Taku, have you ever tried foraging in the south, like down in the Oyster Beds of the Gulf Coast. They're a different kind of oyster than we had in Oregon and Washington, but delicious just the same. Not to mention the crab, crawfish, and other seafood. Let me know if you like to go after Bluefin and or Yellowfin some time, my family runs a deep-sea charter service down out of Venice Louisiana. I'll have three small ones this year for not very many people (2 or 3 for Christmas dinner). I'm going to make laksa with the leftovers after Christmas...

Gosh, I wish I lived by the ocean. I'm in the Midwest and the closest thing I get is lake and river fish. However, whenever my bf and I are by the ocean, we always go fishing :) Your dish looks absolutely delicious by the way!

Taku's purple pest removal service strikes again. People here say that you need to do some collaborations with others. Forget that! THEY need to do collaborations with YOU! I was sort of blah towards uni for a while, but I was always getting it from large red or black urchins. You got me to try these little purple guys and there is a difference! I wouldn't take them before because I thought it was going to be too much work. Boy was I wrong!

I’ve try fresh see urchin in Seattle and it was good (the green type) , then had some that was already pack , it tasted off and I couldn’t even finish one tray , and I though these were going to be good , so we bought 3 trays .. what a waste , the look perfect , but the taste wasn’t as fresh .. I have yet to try the purple and red ones 😋
