that actually have a genset when the power goes out as the rest hope it never goes out :)
Yeah all you need is what you did, i was thinking same thing about going through the main panel and insurance. Great idea steve
Jason this is very basic and works without permits , insurance and a trade installing a disconnect.
I would offer 1 suggestion? Twist-lock (or better) externally... They're more resistant to being partially unplugged... A neighbor of mine burned his house to the foundation from arcing @ the plug in... Fortunately, everyone got out...
Yes that's a great option 👍
Funny that our power keeps going out more and more.
Good work brother!
Hi Clyde
The price keeps going up for a service that's on par with the people that provide it , so its unreliable, and of course we're told the best in the world:)
These plug ins are much better and safer than the hack that so many use… the suicide cord… Good job,Steve🎉
Hi Craig
Yes absolutely, I've seen some dandy hookups in my time 🤣😅
Nice job
I did a similar setup on my first house the only difference is I used a mini sub panel painted orange and since I was renovating I ran power wires to key areas of the house from that mini sub panel (kitchen, bathroom, shop and furnace) I mounted a double gang box that housed regular power and generator power(white receptical and orange receptical). This way my wife could simply fire up the generator and unplug from hydro to generator without dragging power cords around the house. Our generator lives in a weather proof box beside the house so it's ready to go at any time.
Nice 👍
How's she goin'? With the number of power outages increasing everywhere it seems, the more we can be prepared to operate without the utility the better. Doing it safely is key. This set up is a great way to get 120 VAC at 15 amps into your house. Nice neat wiring and it looks good. Take 'er easy!!
Hi Mike
Thanks , it's just me and my friend up the road that have gensets . Yes the hydro is out a lot but it seems nobody out here cares much but they see my lights on at night and they ask why my power is on and theirs not . LOL
Nice setup Steve, that will take care of all the bases👍
Hi Lloyd
Yes its quick and easy 👍
Nice set up Steve our power is off a lot here the storms have been bad this year in west Tennessee.
Hi Danny
The weather has been bad up here too but not as bad as some of them twisters you get down south. Being prepared is a must have for all those that have experienced bad outcomes.
I hear ya Danny. I’m not far from You, and it seems the electric grid is sketchy at times. Stay safe and well! 👍
Very well done, I like the set up!
Thanks!
Looks good Steve nice work 👍
Thanks Joe .
There is a lot of comfort knowing you have back up power for some essentials.
Hi Wyatt
So many around me have no idea about what to do when the electricity goes off . I get people asking me how come you have power and they don't ? I always say , maybe you forgot to pay your bill. 🤣😅
You always do such nice work.
Thanks Kenny 👍
Great idea Steve.
Thanks Bruce .
good stuff. im a big fan of my Generlink
Hi Adam
Glad to see your set up too.
Nice and neat layout - I love the simplicity of this and some good points regarding not messing with panel - how do you run the furnace? Did you install an outlet for it? Thanks and cheers
Hi Ed
The power on/off furnace switch , I ran it into a single receptacle. The feed out of the furnace goes into a junction box and a extention cord male plug that goes to the receptacle to power the furnace. I just unplug it from the receptacle into a 10 ft extention cord and the other end plugs into the genset outlet I installed bypassing the utilities feed completely.
@@SteveRobReviews gotcha - smart and simple… love it, well done 👍
Good job Steve!
Thanks Gary 👍
Enjoy your videos
Thanks , much appreciated.
Should you have used 12/2 instead of 14/2 in case you need to run higher power stuff like hotplate, fridge/freezer, window ac, space heaters? I have been thinking about doing the same thing but with the heavier cable and mounting the outlets in the wall in the dining room. No basement, just crawlspace.
If you have a genset with output higher than 15 amps that's a bonus but my gensets only provide 15 amps thru the receptacles so 14 gauge does all I need to power.
Steve Rob !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Video, eh
Genny’s are good to have, but dealing with cords is a hassle. One day I will put in a transfer switch. I would do it myself, but I have Two - 200 Amp Square D boxes, so I will contact a real Electrician. 😃
It’s hard to know what We all might be facing in coming months and Years; witness the huge Solar Flare activity, and being able to see the Aurora Borealis in the southern part of the US! They were predicting possible interruptions in power and other stuff? It’s good to be prepared! “Chance favors the prepared mind.”
Appreciate You Steve my brother from another Mother from the Great White North! 😆 Cheers! 👍💪🤝🇨🇦 🇺🇸😊
Hi George
Yes absolutely being prepared is a must do or experience what happens if not .
Cool
Cheers Terry !!
